गन्ती 20

1 यसैले इस्राएलका सारा समुदाय पहिलो महिनामा जीनको मरुभूमिमा गए; तिनीहरू कादेशमा बसे ।

So the people of Israel, the whole community, went into the wilderness of Zin in the first month; they stayed at Kadesh. There Miriam died and was buried.

2 त्यहाँ मिरियम मरिन् र तिनलाई त्यहीँ गाडियो । समुदायको निम्ति त्यहाँ पानी थिएन, त्यसैले तिनीहरू मोशा र हारूनको विरुद्ध भेला भए ।

There was no water for the community, so they assembled together against Moses and Aaron.

3 मानिसहरूले मोशा विरुद्ध गनगन गरे । तिनीहरूले भने, “हाम्रा सङ्गी इस्राएलीहरू परमप्रभुको सामु मर्दा हामी पनि मरेका भए राम्रो हुन्थ्यो ।

The people complained against Moses. They said, “It would have been better if we had died when our fellow Israelites died in front of Yahweh!

4 परमप्रभुको समुदाय, हामी र हाम्रा पशुहरू मर्नलाई किन यहाँ ल्याउनुभएको?

Why have you brought Yahweh's community into this wilderness to die here, we and our animals?

5 यो डरलाग्‍दो ठाउँमा ल्याउन हामीलाई किन मिश्रबाट आउन लगाउनुभयो? यहाँ बिउ, नेभारा, दाख वा अनार केही पनि छैन र पिउने पानी पनि छैन ।”

Why did you make us come up out of Egypt to bring us to this horrible place? Here there is no seed, figs, vines, or pomegranates, and there is no water to drink.”

6 यसैले मोशा र हारून समुदायको सामु गए । तिनीहरू भेट हुने पालको प्रवेश-द्वारमा गए र घोप्टो परे । त्यहाँ परमप्रभुको उज्‍ज्वल महिमा देखा पर्‍यो ।

So Moses and Aaron went away from in front of the assembly. They went to the entrance of the tent of meeting and lay facedown. There Yahweh's brilliant glory appeared to them.

7 परमप्रभुले मोशालाई भन्‍नुभयो,

Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,

8 “लहुरो ले र समुदाय, तँ र तेरा दाजु हारूनलाई भेला गर् । तिनीहरूको नजरकै सामुन्‍ने चट्टानलाई भन् र पानी निकाल्न यसलाई आज्ञा दे । तैँले त्यो चट्टानबाट तिनीहरूका निम्ति पानी निकाल्ने छस् र तैँले यो तिनीहरूलाई र तिनीहरूका गाईवस्तुहरूलाई दिनू ।”

“Take the staff and assemble the community, you, and Aaron your brother. Speak to the rock before their eyes, and command it to flow with water. You will produce water for them out of that rock, and you must give it to the community and their cattle to drink.”

9 परमप्रभुले मोशालाई आज्ञा गर्नुभएजस्तै मोशाले परमप्रभुको सामुबाट लहुरो लिए ।

Moses took the staff from before Yahweh, as Yahweh had commanded him to do.

10 अनि मोशा र हारूनले चट्टानको सामु मानिसहरू भेला पारे । मोशाले तिनीहरूलाई भने, “अब हे बागीहरू हो, सुन । के हामीले तिमीहरूलाई यो चट्टानबाट पानी निकाल्नपर्छ?

Then Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock. Moses said to them, “Listen now, you rebels. Must we bring water out of this rock for you?”

11 अनि मोशाले आफ्नो हात उठाएर चट्टानलाई दुई पटक हिर्काए, र पानी निस्क्यो । समुदाय र तिनीहरूका गाईवस्तुहरूले पानी पिए ।

Then Moses raised his hand and struck the rock twice with his staff, and much water came out. The community drank, and their cattle drank.

12 परमप्रभुले मोशा र हारूनलाई भन्‍नुभयो, “तिमीहरूले इस्राएलका मानिसहरूको नजरमा मलाई पवित्र जनको रूपमा आदर नगरेकाले वा मलाई भरोसा नगरेकाले तिमीहरूले यो समुदायलाई मैले तिनीहरूलाई दिन्छु भनेको भूमिमा ल्याउनेछैनौ ।”

Then Yahweh said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not trust me or honor me as holy in the eyes of the people of Israel, you will not bring this assembly into the land I have given them.”

13 यो ठाउँलाई मेरीबाको पानी भनियो, किनभने इस्राएलका मानिसहरूले त्यहाँ परमप्रभुसँग झगडा गरेका थिए, र उहाँले आफैलाई पवित्र जनको रूपमा प्रकट गर्नुभएको थियो ।

This place was called the waters of Meribah because the people of Israel had quarreled with Yahweh there, and he showed himself to them as holy.

14 मोशाले कादेशबाट एदोमको राजाकहाँ समाचारवाहकहरू पठाएः तपाईंको भाइ इस्राएलले भन्छ, “हामीमाथि आइपरेका सबै कठिनाइ तपाईं जान्‍नुहुन्छ ।

Moses sent messengers from Kadesh to the king of Edom: Your brother Israel says this: “You know all the difficulties that have happened to us.

15 हाम्रा पुर्खाहरू मिश्रमा गए र मिश्रमा नै लामो समयसम्म बसेको तपाईंलाई थाहा छ । मिश्रीहरूले हामी र हाम्रा पुर्खाहरूलाई रुखो व्यवहार गरे ।

You know that our ancestors went down to Egypt and lived in Egypt a long time. The Egyptians treated us harshly and also our ancestors.

16 जब हामीले परमप्रभुलाई पुकार्‍यौँ, उहाँले हाम्रो आवाज सुन्‍नुभयो, र एउटा स्वर्गदूत पठाउनुभयो अनि हामीलाई मिश्रबाट ल्याउनुभयो । हे्र्नुहोस्, हामी तपाईंको देशको सिमानामा पर्ने सहर कादेशमा छौँ ।

When we called out to Yahweh, he heard our voice and sent an angel and brought us out of Egypt. Look, we are in Kadesh, a city on the border of your land.

17 हामीलाई तपाईंको भूमिको बाटो भएर जान दिनुहोस् भनी म बिन्ती गर्दछु । हामी खेत वा दाखबारीतिर पस्दैनौँ, न त हामी तपाईंका ईनारहरूको पानी पिउँछौँ । हामीले तपाईंको देशको सिमाना नकाटेसम्म दायाँ वा बायाँ लाग्‍ने छैनौँ ।”

I am asking you to let us pass through your land. We will not pass through field or vineyard, nor will we drink the water in your wells. We will go along the king's highway. We will not turn aside to the right hand or to the left until we have passed your border.”

18 तर एदोमको राजाले तिनलाई जवाफ दिए, “तिमीहरू यो मुलुक भएर जान सक्दैनौ । तिमीहरू आयौ भने, म तरवार लिएर आक्रमण गर्न आउने छु ।”

But the king of Edom replied to him, “You may not pass through here. If you do, I will come with the sword to attack you.”

19 अनि इस्राएलका मानिसहरूले तिनलाई भने, “हामी राजमर्ग भएर मात्र जाने छौँ । यदि हामी र हाम्रा गाईवस्तुहरूले पानी पिए भने हामी यसको मूल्य तिर्ने छौँ । कुनै कुरा नगरी हामीलाई पैदल जान मात्र दिनुहोस् ।”

Then the people of Israel said to him, “We will go along the highway. If we or our livestock drink your water, we will pay for it. Just let us walk through on foot, without doing anything else.”

20 तर एदोमका राजाले जवाफ दिए, “तिमीहरू जान सक्दैनौँ ।” यसैले एदोमको राजा ठुलो फौजसहित इस्राएलको विरुद्ध लड्न आए ।

But the king of Edom replied, “You may not pass through.” So the king of Edom came against Israel with a strong hand with many soldiers.

21 एदोमका राजाले इस्राएललाई आफ्नो सिमाना भएर जान दिन इन्कार गरे । यसैले इस्राएल एदोमको भूमिबाट तर्किएर गए ।

The king of Edom refused to allow Israel to cross over their border. Because of this, Israel turned away from the land of Edom.

22 मानिसहरू कादेशबाट हिँडे । इस्राएलका मानिसहरू अर्थात् सारा समुदाय होर पर्वतमा आए ।

So the people journeyed from Kadesh. The people of Israel, the whole community, came to Mount Hor.

23 एदोमको सिमानामा पर्ने होर पर्वतमा परमप्रभुले मोशा र हारूनलाई भन्‍नुभयो,

Yahweh spoke to Moses and Aaron at Mount Hor, on Edom's border. He said,

24 “हारून आफ्‍ना मानिसहरूकहाँ जानुपर्छ, किनभने मैले इस्राएललाई दिएको भूमिमा त्यो प्रवेश गर्ने छैन । यो तिमीहरू दुवैले मेरीबाको पानीमा मेरो विरुद्ध विद्रोह गरेकाले गर्दा हो ।

“Aaron must be gathered to his people, for he will not enter the land that I have given to the people of Israel. This is because you both rebelled against my word at the waters of Meribah.

25 हारून र त्यसका छोरा एलाजारलाई होर पर्वतमाथि ले ।

Take Aaron and Eleazar his son, and bring them up to Mount Hor.

26 हारूनको पुजारीको पोशाक फुकाल् र त्यो एलाजारलाई लगाइदे । हारून मर्नुपर्छ र आफ्ना मानिसहरूसँग मिल्नुपर्छ ।”

Take Aaron's priestly garments off him and put them on Eleazar his son. Aaron must die and be gathered to his people there.”

27 मोशाले परमप्रभुले आज्ञा गर्नुभएबमोजिम गरे । तिनीहरू सारा समुदायको सामुबाट होर पर्वतमाथि गए ।

Moses did as Yahweh commanded. They went up Mount Hor in the sight of all the community.

28 मोशाले हारूनको पुजारीको पोशाक फुकाले र त्यो तिनका छोरा एलाजारलाई लगाइदिए । पर्वतको चुचुरोमाथि हारून मरे । अनि मोशा र एलाजार तल ओर्ले ।

Moses took Aaron's priestly garments off him and put them on Eleazar his son. Aaron died there on the top of the mountain. Then Moses and Eleazar came down.

29 जब हारून मरेका सारा समुदायले देखे, तब सारा जाति हारूनको निम्ति तिस दिनसम्म रोए ।

When all the community saw that Aaron was dead, the entire nation wept for Aaron for thirty days.
