न्यायकर्ताहरू 1

1 यहोशूको मृत्युपछि, इस्राएलका मानिसहरूले परमप्रभुलाई यसो भनेर सोधे, “हाम्रा निम्ति कनानीहरूका विरुद्धमा युद्ध लड्‍नलाई तिनीहरूलाई पहिला कसले आक्रमण गर्नुपर्छ?”

And it came to pass after the death of Joshua, that the sons of Israel asked of Jehovah, saying, Who shall go up for us first against the Canaanites, to fight against them?

2 परमप्रभुले भन्‍नुभयो, “यहूदाले आक्रमण गर्नेछ । हेर, मैले तिनीहरूलाई यस देशमाथि अधिकार दिएको छु ।”

And Jehovah said, Judah shall go up. Behold, I have delivered the land into his hand.

3 यहूदाका मानिसहरूले आफ्ना दाजुभाइ शिमियोनीहरूलाई यसो भने, “हामीलाई दिइएको इलाकामा हामीसँग आओ, यसरी कनानीहरूका विरुद्ध हामीले एकसाथ युद्ध लड्‍न सक्‍छौं । त्‍यसरी नै हामी पनि तिमीहरूलाई दिइएको इलाकामा तिमीहरूसँग जानेछौं ।” यसैले शिमियोनी कुल तिनीहरूसँग गए ।

And Judah said to Simeon his brother, Come up with me into my lot, that we may fight against the Canaanites, and I likewise will go with thee into thy lot. So Simeon went with him.

4 यहूदाका मानिसहरूले आक्रमण गरे, र परमप्रभुले तिनीहरूलाई कनानीहरू र परिज्‍जीहरूमाथि विजय दिनुभयो । तिनीहरूले बेजेकमा तिनीहरूका दश हजार जनालाई मारे ।

And Judah went up, and Jehovah delivered the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hand, and they smote of them in Bezek ten thousand men.

5 तिनीहरूले बेजेकमा अदोनी-बेजेकलाई भेट्टाए, र उनको विरुद्ध तिनीहरू लडे, अनि कनानीहरू र परिज्‍जीहरूलाई परास्त गरे ।

And they found Adoni-bezek in Bezek, and they fought against him, and they smote the Canaanites and the Perizzites.

6 तर अदोनी-बेजेक भागे, र तिनीहरूले उनलाई लखेटे र समाए, र तिनीहरूले उनका हात र खुट्टाका बुढी औंला काटिदिए ।

But Adoni-bezek fled, and they pursued after him, and caught him, and cut off his thumbs and his great toes.

7 अदोनी-बेजेकले भने, “हात र खुट्टाका बुढी औंला काटिएका सत्तरी जना राजाले मेरो टेबिलको मुनिबाट आफ्‍नो निम्ति भोजन बाटुल्‍थे । मैले जस्तो गरेको थिएँ, परमेश्‍वरले मलाई त्यस्तै गर्नुभएको छ ।” तिनीहरूले उनलाई यरूशलेममा ल्याए, र उनी त्यहीं मरे ।

And Adoni-bezek said, Seventy kings, having their thumbs and their great toes cut off, gathered scraps under my table. As I have done, so God has requited me. And they brought him to Jerusalem, and he died there.

8 यहूदाका मानिसहरू यरूशलेम सहरको विरुद्धमा युद्ध गरे र त्यसलाई कब्जामा लिए । तिनीहरूले त्यो सहरलाई तरवारको धारले आक्रमण गरे र त्यसमा आगो लगाइदिए ।

And the sons of Judah fought against Jerusalem, and took it, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and set the city on fire.

9 त्यसपछि, यहूदाका मानिसहरू पहाडी देश, नेगेव र पश्‍चिमी पहाडका फेदीहरूमा बसोबास गर्ने कनानीहरूकहाँ युद्ध गर्न गए ।

And afterward the sons of Judah went down to fight against the Canaanites who dwelt in the hill-country, and in the South, and in the lowland.

10 यहूदा हेब्रोनमा बस्‍ने (हेब्रोनको नाउँ पहिला किर्यत-अर्बा थियो) कनानीहरूतर्फ अगाडि बढे, र तिनीहरूले शेशै, अहीमन, र तल्मैलाई परास्त गरे ।

And Judah went against the Canaanites who dwelt in Hebron (now the name of Hebron was formerly Kiriath-arba), and they smote Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai.

11 त्यहाँबाट यहूदाका मानिसहरू दबीरका बासिन्दाहरूतर्फ अगि बढे (पहिला दबीरको नाउँ किर्यत-सेपेर थियो) ।

And from there he went against the inhabitants of Debir. (Now the name of Debir was formerly Kiriath-sepher.)

12 कालेबले भने, “जसले किर्यत-सेपेरलाई आक्रमण गर्छ र त्यसलाई लिन्‍छ, त्यसको पत्‍नी हुनलाई मेरी छोरी अक्सालाई म दिनेछु ।”

And Caleb said, He who smites Kiriath-sepher, and takes it, I will give to him Achsah my daughter to wife.

13 कालेबका भाइ कनजका छोरा, ओत्‍निएलले दबीरमाथि कब्जा गरे, यसैले कालेबले आफ्नी छोरी अक्सा तिनकी पत्‍नी हुनलाई दिए ।

And Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother, took it, and he gave him Achsah his daughter to wife.

14 चाँडै नै अक्सा ओत्‍निएलकहाँ आइन्, र आफ्ना बुबासँग तिनको निम्ति एउटा जमिन मागिदिनलाई बिन्ती गरिन् । तिनी आफ्नो गधाबाट तल झर्दै गर्दा, कालेबले तिनलाई सोधे, “तिम्रो निम्ति म के गर्न सक्‍छु?”

And it came to pass, when she came to him, that she moved him to ask of her father a field. And she alighted from off her donkey, and Caleb said to her, What would thou?

15 तिनले उनलाई भनिन्, “मलाई एउटा आशिष् दिनुहोस् । तपाईंले मलाई नेगेवको भूमि दिनुभएको छ, मलाई पानीका मूलहरू पनि दिनुहोस् ।” यसैले कालेबले तिनलाई माथिल्लो र तल्लो पानीका मूलहरू दिए ।

And she said to him, Give me a blessing, since thou have set me in the land of the South, give me also springs of water. And Caleb gave her the upper springs and the nether springs.

16 मोशाका ससुराका वंश, केनीहरू खजूरका रूखहरूको सहरबाट आरादको नजिक यहूदाको उजाड-स्‍थानमा त्यहाँका मानिसहरूसँग बस्‍न गए, जुन नेगेवमा पर्छ ।

And the sons of the Kenite, Moses' brother-in-law, went up out of the city of palm trees with the sons of Judah into the wilderness of Judah, which is in the south of Arad, and they went and dwelt with the people.

17 यहूदाका मानिसहरू आफ्ना दाजुभाइ शिमियोनका मानिसहरूसँग गए र तिनीहरूले सपतमा बसोबास गर्ने कनानीहरूलाई आक्रमण गरे र त्यसलाई पूर्ण रूपमा नाश गरे । त्यस सहरको नाउँ होर्मा थियो ।

And Judah went with Simeon his brother, and they smote the Canaanites that inhabited Zephath, and utterly destroyed it. And the name of the city was called Hormah.

18 यहूदाका मानिसहरूले गाजा र त्यसको आसपासको क्षेत्र, अश्कलोन र त्यसको आसपासको क्षेत्र, अनि एक्रोन र त्यसको आसपासको क्षेत्र पनि कब्जा गरे ।

Also Judah took Gaza with the border of it, and Ashkelon with the border of it, and Ekron with the border of it.

19 परमप्रभु यहूदाका मानिसहरूसँग हुनुहुन्थ्यो र तिनीहरूले पहाडी देशमाथि अधिकार गरे, तर तिनीहरूले मैदानका बासिन्दाहरूलाई बाहिर निकाल्न सकेनन्, किनभने तिनीहरूसँग फलामका रथहरू थिए ।

And Jehovah was with Judah, and drove out those of the hill-country. But they could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley because they had chariots of iron.

20 कालेबलाई हेब्रोन दिइयो (मोशाले भनेझैं), र तिनले त्यहाँबाट अनाकका तिन जना छोरालाई बाहिर निकाले ।

And they gave Hebron to Caleb, as Moses had spoken, and he drove out the three sons of Anak from there.

21 तर बेन्यामीनका मानिसहरूले यरूशलेममा बसोबास गर्ने यबूसीहरूलाई बाहिर निकालेनन् । यसैले यरूशलेममा आजको दिनसम्मै यबूसीहरू बेन्यामीनका मानिसहरूसँग बसोबास गर्दै आएका छन् ।

And the sons of Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites who inhabited Jerusalem, but the Jebusites dwell with the sons of Benjamin in Jerusalem to this day.

22 योसेफका घरानाले बेथेललाई आक्रमण गर्नको निम्ति तयारी गरे, र परमप्रभु तिनीहरूसँग हुनुहुन्थ्यो ।

And the house of Joseph, they also went up against Bethel, and Jehovah was with them.

23 तिनीहरूले बेथेलमा जासुसी गर्न मानिसहरू पठाए (त्यो सहरलाई पहिला लूज भनिन्थ्यो) ।

And the house of Joseph sent to spy out Bethel. (Now the name of the city was formerly Luz.)

24 ती जासुसहरूले सहरबाट एक जना मानिस बाहिर निस्कँदै गरेको देखे, र तिनीहरूले त्यसलाई भने, “सहरभित्र कसरी प्रवेश गर्ने भनेर कृपया हामीलाई देखाउनुहोस्, र तपाईंप्रति हामी दयालु हुनेछौं ।”

And the spies saw a man come forth out of the city, and they said to him, Show us, we pray thee, the entrance into the city, and we will deal kindly with thee.

25 उसले तिनीहरूलाई त्यो सहरभित्र जाने बाटो देखायो, र यसैले तिनीहरूले त्यो सहरलाई तरवारको धारले आक्रमण गरे, तर तिनीहरूले त्यस मानिस र उसका जम्मै परिवारलाई जान दिए ।

And he showed them the entrance into the city. And they smote the city with the edge of the sword, but they let the man go and all his family.

26 तब त्यो मानिस हित्तीहरूको देशमा गयो र एउटा सहर निर्माण गर्‍यो अनि त्यसलाई लूज नाउँ दियो, र आजसम्मै त्‍यसको नाउँ हो ।

And the man went into the land of the Hittites, and built a city, and called the name of it Luz, which is the name of it to this day.

27 मनश्शेका मानिसहरूले बेथ-शान, तानाक, डोर, यिबलाम, र मगीद्दो र ती सबैका गाउँहरूमा बसोबास गर्नेहरूलाई बाहिर निकालेनन्, किनभने कनानीहरूले ती ठाउँहरूमा बस्‍ने पक्‍का गरेका थिए ।

And Manasseh did not drive out those of Beth-shean and its towns, nor of Taanach and its towns, nor the inhabitants of Dor and its towns, nor the inhabitants of Ibleam and its towns, nor the inhabitants of Megiddo and its towns, but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.

28 जब इस्राएल शक्तिशाली भ ए, तिनीहरूले कनानीहरूलाई आफ्नो निम्ति कडा परिश्रमले सेवा गर्न लगाए, तर तिनीहरूलाई कहिल्यै पनि पूर्ण रूपमा बाहिर निकालेनन् ।

And it came to pass, when Israel grew strong, that they put the Canaanites to task work, and did not utterly drive them out.

29 एफ्राइमले गेजेरमा बसोबास गर्ने कनानीहरूलाई बाहिर निकालेनन्, यसैले कनानीहरू गेजेरमा तिनीहरूका माझमा नै बसोबास गरे ।

And Ephraim did not drive out the Canaanites who dwelt in Gezer, but the Canaanites dwelt in Gezer among them.

30 जबूलूनले कित्रोन वा नहलोलमा बसोबास गर्ने मानिसहरूलाई बाहिर निकालेनन्, र यसैले कनानीहरू तिनीहरूका माझमा नै बसोबास गरे, तर जबूलूनले कनानीहरूलाई कडा परिश्रमसँग तिनीहरूहरूको सेवा गर्न लगाए ।

Zebulun did not drive out the inhabitants of Kitron, nor the inhabitants of Nahalol, but the Canaanites dwelt among them, and became subject to task work.

31 आशेरले अक्‍को, सीदोन, अहलाब, अक्जीब, हेलवा, अपेक, र रहोबमा बसोबास गर्ने मानिसहरूलाई बाहिर निकालेनन् ।

Asher did not drive out the inhabitants of Acco, nor the inhabitants of Sidon, nor of Ahlab, nor of Achzib, nor of Helbah, nor of Aphik, nor of Rehob,

32 यसैकारण आशेरको कुल कनानीहरूसँग (जो त्यस देशमा बसोबास गर्थे) बसोबास गरे, किनभने तिनीहरूले उनीहरूलाई बाहिर निकालेनन् ।

but the Asherites dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land, for they did not drive them out.

33 नप्‍तालीका कुलले बेथ-शेमेश र बेथ-अनातमा बसोबास गर्नेहरूलाई बाहिर निकालेनन् । यसैले नप्‍तालीको कुल कनानीहरूका (ती मानिसहरू जो त्यस देशमा बसोबास गर्थे) बिचमा बसोबास गरे । तथापि बेथ-शेमेश र बेथ-अनातका बासिन्दाहरूलाई नप्‍तलीको निम्ति कडा परिश्रम गर्न लगाइयो ।

Naphtali did not drive out the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh, nor the inhabitants of Beth-anath, but he dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land. Nevertheless the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh and of Beth-anath became subject to task work.

34 एमोरीहरूले दानका कुललाई पहाडी देशमा बसोबास गर्न बाध्‍ये पारे, र तिनीहरूलाई तल मैदान आउन दिएनन् ।

And the Amorites forced the sons of Dan into the hill-country, for they would not allow them to come down to the valley,

35 यसैले एमोरीहरू हेरेस पर्वत, अय्यालोन, र शाल्बीममा बसोबास गरे, तर योसेफका घरानाको सैन्य शक्तिले तिनीहरूलाई परास्त गर्‍यो, र तिनीहरूलाई कडा परिश्रमले उनीहरूको सेवा गर्न लगाइयो ।

but the Amorites would dwell in mount Heres, in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim. Yet the hand of the house of Joseph prevailed, so that they became subject to task work.

36 एमोरीहरूको सिमाना अक्रब्बीमको उकालोदेखि पहाडी देश सेलादेखि माथिसम्म पर्थ्यो ।

And the border of the Amorites was from the ascent of Akrabbim, from the rock, and upward.
