हितोपदेश 15
1 विनम्र जवाफले क्रोधलाई हटाउँछ, तर कठोर वचनले रिस उठाउँछ ।
A soft answere putteth away wrath: but grieuous wordes stirre vp anger.
2 बुद्धिमान् मानिसहरूको जिब्रोले ज्ञानको तारिफ गर्छ, तर मूर्खहरूको मुखले मूर्खता खन्याउँछ ।
The tongue of the wise vseth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fooles babbleth out foolishnesse.
3 परमप्रभुको दृष्टि जताततै छ । उहाँले दुष्ट र असलमाथि नजर लगाउनुहुन्छ ।
The eyes of the Lord in euery place beholde the euill and the good.
4 निको पार्ने जिब्रो जीवनको रुख हो, तर छलपूर्ण जिब्रोले आत्मालाई चोट पुर्याउँछ ।
A wholesome tongue is as a tree of life: but the frowardnes therof is the breaking of ye minde.
5 मूर्खले आफ्नो बुबाको अर्तीलाई हेला गर्छ, तर सुधारबाट सिक्नेचाहिँ विवेकशील हो ।
A foole despiseth his fathers instruction: but he that regardeth correction, is prudent.
6 धर्मात्माको घरमा ठुलो खजाना हुन्छ, तर दुष्ट मानिसको कमाइले त्यसलाई कष्ट दिन्छ ।
The house of the righteous hath much treasure: but in the reuenues of the wicked is trouble.
7 बुद्धिमान् मानिसहरूको ओठले चारैतिर ज्ञान फैलाउँछ, तर मूर्खहरूको हृदय त्यस्तो हुँदैन ।
The lippes of the wise doe spread abroade knowledge: but ye heart of the foolish doth not so.
8 परमप्रभुले दुष्ट मानिसहरूको बलिदानलाई घृणा गर्नुहुन्छ, तर धर्मी मानिसहरूको प्रार्थना उहाँको आनन्द हो ।
The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination to the Lord: but the prayer of the righteous is acceptable vnto him.
9 परमप्रभुले दुष्ट मानिसहरूको मार्गलाई घृणा गर्नुहुन्छ, तर ठिक कुराको पछि लाग्नेलाई उहाँले प्रेम गर्नुहुन्छ ।
The way of the wicked is an abomination vnto the Lord: but he loueth him that followeth righteousnes.
10 कठोर अनुशासनले आफ्नो बाटो त्याग्नेको प्रतीक्षा गर्छ, र सुधारलाई घृणा गर्नेचाहिँ मर्ने छ ।
Instruction is euill to him that forsaketh the way, and he that hateth correction, shall die.
Hell and destruction are before the Lord: how much more the hearts of the sonnes of men? (Sheol h7585)
12 गिल्ला गर्ने सुधारदेखि अप्रसन्न हुन्छ । त्यो बुद्धिमान्कहाँ जाँदैन ।
A scorner loueth not him that rebuketh him, neither will he goe vnto the wise.
13 आनन्दित हृदयले मुहारलाई हँसिलो बनाउँछ, तर हृदयको पिरले आत्मालाई चोट पुर्याउँछ ।
A ioyfull heart maketh a chearefull countenance: but by the sorow of the heart the minde is heauie.
14 विवेशकशीलहरूको हृदयले ज्ञानको खोजी गर्छ, तर मूर्खहरूको मुखले मूर्खता नै रुचाउँछ ।
The heart of him that hath vnderstanding, seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of the foole is fedde with foolishnes.
15 थिचोमिचोमा परेकाहरूका सबै दिन दुःखद हुन्छन्, तर आनन्दित हृदयको सुखको अन्त्य हुँदैन ।
All the dayes of the afflicted are euill: but a good conscience is a continuall feast.
16 भ्रमको साथ धेरै धन-सम्पत्ति हुनुभन्दा बरु परमप्रभुको भयको साथ थोरै हुनु उत्तम हो ।
Better is a litle with the feare of the Lord, then great treasure, and trouble therewith.
17 घृणा भएको ठाउँमा पुष्टाइएको बाछो खानुभन्दा बरु प्रेम भएको ठाउँमा सागसब्जी खानु उत्तम हो ।
Better is a dinner of greene herbes where loue is, then a stalled oxe and hatred therewith.
18 रिसाएको मानिसले तर्क-वितर्क गर्छ, तर रिसाउनमा धिमा व्यक्तिले झगडालाई शान्त पार्छ ।
An angrie man stirreth vp strife: but hee that is slowe to wrath, appeaseth strife.
19 अल्छेको बाटो काँढाको छेकबार भएको ठाउँझैँ हुन्छ, तर धर्मीको बाटो निर्मित लोकमार्ग हो ।
The way of a slouthfull man is as an hedge of thornes: but the way of the righteous is plaine.
20 बुद्धिमान् छोरोले आफ्नो बुबालाई आनन्द दिन्छ, तर मूर्ख व्यक्तिले आफ्नी आमालाई तुच्छ ठान्छ ।
A wise sonne reioyceth the father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother.
21 मूर्खताले बेसमझको मानिसलाई आनन्द दिन्छ, तर समझशक्ति भएको मानिस सिधा बाटोमा हिँड्छ ।
Foolishnes is ioy to him that is destitute of vnderstanding: but a man of vnderstanding walketh vprightly.
22 सरसल्लाह नहुँदा योजनाहरू गलत हुन्छन्, तर धेरै परामर्शदाताहरूद्वारा तिनीहरू सफल हुन्छन् ।
Without cousel thoughts come to nought: but in the multitude of counsellers there is stedfastnesse.
23 उचित जवाफ दिँदा मानिसले आनन्द पाउँछ । ठिक समयमा बोलिएको वचन कति असल हुन्छ!
A ioy commeth to a man by the answere of his mouth: and how good is a word in due season?
24 जीवनको मार्गले विवेकशील मानिसहरूलाई उँभोतिर लैजान्छ । यसले तिनीहरूलाई उँधो पातालतिर जानदेखि फर्काउँछ । (Sheol h7585)
The way of life is on high to the prudent, to auoyde from hell beneath. (Sheol h7585)
25 परमप्रभुले अहङ्कारीको घर भत्काइदिनुहुन्छ, तर विधवाको सम्पत्तिको रक्षा गर्नुहुन्छ ।
The Lord will destroye the house of the proude men: but hee will stablish the borders of the widowe.
26 परमप्रभुले दुष्ट मानिसहरूको विचारलाई घृणा गर्नुहुन्छ, तर दयाका वचनहरू शुद्ध हुन्छन् ।
The thoughts of ye wicked are abomination to the Lord: but the pure haue pleasant wordes.
27 चोरी गर्नेले आफ्नो परिवारमा सङ्कष्ट ल्याउँछ, तर घुसलाई घृणा गर्नेचाहिँ बाँच्ने छ ।
He that is greedie of gaine, troubleth his owne house: but he that hateth giftes, shall liue.
28 जवाफ दिनुअगि धर्मात्माको हृदयले मनन गर्छ, तर दुष्ट मानिसको मुखले आफ्नो सबै खराबी ओकल्छ ।
The heart of the righteous studieth to answere: but the wicked mans mouth babbleth euil thinges.
29 दुष्ट मानिसहरूबाट परमप्रभु निकै टाढा हुनुहुन्छ, तर उहाँले धर्मी मानिसहरूको प्रार्थना सुन्नुहुन्छ ।
The Lord is farre off from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.
30 आँखाको ज्योतिले हृदयमा आनन्द ल्याउँछ, र शुभ खबर शरीरको लागि स्वास्थ्य हो ।
The light of the eyes reioyceth the heart, and a good name maketh the bones fat.
31 कसरी जिउने भनी कसैले तिमीलाई सुधार गर्दा तिमीले ध्यान दियौ भने तिमी बुद्धिमान् मानिसहरूका बिचमा रहने छौ ।
The eare that hearkeneth to the correction of life, shall lodge among the wise.
32 अनुशासनलाई इन्कार गर्नेले आफैलाई तुच्छ ठान्छ, तर सुधारलाई ध्यान दिनेले समझशक्ति पाउँछ ।
Hee that refuseth instruction, despiseth his owne soule: but he that obeyeth correction, getteth vnderstanding.
33 परमप्रभुको भयले बुद्धि सिकाउँछ, र आदरअगि विनम्रता आउँछ ।
The feare of the Lord is the instruction of wisdome: and before honour, goeth humilitie.
