लेवीहरू 18

1 परमप्रभुले मोशालाई भन्‍नुभयो,

And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,

2 “इस्राएलका मानिसहरूलाई यसो भन्, ‘म परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका परमेश्‍वर हुँ ।

Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, I am Jehovah your God.

3 तिमीहरू पहिले बसोबास गर्ने मिश्रका मानिसहरूले त्यहाँ जे गर्थे ती तिमीहरूले नगर्नू । मैले तिमीहरूलाई लैजान लागेको देश अर्थात् कनानका मानिसहरूले त्यहाँ जे गर्थे ती तिमीहरूले नगर्नू । तिमीहरूले तिनीहरूका रीतिरिवाजहरू नपछ्‍याउनू ।

After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do; and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do; neither shall ye walk in their customs.

4 मेरो व्यवस्था तिमीहरूले पालन गर्नू, र मेरा आज्ञाहरू मान्‍नू, र तीअनुसार तिमीहरू हिँड्नू, किनभने म परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका परमेश्‍वर हुँ ।

Mine ordinances shall ye do and my statutes shall ye observe to walk therein: I am Jehovah your God.

5 यसैकारण तिमीहरूले मेरा आज्ञाहरू मान्‍नू र मेरा व्यवस्था पालन गर्नू । ती पालन गर्ने मानिस तीद्वारा नै बाँच्‍दछ । म परमप्रभु हुँ ।

And ye shall observe my statutes and my judgments, by which the man that doeth them shall live: I am Jehovah.

6 आफ्नो नजिकको नातेदारसँग सुतेर कसैले पनि आफ्नो नग्‍नता नदेखाओस् । म परमप्रभु हुँ ।

No one shall approach to any that is his near relation, to uncover his nakedness: I am Jehovah.

7 आफ्नी आमासँग सुतेर आफ्ना बुबाको अनादार नगर्नू । त्यो तेरी आमा हो! तैँले त्यसलाई अनादर नगर् ।

The nakedness of thy father, and the nakedness of thy mother, shalt thou not uncover: she is thy mother: thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.

8 आफ्ना बुबाकी कुनै पत्‍नीसँग पनि नसुत् । त्यस्तो काम गरेर आफ्ना बुबाको अनादर नगर् ।

The nakedness of thy father's wife shalt thou not uncover: it is thy father's nakedness.

9 आफ्नी कुनै दिदी-बहिनीसँग नसुत्, चाहे त्यो तेरो बुबाकी छोरी वा आमाकी छोरी होस्, चाहे त्यो तेरो घरमा वा घरबाट टाढा हुर्काइएकी होस् । आफ्नी दिदी-बहिनीसँग नसुत् ।

The nakedness of thy sister, the daughter of thy father, or daughter of thy mother, born at home, or born abroad — their nakedness shalt thou not uncover.

10 आफ्नो छोरा वा छोरीको छोरीसँग नसुत् । त्यो तेरो निम्ति शर्मको कुरा हो ।

The nakedness of thy son's daughter, or of thy daughter's daughter — their nakedness shalt thou not uncover; for theirs is thy nakedness.

11 आफ्ना बुबाकी पत्‍नीकी छोरीसँग नसुत्, जो तेरो बुबाबाट जन्मेकी थिई । त्यो तेरो बहिनी हो, र तँ त्योसँग नसुत् ।

The nakedness of thy father's wife's daughter, begotten of thy father: she is thy sister: thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.

12 आफ्ना बुबाकी दिदी-बहिनीसँग नसुत् । त्यो तेरो बुबाको नजिकको नातेदार हो ।

The nakedness of thy father's sister shalt thou not uncover: she is thy father's near relation.

13 आफ्नी आमाकी दिदी-बहिनीसँग नसुत् । त्यो तेरी आमाको नजिकको नातेदार हो ।

The nakedness of thy mother's sister shalt thou not uncover; for she is thy mother's near relation.

14 आफ्ना बुबाको दाजु वा भाइकी पत्‍नीसँग सुतेर त्यसको अनादर नगर् । त्यस्तो कामको निम्ति त्यसको नजिक नजा, त्यो तेरी काकी हो ।

The nakedness of thy father's brother shalt thou not uncover; thou shalt not approach his wife: she is thine aunt.

15 आफ्नी बुहारीसँग नसुत् । त्यो तेरो छोरोकी पत्‍नी हो, त्योसँग नसुत् ।

The nakedness of thy daughter-in-law shalt thou not uncover: she is thy son's wife; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.

16 आफ्नो दाजु वा भाइकी पत्‍नीसँग नसुत् । यस्तो काम गरेर त्यसको अनादर नगर् ।

The nakedness of thy brother's wife shalt thou not uncover: it is thy brother's nakedness.

17 कुनै स्‍त्री र त्यसकी छोरी दुवैसँग नसुत्, वा त्यसको छोराकी छोरीसँग वा त्यसकी छोरीकी छोरीसँग नसुत् । तिनीहरू त्यस स्‍त्रीका नजिकका नातेदार हुन् र तिनीहरूसँग सुत्‍नु दुष्‍टता हो ।

The nakedness of a woman and her daughter shalt thou not uncover; thou shalt not take her son's daughter, nor her daughter's daughter, to uncover her nakedness: they are her near relations: it is wickedness.

18 आफ्नी पत्‍नीकी दिदी वा बहिनीलाई विवाह नगर् र आफ्नो पहिलेकी पत्‍नी जीवितै हुँदासम्‍म त्यसकी दिदी वा बहिनीसँग नसुत् ।

And thou shalt not take a wife to her sister, to vex her, to uncover her nakedness beside her, during her life.

19 कुनै स्‍त्रीको रजस्‍वलाको समयमा त्योसँग सहवास नगर् । त्यो समयमा त्यो अशुद्ध हुन्छे ।

And thou shalt not approach a woman in the separation of her uncleanness to uncover her nakedness.

20 आफ्नो छिमेकीकी पत्‍नीसँग नसुत् र यसरी आफैलाई अशुद्ध नबना ।

And thou shalt not lie carnally with thy neighbour's wife, to become unclean with her.

21 आफ्ना छोराछोरीहरूलाई मोलोखको निम्ति बलि गर्नलाई तिनीहरूलाई आगोमा नहाल्नू, किनभने तिमीहरूले यसो गरेर आफ्ना परमेश्‍वरको नाउँलाई अपवित्र नबनाउनू । म परमप्रभु हुँ ।

And thou shalt not give of thy seed to let them pass through [the fire] to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am Jehovah.

22 स्‍त्रीसँगझैँ गरी अरू पुरुषहरूसँग नसुत्‍नू । यो दुष्‍टता हो ।

And thou shalt not lie with mankind as one lieth with a woman: it is an abomination.

23 कुनै पशुसँग सहवास गरेर आफैलाई अशुद्ध नबनाउनू । कुनै पनि स्‍त्री कुनै पशुसँग नसुत्‍नू । यो अस्वाभाविक दुराचरण हो ।

And thou shalt lie with no beast to become unclean therewith; and a woman shall not stand before a beast to lie down with it: it is confusion.

24 यस्ता कामहरू गरेर आफैलाई अपवित्र नबनाउनू, किनभने जुन जातिहरूलाई मैले तिमीहरूका सामुबाट निकाल्दै छु ती यी सबै कारणले अपवित्र भएका छन् ।

Make not yourselves unclean in any of these things; for in all these have the nations which I am casting out before you made themselves unclean.

25 तिनीहरूको भूमि अपवित्र भयो, र यसैकारण मैले तिनीहरूका पापको दण्ड दिएँ, र त्यस भूमिले त्यसका बासिन्दाहरूलाई उकेलेर निकालिदियो ।

And the land hath become unclean; and I visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land vomiteth out its inhabitants.

26 यसैकारण, तिमीहरूले मेरा आज्ञाहरू र विधिहरू पालन गर्नू, र इस्राएलका स्वदेशी वा तिमीहरूका बिचमा बसोबास गर्ने परदेशी जोकोहीले कुनै पनि यस्ता घृणास्‍पद काम नगर्नू ।

But ye shall observe my statutes and my judgments, and shall not commit any of all these abominations: the home-born, and the stranger that sojourneth among you;

27 तिमीहरूभन्दा अगि यस भूमिमा बसोबास गर्ने मानिसहरूले यस्तै दुष्‍ट काम गरे, र यसैकारण सारा देश नै अपवित्र भयो ।

(for all these abominations have the men of the land done, who were before you, and the land hath been made unclean);

28 तिमीहरूका अपवित्रताका कारण तिमीहरूभन्दा अगिका मानिसहरूलाई झैँ त्यस भूमिले तिमीहरूलाई पनि उकेलेर बाहिर ननिकालोस् ।

that the land vomit you not out, when ye make it unclean, as it vomited out the nation that was before you.

29 तिमीहरूमध्ये जो कोहीले यस्ता घृणास्पद कामहरू गर्दछन् भने, तिनीहरू आफ्ना मानिसहरूबाट बहिष्‍कृत हुने छन् ।

For whoever committeth any of these abominations, ...the souls that commit them shall be cut off from among their people.

30 तिमीहरूभन्दा अगि यहाँ अभ्यास हुने गरेका कुनै यस्ता घृणास्‍पद रीतिरिवाजहरूलाई तिमीहरूले अभ्यास नगरेर मेरो आज्ञा पालन गर्नू अनि यसरी तिमीहरूले यस्ता कामले आफैलाई अपवित्र बनाउने छैनौ । म परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका परमेश्‍वर हुँ’ ।”

And ye shall observe my charge, that ye commit not [any] of the abominable customs which were committed before you; and ye shall not make yourselves unclean therein: I am Jehovah your God.
