हितोपदेश 4
1 हे मेरा छोराहरू हो, बुबाको निर्देशन सुन, र ध्यान देओ ताकि समझशक्ति के रहेछ भनी तिमीहरूले जान्न सक ।
Listen, sons, to a father's instruction; pay attention and discover what makes sense,
2 म तिमीहरूलाई असल निर्देशनहरू दिँदै छु । मेरो शिक्षालाई नत्याग ।
for what I am passing on to you is reliable. Don't reject my teachings.
3 म मेरो बुबाको छोरो हुँदा, मेरी आमाको कोमल र एक मात्र सन्तान हुँदा,
When I was a son with my father—a tender young boy, my mother's only child—
4 उहाँले मलाई सिकाउनुभयो, र भन्नुभयो, “तेरो हृदयले मेरा वचनहरू पक्रिराख् । मेरा आज्ञाहरू पालन गरेर बाँच् ।
he was the one who taught me. He told me, “Pay attention to the words I say and keep them in mind; do what I tell you and you will live.
5 बुद्धि र समझशक्ति प्राप्त गर् । मेरो मुखका वचनहरूलाई नबिर्सी र इन्कार नगर् ।
Get wisdom, find out what makes sense. Don't forget my words or reject them.
6 बुद्धिलाई नत्याग् र त्यसले तेरो निगरानी गर्ने छ । त्यसलाई प्रेम गर्, र त्यसले तँलाई सुरक्षा दिने छ ।
Don't give up on wisdom for she will keep you safe. Love wisdom and she will protect you.
7 बुद्धि सबैभन्दा महत्त्वपूर्ण वस्तु हो । त्यसैले बुद्धि प्राप्त गर्, र समझशक्ति प्राप्त गर्न सबै मूल्य चुका ।
The first thing in becoming wise is to get wisdom! Whatever else you gain, gain insight.
8 बुद्धिलाई कदर गर्, र त्यसले तँलाई माथि उठाउने छ । तैँले त्यसलाई अङ्गाल्दा त्यसले तेरो इज्जत गर्ने छ ।
Treasure wisdom, and she will praise you; embrace her, and she will honor you.
9 बुद्धिले तेरो शिरमा आदरको माला पहिराइदिने छ । त्यसले तँलाई सुन्दर मुकुट दिने छ ।”
She will place on your head a wreath of grace; she will present to you a crown of glory.”
10 हे मेरो छोरो, मेरा वचनहरू सुन्, र तिनलाई ध्यान दे, अनि तेरो जीवनको आयु लामो हुने छ ।
Listen, my son, if you accept what I tell you, then you will live a long life.
11 म तँलाई बुद्धिको बाटोमा लैजान्छु । म तँलाई सिधा बाटाहरूमा अगुवाइ गर्छु ।
I have explained to you the way of wisdom; I have guided you along the right paths.
12 तँ हिँड्दा तेरो बाटोमा कोही खडा हुने छैन, र तँ दौडिस् भने पनि ठक्कर खाने छैनस् ।
Nothing will block your way when you walk, you won't stumble when you run.
13 निर्देशनलाई समातेर राख्; यसलाई जान नदे । यसलाई पहरा दे, किनकि यो तेरो जीवन हो ।
Hold on to these instructions—don't let them go. Protect them, for they are life's foundation.
14 दुष्टहरूको चालमा नहिँड् र खराबी गर्नेहरूको मार्गमा नजा ।
Don't go the way of the wicked or follow the example of those who do evil.
15 त्यसलाई त्यागिदे; त्यसमा नहिँड् । त्यसबाट फर्केर अर्को बाटो लाग् ।
Avoid that way completely. Don't go there! Turn away, and walk on.
16 किनकि तिनीहरूले खराबी नगरेसम्म तिनीहरू सुत्न सक्दैनन्, र तिनीहरूले कसैलाई नलडाएसम्म तिनीहरूलाई निन्द्रै लाग्दैन ।
Evil people won't rest until they've done something wrong; they can't sleep unless they've tripped someone up.
17 किनकि तिनीहरूले दुष्टताको रोटी खान्छन्, र हिंसाको मद्य पिउँछन् ।
For they eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence.
18 तर धर्मी मानिसहरूको मार्ग प्रभातको पहिलो किरणजस्तै हो । मध्यदिन नआएसम्म यो झन्-झन् चम्किलो हुन्छ ।
The way of life of the good is like the light of the sunrise, glowing brighter and brighter until the full light of day shines out.
19 दुष्टहरूको मार्ग अन्धकारजस्तै छ । तिनीहरू केमा ठक्कर खान्छन् भनी तिनीहरूलाई थाहै हुँदैन ।
But the way of life of the wicked is like complete darkness; they don't even know what they're tripping over.
20 हे मेरो छोरो, मेरा वचनहरूलाई ध्यान दे । मेरा भनाइहरू सुन्न तेरो कान थाप ।
My son, pay attention to what I tell you; listen to the words I'm saying.
21 तेरो नजरबाट तिनलाई उम्केर जान नदे । तिनलाई तेरो हृदयमा राख् ।
Don't lose sight of them; think about them deeply,
22 किनकि मेरा वचनहरू पाउनेका लागि ती जीवन हुन्, र तिनीहरूको पुरै शरीरको लागि स्वास्थ्य हो ।
for they are life to anyone who finds them, and make the whole body healthy.
23 तेरो हृदयलाई सुरक्षित राख्, र पुरा मेहनतसाथ यसको रक्षा गर्, किनकि यसबाट नै जीवनका मूलहरू उम्रन्छन् ।
Most of all, protect your mind, for everything in life flows from it.
24 कुवाक्यलाई तँबाट पर राख्, र भ्रष्ट कुराकानीलाई तँबाट टाढा राख् ।
Don't ever lie, and don't say anything dishonest.
25 तेरा आँखाले सिधा अगाडि हेरून्, र तेरो अगिल्तिर सिधा एकटक लगाएर हेर् ।
Focus on what's ahead of you; look at what's in front of you.
26 तेरो खुट्टाको लागि नैतिकताको मार्ग बना । तब तेरा सबै मार्गहरू सुरक्षित हुने छन् ।
Pay attention to the path you decide to follow, and you'll be safe wherever you go.
27 दाहिने वा देब्रेतिर नलाग् । खराबीबाट तेरो चाललाई फर्का ।
Don't deviate to the right or the left, and turn away from evil.
