न्यायकर्ताहरू 9
1 यरूब-बालका छोरा अबीमेलेक आफ्नी आमाका नातेदारहरूकहाँ शकेममा गए र तिनले उनीहरूलाई र आफ्नी आमाको परिवारका सबै वंशलाई यसो भने,
Then went Abimelech son of Jerubbaal, to Shechem, unto the brethren of his mother, —and spake unto them, and unto all the family of the house of his mother’s father, saying;
2 “यो कुरा सोध्नुहोस् ताकि शकेमका सबै अगुवाहरूले सुन्न सकून्, ‘तपाईंहरूका निम्ति के असल हुन्छ, यरूब-बालका सबै सत्तरी जना छोराले तपाईंहरूमाथि शासन गरेको, कि एक जनाले मात्र शासन गरेको?’ म तपाईंहरूकै हाड र मासु हुँ भन्ने कुरा सम्झनुहोस् ।”
Speak, I pray you, in the ears of all the owners of Shechem—Which is better for you, that there should rule over you, seventy men, all sons of Jerubbaal, or that there should rule over you, one man? And remember that, your bone and your flesh, am I.
3 तिनकी आमाका नातेदारहरूले तिनको बारेमा शकेमका अगुवाहरूसँग कुरा गरे, र तिनीहरू अबीमेलेकको पछि लाग्न सहमत भए, किनकि तिनीहरूले भने, “उनी हाम्रै भाइ हुन् ।”
So the brethren of his mother spake for him, in the ears of all the owners of Shechem, all these words, —and their heart inclined after Abimelech, for they said—Our own brother, is he.
4 उनीहरूले तिनलाई बाल-बरीतको मन्दिरबाट चाँदीका सत्तरीवटा सिक्का दिए र अबीमेलेकले ती सिक्काले हुर्दुङ्गे र साहसी मानिसहरू भाडामा लिए, जो तिनको पछि लागे ।
So they gave him seventy pieces of silver, out of the house of Baal-berith, —and Abimelech hired therewith, loose and unstable men, and they followed him.
5 अबीमेलेक ओप्रामा आफ्ना बुबाको घरमा गए, र तिनले एउटा ढुङ्गामा आफ्ना सत्तरी जना दाजुभाइ, यरूब-बालका छोराहरूलाई मारे । यरूब-बालका कान्छा छोरा, योताममात्र बाँकी रहे, किनभने उनी लुकेका थिए ।
And he entered the house of his father, at Ophrah, and slew his brethren, sons of Jerubbaal, seventy men, upon one stone, —but there remained Jotham, the youngest son of Jerubbaal, for he had hidden himself.
6 शकेम र बेथ-मिल्लोका सबै अगुवाहरू एकसाथ भेला भए, र शकेममा रहेको ठुलो रूखको छेउको खम्बामा अबीमेलेकलाई राजा बनाए ।
Then were gathered together all the owners of Shechem, and all the house of Millo, and they went and made Abimelech king, —by the oak of the pillar, that was in Shechem.
7 जब योतमलाई यो कुराको बारेमा सुनाइयो, तिनी गए र गिरीज्जीम डाँडाको चुचुरामा खडा भए । तिनले ठुलो सोरमा कराएर भने, “ए शकेमका अगुवाहरू हो, मेरो कुरा सुन, ताकि परमेश्वरले तिमीहरूलाई सुनून् ।
And, when it was told Jotham, he went and stood on the top of Mount Gerizim, and lifted up his voice, and cried aloud, —and said unto them—Hearken unto me, ye owners of Shechem, and may God, hearken unto you.
8 एकपल्ट रूखहरूले आफ्नो निम्ति एउटा राजा अभिषेक गर्नको निम्ति निस्के । अनि तिनीहरूले जैतूनको रूखलाई भने, ‘हामीमाथि राज्य गर्नुहोस् ।’
The trees, went their way, to anoint over them, a king, —and they said unto the olive tree—Reign thou over us.
9 तर जैतूनको रूखले तिनीहरूलाई भने, ‘के देवताहरू र मानवजातिलाई सम्मान दिने मेरो तेललाई त्यागेर, अरू रूखहरूमाथि राज्य गर्न म फर्केर जाऊँ?’
But the olive tree said unto them, Should I leave my fatness, which, in me, gods and men do honour, —and go to wave to and fro, over the trees?
10 ती रूखहरूले नेभाराको रूखलाई भने, ‘आउनुहोस् र हामीमाथि राज्य गर्नुहोस् ।’
Then said the trees unto the fig-tree, —Come! thou reign over us.
11 तर नेभाराको रूखले तिनीहरूलाई भने, ‘के मैले मेरो गुलियोपन र मेरो असल फललाई त्यागेर अरू रूखहरूमाथि राज्य गर्न म फर्केर जाऊँ?’
But the fig-tree said unto them, Should I leave my sweetness, and mine excellent increase, —and go to wave to and fro, over the trees?
12 ती रूखहरूले दाखको बोटलाई भने, ‘आउनुहोस् र हामीमाथि राज्य गर्नुहोस् ।’
Then said the trees unto the vine, —Come! thou, reign over us.
13 दाखको बोटले तिनीहरूलाई भने, ‘के देवताहरू र मानवजातिलाई खुशी तुल्याउने मेरो नयाँ दाखमद्यलाई त्यागेर अरू रूखहरूमाथि राज्य गर्न म फर्केर जाऊँ?’
But the vine said unto them, Should I leave my new wine, that rejoiceth gods and men, —and go to wave to and fro, over the trees?
14 अनि ती सबै रूखहरूले काँढाको झाडीलाई भने, ‘आउनुहोस् र हामीमाथि राज्य गर्नुहोस् ।’
Then said all the trees, unto the bramble, —Come, thou, to reign over us.
15 त्यस काँढाको झाडीले रूखहरूलाई भन्यो, ‘तिमीहरू साँच्चै नै मलाई तिमीहरूमाथि राजा अभिषेक गर्न चाहन्छौ भने, आओ र मेरो छहारीमुनि सुरक्षित भएर बस । होइन भने, काँढाको झाडीबाट आगो बाहिर निस्कोस् र लेबनानका देवदारुहरूलाई त्यसले भस्म पारोस् ।’
And the bramble said unto the trees, If, in truth, ye are about to anoint me to be king over you, come, take refuge in my shade, —but, if not, there shall come forth fire out of the bramble, and devour the cedars of Lebanon.
16 अब यसकारण, के तिमीहरूले अबीमेलेकलाई राजा बनाएर सत्यता र इमान्दारितामा काम गरेका छौ, र तिमिहरूले यरूब-बाल र उनका घरानालाई ठिक व्यवहार गरेका छौ, र उनले पाउन योग्य दण्ड तिमीहरूले उनलाई दिएका छौ भने,
Now, therefore, if, in truth and sincerity, ye have acted, in making Abimelech king, —and if ye have dealt, well, with Jerubbaal and with his house, and if, according to the deserving of his hands, ye have done unto him;
17 र मेरा बुबाले तिमीहरूका निम्ति युद्ध लडेका, आफ्नो प्राणलाई जोखिममा पारेका, र मिद्दानीहरूका हातबाट तिमीहरूलाई बचाएका कुरालाई विचार गरेका छौ भने,
in that my father fought for you, and cast his soul away from before him, and rescued you out of the hand of Midian; —
18 तर तिमीहरू त मेरा बुबाका घरानाका विरुद्धमा उठेका छौ र उनका सत्तरी जना छोराहरूलाई एउटै ढुङ्गामा मारेका छौ । अनि तिमीहरूले उनकी कमारीको छोरो, अबीमेलेकलाई शकेमका अगुवाहरूमाथि राजा तुल्याएका छौ, किनभने त्यो तिमीहरूको नातेदार हो ।
yet have, ye, risen up against the house of my father, to-day, and slain his sons—seventy men, upon one stone, —and made Abimelech, son of his maidservant, king over the owners of Shechem, because he is, your brother;
19 तिमीहरूले यरूब-बाल र उनको घरानासँग इमान्दारिता र सत्यतामा व्यवहार गरेका भए, तिमीहरू अबीमेलेकमा खुशी रहो, र ऊ पनि तिमीहरूसँग खुशी रहोस् ।
if then, in truth and in sincerity, ye have dealt with Jerubbaal and with his house, this day, rejoice ye in Abimelech, and let, him also, rejoice in you;
20 तर होइन भने, अबीमेलेकबाट आगो बाहिर निस्कोस्, र शकेम र बेथ-मिल्लोका मानिसहरूलाई भस्म पारोस् । अनि शकेम र बेथ-मिल्लोका मानिसहरूबाट अबीमेलेकलाई भस्म पार्न आगो बाहिर आओस् ।”
but, if not, let fire come out from Abimelech, and devour the owners of Shechem, and the house of Millo, —and let fire come out from the owners of Shechem, and from the house of Millo, and devour Abimelech!
21 योताम भागेर बेअरमा गए । उनी त्यहाँ बसे किनभने त्यो ठाउँ उनको दाजु अबीमेलेकबाट धेरै टाढा थियो ।
And Jotham hasted away, and fled, and went to Beer, —and dwelt there, away from the face of Abimelech his brother.
22 अबीमेलेकले इस्राएलमाथि तिन वर्षसम्म राज्य गरे ।
And Abimelech ruled over Israel three years.
23 परमेश्वरले अबीमेलेक र शकेमका अगुवाहरूबिच एउटा दुष्ट आत्मा पठाउनुभयो । शकेमका अगुवाहरूले अबीमेलेकप्रतिको विश्वासमा धोका दिए ।
Then God let go a spirit of mischief between Abimelech and the owners of Shechem, —and the owners of Shechem dealt treacherously with Abimelech:
24 यरूब-बालका सत्तरी जना छोराको हत्याको बदलास्वरूप, र तिनीहरूका हत्याको निम्ति तिनीहरूका भाइ अबीमेलेक दोषी होस्, र तिनीहरूलाई मार्नको निम्ति शकेमका मानिसहरूले उनलाई सहायता गरेका हुनाले तिनीहरू दोषी होऊन् भनेर परमेश्वरले यस्तो गर्नुभयो ।
that the cruel wrong to the seventy sons of Jerubbaal might [come upon them], —and that their blood might be laid upon Abimelech their brother, who slew them, and upon the owners of Shechem who strengthened his hands, to slay his brethren.
25 यसैले शकेमका अगुवाहरूले पहाडका चुचुराहरूमा उनलाई आक्रमण गर्न मानिसहरू कुरुवा राखे, र त्यो बाटो भएर हिंड्ने सबैलाई तिनीहरूले लुटे । यस बारेमा अबीमेलेकलाई भनियो ।
So the owners of Shechem set for him liers in wait, upon the tops of the mountains, and they robbed all who crossed over them by the road, —and it was told Abimelech.
26 एबेदका छोरा गाल आफ्ना नातेदारहरूसँग आए र तिनीहरू शकेममा गए । शकेमका अगुवाहरूले तिनीमाथि भरोसा गर्थे ।
And Gaal son of Ebed came, with his brethren, and they passed through to Shechem, —and the owners of Shechem put their trust in him.
27 तिनीहरू बाहिर खेतमा गए र दाखका बोटहरूबाट दाखहरू बटुले, र तिनीहरूलाई कुल्चे । आफ्ना देवताहरूका मन्दिरमा तिनीहरूले एउटा चाड मनाए, र त्यहाँ तिनीहरूले खाए र पिए, र तिनीहरूले अबीमेलेकलाई सरापे ।
Then went they out into the fields, and gathered the fruit of their vineyards and trode [the grapes], and held a vintage festival, —and entered the house of their god, and did eat and drink, and poured contempt on Abimelech.
28 एबेदका छोरा गालले भने, “अबीमेलेक को हो, र शकेम को हो, कि हामीले त्यसको सेवा गर्नुपर्ने? के त्यो यरूब-बालको छोरा होइन? के जबूल त्यसको अधिकारी होइन? हामीले किन शकेमका पिता हमोरका मानिसहरूको सेवा गर्नुपर्ने? हामीले किन अबीमेलेकको सेवा गर्ने?
And Gaal son of Ebed said: Who is Abimelech—and who is the son of Shechem, that we should serve him? Is he not the son of Jerubbaal? and Zebul his officer? Serve ye the men of Hamor, Shechem’s father, but why should, we, serve him?
29 यी मानिसहरू मेरो कमाण्डमा भएदेखि म अबीमेलेकलाई हटाइदिनेथिएँ । मैले अबीमेलेकलाई भन्नेथिएँ, ‘तेरो सबै सेनालाई बाहिर बोला ।’”
Would, then, this people were in my hand! that I might set aside Abimelech, —and say to Abimelech, Increase thine army, and come out!
30 जब सहरका अधिकारी जबूलले एबेदका छोरा गालले भनेका कुरा सुने, तब तिनी रिसले चूर भए ।
And, when Zubul, governor of the city, heard the words of Gaal the son of Ebed, then was kindled his anger.
31 तिनले धोका दिने उद्देश्यले अबीमेलेककहाँ दूतकहरू पठाए, र यसो भन्न लगाए, “हेर्नुहोस्, एबेदका छोरा गाल र तिनका नातेदारहरू शकेममा आउँदैछन्, र तिनीहरूले सहरलाई तपाईंका विरुद्ध उचाल्दैछन् ।
And he sent messengers unto Abimelech, by deceit, saying, —Lo! Gaal son of Ebed, and his brethren, are coming into Shechem; and lo! are fortifying the city against thee.
32 अब, तपाईं र तपाईंका सेनाहरू रातको समयमा उठ्नुहोस्, र मैदानमा आक्रमण गर्नलाई तयार बस्नुहोस् ।
Now, therefore, up by night, thou and the people that are with thee, and lie in wait in the field;
33 अनि बिहान, घाम उदाउने बित्तिकै, उठ्नुहोस् र सहरमा आक्रमण गर्नुहोस् । जब तिनी र तिनीसँग भएका मानिसहरू तपाईंको विरुद्धमा बाहिर आउँछन्, तब तिनीहरूलाई के गर्नुपर्छ त्यो गर्नुहोस् ।”
and it shall be, in the morning, about sunrise, thou shalt get up early, and spread thyself out against the city, —when lo! he and the people that are with him coming out against thee, so shalt thou do unto him as thy hand shall find opportunity.
34 यसैकारण अबीमेलेक, र उनीसँग भएका सबै मानिस रातको समयमा उठे, र शकेमलाई आक्रमण गर्नको निम्ति चार समुहमा विभाजित भई ढुकेर बसे ।
So Abimelech rose up, and all the people that were with him, by night, —and they lay in wait above Shechem, in four companies.
35 एबेदका छोरा गाल बाहिर निस्के र सहरको ढोकामा खडा भए । अबीमेलेक र उनीसँग भएका मानिसहरू तिनीहरू लुकिरहेका ठाउँबाट बाहिर निस्के ।
Then came forth Gaal son of Ebed, and took his stand at the opening of the gate of the city, —so Abimelech rose up, and the people that were with him, from the place of ambush.
36 जब गालले मानिसहरूलाई देखे, उनले जबूललाई भने, “हेर, मानिसहरू डाँडाका चुचुराबाट तल आउँदैछन्!” जबूलले तिनलाई भने, “तिमीले जे देख्दैछौ त्यो मानिसहरूजस्ता डाँडाका छाया हुन् ।”
And, when Gaal saw the people, he said unto Zebul, Lo! people coming down from the tops of the mountains. And Zebul said unto him, The shadow of the mountains, thou seest, like men.
37 गालले फेरि बोले र यसो भने, “हेर, मानिसहरू तल मैदानको बिचमा आइरहेका छन् र एउटा समुहचाहिं जोखना हेर्नेको रूखको बाटो हुँदै आउँदैछ ।”
Then did Gaal yet further speak, and say—Lo! people coming down from the highest part of the land, —and one company, coming in by way of the Conjurers’ Terebinth.
38 अनि जबूलले तिनलाई भने, “तिम्रा घमण्डपूर्ण कुराहरू अब कहाँ छन्? तिमीले भन्थ्यौ, ‘अबीमेलेक को हो र हामीले किन त्यसको सेवा गर्नुपर्ने?’ तिमीले तुच्छ ठानेका मानिसहरू यी नै होइनन्? अब बाहिर जाऊ र तिनीहरूका विरुद्ध युद्ध लड ।”
So then Zebul said unto him—Where, then, is thy mouth that kept on saying, Who is Abimelech, that we should serve him? Is not, this, the people which thou didst despise? Go forth, I pray thee, now, and fight with them!
39 गाल बाहिर निस्के र तिनी शकेमका मानिसहरूका अगि-अगि गए, र तिनले अबीमेलेकसँग युद्ध लडे ।
And Gaal went forth before the owners of Shechem, —and fought against Abimelech.
40 अबीमेलेकले तिनलाई खेदे र गाल तिनको सामुबाट भागे । सहरको ढोकामा धेरै जना घाइते भएर मरे ।
And Abimelech chased him, and he fled before him, —and there fell a multitude of slain as far as the entering of the gate.
41 अबीमेलेक अरूमाहमा बसे । जबूलले गाल र तिनका नातेदारहरूललाई शकेमबाट बाहिर निकाले ।
Then dwelt Abimelech in Arumah, —and Zebul thrust out Gaal and his brethren, that they should not dwell in Shechem.
42 अर्को दिन शकेमका मानिसहरू मैदानमा निस्के, र यस कुराको जानकारी अबीमेलेकलाई दिइयो ।
And it came to pass, on the morrow, that the people went forth into the field, —and they told Abimelech.
43 तिनले आफ्ना मानिसहरू लिए, उनीहरूलाई तिन समुहमा बाँडे, र तिनीहरू मैदानमा आक्रमण गर्नलाई ढुकेर बसे । उनले हेरे र सहरबाट मानिसहरू बाहिर आइरहेका देखे, र उनले आक्रमण गरे र तिनीहरूलाई मारे ।
So he took the people and divided them into three companies, and lay in wait in the field, —and he looked, and lo! the people coming forth out of the city, so he rose up against them, and smote them.
44 अबीमेलेक र उनीसँग भएका समुहहरूले आक्रमण गरेर सहरको ढोकालाई थुनिदिए । अरू दुई समुहले भने मैदानमा भएकाहरू सबैलाई आक्रमण गरे र तिनीहरूलाई मारे ।
And, Abimelech, and the companies that were with him, spread themselves out, and [one of the companies] took their stand at the opening of the gate of the city, —while, the two companies, spread themselves out against all that were in the field, and smote them.
45 अबीमेलेक सहरको विरुद्ध दिनभर युद्ध लडे । तिनले त्यो सहरमाथि कब्जा गरे, र त्यहाँ भएका मानिसहरूलाई मारे । तिनले सहरका पर्खालहरूलाई भत्काइदिए र त्यसमाथि नून छरिदिए ।
And, Abimelech, fought against the city, all that day, and captured the city, the people also that were therein, he slew, —and brake down the city, and sowed it with salt.
46 शकेमका किल्लाका सबै अगुवाहरूले जब यो सुने, तब तिनीहरू एल-बरीतको मन्दिरको किल्लामा प्रवेश गरे ।
And, when all the owners of the tower of Shechem heard, they entered into the basement of the house of El-berith.
47 सबै अगुवाहरू शकेमको किल्लामा भेला भएका छन् भनेर अबीमेलेकलाई बताइयो ।
And it was told Abimelech, that all the owners of the tower of Shechem had gathered themselves together.
48 अबीमेलेक र तिनीसँग भएका सबै मानिसहरू माथि सल्मोन डाँडातर्फ गए । अबीमेलेकले एउटा बन्चरो लिएर हाँगाहरू काटे । तिनले ती आफ्ना काँधमा बोके र आफूसँग भएका मानिसहरूलाई आज्ञा गरे, “मैले जे गरेको देखिरहेका छौ, छिटो-छिटो त्यसै गर ।”
So Abimelech went up Mount Zalmon, he and all the people that were with him, and Abimelech took an axe in his hand, and cut down a bough from the trees, and lifted it, and laid it on his shoulder, —and said unto the people that were with him—What ye have seen me do, haste! do likewise.
49 यसैले हरेक व्यक्तिले हाँगाहरू काटे र अबीमेलेकको पछि लागे । तिनीहरूले ती किल्लाका पर्खालहरूमा अडाएर थुपारे, अनि त्यसमा आगो लगाइदिए, जसको कारणले शकेमको किल्लामा भएका सबै मानिसहरू, करीब एक हजार पुरुष र स्त्री मरे ।
So, even all the people cut down every man his bough, and followed Abimelech, and laid them over the basement, and set it on fire over them who were therein, —even all the men of the tower of Shechem died about a thousand men and women.
50 त्यसपछि अबीमेलेक तेबेसमा गए, र उनले तेबेसको विरूद्ध छाउनी हाले र त्यसलाई कब्जा गरे ।
Then went Abimelech unto Thebez, —and encamped against Thebez, and captured it.
51 तर त्यस सहरमा एउटा बलियो किल्ला थियो, अनि त्यस सहरका सबै पुरुष र स्त्री र सबै अगुवाहरू त्यहाँ भागेर भित्रबाट ढोका थुने । तब तिनीहरू त्यस किल्लाको टुप्पोमा गए ।
Now, a strong tower, was in the midst of the city, and there fled thither all the men and the women, and all the owners of the city, and shut themselves in, —and went up on the roof of the tower.
52 अबीमेलेक त्यो किल्लामा आए र त्यसको विरुद्ध लडे, र त्यस किल्लालाई जलाउन भनेर तिनी त्यसको ढोकानजिक आइपुगे ।
And Abimelech came in as far as the tower, and fought against it, —and so came near, as far as the entrance of the tower, to burn it with fire.
53 तर एउटी स्त्रीले अबीमेलेकको शिरमा जाँतोको माथिल्लो फक्लेटो झारी र त्यसले तिनको खप्पर फुट्यो ।
And a certain woman cast an upper millstone upon the head of Abimelech, —and brake in pieces his skull.
54 त्यसपछि उनले आफ्नो हतियार बोक्ने जवान मानिसलाई झट्टै बोलाए र उसलाई भने, “आफ्नो तरवार झिकेर मलाई मार्, ताकि कसैले मेरो बारेमा यस्तो नभनोस्, ‘एउटी स्त्रीले त्यसलाई मारी ।’” त्यसैले तिनका जवान मानिसले तिनलाई तरवारले छेडिदिए, र तिनी मरे ।
Then called he hastily unto the young man bearing his armour, and said unto him—Draw thy sword, and put me to death, lest they say of me, A woman, slew him! So his young man thrust him through, and he died.
55 जब इस्राएलका मानिसहरूले अबीमेलेक मरेको देखे, तिनीहरू घर फर्के ।
And, when the men of Israel saw that Abimelech was, dead, they went their way every man to his own place.
56 यसरी परमप्रभुले अबीमेलेकले आफ्ना सत्तरी दाजुभाइहरूलाई मारेर आफ्ना बुबाको विरुद्ध गरेका दुष्टताको बदला लिनुभयो ।
Thus did God requite the wickedness of Abimelech, which he had done to his father, in slaying his seventy brethren;
57 परमेश्वरले शकेमका मानिसहरूका दुष्टतालाई तिनीहरूकै टाउकोमा खन्याइदिनुभयो र तिनीहरूमाथि यरूब-बालका छोरा योतामको सराप पर्यो ।
all the wickedness also, of the men of Shechem, did God requite upon their own head, —and so brought in upon, them the curse of Jotham, son of Jerubbaal.
