1 तिनकी सासू नाओमीले तिनलाई भनिन्, “मेरी छोरी, तिम्रो भलाइको निम्ति के मैले तिमीले विश्राम गर्ने ठाउँ खोज्नु पर्दैन?
Then Naomi her mother-in-law said to her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee?
2 तिमीले जसका महिला कामदारहरूसित काम गरेकी छ्यौ उही बोअज हाम्रो कुटुम्ब होइनन् र? हेर, तिनले आज राती खलामा जौ बत्ताउनेछन् ।
And now [is] not Boaz of our kindred, with whose maidens thou wast? Behold, he winnoweth barley to-night in the threshing-floor.
3 यसकारण, नुहाऊ, तेल लगाऊ र तिम्रो उत्तम लुगा लगाऊ र तल खलामा जाऊ । तर तिनले खान र पिउन नसकेसम्म ती मानिससँग देखा नपर ।
Wash thyself therefore, and anoint thee, and put thy raiment upon thee, and go down to the floor: [but] make not thyself known to the man, until he shall have done eating and drinking.
4 तर जब तिनी सुत्छन् तिनी सुत्ने ठाउँ ख्याल गर, ताकि पछि तिमी तिनीकहाँ गएर तिनको खुट्टातिरको ओढ्ने उठाएर त्यहाँ सुत्न सक्छौ । अनि तिमीले के गर्नुपर्छ त्यो तिनले बताउनेछन् ।”
And it shall be when he lieth down, that thou shalt mark the place where he shall lie, and thou shalt go in, and uncover his feet, and lay thee down; and he will tell thee what thou shalt do.
5 रूथले नाओमीलाई भनिन्, “तपाईंले भन्नुभएका सबै कुरा म गर्छु ।”
And she said to her, All that thou sayest to me I will do.
6 त्यसैले तिनी तल खलामा गइन् र तिनले तिनकी सासूले तिनलाई दिएका निर्देशनहरूअनुसार गरिन् ।
And she went down to the floor, and did according to all that her mother-in-law bade her.
7 जब बोअजले खाए र पिए, तिनको हृदय खुसी भयो, तिनी अन्नको थुप्रोको छेउमा गएर सुते । त्यसपछि तिनी बिस्तारै आइन् र तिनको खुट्टाको ओढ्ने उठाएर सुतिन् ।
And when Boaz had eaten and drank, and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of corn: and she came softly, and uncovered his feet, and laid herself down.
8 मध्यराततिर ती मानिस झसङ्ग भए । तिनी फर्के र त्यहाँ एउटी महिला तिनको खुट्टा छेउमा सुतिरहेकी थिइन् ।
And it came to pass at midnight, that the man was afraid, and turned himself: and behold, a woman lay at his feet.
9 तिनले भने, “तिमी को हौ?” तिनले जवाफ दिइन्, “म तपाईंकी दासी रूथ हुँ । तपाईंकी दासीलाई तपाईंको खास्टो लगाइदिनुहोस्, किनकि तपाईं नजिकको कुटुम्ब हुनुहुन्छ ।”
And he said, Who [art] thou? And she answered, I [am] Ruth thy handmaid: spread therefore thy skirt over thy handmaid; for thou [art] a near kinsman.
10 बोअजले भने, “मेरी छोरी, तिमी परमप्रभुद्धारा आशिषित होऊ । तिमीले सुरुभन्दा अन्तमा अझ धैरै दया देखाएकी छ्यौ, किनभने तिमी धनी होस् वा गरीब कुनै पनि जवान मानिसको पछि लागेकी छैनौ ।
And he said, Blessed [be] thou of the LORD, my daughter: [for] thou hast shown more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as thou didst not follow young men, whether poor or rich.
11 मेरी छोरी, नडराऊ! मैले तिम्रो निम्ति तिमीले भनेकी सबै कुरा गर्छु, किनभने तिमी लायककी छ्यौ भन्ने सारा शहरका मानिसहरूले जान्दछन् ।
And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou [art] a virtuous woman.
12 म कुटम्ब हुँ भन्ने कुरा सत्य हो, तर मभन्दा नजिकका एक जना कुटुम्ब हुनुहुन्छ ।
And now it is true that I [am thy] near kinsman: yet there is a kinsman nearer than I.
13 आज राति यहीँ बस, बिहान यदि तिनले कुटम्बको कर्तव्य पुरा गर्छन् भने ठिकै छ, तिनले नै कुटुम्बको कर्तव्य पुरा गरून् । तर यदि तिनले तिम्रो निम्ति एउटा कुटुम्बको कर्तव्य पुरा गरेनन् भने त्यसपछि मैले यो गर्नेछु भनी म परमप्रभुको जीवनद्धारा शपथ खान्छु । बिहानसम्म सुत ।
Tarry this night, and it shall be in the morning, [that] if he will perform to thee the part of a kinsman, well; let him do the kinsman's part: but if he will not do the part of a kinsman to thee, then will I do the part of a kinsman to thee, [as] the LORD liveth: lie down until the morning.
14 तिनी बिहानसम्म नै तिनको खुट्टाको छेउमा सुतिरहिन् । तर तिनी एउटाले अर्को मानिसलाई चिन्न सक्ने हुनेअगि नै उठिन् । किनभने बोअजले भने, “कुनै महिला खलामा आइन् भनी कसैले थाहा नपाओस् ।”
And she lay at his feet until the morning: and she rose before one could know another. And he said, Let it not be known that a woman came to the floor.
15 त्यसपछि बोअजले भने, “तिम्रो ओढ्ने लेऊ र त्यसमा थाप ।” जब तिनले ओड्ने थापिन्, तिनले छ पाथी जति जौ नापेर दिए र तिनलाई बोकाइदिए । त्यसपछि तिनी शहरतिर गइन् ।
Also he said, Bring the vail that [thou hast] upon thee, and hold it. And when she held it, he measured six [measures] of barley, and laid [it] on her: and she went into the city.
16 जब रूथ तिनको सासूकहाँ आइन्, तिनले भनिन्, “कस्तो भयो मेरी छोरी?” अनि रूथले त्यो मानिसले भनेका सबै कुरा तिनलाई बताइन् ।
And when she came to her mother-in-law, she said, Who [art] thou, my daughter? And she told her all that the man had done to her.
17 तिनले भनिन्, “तिनले मलाई यी छ पाथी जौ दिए, किनभने तिनले भने, 'तिम्री सासूकहाँ रित्तो हात नजाऊ' ।”
And she said, These six [measures] of barley he gave me; for he said to me, Go not empty to thy mother-in-law.
18 अनि नाओमीले भनिन्, “मेरी छोरी, कुरा के हुन्छ भनी तिमीले नजानेसम्म यहीँ बस, किनभने यो कुरा आज नै नसिध्याएसम्म ती मानिसले विश्राम गर्नेछैनन् ।”
Then said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou knowest how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he hath finished the thing this day.
