हितोपदेश 16
1 हृदयका योजनाहरू मानिसका हुन्, तर जिब्रोको जवाफ परमप्रभुबाट नै आउँछ ।
To man, belong the preparations of the heart, but, from Yahweh, cometh the answer of the tongue.
2 मानिसका सबै मार्ग उसको आफ्नै दृष्टिमा शुद्ध छन्, तर परमप्रभुले अभिप्रायहरू जोख्नुहुन्छ ।
All the ways of a man, [may be] pure in his own eyes, but, he that testeth spirits, is Yahweh.
3 आफ्ना कामहरू परमप्रभुमा सुम्प, र तिम्रा योजनाहरू सफल हुने छन् ।
Roll, upon Yahweh, thy doings, that thy plans, may be established.
4 परमप्रभुले हरेक थोक यसको आफ्नो उद्धेश्यको लागि बनाउनुभएको छ । उहाँले दुष्टहरूलाई समेत विनाशको दिनको लागि राख्नुभएको छ ।
Everything, hath Yahweh made for its own purpose, yea, even the lawless one, for the day of calamity.
5 अहङ्कारी हृदय भएको हरेकलाई परमप्रभु घृणा गर्नुहुन्छ, तर यो निश्चित छ, कि तिनीहरू दण्डविना उम्कने छैनन् ।
An abomination to Yahweh, is every one who is haughty in heart, hand to hand, he shall not be held innocent.
6 करारको विश्वसनियता र भरोसाद्वारा अधर्मको प्रायश्चित्त हुन्छ, र परमप्रभुको भयद्वारा मानिसहरू खराबीबाट तर्कने छन् ।
By lovingkindness and fidelity, shall iniquity be covered, and, in the revering of Yahweh, is a turning away from wrong.
7 जब मानिसका मार्गहरूले परमप्रभुलाई खुसी पार्छन्, तब उहाँले त्यसका शत्रुहरूलाई पनि त्यससित मिलापमा राख्नुहुने छ ।
When, acceptable to Yahweh, are the ways of a man, even his enemies, doth he cause to make peace with him.
8 अन्यायसित कमाएको धेरै धन-सम्पत्तिभन्दा बरु ठिकसित कमाएको थोरै नै उत्तम हुन्छ ।
Better a little with righteousness, than large revenues, without justice.
9 मानिसले आफ्नो हृदयमा योजना बुन्छ, तर परमप्रभुले नै त्यसका कदमहरू निर्धारण गर्नुहुन्छ ।
A man’s heart, deviseth his way, but, Yahweh, directeth his steps.
10 राजाको ओठमा अन्तर्ज्ञानयुक्त निर्णयहरू हुन्छन् । तिनको मुखले न्यायलाई धोका दिनुहुँदैन ।
An oracle, is on the lips of a king, in giving sentence, his mouth must not be unfaithful.
11 इमानदार तराजु परमप्रभुबाट आउँछ । थैलीमा भएका सबै ढक उहाँका काम हुन् ।
The balance and scales of justice, belong to Yahweh, and, his handiwork, are all the weights of the bag.
12 राजाले दुष्ट कामहरू गर्दा त्यसलाई तुच्छ ठानिनुपर्छ, किनकि ठिक गरेर नै सिंहासन स्थापित हुन्छ ।
The abomination of kings, is to work lawlessness, for, by righteousness, is established a throne.
13 ठिक बोल्ने ओठमा राजा आनन्दित हुन्छ, र सत्य बोल्ने व्यक्तिलाई तिनी प्रेम गर्छन् ।
The delight of kings, are lips of righteousness, —and, the words of uprightness, he loveth.
14 राजाको क्रोध मृत्युको दूत हो, तर बुद्धिमान् मानिसले तिनको रिसलाई शान्त पार्ने कोसिस गर्छ ।
The wrath of a king, [meaneth] messengers of death, but, a man who is wise, will appease it.
15 राजाको मुहारको ज्योतिमा जीवन हुन्छ, र तिनको निगाह वसन्त ऋतुमा झरी ल्याउने बादलजस्तै हो ।
In the light of a king’s countenance, is life, and, his good-pleasure, is like the cloud of harvest-rain.
16 सुनभन्दा बुद्धि प्राप्त गर्नु र चाँदीभन्दा समझशक्ति प्राप्त गर्नु उत्तम हुन्छ ।
To acquire wisdom, how much better than gold! and, to get hold of understanding, more choice than silver!
17 धर्मी मानिसहरूको लोकमार्ग खराबीबाट अलग रहन्छ । आफ्नो जीवनको रक्षा गर्नेले आफ्नो मार्गको रखवाली गर्छ ।
The highway of the upright, is to avoid evil, He preserveth his soul, who guardeth his way.
18 विनाशअगि घमण्ड आउँछ, र पतनअगि हठी आत्मा आउँछ ।
Before grievous injury, pride! and, before a fall, haughtiness of spirit!
19 घमण्डी मानिसहरूलाई लुटको माल बाँड्नुभन्दा बरु गरिब मानिसहरूका बिचमा विनम्र हुनु उत्तम हुन्छ ।
Better is lowliness of spirit, with the patient, than a portion of spoil, with the proud.
20 सिकाइएको शिक्षामा मनन गर्नेले असल कुरो पाउने छ, र परमप्रभुमाथि भरोसा गर्नेहरू आशिषित् हुने छन् ।
He that showeth discretion concerning a matter, shall find good, and, he that trusteth in Yahweh, how happy is he!
21 हृदयमा बुद्धिमान् हुनेलाई विवेकशील भनिन्छ, र मिठा बोलीवचनले सिकाउने क्षमताको विकास गर्छ ।
The wise in heart, shall be called intelligent, and, sweetness of lips, increaseth persuasiveness.
22 समझशक्ति भएको व्यक्तिको लागि त्यो जीवनको फुहारा हो, तर मूर्खहरूको अर्ती नै तिनीहरूको मूर्खता हो ।
A well-spring of life, is discretion to its owner, but, the correction of the foolish, is folly.
23 बुद्धिमान् व्यक्तिको हृदयले उसको मुखलाई अन्तर्दृष्टि प्रदान गर्छ, र उसको ओठमा विश्वसनीयता थप्छ ।
The heart of the wise, giveth discretion to his mouth, and, upon his lips, increaseth persuasiveness.
24 मिठा वचनहरू महका चाकाजस्ता हुन्, जुन प्राणको लागि मिठो हुन्छ, र हड्डीहरूका लागि चङ्गाइ हुन्छ ।
A comb of honey, are pleasant words, sweet to the taste and healing to the bone.
25 कुनै बाटो मानिसलाई सिधाजस्तो लाग्ला, तर अन्त्यमा त्यसले मृत्युमा पुर्याउँछ ।
There is a way that enticeth a man, but, at the latter end thereof, are the ways of death.
26 परिश्रमीको पेटले नै त्यसलाई काम गर्न लगाउँछ । त्यसको भोकले त्यसलाई अभिप्रेरित गर्छ ।
The appetite of the toiler, hath toiled for him, for his mouth, hath urged him on.
27 बेकम्मा मानिसले खराबीको खाल्डो खन्छ, र त्यसको बोलीवचन पोल्ने आगोझैँ हुन्छ ।
An abandoned man, diggeth up mischief, —and, upon his lips, as it were a fire is scorching.
28 टेडो मानिसले द्वन्द्व निम्त्याउँछ, र कुरा काट्नाले घनिष्ठ मित्रहरूमा पनि फाटो आउँछ ।
A perverse man, sendeth forth strife, and, a tattler, separateth intimate friends.
29 हिंसा गर्ने मानिसले आफ्नो छिमेकीलाई झुट बोल्छ, र त्यसलाई बेठिक मार्गमा लैजान्छ ।
A ruthless man, enticeth his neighbour, and leadeth him in a way, not good.
30 द्वेषपूर्ण आँखा झिम्क्याउनेले टेडो षड्यन्त्र रचिरहेको हुन्छ । आफ्नो ओठ लेब्र्याउनेले खराबी ल्याउँछ ।
Closing his eyes, to devise perverse things, biting his lips, he hath plotted mischief.
31 फुलेको कपाल शोभाको मुकुट हो । ठिक तरिकाले जिएर यसलाई प्राप्त गर्न सकिन्छ ।
A crown of adorning, is a hoary head, in the way of righteousness, it should be found.
32 योद्धा हुनुभन्दा बरु रिसाउनमा धिमा हुनु उत्तम हुन्छ, र आफ्नो आत्मालाई नियन्त्रण गर्नेचाहिँ सहरमाथि विजयी हासिल गर्नेभन्दा बलियो हुन्छ ।
Better he that is slow to anger, than a hero, and he that ruleth his spirit, than he that captureth a city.
33 सप्कोमा चिट्ठा त हालिन्छ, तर निर्णयचाहिँ परमप्रभुबाट नै आउँछ ।
Into the lap, is cast the lot, but, from Yahweh, is its every decision.
