मत्ती 14
1 त्यस समयमा शासक हेरोदले येशूको बारेमा समाचार सुने ।
In that season, heard Herod the tetrarch, the fame of Jesus:
2 उनले आफ्ना नोकरहरूलाई भने, “यिनी बप्तिस्मा-दिने यूहन्ना हुन् जो मरेकाहरूबाट फेरि जीवित भएका छन् । त्यसकारण, यी शक्तिहरूले उनमा काम गरिरहेका छन् ।”
and he said unto his servants—This, is John the Immerser, —he hath arisen from the dead, for this cause, are the powers working mightily within him.
3 किनकि हेरोदले आफ्ना भाइ फिलिपकी पत्नी हेरोदियासको कारण यूहन्नालाई समाती उनलाई बाँधेर झ्यालखानामा हालेका थिए ।
For, Herod, seizing John, had bound him, and, in prison, put him away, —because of Herodias, the wife of Philip his brother;
4 किनकि यूहन्नाले तिनलाई भनेका थिए, “तिनलाई आफ्नी पत्नीको रूपमा राख्नु तपाईंको निम्ति उचित छैन ।”
for John had been saying to him, It is not allowed thee, to have her.
5 हेरोदले उनलाई मार्न सक्थे, तर उनी मानिसहरूसँग डराए, किनभने मानिसहरूले यूहन्नालाई अगमवक्ता मान्थे ।
And desiring, to kill, him, he feared the multitude, because, as a prophet, they held him.
6 तर जब हेरोदको जन्म दिन आयो, हेरोदियासकी छोरीले मानिसहरूका माझमा नाचिन् र हेरोदलाई प्रसन्न बनाइन् ।
But, a birthday feast of Herod taking place, the daughter of Herodias danced in the midst, and pleased Herod;
7 त्यसको प्रतिक्रियामा तिनलाई जे मागे पनि दिनेछु भनेर हेरोदले वाचा गर्दै शपथ खाए ।
wherefore, with an oath, he promised to give her, whatsoever she should ask for herself;
8 आफ्नी आमाले सिकाएपछि तिनले भनिन्, “मलाई यहाँ एउटा थालमा बप्तिस्मा-दिने यूहन्नाको शिर दिनुहोस् ।”
and, she, being led on by her mother, —Give me (saith she) here, upon a charger, the head of John the Immerser.
9 राजा तिनको बिन्तीबाट निकै निराश भए, तर उनको आफ्नो शपथको कारण र उनीसँग रात्री भोजमा सामेल भएका सबै मानिसको कारणले गर्दा राजाले यस्तै होस् भनेर आज्ञा दिए ।
And the king, though grieved, yet, because of the oaths and the guests, ordered it to be given;
10 हेरोदले मानिसहरू पठाए र झ्यालखानामा यूहन्नाको शिर काटिदिए ।
and sent and beheaded John in the prison.
11 अनि उनको शिर थालमा राखेर ल्याइयो र त्यस ठिटीलाई दिइयो र तिनले त्यो आफ्नी आमाकहाँ लगिन् ।
And his head was brought upon a charger, and given unto the maiden, and she brought it to her mother.
12 अनि उनका चेलाहरू आई उनको शवलाई लगेर गाडे । त्यसपछि तिनीहरू गए, र येशूलाई बताइदिए ।
And his disciples, going near, bare away the corpse, and buried him, and came and brought tidings unto Jesus.
13 जब येशूले यो कुरा सुन्नुभयो, उहाँले त्यस ठाउँलाई छोडेर डुङ्गाबाट एकान्त स्थानमा जानुभयो । जब भिडहरूले यो कुरा सुने, तिनीहरूले उहाँलाई सहरहरूबाट पैदलै पछ्याए ।
And Jesus, hearing it, retired from thence in a boat, into a desert place, apart, —and the multitudes, hearing of it, followed him on foot from the cities.
14 त्यसपछि येशू तिनीहरूको अगाडि आउनुभयो र उहाँले ठुलो भिड देख्नुभयो । उहाँ तिनीहरूप्रति दयाले भरिनुभयो र तिनीहरूका बिचमा भएका बिमारीहरूलाई निको पार्नुभयो ।
And, coming forth, he saw a great multitude, —and was moved with compassion over them, and cured their sick.
15 जब साँझ पर्यो, चेलाहरू उहाँकहाँ आएर भने, “यो त एउटा उजाड-स्थान हो र दिन बितिसक्यो । भिडलाई बिदा गरिदिनुहोस्, ताकि तिनीहरू गाउँहरूमा जान सकून् र आ-आफ्ना निम्ति खानेकुराहरू किन्न सकून् ।”
And, evening, arriving, the disciples came unto him, saying—The place is, a desert, and, the hour, hath already passed, —dismiss the multitudes, that they may go away into the villages, and buy themselves food.
16 तर येशूले उनीहरूलाई भन्नुभयो, “यिनीहरूलाई टाढा जान आवश्यक छैन । यिनीहरूलाई तिमीहरूले केही खान देओ ।”
But, Jesus, said unto them, No need, have they to go away, —give, ye, them to eat.
17 उनीहरूले उहाँलाई भने, “हामीसँग यहाँ जम्मा पाँचवटा रोटी र दुईवटा माछा मात्र छन् ।”
But, they, say unto him—We have nothing here, save five loaves and two fishes.
18 येशूले भन्नुभयो, “ती मकहाँ ल्याओ ।”
But, he, said—Bring, them, to me, here.
19 अनि येशूले भिडलाई चौरमा बस्नको लागि आदेश दिनुभयो । उहाँले पाँचवटा रोटी र दुईवटा माछा लिनुभयो । माथि स्वर्गमा हेर्दै उहाँले धन्यवाद दिनुभयो र रोटीलाई भाँच्नुभयो अनि चेलाहरूलाई ती दिनुभयो । चेलाहरूले ती भिडहरूलाई दिए ।
And, giving orders that the multitudes should recline upon the grass, —taking the five loaves and the two fishes, —looking up into the heaven, he blessed; and, breaking, gave, the disciples, the loaves, and the disciples unto the multitude.
20 तिनीहरू सबैले खाए र टन्न भए । त्यसपछि उनीहरूले खानाका बाँकी भएका टुक्राहरू बाह्र टोकरीभरि बटुले ।
And they did all eat, and were filled, —and they took up the remainder of the broken pieces, twelve baskets, full.
21 त्यहाँ खाएकाहरूमध्ये महिला र बालबालिकाहरूबाहेक झन्डै पाँच हजार मानिस थिए ।
And, they who did eat, were about five thousand, men, besides women and children.
22 उहाँले आफ्ना चेलाहरूलाई तुरुन्तै डुङ्गामा चढेर उहाँभन्दा अगि अर्को पट्टि जान लगाउनुभयो, जब कि भिडलाई चाहिँ उहाँ आफैँले बिदा गर्न चाहनुभयो ।
And [straightway] constrained he the disciples to enter into a boat, and be going before him unto the other side, while he dismissed the multitudes.
23 उहाँले भिडलाई पठाइसक्नुपछि उहाँ आफैँ डाँडामा प्रार्थना गर्न जानुभयो । जब पूर्ण रूपमा साँझ भयो, उहाँ त्यहाँ एकलै हुनुहुथ्यो ।
And, dismissing the multitudes, he went up into the mountain, apart, to pray, —and when, evening, came, alone, was he, there.
24 तर त्यस बेला डुङ्गा भने समुद्रको बिचमा थियो, बतास विपरीत दिशाबाट आएको कारण छालले त्यो अनियन्त्रित भयो ।
Now, the boat, still many furlongs from the land, was holding off, being distressed by the waves, —for, the wind, was, contrary.
25 बिहान तिन बजेतिर येशू समुद्रमा हिँड्दै तिनीहरूका नजिक जानुभयो ।
And, in the fourth watch of the night, he came unto them, walking upon the sea.
26 जब चेलाहरूले उहाँलाई समुद्रमाथि हिँडिरहनुभएको देखे, तिनीहरू भयभीत भए र भने, “यो त भूत हो” र तिनीहरू डरले चिच्च्याउन थाले ।
And, the disciples, seeing him, upon the lake walking, were troubled, —saying—It is, a ghost; and, by reason of their fear, they cried out.
27 तर येशू तिनीहरूसँग बोल्नुभयो र भन्नुभयो, “ढाडस गर! मै हुँ! नडराओ ।”
And, straightway, Jesus spake unto them, saying—Take courage! it is, I,—be not afraid.
28 पत्रुसले उहाँलाई जवाफ दिए र भने, “प्रभु, तपाईं नै हुनुहुन्छ भने, मलाई पानीमा आउनलाई आदेश दिनुहोस् ।”
And, making answer, Peter said unto him, —Lord! if it is, thou, bid me come unto thee, upon the waters.
29 येशूले भन्नुभयो, “आऊ ।” त्यसैले, पत्रुस डुङ्गाबाट बाहिर आए र येशूकहाँ जान पानीमा हिँडे ।
And, he, said—Come! And, descending from the boat, Peter walked upon the waters, and came unto Jesus.
30 तर जब पत्रुसले बतासलाई देखे, उनी डराए । जब उनी डुब्न थाले, उनले चिच्च्याउँदै भने, “प्रभु, मलाई बचाउनुहोस्!”
But, seeing the wind, he was affrighted, and, beginning to sink, cried out, saying—Lord! save me!
31 येशूले तुरुन्तै आफ्नो हात फैलाउनुभयो; पत्रुसलाई समात्नुभयो र उनलाई भन्नुभयो, “ए अल्पविश्वासी! तिमीले किन शङ्का गर्यौ?”
And, straightway, Jesus, stretching forth his hand, laid hold upon him and saith unto him—O little-of-faith! why didst thou doubt?
32 त्यसपछि जब येशू र पत्रुस डुङ्गामा जानुभयो, तब बतास रोकियो ।
And, when they came up into the boat, the wind abated.
33 त्यसपछि डुङ्गामा रहेका चेलाहरूले येशूको आराधना गरे र भने, “साँच्चै तपाईं परमेश्वरका पुत्र हुनुहुन्छ ।”
And, they in the boat, bowed down to him, saying—Truly, God’s Son, thou art!
34 जब उहाँहरूले समुद्र पार गर्नुभयो, उहाँहरू गनेसरेतको भूमिमा आइपुग्नुभयो ।
And, going across, they came up the land, into Gennesaret.
35 जब त्यस ठाउँका मानिसहरूले येशूलाई चिने, तिनीहरूले वरपरका सबै क्षेत्रमा त्यो समाचार फैलाए र तिनीहरूले बिरामी भएकाहरू सबैलाई उहाँकहाँ ल्याए ।
And, recognizing him, the men of that place, sent out into all that region, and they brought unto him all who were sick;
36 तिनीहरूले उहाँको कपडाको एउटा छेउ मात्र छुन पाऊँ भनी उहाँलाई बिन्ती गरे, र जतिले छोए सबै जना निको भए ।
and were beseeching [him], that they might, only, touch the border of his mantle, and, as many as touched, were made quite well.
