लेवीहरू 11

1 परमप्रभु मोशा र हारूनसँग यसरी बोल्‍नुभयो,

The Lord told Moses and Aaron,

2 “इस्राएलका मानिसहरूलाई यसो भन्‍नू, ‘पृथ्‍वीमा भएका सबै पशुहरूमध्ये तिमीहरूले खान मिल्‍ने जीवित प्राणीहरू यी नै हुन् ।

“Give these instructions to the Israelites. These are the animals you are allowed to eat:

3 चिरिएको खुर भएको र उग्राएर चबाउने सबै पशु तिमीहरूले खान मिल्‍छ ।

any animal that both has a divided hoof and also chews the cud.

4 तर, उग्राएर चबाउने वा चिरिएको खुर मात्र भएको पशुचाहिँ तिमीहरूले नखानू, जस्तै ऊँट, किनभने त्यसले उग्राएर चबाउँछ तर त्यसको खुर चिरिएको हुँदैन । यसकारण त्यो तिमीहरूका निम्ति अशुद्ध हो ।

However, if it either chews the cud, or has a divided hoof, then you may not eat it. These include: the camel, which though it chews the cud doesn't have a divided hoof, so it is unclean for you.

5 अनि शापन किनभने त्यसले उग्राएर चबाउँछ तर त्यसको खुर चिरिएको हुँदैन । त्यो तिमीहरूका निम्ति अशुद्ध हो ।

The rock hyrax, which though it chews the cud doesn't have a divided hoof, so it is unclean for you.

6 अनि खरायो तिमीहरूका निम्ति अशुद्ध हो किनभने त्यसले उग्राएर चबाउँछ तर त्यसको खुर चिरिएको हुँदैन ।

The hare, which though it chews the cud doesn't have a divided hoof, so it is unclean for you.

7 अनि सुँगुरको खुर चिरिएको भए तापनि त्यसले उग्राएर चबाउँदैन । यसैकारण त्यो तिमीहरूका निम्ति अशुद्ध हो ।

The pig, which though it has a divided hoof doesn't chew the cud, so it is unclean for you.

8 तिमीहरूले यी कुनै पशुको मासु नखानू, न त तिनीहरूको सिनु छुनू । यी तिमीहरूका निम्ति अशुद्ध हुन् ।

You are not to eat their meat or touch their bead bodies. They are unclean for you.

9 पानीमा पाइने प्राणीहरूमा सागर वा नदीहरूमा पाइने पखेटा र कत्‍ला भएका सबै तिमीहरूले खान मिल्‍छ ।

You are allowed to eat any creature with fins and scales that lives in the water, whether in the sea or in fresh water.

10 तर सागर वा नदीहरूका सबै जीवित प्राणीहरू र पानीमा हिँड्ने र पानीमा पाइने सबै जीवित प्राणीहरू जसका पखेटा र कत्‍ला हुँदैनन्, ती तिमीहरूले घृणा गर्नू ।

But you are not allowed to eat any of the many creatures that don't have fins and scales that live in the water, whether in the sea or in fresh water.

11 ती घृणित भएका हुनाले, तिमीहरूले तिनका मासु नखानू, र तिनका सिनुलाई पनि घृणा गर्नू ।

They are repulsive. You must not eat their meat, and you must treat their dead bodies as repulsive.

12 पानीमा पाइने प्राणी जसका पखेटा र कत्‍ला हुँदैनन्, ती तिमीहरूद्वारा घृणित होस् ।

All such water creatures that don't have fins and scales are to be repulsive to you.

13 तिमीहरूले घृणा गर्नुपर्ने र खान नहुने पक्षीहरू यी हुन्ः गरुड, गिद्ध,

As for the birds, these must not be eaten because they are repulsive: eagle, griffon vulture, bearded vulture,

14 चील, सबै प्रकारका बेसारो,

buzzard, kite and similar birds of prey,

15 सबै प्रकारका काग,

any raven or crow,

16 सुतुरमुर्ग र हुचील, समुद्रीचरो, र सबै प्रकारका बाज ।

tawny owl, long-eared owl, gulls, any kind of hawk,

17 तिमीहरूले यी पक्षीहरूलाई पनि घृणा गर्नू, सानो र ठुलो लाटोकोसेरो, जलकाग,

little owl, fish owl, eagle owl,

18 राजहंस र धनेस, माछा खाने चील,

barn owl, desert owl, Egyptian vulture,

19 सारस, सबै प्रकारका बकुल्‍ला, फाप्रेचरो र चमेरो ।

storks and any kind of heron, hoopoe, and bats.

20 चार खुट्‍टाले हिँड्ने पखेटा भएका सबै किराहरू तिमीहरूका निम्ति घृणित हुन् ।

All flying insects that crawl are repulsive to you.

21 तर उड्ने किराहरूमा चार खुट्‍टाले हिँड्ने र जमिनमा उफ्रनको निम्ति खुट्‍टामा जोर्नीहरू भएकाहरूचाहिँ तिमीहरूले खान मिल्छ ।

But you can eat the following kinds of flying insects that crawl: those that have jointed legs they use to jump.

22 तिमीहरूले कुनै पनि प्रकारका सलह, खुइले-सलह, किथ्रो, वा फटेङ्ग्रो पनि खान मिल्छ ।

So in this category you can eat any kind of locust, bald locust, cricket, or grasshopper.

23 तर चार खुट्‍टा भएका सबै उड्ने किराहरूचाहिँ तिमीहरूद्वारा घृणित होस् ।

All other flying insects that crawl are repulsive to you,

24 यदि तिमीहरूले यीमध्ये कुनैको सिनुलाई छोयौ भने तिमीहरू साँझसम्म अशुद्ध हुने छौ ।

and will make you unclean. If you touch their dead bodies you will be unclean until the evening,

25 जसले तीमध्ये कसैको सिनु बोक्‍छ, उसले आफ्ना लुगा धोओस् र साँझसम्मै त्यो अशुद्ध रहने छ ।

and if you pick up one of their dead bodies you must wash your clothes, and you will be unclean until the evening.

26 हरेक पशु जसको खुर पुरै चिरिएको छैन वा जसले उग्राएर चबाउँदैन, त्यो तिमीहरूका निम्ति अशुद्ध हुन्छ । ती छुने सबै अशुद्ध हुने छन् ।

Every animal with hooves that are not divided, or that does not chew the cud, is unclean for you. If you touch any of them you will be unclean.

27 चार खुट्‍टाले हिँड्ने पशुहरूमध्ये आफ्ना पन्‍जाले हिँड्नेचाहिँ तिमीहरूका निम्ति अशुद्ध हुन्छन् । त्यस्तो सिनु छुने जो कोही साँझसम्म अशुद्ध हुने छ ।

Any four-legged animal that walks on its paws are unclean for you. If you touch their dead bodies you will be unclean until the evening,

28 त्यस्तो सिनु बोक्‍ने जो कोहीले आफ्ना लुगाहरू धोओस् र साँझसम्म त्यो अशुद्ध रहोस् । यी पशुहरू तिमीहरूका निम्ति अशुद्ध हुने छन् ।

and if you pick up one of their dead bodies you must wash your clothes, and you will be unclean until the evening. They are unclean for you.

29 जमिनमा घस्रने पशुहरूमा यी प्राणीहरू तिमीहरूका निम्ति अशुद्ध हुने छन्ः न्याउरीमूसो, मूसो, सबै थरीका ठुलो छेपारो,

The following animals that run along the ground are unclean for you: rats, mice, any kind of large lizard,

30 गोहोरो, सालक, भालेमुङ्‍रो, बालुवाको छेपारो, र रङ्ग बदल्‍ने छेपारो ।

gecko, monitor lizard, wall lizard, skinks, and chameleon.

31 घस्रने पशुहरूमा यी सबै तिमीहरूका निम्ति अशुद्ध हुने छन् । ती मरेपछि ती छुने सबै साँझसम्म अशुद्ध हुने छन् ।

These animals that run along the ground are unclean for you. If you touch a dead one of them you will be unclean until the evening.

32 तिनीहरूमध्ये कोही मरेर केही कुरामाथि पर्‍यो भने, त्यो वस्तु काठ, कपडा, छाला, वा भाङ्‍रो, जे सुकैबाट बनेको भए तापनि त्यो अशुद्ध हुने छ । त्यो जे भए तापनि र त्यो जे सुकैको निम्ति प्रयोग हुने भए तापनि, त्यो पानीमा डुबाइनुपर्छ, र त्यो साँझसम्म अशुद्ध रहने छ । त्यसपछि त्यो शुद्ध हुने छ ।

Anything that one of them dies and lands on becomes unclean. Whatever it is—something made of wood, clothing, leather, sackcloth, or any work tool—it must be washed with water and will be unclean until the evening. Then it will become clean.

33 यदि कुनै माटोको भाँडोमा कुनै अशुद्ध प्राणी पर्‍यो भने, त्यस भाँडोमा भएको जेसुकै अशुद्ध हुने छ, र तिमीहरूले त्यो भाँडोलाई नष्‍ट गर्नू ।

If one of them falls into a clay pot, all that's in it becomes unclean. You must smash the pot.

34 कुनै खान मिल्‍ने कुरामा त्यस्तो भाँडोको पानी पर्‍यो भने त्यो अशुद्ध हुन्छ । त्यस भाँडोको कुनै पनि पिउने तरल पदार्थ अशुद्ध हुन्छ ।

If water from that pot touches any food, that food becomes unclean, and any drink from a pot like that also becomes unclean.

35 जुन कुरामाथि तिनीहरूको सिनु खस्‍छ, त्यो वस्तु भट्‍टी वा सानो चुलो जे भए तापनि त्यसलाई टुक्रा-टुक्रा गरिनुपर्छ । ती अशुद्ध हुन् र तिमीहरूका निम्ति ती अशुद्ध रहून् ।

Anything that one of their dead bodies falls on becomes unclean. If it's an oven or a stove, it must be smashed. It is permanently unclean for you.

36 जरुवा वा दहको पानी शुद्ध रहने छ; तर तिनीहरूको सिनु छुने सबै अशुद्ध हुन्छन् ।

On the other hand, if it's a spring or cistern containing water then it will remain clean, but if you touch one of these dead bodies in it you will be unclean.

37 यदि तिनीहरूको सिनुको कुनै भाग छरिने बिउमा पर्‍यो भने, ती बिउहरू भने शुद्ध नै रहन्छन् ।

Similarly, if one of their dead bodies falls on any seed used for sowing, the seed remains clean;

38 तर यदि बिउमा पानी राखिएको भए, र तिनीहरूको सिनुको कुनै भाग तीमाथि पर्‍यो भने, ती तिमीहरूका निम्ति अशुद्ध हुने छन् ।

but if the seed has been soaked in water and one of their dead bodies falls on it, it is unclean for you.

39 तिमीहरूले खाने गरेका कुनै पशु मर्‍यो भने, त्यसको सिनु छुने कोही पनि साँझसम्म अशुद्ध हुने छ ।

If an animal that you are allowed to eat dies, anyone who touches the dead body will be unclean until the evening.

40 त्यस्तो सिनु खाने जो कोहीले आफ्ना लुगाहरू धुनुपर्छ र त्यो साँझसम्म अशुद्ध रहने छ । त्यस्तो सिनुबाट केही लिने जो कोहीले आफ्ना लुगाहरू धोओस् र त्यो साँझसम्म अशुद्ध रहने छ ।

If you eat anything from the dead body you must wash your clothes and you will be unclean until the evening. If you pick up the dead body you must wash your clothes and you will be unclean until the evening.

41 जमिनमा घस्रने सबै प्राणी घृणित हुनुपर्छ । ती नखानू ।

Every animal that crawls along the ground is repulsive—you must not eat it.

42 आफ्नो पेटले हिँड्ने, वा सबै चार खुट्‍टा प्रयोग गरी हिँड्ने, वा धेरै खुट्‍टा भएका जुनसुकै जमिनमा घस्रेर हिँड्ने प्राणी तिमीहरूले नखानू, किनकि ती घृणित हुनुपर्छ ।

Don't eat any animal that crawls along the ground, whether it moves on its belly or walks on four feet or many feet. All such animals are repulsive.

43 कुनै पनि घस्रने प्राणीबाट तिमीहरू अशुद्ध नहुनू; आफूलाई अपवित्र बनाउने गरी तीबाट तिमीहरू अशुद्ध नहुनू ।

Don't defile yourselves by any such crawling animal. Don't make yourselves unclean or defiled by them,

44 किनभने म परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका परमेश्‍वर हुँ । म पवित्र भएको कारण तिमीहरूले आफैलाई पवित्र राख्‍नुपर्छ, र यसैकारण तिमीहरू पवित्र होओ । जमिनमा घस्रने कुनै पनि प्राणीबाट तिमीहरूले आफैलाई अपवित्र नबनाओ ।

because I am the Lord your God; so dedicate yourselves and be holy, because I am holy. Don't defile yourselves by any animal that crawls along the ground.

45 किनभने तिमीहरूका परमेश्‍वर हुनलाई तिमीहरूलाई मिश्र देशबाट बाहिर ल्याउने परमप्रभु म नै हुँ । यसैकारण म पवित्र भएको हुनाले तिमीहरू पवित्र होओ ।

I am the Lord who led you out of Egypt so that I could be your God. So be holy, because I am holy.

46 सबै पशु, पक्षी, पानीमा चलहल गर्ने सबै जीवित प्राणी, र जमिनमा घस्रने सबै प्राणीसम्बन्धी विधि यी नै हुन्,

These are the regulations about animals, birds, everything that lives in the water, and all animals that crawl along the ground.

47 जसका बिचमा अशुद्ध र शुद्ध, र खान मिल्‍ने र नमिल्‍ने प्राणीहरू भनेर छुट्ट्‍याउन जरुरी छ’ ।”

You must recognize the difference between unclean and clean, between those animals that can be eaten and those that can't.”
