गन्ती 21
1 जब नेगेवमा बस्ने आरादका कनानी राजाले इस्राएल अटारीमको बाटो भएर यात्रा गरिरहेको थियो भन्ने सुने, तिनले इस्राएलसँग लडाइँ लडे र केहीलाई बन्दी बनाए ।
And when the Canaanite, the king of 'Arad, who dwelt in the south, heard that Israel was coming by the way of the spies: he made an attack on Israel, and took from them some prisoners.
2 इस्राएलले परमप्रभुसँग भाकल गरेर भने, “यदि तपाईंले हामीलाई यी मानिसहरूमाथि वजय दिनुभयो भने, हामी तिनीहरूका सहरहरूलाई पूर्ण रूपमा नष्ट पार्ने छौँ ।”
And Israel made a vow unto the Lord, and said, If thou wilt but deliver this people into my hand, then will I devote their cities.
3 परमप्रभुले इस्राएलको आवाज सुन्नुभयो र उहाँले कनानीहरूमाथि विजय दिनुभयो ।
And the Lord hearkened to the voice of Israel, and he delivered up the Canaanites; and they devoted them and their cities: and they called the name of the place Chormah.
4 तिनीहरूले तिनीहरूलाई र तिनीहरूका सहरलाई पूर्ण रूपमा नष्ट गरे । त्यस ठाउँको नाउँ होर्मा राखियो । तिनीहरूले एदोमको भूमिलाई फेरो मारेर नर्कटको समुद्रको बाटो हुँदै होर पर्वतबाट गए । बाटोमा मानिसहरू अति निरुत्साहित भए ।
And they set forward from mount Hor by the way to the Red Sea, to go round the land of Edom: and the spirit of the people became impatient because of the way.
5 मानिसहरू परमेश्वर र मोशा विरुद्ध बोले, “मरुभूमिमा मर्न तपाईंले हामीलाई मिश्रबाट किन ल्याउनुभयो? यहाँ रोटी छैन, पानी पनि छैन अनि यो घृणास्पद खाना हामी घृणा गर्छौं ।”
And the people spoke against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, and there is no water; and our soul loatheth this miserable bread.
6 परमप्रभुले मानिसहरू माझ विषालु सर्पहरू पठाइदिनुभयो । सर्पहरूले मानिसहरूलाई डसे, र धेरै मानिसहरू मरे ।
And the Lord let loose against the people poisonous serpents, and they bit the people; and there died much people of Israel.
7 मानिसहरू मोशाकहाँ आएर भने, “हामीले पाप गरेका छौँ, किनभने हामीले परमप्रभु र तपाईंको विरुद्ध बोलेका छौँ । सर्पहरूलाई हामीबाट हटाउनलाई उहाँसँग बिन्ती गर्नुहोस् ।” यसैले मोशाले मानिसहरूका निम्ति प्रार्थना गरे ।
And the people then came to Moses, and they said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the Lord, and against thee; pray unto the Lord, that he take away from us the serpents. And Moses prayed for the people.
8 परमप्रभुले मोशालाई भन्नुभयो, “एउटा सर्प बना र यसलाई खामामा झुण्ड्या । सर्पले डसेकाहरू ज-जसले यसलाई हेर्छन् तिनीहरू सबै बाँच्ने छन् ।”
And the Lord said unto Moses, Make thyself a serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that whoever is bitten shall look at it, and he shall live.
9 यसैले मोशाले काँसाको एउटा सर्प बनाए र त्यसलाई खामामा झुण्ड्याए । जब सर्पले कसैलाई डस्थ्यो, त्यसले काँसाको सर्पमा हरेमा त्यो बाँच्थ्यो ।
And Moses made a serpent of copper, and put it upon a pole; and it came to pass, that, when a serpent had bitten any man, and he looked up to the serpent of copper, he remained alive.
10 त्यसपछि मानिसहरूले यात्रा गरे र ओबोतमा छाउनी लगाए ।
And the children of Israel set forward, and encamped in Oboth.
11 तिनीहरू ओबोतबाट गए र मोआबको पूर्वतिर पर्ने इये-अबारीमको मरुभूमिमा छाउनी लगाए ।
And they journeyed from Oboth, and encamped at 'Iye-ha'abarim, in the wilderness, which is before Moab, toward the rising of the sun.
12 तिनीहरू त्यहाँबाट यात्रा गरे र जेरेदको बेँसीमा छाउनी लगाए ।
From there they set forward and encamped in the valley of Zered.
13 तिनीहरूले त्यहाँबाट यात्रा गरे र अर्नोन खोलाको पारिपट्टि छाउनी लगाए, जुन मरुभूमिमा छ र एमोरीहरूको सिमानसम्म नै फैलिएको छ । अर्नोन खोलाले मोआब र एमोरीहरूबिच सिमानाको काम गर्छ ।
From there they set forward, and encamped on the other side of Arnon, which is in the wilderness, and which cometh out of the boundary of the Emorites; for Arnon is the border of Moab, between Moab and between the Emorites.
14 त्यसैले परमप्रभुको युद्धको पुस्तकमा यस्तो लेखिएको छ, “सूपाको वाहेब र अर्ननोनका बेँसीहरू,
Therefore mention is made in the book of the wars of the Lord, of Vaheb in Supha, and of the brooks of Arnon,
15 बेँसीका ओह्रालाहरू, जो आरको सहरतिर लाग्छन् र मोआबको सिमानसम्म पुग्छन् ।”
And the descent of the brooks, that turneth toward Shebeth-'Ar, and leaneth upon the border of Moab;
16 तिनीहरूले त्यहाँबाट बेओरसम्म यात्रा गरे । त्यो इनारमा परमप्रभुले मोशालाई भन्नुभयो, “मानिसहरूलाई भेला गर् र म तिनीहरूलाई पानी दिन्छु ।”
And from there to the well; this is the well where the Lord said unto Moses, Assemble the people and I will give them water.
17 त्यसपछि इस्राएलले यो गीत गायो, “इनारको मूल फुटेर निस्क्यो! यसको गीत गाओ,
Then did Israel sing this song, Come up, O well; sing ye unto it:
18 हाम्रा अगुवाहरूले खनेका इनारबारे मानिसहरूका भारदारहरूले खनेका इनार, राजदण्ड र लहुराले खनेका इनार ।”
Well, which the princes have dug, which the nobles of the people have hollowed out with the sceptre, with their staves; — and from the wilderness to Mattanah;
19 अनि तिनीहरू मरुभूमिबाट मत्तानातिर यात्रा गरे । मत्तानाबाट तिनीहरूले नहलीएलतिर यात्रा गरे र नहलीएलबाट बमोततिर,
And from Mattanah to Nachaliel; and from Nachaliel to Bamoth;
20 र बमोतबाट मोआबको मैदानको बेसीँतिर यात्रा गरे । त्यहाँबाट नै पिसगा पर्वतको चुचुरोको फेदीमा मरुभूमी देखिन्छ ।
And from Bamoth to the valley, which is in the fields of Moab, to the top of Pisgah, which looketh toward the desert.
21 त्यसपछि इस्राएलले एमोरी राजा सीहोनकहाँ यसो भन्दै समाचावाहक पठाए,
And Israel sent messengers unto Sichon the king of the Emorites, saying,
22 “हामीलाई तपाईंको मुलुक भएर जान दिनुहोस् । हामी खेत वा दाखबारी कतै पस्ने छैनौँ । हामी तपाईंका इनाहरूबाट पानी पिउने छैनौँ । हामी तपाईंको सिमाना पार नगरेसम्म राजमार्ग भएर मात्र यात्रा गर्छौं ।”
Let me pass through thy land; we will not turn aside into field, or into vineyard; we will not drink the water of a well: by the king's highway will we go along, until we have passed thy border.
23 तर राजा सीहोनले तिनीहरूको सिमाना भएर जान इस्राएललाई अनुमति दिएनन् । बरु, सीहोनले तिनका सबै फौज जम्मा गरे र इस्राएललाई मरुभूमिमा आक्रमण गरे । तिनी यहाँसम्म आए, जहाँ तिनले इस्राएलसँग युद्ध गरे ।
But Sichon would not suffer Israel to pass through his border; and Sichon assembled all his people together; and went out against Israel into the wilderness; and he came to Yahaz, and fought against Israel.
24 इस्राएलले सीहोनको फौजलाई तरवारले आक्रमण गरे र अर्नोनदेखि यब्बोक नदीसम्म साथै अम्मोनका मानिसहरूको भूमिसम्म कब्जा गरे । अम्मोनका मानिसहरूको सिमाना किल्लाबन्दी गरिएको थियो ।
And Israel smote him with the edge of the sword, and took possession of his land from Arnon unto Yabbok, even unto the children of 'Ammon; for the border of the children of 'Ammon was strong.
25 इस्राएलले हेश्बोन र यसका सबै गाउँसहित एमोरी सहरहरू कब्जा गरे र तिनीहरू सबैमा बसोबास गरे ।
And Israel took all these cities; and Israel dwelt in all the cities of the Emorites, in Cheshbon, and in all the villages thereof.
26 हेश्बोन एमोरी राजा सीहोनको सहर थियो, जसले मोआबका पहिलेको राजासँग युद्ध गरेका थिए । सीहोनले अर्नोन नदीसम्म उनको देश कब्जा गरेका थिए ।
For Cheshbon was the city of Sichon the king of the Emorites; and he had fought against the former king of Moab, and taken all his land out of his hand, up to the Arnon.
27 यसकारण यसो भनिन्छ, “हेश्बोनमा आओ । सीहोनको सहरको पुनर्निर्माण गरियोस् र फेरि स्थापित होस् ।
Therefore said the poets, Come into Cheshbon, let the city of Sichon be built and established.
28 हेश्बोनबाट आगोको ज्वाला दन्क्यो, सीहोनको सहरबाट एउटा आगोको ज्वाला जसले मोआबको आरलाई र अर्नोनको उच्च स्थलहरूलाई भस्म पार्यो ।
For a fire is gone out of Cheshbon, a flame from the city of Sichon: it hath consumed 'Ar-Moab, the men of the high places of the Arnon.
29 हे मोआब, तँलाई धिक्कार छ! हे कमोशको प्रजा, तँ नष्ट भएको छस् । त्यसले आफ्ना छोराहरूलाई भगुवाहरू बनायो र त्यसका छोरीहरूलाई एमोरीहरूका राजा सीहोनको कैदी बनायो ।
Woe to thee, Moab! thou art lost, O people of Kemosh: he hath suffered his sons to become fugitives, and his daughters to go into captivity, unto the king of the Emorites, Sichon.
30 तर हामीले सीहोनलाई जितेका छौँ । हेश्बोन दीबोनसम्म नै नष्ट भएको छ । हामीले तिनीहरूलाई मेदबासम्म पुग्ने नोपासम्म नै पारजित गरेका छौँ ।
We have thrown them down; lost is Cheshbon even unto Dibon, and we have laid waste [all] up to Nophach, which reacheth unto Medeba.
31 त्यसैले इस्राएल एमोरीहरूका मुलुकमा बस्न थाल्यो ।
Thus Israel dwelt in the land of the Emorites.
32 अनि मोशाले याजेरको भेद लिन मानिसहरू पठाए । तिनीहरूले यसका गाउँहरू कब्जा गरे र त्यहाँ भएका एमोरीहरूलाई धपाए ।
And Moses sent to spy out Ya'zer, and they captured the villages thereof, and drove out the Emorites that were there.
33 त्यसपछि तिनीहरू फर्के र बाशानको बाटोतिर उक्ले । बाशानका राजा ओग तिनीहरू विरुद्ध निस्के, तिनी र तिनका फौजले एद्रईमा तिनीहरूसँग लडे ।
And they turned and went up by the way to Bashan; and 'Og, the king of Bashan, went out against them, he, and all his people, to the battle at Edrei.
34 त्यसपछि परमप्रभुले मोशालाई भन्नुभयो, “त्यसँग नडरा, किनभने मैले त्यसलाई, त्यसका सबै फौज र त्यसको भूमि तँलाई दिएको छु । त्यसलाई पनि हेश्बोनमा बस्ने एमोरी राजा सीहोनलाई गरेझैँ गर् ।”
And the Lord said unto Moses, Fear him not; for into thy hand have I delivered him, and all his people, and his land; and thou shalt do unto him as thou hast done unto Sichon, the king of the Emorites, who dwelt at Cheshbon.
35 त्यसैले तिनीहरूले कुनै पनि मानिस जीवित नरहुञ्जेल उनी, उनका छोराहरू र उनका सबै फौजलाई मारे । अनि तिनीहरूले उनको भूमि कब्जा गरे ।
And they smote him and his sons, and all his people, until there was none left unto him that escaped; and they took possession of his land.
