न्यायकर्ताहरू 8

1 एफ्राइमका मानिसहरूले गिदोनलाई भने, “तपाईंले हामीलाई यो के गर्नुभयो? तपाईं मिद्दानीहरूका विरुद्धमा युद्ध गर्न जानुहुँदा तपाईंले हामीलाई बोलाउनुभएन ।” तब उनीहरूले तिनीसँग ठुलो बहस भयो ।

And the men of Ephraim said to him: What is this that thou meanest to do, that thou wouldst not call us when thou wentest to fight against Madian? and they chid him sharply and almost offered violence.

2 तिनले उनीहरूलाई भने, “तिमीहरूले गरेका तुलनामा मैले के नै गरेको छु र? के अबीएजेरको सबै दाखको फसलभन्दा एफ्राइमको बोटमा टिप्‍न छुटेका दाख नै असल छैनन् र?

And he answered them: What could I have done like to that which you have done? Is not one bunch of grapes of Ephraim better than the vintages of Abiezer?

3 परमेश्‍वरले तिमीहरूलाई मिद्दानी शासकहरू, ओरेब र जएबमाथि विजय दिनुभएको छ! तिमीहरूका तुलनामा मैले के प्राप्‍त गरेको छु र?” जब तिनले यसो भने तब तिनीप्रतिको उनीहरूको रिस मर्‍यो ।

The Lord hath delivered into your bands the princes of Madian, Oreb and Zeb: what could I have done like to what you have done? And when he had said this, their spirit was appeased, with which they swelled against him.

4 गिदोन यर्दनमा आए, र तिनी र तिनीसँग भएका तिन सय जना मानिसले त्यो तरे । तिनीहरू थाकेका थिए, तापनि तिनीहरूले खेद्‍ने काम गरिरहे ।

And when Gedeon was come to the Jordan, he passed over it with the three hundred men, that were with him: who were so weary that they could not pursue after them that fled.

5 तिनले सुक्‍कोतका मानिसहरूलाई भने, “कृपया मेरो पछि आएका मानिसहरूलाई केही रोटी दिनुहोस्, किनकि तिनीहरू थाकेका छन्, र मचाहिं मिद्दानी राजा जेबह र सल्मुन्‍नालाई खेद्दैछु ।”

And he said to the men of Soccoth: Give, I beseech you, bread to the people that is with me, for they are faint: that we may pursue Zebee, and Salmana the kings of Madian.

6 तब अधिकारीहरूले भने, “के जेबह र सल्मुन्‍ना अब तिम्रा हातमा छन् र? हामीले तिम्रो सेनालाई रोटी किन दिनुपर्‍यो?”

The princes of Soccoth answered: Peradventure the palms of the hands of Zebee and Salmana are in thy hand, and therefore thou demandest that we should give bread to thy army.

7 गिदोनले भने, “परमप्रभुले हामीलाई जेबह र सल्मुन्‍नामाथि विजय दिनुभएपछि, मरुभूमिका काँढाहरू र घोच्ने झाडीले म तिमीहरूका छाला काढ्नेछु ।”

And he said to them: When the Lord therefore shall have delivered Zebee and Salmana into my hands, I will thresh your flesh with the thorns and briers of the desert.

8 त्यहाँबाट तिनी पनीएलमा गए र त्यहाँका मानिसहरूसँग पनि त्यही कुरा भने, तर पनीएलका मानिसहरूले तिनलाई सुक्‍कोतका मानिसहरूले झैं बोलेर जवाफ दिए ।

And going up from thence, he came to Phanuel: and he spoke the like things to the men of that place. And they also answered him, as the men of Soccoth had answered.

9 तिनले पनीएलका मानिसहरूसँग पनि बोले र यसो भने, “जब म फेरि सकुशल आउनेछु, तब म यो किल्ला भत्काइदिनेछु ।”

He said therefore to them also: When I shall return a conqueror in peace, I will destroy this tower.

10 यति बेला जेबह र सल्मुन्‍ना आफ्ना पन्ध्र हजार मानिससहित कर्कोरमा थिए । पूर्वका मानिसहरूका सबै सेनाहरूमा यति नै बाँकी थिए, कनभने त्यहाँ तरवार चलाउने एक लाख बिस हजार मानिसहरू मारिएका थिए ।

But Zebee and Salmana were resting with all their army. For fifteen thousand men were left of all the troops of the eastern people, and one hundred and twenty thousand warriors that drew the sword, were slain.

11 नोबह र योगबहाभन्दा उता पालमा बस्‍नेहरूका हिंड्‍ने बाटोमा गिदोन अगि बढे । तिनले शत्रुको सेनालाई परास्त गरे, किनकि आक्रमण हुन्छ भनेर तिनीहरूले सोचेका थिएनन् ।

And Gedeon went up by the way of them that dwelt in tents, on the east of Nobe and Jegbaa, and smote the camp of the enemies, who were secure, and suspected no hurt.

12 जेबह र सल्मुन्‍ना भागे, र जब गिदोनले तिनीहरूलाई खेदे, तब तिनले मिद्दानका ती दुई जना राजा जेबह र सल्मुन्‍नालाई समाते, र तिनीहरूका जम्मै सेनाहरूमा त्रास ल्‍याए ।

And Zebee and Salmana fled, and Gedeon pursued and took them, all their host being put in confusion.

13 योआशका छोरा गिदोन युद्धबाट फर्केर हेरेस भन्‍ज्‍याङ्को बाटो गए ।

And returning from the battle before the sun rising,

14 तिनले सुक्‍कोतका एक जना जवान मानिसलाई समाए र उसलाई सोधे । त्यस जवान मानिसले सुक्‍कोतका सतहत्तर जना अधिकारी र एल्डरका नाउँ लेखिदियो ।

He took a boy of the men of Soccoth: and he asked him the names of the princes and ancients of Soccoth, and he described unto him seventy-seven men.

15 गिदोन सुक्‍कोतका मानिसहरूकहाँ आए र भने “जेबह र सल्मुन्‍नालाई हेर, जसको बारेमा तिमीहरूले मेरो खिल्ली गर्‍यौ र यसो भन्‍यौ, ‘के तिमीले जेबह र सल्मुन्‍नालाई परास्‍त गरिसकेका छौ र? हामीले तिम्रा सेनालाई रोटी दिनुपर्छ भन्‍ने कुरा हामीलाई थाहा छैन ।’”

And he came to Soccoth and said to them: Behold Zebee and Salmana, concerning whom you upbraided me, saying: Peradventure the hands of Zebee and Salmana, are in thy hands, and therefore thou demandest that we should give bread to the men that are weary and faint.

16 गिदोनले सहरका एल्डरहरूलाई नियन्त्रणमा लिए, र तिनले सुक्‍कोतका मानिसहरूलाई मरुभूमिका काँढाहरू र घोच्ने झाडीले दण्ड दिए ।

So he took the ancients of the city and thorns and briers of the desert, and tore them with the same, and cut in pieces the men of Soccoth.

17 तब तिनले पनीएलको किल्ला भत्काइदिए र त्यस सहरका मानिसहरूलाई मारे ।

And he demolished the tower of Phanuel, and slew the men of the city.

18 तब गिदोनले जेबह र सल्मुन्‍नालाई भने, “तिमीहरूले तबोरमा कस्ता मानिसहरूलाई मार्‍यौ?” तिनीहरूले जवाफ दिए, “तिनीहरू तपाईंजस्तै थिए । तिनीहरूमध्‍ये हरेक व्‍यक्‍ति राजाका छोराजस्‍ता देखिन्थे ।”

And he said to Zebee and Salmana: What manner of men were they whom you slew in Thabor? They answered: They were like thee, and one of them as the son of a king.

19 गिदोनले भने, “तिनीहरू मेरा दाजु-भाइ, मेरी आमाका छोराहरू थिए । परमप्रभु जीवित हुनुभएको हुनाले, तिमीहरूले तिनीहरूलाई जीवितै राखेका भए, म तिमीहरूलाई मार्ने थिइनँ ।”

He answered them: They were my brethren, the sons of my mother. As the Lord liveth, if you had saved them, I would not kill you.

20 तिनले आफ्नो जेठो छोरो येतेरलाई भने, “उठ्‍ र उनीहरूलाई मार् ।” तर त्यो जवान मानिसले आफ्नो तरवार झिकेन किनकि ऊ डरायो, किनभने ऊ अझैसम्‍म एउटा सानो केटो नै थियो ।”

And he said to Jether his eldest son: Arise, and slay them. But he drew not his sword: for he was afraid, being but yet a boy.

21 त्यसपछि जेबह र सल्मुन्‍नाले भने, “तपाईं नै उठेर हामीलाई मार्नुहोस्! किनभने तपाईंसँग पुरुषको बल छ ।” गिदोन उठे र जेबह र सल्मुन्‍नालाई मारे । तिनले उनीहरूका ऊँटका घाँटीमा भएका चन्द्रहारका गहनाहरू पनि लगे ।

And Zebee and Salmana said: Do thou rise, and run upon us: because the strength of a man is according to his age: Gedeon rose up and slew Zebee and Salmana: and he took the ornaments and bosses, with which the necks of the camels of kings are wont to be adorned.

22 त्यसपछि इस्राएलका मानिसहरूले गिदोनलाई भने, “तपाईं, तपाईंका छोरा, तपाईंका नातिले हामीमाथि राज्य गरून्, किनभने तपाईंले हामीलाई मिद्दानीका हातबाट बचाउनुभएको छ ।”

And all the men of Israel said to Gedeon: Rule thou over us and thy son, and thy son’s son: because thou hast delivered us from the hand of Madian.

23 गिदोनले तिनीहरूलाई भने, “म तिमीहरूमाथि राज्य गर्नेछैनँ, न त मेरो छोराले राज्य गर्नेछ । परमप्रभुले नै तिमीहरूमाथि राज्य गर्नुहुनेछ ।”

And he said to them: I will not rule over you, neither shall my son rule over you, but the Lord shall rule over you.

24 गिदोनले तिनीहरूलाई भने, “म तिमीहरूसँग एउटा अनुरोध गर्न चाहन्छु: तिमीहरू हरेकले आफ्नो लुटको सामानबाट मलाई कुण्डलहरू देओ ।” (मिद्दानीहरूले सुनका कुण्डल लगाउँथे, किनभने तिनीहरू इश्माएलीहरू थिए ।)

And he said to them: I desire one request of you: Give me the earlets of your spoils. For the Ismaelites were accustomed to wear golden earlets.

25 तिनीहरूले जवाफ दिए, “ती तपाईंलाई दिन हामी खुशी छौं ।” तिनीहरूले एउटा लुगा ओछ्याए र हरेक मानिसले आफ्नो लुटको सामनाबाट कुण्डलचाहिँ त्यसमा राखे ।

They answered: We will give them most willingly. And spreading a mantle on the ground, they cast upon it the earlets of the spoils.

26 उनले अनुरोध गरेका सुनका कुण्डलको तौल १,७०० शेकेल सुन भयो । यी सुन ती चन्द्रहारका गहनाहरू, अरू गहनाहरू, मिद्दानी राजाहरूले लगाएका बैजनी वस्‍त्र, र तिनीहरूका ऊँटका घाँटीमा भएका सिक्रीहरूभन्दा बाहेकका थिए ।

And the weight of the earlets that he requested, was a thousand seven hundred sicles of gold, besides the ornaments, and jewels, and purple raiment which the kings of Madian were went to use, and besides the golden chains that were about the camels’ necks.

27 गिदोनले ती कुण्डलहरूबाट एउटा एपोद बनाए र आफ्नो सहर ओप्रामा राखे, र सबै इस्राएलले त्यसको पुजा गरेर वेश्याजस्‍तै भए । गिदोन र उनका घरमा भएकाहरूका निम्ति यो एउटा पासो हुन गयो ।

And Gedeon made an ephod thereof, and put it in his city Ephra. And all Israel committed fornication with it, and it became a ruin to Gedeon and to all his house.

28 यसरी मिद्दानीहरू इस्राएलका मानिसहरूका अधीनमा रहे र तिनीहरूले आफ्नो शिर फेरि कहिल्यै उठाएनन् । यसरी गिदोनको समयमा देशमा चालिस वर्षसम्‍म शान्ति भयो ।

But Madian was humbled before the children of Israel, neither could they any more lift up their beads: but the land rested for forty years, while Gedeon presided.

29 योआशका छोरा, यरूब-बाल गए र आफ्नै घरमा बसे ।

So Jerobaal the son of Joas went, and dwelt in his own house.

30 गिदोनको वंशमा सत्तरी छोराहरू थिए, किनकि तिनका धेरै जना पत्‍नीहरू थिए ।

And he had seventy sons, who came out of his thigh, for he had many wives.

31 शकेमामा बस्‍ने तिनकी उपपत्‍नीले पनि तिनको निम्ति एउटा छोरो जन्माइन्, र गिदोनले उसको नाउँ अबीमेलेक राखे ।

And his concubine, that he had in Sichem, bore him a son, whose name was Abimelech.

32 योआशका छोरा गिदोन धेरै वृद्ध अवस्थामा मरे र तिनलाई आफ्नै बुबा योआशको चिहानमा अबीएजेरीहरूको ओप्रामा गाडियो ।

And Gedeon the son of Joas died in a good old age, and was buried in the sepulchre of his father in Ephra of the family of Ezri.

33 गिदोनको मृत्यु हुनेबित्तिकै यस्‍तो भयो, इस्राएलका मानिसहरू फेरि फर्के र बाल देवताहरूको पुजा गरेर वेश्याजस्‍ता भए । तिनीहरूले बाल-बरीतलाई आफ्नो देवता बनाए ।

But after Gedeon was dead, the children of Israel turned again, and committed fornication with Baalim. And they made a covenant with Baal, that he should be their god:

34 इस्राएलका मानिसहरूले परमप्रभु आफ्ना परमेश्‍वरलाई सम्मान गर्न सम्‍झेनन्, जसले तिनीहरूलाई आफ्‍ना वरिपरि भएका सबै शत्रुबाट बचाउनुभएको थियो ।

And they remembered not the Lord their God, who delivered them out of the hands of all their enemies round about:

35 यरूब-बालले (अर्थात् गिदोनले) इस्राएलमा तिनीहरूका निम्ति गरेका सबै असल कुराहरूका खातिर तिनीहरूले गिदोनको घरानालाई गरेका आफ्ना प्रतिज्ञाहरूलाई पुरा गरेनन् ।

Neither did they shew mercy to the house of Jerobaal Gedeon, according to all the good things he had done to Israel.
