रोमी 11
1 त्यसो भए म भन्छु, के परमेश्वरले आफ्ना मानिसहरूलाई इन्कार गर्नुभयो त? किनकि म पनि अब्राहामका सन्तान, बेन्यामीन कुलका एक इस्राएली हुँ ।
I ask, then, “Has God rejected his people?” Heaven forbid! For I myself am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.
2 परमेश्वरले अघिबाटै पहिचान गर्नुभएको आफ्नो जातिलाई इन्कार गर्नुभएन । एलियाको बारेमा धर्मशास्त्रले के भन्छ अर्थात् तिनले इस्राएलको बारेमा परमेश्वरसँग कसरी बिन्ती गरे भन्ने कुरा के तिमीहरूलाई थाहा छैन?
God has not rejected his people, whom he chose from the first. Have you forgotten the words of scripture in the story of Elijah – how he appeals to God against Israel?
3 “हे प्रभु, तिनीहरूले तपाईंका अगमवक्ताहरूलाई मारेका छन्, तिनीहरूले तपाईंका वेदीहरूलाई भत्काएका छन् । म मात्र छोडिएको छु, र तिनीहरूले मेरो पनि ज्यान लिन खोजी गरिरहेका छन् ।”
“Lord, they have killed your prophets, they have pulled down your altars, and I only am left; and now they are eager to take my life.”
4 तर परमेश्वरको जवाफले तिनलाई के भन्छ? “बाल देवतासामु आफ्ना घुँडा नटेकेका सात हजार मानिसलाई मेरो निम्ति साँचेर राखेको छु ।”
But what was the divine response? “I have kept for myself seven thousand who have never bowed the knee to Baal.”
5 त्यसो भए, अनुग्रहको छनोटको कारण वर्तमान समयमा पनि बाँकी रहेकाहरू छन् ।
And so in our own time, too, there is to be found a remnant of our nation selected by God in love.
6 तर यो अनुग्रहद्वारा हो भने यो कामद्वारा होइन । नत्रता अनुग्रह अनुग्रह नै हुने थिएन । (नोटः केही पुरानो प्रतिलिपिमा यस्तो छ, तर यदि यो कर्महरूद्वारा हो भने यो अनुग्रह हुँदै होइन; नत्र कर्म हुँदै हुँदैन ।)
But if in love, then it is not as a result of obedience. Otherwise love would cease to be love.
7 त्यसो भए के त? इस्राएलले जे खोजिरहेको थियो, यसले पाएन, तर चुनिएकाहरूले त्यो पाए र बाँकी रहेकाहरूलाई चाहिँ कठोर बनाइयो ।
What follows from this? Why, that Israel as a nation failed to secure what it was seeking, while those whom God selected did secure it.
8 जस्तो लेखिएको छ, “परमेश्वरले तिनीहरूलाई बोधो आत्मा दिनुभएको छ, ताकि आजको दिनसम्म पनि तिनीहरूका आँखा छन् र पनि तिनीहरूले देख्न नसकून् अनि कान छन् र पनि तिनीहरूले सुन्न नसकून् ।”
The rest grew callous; as scripture says – “God has given them a deadness of mind – eyes that are not to see and ears that are not to hear – and it is so to this very day.”
9 अनि दाऊद भन्छन्, “तिनीहरूका भोजनको टेबल तिनीहरूका निम्ति पासो, जाल, बाधा र तिनीहरूका विरुद्धमा प्रतिशोध बनोस् ।
David, too, says – “May their feasts prove a snare and a trap to them – a hindrance and a retribution;
10 तिनीहरूका आँखा अँध्यारो होस्, ताकि तिनीहरूले नदेखून् । तिनीहरूका ढाड सधैँ कुप्रो होस् ।”
may their eyes be darkened, so that they cannot see; and do you always make their backs to bend.”
11 त्यसो भए म भन्छु, “के तिनीहरू पतन हुनका लागि ठक्कर खाएका हुन्?” त्यस्तो कहिले नहोस् । बरु, तिनीहरूका असफलताद्वारा तिनीहरूलाई डाही तुल्याउनको निम्ति गैरयहूदीहरूकहाँ मुक्ति आएको छ ।
I ask then – “Was their stumbling to result in their fall?” Heaven forbid! On the contrary, through their falling away salvation has reached the Gentiles, to stir the rivalry of Israel.
12 अब यदि तिनीहरूको असफलता संसारको निम्ति धन हो र यदि तिनीहरूको नोक्सानी गैरयहूदीहरूका निम्ति लाभ हो भने, तिनीहरूको पूर्णता झनै कति ठुलो हुन्छ होला?
And, if their falling away has enriched the world, and their failure has enriched the Gentiles, how much more will result from their full restoration!
13 अनि अहिले म गैरयहूदीहरूसँग बोलिरहेको छु । जबसम्म म गैरयहूदीहरूको प्रेरित हुन्छु, म मेरो सेवा-कार्यमा गर्व गर्छु ।
But I am speaking to you who were Gentiles.
14 सायद मेरा आफ्नैहरूलाई म डाही तुल्याउनेछु । सायद हामीले तिनीहरूमध्ये केहीलाई बचाउनेछौँ ।
Being myself an apostle to the Gentiles, I exalt my office, in the hope that I may stir my countrymen to rivalry, and so save some of them.
15 किनकि यदि तिनीहरूको इन्कार संसारको मिलाप हो भने, तिनीहरूको स्वीकार मृतकहरूबाट जीवित पारिनुबाहेक के हुनेछ र?
For, if their being cast aside has meant the reconciliation of the world, what will their reception mean, but life from the dead?
16 यदि अगौटे फलहरूलाई बचाएर राखिन्छ भने मुछेको पिठोको ढिक्कालाई पनि त्यसै गरिन्छ । यदि जरालाई बचाएर राखिन्छ भने हाँगाहरूलाई पनि त्यसै गरिन्छ ।
If the first handful of dough is holy, so is the whole mass, and if the root is holy, so are the branches.
17 तर यदि केही हाँगाहरू भाँचिएका थिए भने तिमी जङ्गली जैतूनको हाँगालाई तिनीहरूसँग कलमी बाँधिएका थियौ भने, र तिमीहरू जैतूनको उर्बर जरामा तिनीहरूसँग सहभागी भयौ भने
Some, however, of the branches were broken off, and you, who were only a wild olive, were grafted in among them, and came to share with them the root which is the source of the richness of the cultivated olive.
18 हाँगाहरू भएकोमा घमण्ड नगर । तर यदि तिमीले गर्व गर्छौ भने, जरालाई थाम्ने तिमी होइनौ, तर जराले तिमीलाई थाम्छ ।
Yet do not exult over the other branches. But, if you do exult over them, remember that you do not support the root, but that the root supports you.
19 तब तिमीले भन्नेछौ, “हाँगाहरू भाँचिएका थिए, ताकि ममा कलमी बाँधियोस् ।”
But branches, you will say, were broken off, so that I might be grafted in.
20 त्यो सत्य हो । तिनीहरूको अविश्वासले तिनीहरू काटिए, तर तिमीहरू तिमीहरूको विश्वासले खडा छौ । आफैँलाई अति उच्च नठान, तर भय मान ।
True, it was because of their want of faith that they were broken off, and it is because of your faith that you are standing. Do not think too highly of yourself, but beware.
21 किनकि परमेश्वरले प्राकृतिक हाँगाहरूलाई त छोड्नुभएन भने, उहाँले तिमीहरूलाई पनि छोड्नुहुनेछैन ।
For, if God did not spare the natural branches, neither will he spare you.
22 तब परमेश्वरको दयाका कामहरू र कठोरतालाई हेर । एकातिर, पतन भएका यहूदीहरूमाथि परमेश्वरको कठोरता आइपर्यो । तर अर्कोतिर, यदि तिमीहरू उहाँको भलाइमा लागिरह्यौ भने तिमीहरूमाथि परमेश्वरको भलाइ आउँछ । नत्रता तिमीहरू पनि काटिनेछौ ।
See, then, both the goodness and the severity of God – his severity towards those who fell, and his goodness towards you, provided that you continue to confide in that goodness; otherwise you, also, will be cut off.
23 अनि त्यसरी नै, यदि तिनीहरू आफ्ना अविश्वासमा लागिरहँदैनन् भने तिनीहरू पुनः कलमी बाँधिनेछन् ।
And they, too, if they do not continue in their unbelief, will be grafted in; for God has it in his power to graft them in again.
24 यदि तिमीहरू स्वभावैले जङ्गली जैतूनबाट काटियौ र आफ्नो स्वभाव विपरीत असल जैतूनमा कलमी बाँधियौ भने, यी यहूदीहरू जो प्राकृतिक हाँगाहरू हुन्, यिनीहरू आफ्नै जैतूनको रुखमा कति धेरै कलमी बाँधिनेछन्?
If you were cut off from your natural stock – a wild olive – and were grafted, contrary to the course of nature, on a good olive, much more will they – the natural branches – be grafted back into their parent tree.
25 किनकि भाइहरू हो, तिमीहरू यो रहस्यबारे अन्जान रहो भन्ने म चाहन्नँ, ताकि तिमीहरू आफ्नै विचारमा बुद्धिमानी नहोऊ । यो रहस्यचाहिँ गैरयहूदीहरू आउने काम पुरा नभएसम्म इस्राएलमा आंशिक रूपमा कठोर पार्ने काम भएको छ ।
My friends, so that you don’t think too highly of yourselves, I want you to recognise the truth, hitherto hidden, that the callousness which has come over Israel is only partial, and will continue only until the whole Gentile world has been gathered in.
26 त्यसैले, सबै इस्राएली बचाइनेछन् जस्तो लेखिएको छ, “सियोनबाट एक जना उद्धारकर्ता आउनुहुनेछ । उहाँले याकूबबाट सबै अधर्महरू हटाइदिनुहुनेछ ।
And then all Israel will be saved. As scripture says – “From Zion will come the Deliverer; he will banish ungodliness from Jacob.
27 अनि तिमीहरूसँग मेरो करार यही हुनेछ, जब म तिनीहरूका पापहरू उठाई लानेछु ।”
And they will see the fulfilment of my covenant, when I have taken away their sins.”
28 एकातिर, सुसमाचारको सम्बन्धमा तिमीहरूका तर्फबाट तिनीहरू शत्रु हुन् । अर्कोतिर, परमेश्वरको चुनाउअनुसार पुर्खाहरूको खातिर तिनीहरू प्रियहरू हुन् ।
From the standpoint of the good news, the Jews are God’s enemies for your sake; but from the standpoint of God’s selection, they are dear to him for the sake of the patriarchs.
29 किनकि परमेश्वरका वरदानहरू र बोलावट अपरिवर्तनशील हुन्छन् ।
For God never regrets his gifts or his call.
30 किनकि तिमीहरू पहिला परमेश्वरप्रति अनाज्ञाकारी थियौ, तर तिनीहरूका अनाज्ञाकारिताले अहिले तिमीहरूले दया प्राप्त गरेका छौ ।
Just as you at one time were disobedient to him, but have now found mercy in the day of their disobedience;
31 त्यसरी नै, अहिले यी यहूदीहरू अनाज्ञाकारी भएका छन्, ताकि तिमीहरूलाई देखाइएको दयाद्वारा तिनीहरूले पनि दया प्राप्त गर्न सकून् ।
so, too, they have now become disobedient in your day of mercy, in order that they also in their turn may now find mercy.
32 किनकि परमेश्वरले सबैलाई अनाज्ञाकारिताभित्र बन्द गर्नुभएको छ, ताकि उहाँले सबैलाई दया देखाउन सक्नुभएको होस् । (eleēsē g1653)
For God has given all alike over to disobedience, that to all alike he may show mercy. (eleēsē g1653)
33 ओहो! परमेश्वरका बुद्धि र ज्ञान दुवै कति गहन! उहाँका न्यायहरू कति अगम्य र उहाँका मार्गहरू खोज्न नै नसकिने छन्!
Oh! The unfathomable wisdom and knowledge of God! How inscrutable are his judgments, how untraceable his ways! Yes –
34 “किनकि परमेश्वरको मनलाई कसले जानेको छ र? अथवा उहाँको सल्लाहकार को भएको छ र?
ho has ever comprehended the mind of the Lord? Who has ever become his counsellor?
35 अथवा कसले परमेश्वरलाई पहिले कुनै कुरा दिएको छ, ताकि त्यसलाई यो फर्काइयोस्?”
Or who has first given to him, so that he may claim a reward?
