यहोशू 24

1 त्यसपछि यहोशूले इस्राएलका सबै कुललाई शकेममा भेला गरे र तिनीहरूका धर्म-गुरुहरू, तिनीहरूका अगुवाहरू, तिनीहरूका न्यायकर्ताहरू र तिनीहरूका अधिकृतहरूलाई बोलाए, र तिनीहरूले आफैलाई परमेश्‍वरको सामु प्रस्तुत गरे ।

And Joshua gathered together all the tribes of Israel at Shechem, and he called those greater by birth, and the leaders and judges and teachers. And they stood in the sight of the Lord.

2 यहोशूले सबै मानिसलाई भने, “परमप्रभु इस्राएलका परमेश्‍वर यसो भन्‍नुहुन्छ, 'तिमीहरूका पुर्खा अब्राहम र नाहोरका पिता तेरह लामो समयअगि यूफ्रेटिस नदीपारि बस्थे र तिनीहरूले देवताहरू पुज्दथे ।

And he spoke to the people in this way: “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: ‘Your fathers lived, in the beginning, across the river: Terah, the father of Abraham, and Nahor. And they served strange gods.

3 तर मैले तिमीहरूका पितालाई यूफ्रेटिस पारिबाट कनानको भूमिमा ल्याएँ र त्यसलाई त्यसको छोरा इसहाकद्वारा धेरै सन्तानहरू दिएँ ।

Then I brought your father Abraham from the parts of Mesopotamia, and I led him into the land of Canaan. And I multiplied his offspring,

4 त्यसपछि मैले इसहाकलाई याकूब र एसाव दिएँ । मैले पहाडी देश एसावको अधीनमा दिएँ, तर याकूब र तिनका सन्तानहरू मिश्र देशतिर तल गए ।

and I gave to him Isaac. And to him, I gave again Jacob and Esau. And I gave mount Seir to Esau as a possession. Yet truly, Jacob and his sons descended into Egypt.

5 मैले मोशा र हारूनलाई पठाएँ, र मैले मिश्रीहरूमाथि विपत्ति ल्याएँ । त्यसपछि मैले तिमीहरूलाई ल्याएँ ।

And I sent Moses and Aaron, and I struck Egypt with many signs and portents.

6 मैले तिमीहरूका पुर्खाहरूलाई मिश्रबाट ल्याएँ र तिमीहरू समुद्रमा आयौ । मिश्रीहरूले लाल समुद्रसम्म नै रथहरू र घोडाहरूसहित तिमीहरूको पिछा गरे ।

And I led you and your fathers away from Egypt, and you arrived at the sea. And the Egyptians pursued your fathers with chariots and horsemen, as far as the Red Sea.

7 जब तिमीहरूका पुर्खाहरूले परमप्रभुको पुकारा गरे, उहाँले तिमीहरू र मिश्रीहरूबिच अन्धकार राख्‍नुभयो । उहाँले समुद्रलाई तिनीहरूमाथि ल्याउनुभयो र तिनीहरूलाई ढाक्‍नुभयो । मैले मिश्रीहरूलाई गरेको कुरा तिमीहरूले देख्यौ । त्यसपछि तिमीहरू मरुभूमिमा लामो समयसम्म बस्यौ ।

Then the sons of Israel cried out to the Lord. And he stationed a darkness between you and the Egyptians, and he led the sea over them, and he covered them. Your eyes saw all that I did in Egypt, and you lived in the wilderness for a long time.

8 मैले तिमीहरूलाई एमोरीहरूको भूमिमा ल्याएँ, जो यर्दनपारि बस्थे । उनीहरू तिमीहरूसँग लडे र मैले तिनीहरूलाई तिमीहरूको हातमा दिएँ । तिमीहरूले तिनीहरूको भूमि अधीन गर्‍यौ र मैले तिनीहरूलाई तिमीहरूको सामु नष्‍ट गरेँ ।

And I led you into the land of the Amorite, who was living beyond the Jordan. And when they fought against you, I delivered them into your hands, and you possessed their land, and you put them to death.

9 त्यसपछि मोआबका राजा सिप्‍पोरका छोरा बालाक उठे र इस्राएललाई आक्रमण गरे । तिनले तिमीहरूलाई सराप दिन बओरका छोरा बालामलाई बोलाए ।

Then Balak, the son of Zippor, the king of Moab, rose up and fought against Israel. And he sent and called for Balaam, the son of Beor, so that he might curse you.

10 तर मैले बालामको कुरा सुनिनँ । वास्तवमा, तिनले तिमीहरूलाई आशिष् दिए । त्यसैले मैले तिमीहरूलाई त्यसको हातबाट छुटकारा दिएँ ।

And I was not willing to listen to him, but on the contrary, I blessed you through him, and I freed you from his hand.

11 तिमीहरूले यर्दन तर्‍यौ र यरीहोमा आयौ । यरीहोका अगुवाहरूले एमोरीहरू, परिज्‍जीहरू, कनानीहरू, हित्तीहरू, गिर्गाशीहरू, हित्तीहरू, हिव्वीहरू र यबूसीहरूसँगै तिमीहरूसँग लडे । मैले तिमीहरूलाई तिनीहरूमाथि विजय दिएँ र तिमीहरूको नियन्त्रणमा राखेँ ।

And you crossed over the Jordan, and you arrived at Jericho. And the men of that city fought against you: the Amorite, and the Perizzite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Girgashite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite. And I delivered them into your hands.

12 मैले तिमीहरूका अगिअगि अरिङ्गालहरू पठाएँ, जसले उनीहरूलाई र दुई जना एमोरी राजालाई धपाए । यो तिमीहरूको तरवार वा धानुवाणले भएको थिएन ।

And I sent wasps before you. And I drove them from their places, the two kings of the Amorites, but not by your sword, and not by your bow.

13 मैले तिमीहरूलाई तिमीहरूले श्रम नगरेको भूमि, तिमीहरूले निर्माण नगरेका सहरहरू दिएँ, र तिमीहरू तिनमा बस्छौ । तिमीहरूले नरोपेको दाखबारी र जैतूनको बगैँचाको फल तिमीहरूले खान्छौ ।'

And I gave you a land, in which you did not labor, and cities, which you did not build, so that you might live in them, and vineyards and olive groves, which you did not plant.’

14 परमप्रभुको भय मान र सारा इमानदारी र विश्‍वनीयतामा उहाँको आराधना गर; तिमीहरूका पुर्खाहरूले यूफ्रेटिसपारि पुजेका देवताहरूबाट अलग रहो र परमप्रभुको आराधना गर ।

Now therefore, fear the Lord, and serve him with a perfect and very sincere heart. And take away the gods that your fathers served in Mesopotamia and in Egypt, and serve the Lord.

15 यदि परमप्रभुको आराधना गर्न तिमीहरूको दृष्‍टिमा गलत देखिन्छ भने, तिमीहरूले कसको सेवा गर्ने तिमीहरूका पुर्खाहरूले यूफ्रेटिसपारि पुजेका देवताहरूको वा एमोरीहरूका देवताहरू जसको भूमिमा तिमीहरूले बसोबास गरेका छौ । तर म र मेरो घरानाले चाहिँ परमप्रभुको आराधना गर्छौं ।

But if it seems evil to you that you would serve the Lord, a choice is given to you. Choose today what pleases you, and whom you ought to serve above all else, either the gods that your fathers served in Mesopotamia, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you live: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

16 मानिसहरूले जवाफ दिए र भने, “अरू देवताहरूको सेवा गर्न हामी परमप्रभुलाई कहिल्यै त्याग्‍ने छैनौँ,

And the people responded, and they said: “Far be it from us that we would forsake the Lord, and serve foreign gods.

17 किनभने हामीलाई र हाम्रा पुर्खाहरूलाई मिश्र अर्थात् दासत्वको घरबाट ल्याउनुहुने परमप्रभु नै हाम्रा परमेश्‍वर हुनुहुन्छ, र उहाँले हाम्रो दृष्‍टिमा ठुला-ठुला चिन्हका कामहरू गर्नुभयो, हामी हिँडेका सबै मार्गमा र हामीले पार गरेका सबै जातिमाझ हामीलाई सुरक्षा दिनुभयो ।

The Lord our God himself led us and our fathers away from the land of Egypt, from the house of servitude. And he accomplished immense signs in our sight, and he preserved us along the entire way by which we journeyed, and among all the people through whom we passed.

18 त्यसपछि त्यो भूमिमा बसोबास गर्ने एमोरीहरूलगायत सबै मानिसलाई हाम्रो सामु धपाउनुभयो । त्यसैले हामी पनि परमप्रभुको सेवा गर्छौं किनकि उहाँ हाम्रो परमेश्‍वर हुनुहुन्छ ।

And he cast out all the nations, the Amorite, the inhabitant of the land that we entered. And so, we will serve the Lord, for he is our God.”

19 तर यहोशूले मानिसहरूलाई भने, “तिमीहरूले परमप्रभुको सेवा गर्न सक्‍दैनौ, किनभने उहाँ पवित्र हुनुहुन्छ, उहाँ डाही परमेश्‍वर हुनुहुन्छ; उहाँले तिमीहरूका पाप र अपराधलाई क्षमा गर्नुहुने छैन ।

And Joshua said to the people: “You will not be able to serve the Lord. For he is a holy and powerful God, and he is jealous, and he will not ignore your wickedness and sins.

20 यदि तिमीहरूले परमप्रभुलाई त्याग्यौ र विदेशी देवताहरू पुज्यौ भने उहाँ फर्कनुहुने छ र तिमीहरूलाई हानि गर्नुहुने छ । उहाँले तिमीहरूलाई असल गर्नुभएपछि तिमीहरूलाई नष्‍ट पार्नुहुने छ ।”

If you leave behind the Lord, and you serve foreign gods, he will turn himself, and he will afflict you, and he will overthrow you, after all the good that he has offered to you.”

21 तर मानिसहरूले यहोशूलाई भने, “होइन, हामी परमप्रभुको आराधना गर्ने छौँ ।

And the people said to Joshua, “By no means will it be as you are saying, but we will serve the Lord.”

22 त्यसपछि यहोशूले मानिसहरूलाई भने, “तिमीहरूले परमप्रभुको आराधना गर्ने छौ भनी आफैले चुनेका छौ भनी तिमीहरूको विरुद्धमा तिमीहरू आफै साक्षीहरू हौ । तिनीहरूले भने, “हामी साक्षी छौँ ।”

And Joshua said to the people, “You yourselves are witnesses, that you have chosen the Lord so that you may serve him.” And they answered, “We are witnesses.”

23 “अहिले तिमीहरूसँग भएका विदेशी देवताहरू फ्याँक, र तिमीहरूका हृदय परमप्रभु इस्राएलतिर फर्काओ ।”

“Now therefore,” he said, “take away strange gods from among yourselves, and incline your hearts to the Lord, the God of Israel.”

24 मानिसहरूले यहोशूलाई भने, “हामीले परमप्रभु हाम्रा परमेश्‍वको नै आराधना गर्ने छौँ । हामी उहाँको सोर सुन्‍ने छौँ ।

And the people said to Joshua, “We will serve the Lord our God, and we will be obedient to his precepts.”

25 यहोशूले त्यस दिन मानिसहरूसँग करार बाँधे । तिनले त्यस दिन आदेशहरू र व्यवस्थाहरू दिए ।

Therefore, on that day, Joshua struck a covenant, and he set before the people at Shechem the precepts and the judgments.

26 यहोशूले यी वचनहरूलाई परमेश्‍वरको व्यवस्थाको पुस्तकमा लेखे । तिनले ठुलो ढुङ्गा लिए र यसलाई परमप्रभुको नजिकको पवित्र वासस्थान नजिकै रुखमुनि खडा गरे ।

He also wrote all these things in the volume of the law of the Lord. And he took a very great stone, and he stationed it under the oak that was in the Sanctuary of the Lord.

27 यहोशूले सबै मानिसलाई भने, “हेर, यो ढुङ्गा तिमीहरूको विरुद्धमा गवाही हुने छ । परमप्रभुले हामीलाई भन्‍नुभएका सबै कुरा यसले सुनेको छ । त्यसैले तिमीहरूले तिमीहरूका परमेश्‍वरलाई त्याग्‍यौ भने, यो तिमीहरूका विरुद्ध गवाही हुने छ ।

And he said to all the people, “Lo, this stone shall be to you as a testimony, which has heard all the words of the Lord that he has spoken to you, lest perhaps, afterward, you might choose to deny it, and to lie to the Lord your God.”

28 यहोशूले मानिसहरूलाई हरेकको आ-आफ्ना उत्तराधिकारमा पठाए ।

And he dismissed the people, each one to their own possession.

29 यी सबै कुरा भएपछि नूनका छोरा यहोशू ११० वर्षको उमेरमा मरे ।

And after these things, Joshua, the son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died, being one hundred and ten years old.

30 तिनीहरूले तिनलाई आफ्‍नै अंशको सिमानाभित्र अर्थात् तिम्‍नथ-सेरामा नै गाडे, जुनचाहिँ एफ्राइमको पहाडी देश, गास पर्वत हो ।

And they buried him within the borders of his possession at Timnath-Serah, which is situated on mount Ephraim, before the northern side of mount Gaash.

31 इस्राएलले यहोशू र तिनीभन्दा पछिसम्म बाँचेका धर्म-गुरुहरूको जीवनकालभरि परमप्रभुको आराधना गरे, जसले परमप्रभुले इस्राएलका निम्ति गर्नुभएका सबै कुराको अनुभव गरेका थिए ।

And Israel served the Lord during all the days of Joshua, and of the elders who lived for a long time after Joshua, and who had known all the works of the Lord that he had accomplished in Israel.

32 इस्राएलका मानिसहरूले मिश्रबाट ल्याएका योसेफका हड्‍डीहरूलाई तिनीहरूले शकेममा गाडे, त्यो याकूबले शकेमका पिता हमोरका छोराहरूबाट किनेका थिए । तिनले यो एक सय चाँदीका टुक्रामा किने र यो योसेफका सन्तानहरूको उत्तराधिकार बन्यो ।

And the bones of Joseph, which the sons of Israel had brought from Egypt, they buried at Shechem, in a portion of the field that Jacob had purchased from the sons of Hamor, the father of Shechem, for one hundred young female sheep, and so it was in the possession of the sons of Joseph.

33 हारूनका छोरा एलाजार पनि मरे । तिनीहरूले तिनलाई गिबा अर्थात् तिनका छोरा पीनहासको सहरमा गाडे, जुन तिनलाई दिइएको थियो । यो एफ्राइमको पहाडी देशमा थियो ।

Likewise, Eleazar, the son of Aaron, died. And they buried him at Gibeah, which belongs to Phinehas, his son, and which was given to him on mount Ephraim.
