1 Kongebok 16

1 Og Herrens ord kom til Jehu, Hananis sønn, om Baesa, og det lød således:

Then came the word of Yahweh unto Jehu

2 Fordi jeg har ophøiet dig av støvet og satt dig til fyrste over mitt folk Israel, men du har vandret på Jeroboams vei og fått mitt folk Israel til å synde, så de vekker min harme ved sine synder,

son of Hanani, against Baasha, saying: Forasmuch as I exalted thee out of the dust, and gave thee to be leader over my people Israel, —and yet thou hast walked in the way of Jeroboam, and caused, my people Israel, to sin, provoking me to anger with their sins,

3 så vil jeg nu feie efter Baesa og hans hus og gjøre med ditt hus som med Jeroboams, Nebats sønns hus.

Behold me! consuming after Baasha, and after his house, —and I will deliver up thy house, like the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat:

4 Den av Baesas ætt som dør i byen, skal hundene fortære, og den av hans ætt som dør på marken, skal himmelens fugler fortære.

Him that dieth of Baasha in the city, shall, the dogs, eat, and, him that dieth of his in the field, shall, the birds of heaven, eat.

5 Hvad som ellers er å fortelle om Baesa, om det han gjorde, og om hans store gjerninger, det er opskrevet i Israels kongers krønike.

Now, the rest of the story of Baasha, and what he did, and his might, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

6 Og Baesa la sig til hvile hos sine fedre og blev begravet i Tirsa, og hans sønn Ela blev konge i hans sted.

So Baasha slept with his fathers, and was buried in Tirzah, —and, Elah his son, reigned, in his stead.

7 Men Herrens ord var ved profeten Jehu, Hananis sønn, kommet til Baesa og hans hus, ikke alene for alt det onde han hadde gjort for Herrens øine, idet han vakte hans harme ved sine henders verk, så han var lik Jeroboams ætt, men også fordi han hadde slått denne ætt ihjel.

Moreover also, through Jehu son of Hanani the prophet, the word of Yahweh, came against Baasha and against his house, even because of all the wickedness that he had done in the eyes of Yahweh, provoking him to anger with the work of his hands, becoming like the house of Jeroboam, —notwithstanding that he smote him.

8 I Judas konge Asas seks og tyvende år blev Ela, Baesas sønn, konge over Israel i Tirsa, og han var konge i to år.

In the twenty-sixth year of Asa king of Judah, began Elah son of Baasha to reign over Israel, in Tirzah, [and he reigned] two years.

9 Hans tjener Simri, som var høvedsmann for den ene halvdel av stridsvognene, fikk i stand en sammensvergelse mot ham. Og da han engang var i Tirsa og drakk sig drukken hos Arsa, slottshøvdingen i Tirsa,

Then conspired against him his servant Zimri, captain of half the chariots, —as he was in Tirzah drinking himself drunk, in the house of Arza, who was over the household in Tirzah.

10 kom Simri og slo ham ihjel - det var i Judas konge Asas syv og tyvende år - og så blev han selv konge i hans sted.

And Zimri went in, and smote him and slew him, in the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah, —and reigned in his stead.

11 Og da han var blitt konge og satt på sin trone, slo han hele Baesas hus ihjel; han lot ikke en eneste mann av hans ætt bli i live, hverken hans nærmeste frender eller hans venner.

And it came to pass, when he began to reign, as soon as he sat on his throne, that he smote all the house of Baasha, he left him not even the meanest, —neither of his kinsfolks, nor of his friends.

12 Således utryddet Simri hele Baesas hus efter det ord som Herren hadde talt til Baesa ved profeten Jehu,

Thus did Zimri destroy all the house of Baasha, —according to the word of Yahweh which he spake unto Baasha, through Jehu the prophet;

13 for alle de synders skyld som Baesa og hans sønn Ela hadde gjort, og som de hadde fått Israel til å gjøre, så de vakte Herrens, Israels Guds harme ved sine tomme guder.

as to all the sins of Baasha, and the sins of Elah his son, —wherewith they sinned, and wherewith they caused, Israel, to sin, provoking to anger Yahweh God of Israel, with their vanities.

14 Hvad som ellers er å fortelle om Ela og om alt det han gjorde, er opskrevet i Israels kongers krønike.

Now, the rest of the story of Elah, and all that he did, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

15 I Judas konge Asas syv og tyvende år blev Simri konge og regjerte i syv dager i Tirsa, mens folket lå i leir omkring Gibbeton, som tilhørte filistrene.

In the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah, did Zimri reign, seven days in Tirzah, —but, the people, were encamped against Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistine.

16 Da folket som lå i leir, fikk høre at Simri hadde fått i stand en sammensvergelse og slått kongen ihjel, gjorde hele Israel samme dag i leiren hærføreren Omri til konge over Israel.

When therefore the people who were encamped, heard say, Zimri hath conspired, moreover also, he hath smitten the king, all Israel made Omri, general of the army, king over Israel, on that day, in the camp.

17 Så drog Omri med hele Israel op fra Gibbeton, og de kringsatte Tirsa.

So Omri, and all Israel with him, went up from Gibbethon, —and laid siege against Tirzah.

18 Men da Simri så at byen var inntatt, gikk han inn i borgen i kongens hus og brente kongens hus av over sitt hode og døde,

And it came to pass, when Zimri saw that the city was captured, that he entered into the citadel of the house of the king, —and burned over him the house of the king, with fire, and died:

19 for de synders skyld som han hadde gjort, idet han gjorde hvad ondt var i Herrens øine, og vandret på Jeroboams vei og i den synd som Jeroboam hadde gjort, så han fikk Israel til å synde.

because of his sins which he committed by doing the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, —by walking in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin which he committed, by causing, Israel, to sin.

20 Hvad som ellers er å fortelle om Simri og om den sammensvergelse han fikk i stand, det er opskrevet i Israels kongers krønike.

Now, the rest of the story of Zimri, and his conspiracy wherein he conspired, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

21 Da delte folket - Israel - sig i to deler; den ene halvdel av folket holdt med Tibni, Ginats sønn, og gjorde ham til konge, men den andre halvdel holdt med Omri.

Then, were the people of Israel divided, —half the people, were following Tibni son of Ginath, to make him king, and, half, following Omri.

22 Men de som holdt med Omri, fikk overhånd over dem som holdt med Tibni, Ginats sønn; og Tibni døde, og Omri blev konge.

But, the people that followed Omri, prevailed against, the people that followed Tibni son of Ginath; so that, Tibni, died, and, Omri, reigned.

23 I Asas, Judas konges en og trettiende år blev Omri konge over Israel, og han var konge i tolv år. I Tirsa regjerte han i seks år.

In the thirty-first year of Asa king of Judah, began Omri to reign over Israel [and he reigned] twelve years: in Tirzah, reigned he six years.

24 Han kjøpte Samaria-fjellet av Semer for to talenter sølv; og han bygget en by på fjellet og kalte den Samaria efter Semer, som hadde eid fjellet.

And he bought the hill Samaria, of Shemer, for two talents of silver, —and built on the hill, and called the name of the city which he built, after the name of Shemer lord of the hill—Samaria.

25 Men Omri gjorde hvad ondt var i Herrens øine; han bar sig endog verre at enn nogen av dem som hadde vært før ham.

And Omri did the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, —and did more wickedly than all who were before him;

26 Han vandret på alle Jeroboams, Nebats sønns veier og i hans synder, dem som han hadde fått Israel til å gjøre, så de vakte Herrens, Israels Guds harme ved sine tomme guder.

yea he walked in all the way of Jeroboam son of Nebat, and in his sin wherewith he caused, Israel, to sin, —provoking to anger Yahweh, God of Israel, with their vanities.

27 Hvad som ellers er å fortelle om Omri, om det han gjorde, og om de store gjerninger han utførte, det er opskrevet i Israels kongers krønike.

Now, the rest of the story of Omri, what he did, and his might that he shewed, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

28 Og Omri la sig til hvile hos sine fedre og blev begravet i Samaria, og hans sønn Akab blev konge i hans sted.

So Omri slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria, —and, Ahab his son, reigned, in his stead.

29 Akab, Omris sønn, blev konge over Israel i Asas, Judas konges åtte og trettiende år; og Akab, Omris sønn, regjerte over Israel i Samaria i to og tyve år.

Now, Ahab son of Omri, began to reign over Israel, in the thirty-eighth year of Asa king of Judah, —and Ahab son of Omri reigned over Israel, in Samaria, twenty-two years.

30 Akab, Omris sønn, gjorde hvad ondt var i Herrens øine, mere enn nogen av dem som hadde vært før ham.

And Ahab son of Omri did the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, —and did more wickedly than all that were before him.

31 Og som om det var for lite at han vandret i Jeroboams, Nebats sønns synder, tok han Jesabel, datter av sidoniernes konge Etba'al, til hustru og gav sig til å dyrke Ba'al og tilbede ham.

And it come to pass, as though it had been too light a thing that he should walk in the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel, daughter of Ethbaal, king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and bowed down to him.

32 Han opreiste et alter for Ba'al i det Ba'als-tempel han hadde bygget i Samaria.

And he reared an altar unto Baal, —in the house of Baal, which he built in Samaria.

33 Akab gjorde også et Astarte-billede, og han gjorde ennu mere til å vekke Herrens, Israels Guds harme; han bar sig verre at enn nogen av de konger i Israel som hadde vært før ham.

And Ahab made the Sacred Stem, —and Ahab did yet more to provoke to anger Yahweh God of Israel than all the kings of Israel who were before him.

34 I hans dager bygget Hiel fra Betel Jeriko op igjen; da han la dets grunnvoll, kostet det ham hans førstefødte sønn Abiram, og da han satte op dets porter, kostet det ham hans yngste sønn Segub - efter det ord som Herren hadde talt ved Josva, Nuns sønn.

In his days, did Hiel the Bethelite build Jericho, —At the price of Abiram his firstborn, he laid its foundation, and, at the price of Segub his youngest, he set up its doors, according to the word of Yahweh which he spake through Joshua son of Nun.
