उत्पत्ति 35

1 परमेश्‍वरले याकूबलाई भन्‍नुभयो, “उठेर बेथेलमा जा, र त्यहीँ बस् । तँ तेरा दाजु एसावबाट भाग्दा तँकहाँ देखा पर्नुहुने परमेश्‍वरको निम्ति एउटा वेदी बना ।”

And God said to Jacob, Arise, go up to the place, Baethel, and dwell there; and make there an altar to the God that appeared to thee, when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother.

2 त्यसपछि याकूबले तिनको घराना र तिनीसित भएका सबैलाई भने, “तिमीहरूका बिचमा भएका विदेशी देवताहरू हटाइदेओ, र आफू-आफूलाई शुद्ध पारेर लुगाहरू फेर ।

And Jacob said to his house, and to all that were with him, Remove the strange gods that are with you from the midst of you, and purify yourselves, and change your clothes.

3 अनि हामी यहाँबाट प्रस्थान गरी माथि बेथेलमा जाऔँ । त्यहाँ म परमेश्‍वरको लागि एउटा वेदी बनाउनेछु जसले मेरो दुःखमा मलाई जवाफ दिनुभयो र म जहाँ गए पनि उहाँ मसित हुनुभएको छ ।”

And let us rise and go up to Baethel, and let us there make an alter to God who hearkened to me in the day of calamity, who was with me, and preserved me throughout in the journey, by which I went.

4 त्यसैले तिनीहरूले आ-आफ्ना हातमा भएका सबै विदेशी देवता र तिनीहरूका कानमा लगाएका कुण्डलहरू याकूबलाई दिए । याकूबले

And they gave to Jacob the strange gods, which were in their hands, and the ear-rings which were in their ears, and Jacob hid them under the turpentine tree which is in Secima, and destroyed them to this day.

5 तिनलाई शकेमको नजिकै रहेको फलाँटको रुखमुनि गाडे । तिनीहरू यात्रा गर्दै अगाडि बढ्दा परमेश्‍वरले तिनीहरूका वरिपरिका सहरहरूमा त्रास फैलाइदिनुभयो । त्यसैले ती मानिसहरूले याकूबका छोराहरूलाई लखेटेनन् ।

So Israel departed from Secima, and the fear of God was upon the cities round about them, and they did not pursue after the children of Israel.

6 याकूब तिनीसित भएका सबै मानिससित लूज अर्थात् बेथेलमा आइपुगे जुन कनान देशमा पर्छ ।

And Jacob came to Luza, which is in the land of Chanaan, which is Baethel, he and all the people that were with him.

7 त्यहाँ तिनले एउटा वेदी बनाए, र त्यसको नाउँ एल-बेथेल राखे किनकि तिनी आफ्ना दाजुबाट भाग्दा त्यहाँ परमेश्‍वरले आफैलाई तिनीकहाँ प्रकट गराउनुभएको थियो ।

And he built there an altar, and called the name of the place Baethel; for there God appeared to him, when he fled from the face of his brother Esau.

8 त्यहाँ रिबेकाकी धाई दबोरा मरी । त्यसलाई बेथेलनेरको फलाँटको रुखमुनि गाडियो । त्यसैले यसको नाउँ अल्लोन-बकुत राखियो ।

And Deborrha, Rebecca's nurse, died, and was buried below Baethel under the oak; and Jacob called its name, The Oak of Mourning.

9 याकूब पद्दन-आरामबाट आउँदा परमेश्‍वर फेरि तिनीकहाँ प्रकट हुनुभई तिनलाई आशिष् दिनुभयो ।

And God appeared to Jacob once more in Luza, when he came out of Mesopotamia of Syria, and God blessed him.

10 परमेश्‍वरले तिनलाई भन्‍नुभयो, “तेरो नाउँ याकूब हो, तर अबदेखि तेरो नाउँ याकूब भनिनेछैन । तेरो नाउँ इस्राएल हुनेछ ।” त्यसैले परमेश्‍वरले तिनको नाउँ इस्राएल राखिदिनुभयो ।

And God said to him, Thy name shall not be called Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name; and he called his name Israel.

11 परमेश्‍वरले तिनलाई भन्‍नुभयो, “म सर्वशक्तिमान् परमेश्‍वर हुँ । फल्दै-फुल्दै वृद्धि हुँदै जा । तँबाट एउटा जाति र जाति-जातिहरूको समूह उदय हुनेछ, अनि तेरा सन्तानहरूका बिचमा राजाहरू हुनेछन् ।

And God said to him, I am thy God; increase and multiply; for nations and gatherings of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins.

12 मैले अब्राहाम र इसहाकलाई दिएको देश म तँलाई दिनेछु । तँपछि उदय हुने तेरा सन्तानहरूलाई पनि म यो देश दिनेछु ।”

And the land which I gave to Abraam and Isaac, I have given it to thee; and it shall come to pass that I will give this land also to thy seed after thee.

13 तिनीसित कुराकानी गर्नुभएको ठाउँबाट परमेश्‍वर जानुभयो ।

And God went up from him from the place where he spoke with him.

14 परमेश्‍वर तिनीसित कुराकानी गर्नुभएको ठाउँमा याकूबले ढुङ्गाको एउटा वेदी खडा गरे । तिनले त्यसमाथि अर्घ-बलि चढाएर तेल खन्याए ।

And Jacob set up a pillar in the place where God spoke with him, [even] a pillar of stone; and offered a libation upon it, and poured oil upon it.

15 परमेश्‍वर तिनीसित बोल्नुभएको त्यस ठाउँलाई याकूबले बेथेल नाउँ दिए ।

And Jacob called the name of the place in which God spoke with him, Baethel.

16 तिनीहरू बेथेलबाट प्रस्थान गरे । तिनीहरू एप्रात आइपुग्‍न अलिकति दुरी बाँकी छँदा नै राहेललाई सुत्केरी व्यथा लाग्यो । उनलाई ज्यादै पीडा भएको थियो ।

[[And Jacob removed from Baethel, and pitched his tent beyond the tower of Gader, ]] and it came to pass when he drew nigh to Chabratha, to enter into Ephratha, Rachel travailed; and in her travail she was in hard labour.

17 उनी अत्यधिक पीडामा हुँदा सुँडेनीले उनलाई भनी, “भयभीत नहुनुहोस् किनकि अब तपाईंले अर्को छोरो जन्माउनुहुनेछ ।”

And it came to pass in her hard labour, that the midwife said to her, Be of good courage, for thou shalt also have this son.

18 उनको प्राण जाने बेलामा उनी चिच्‍च्याउँदै गर्दा उनले त्यसको नाउँ बेन-ओनी राखिन्, तर त्यसका पिताले त्यसलाई बेन्यामीन नाउँ दिए ।

And it came to pass in her giving up the ghost (for she was dying), that she called his name, The son of my pain; but his father called his name Benjamin.

19 राहेल मरिन् र एप्राता (अर्थात् बेथलेहेम) जाने बाटोमा उनलाई गाडियो ।

So Rachel died, and was buried in the way of the course of Ephratha, this is Bethleem.

20 याकूबले उनको चिहानमा एउटा खामो खडा गरे । आजको दिनसम्म यो राहेलको चिहानको चिन्हको रूपमा खडा छ ।

And Jacob set up a pillar on her tomb; this is the pillar on the tomb of Rachel, until this day.

21 इस्राएल अगि बढे र तिनले बगालको धरहराभन्दा पर आफ्नो पाल टाँगे ।

And it came to pass when Israel dwelt in that land, that Ruben went and lay with Balla, the concubine of his father Jacob; and Israel heard, and the thing appeared grievous before him.

22 इस्राएल त्यस देशमा बसिरहँदा रूबेन आफ्ना पिताकी भित्रिनी बिल्हासित सुते, र इस्राएलले यस विषयमा सुने । याकूबका बार्‍ह जना छोरा थिए ।

And the sons of Jacob were twelve.

23 याकूबले लेआबाट जन्माएका छोराहरू यिनै थिएः जेठो रूबेन, त्यसपछि शिमियोन, लेवी, यहूदा, इस्साखार र जबूलून ।

The sons of Lea, the first-born of Jacob; Ruben, Symeon, Levi, Judas, Issachar, Zabulon.

24 राहेलतर्फका छोराहरू यिनै थिएः योसेफ र बेन्यामीन ।

And the sons of Rachel; Joseph and Benjamin.

25 राहेलकी कमारी बिल्हातर्फका छोराहरू यिनै थिएः दान र नप्‍ताली ।

And the sons of Balla, the hand-maid of Rachel; Dan and Nephthalim.

26 लेआकी कमारी जिल्पातर्फका छोराहरू यिनै थिएः गाद र आशेर । यी सबै याकूबले पद्दन-आराममा जन्माएका छोराहरू थिए ।

And the sons of Zelpha, the hand-maid of Lea; Gad and Aser. These [are] the sons of Jacob, which were born to him in Mesopotamia of Syria.

27 याकूब किर्यत-अर्बा (जुन हेब्रोन हो) मा आफ्ना पिता इसहाककहाँ आए जहाँ अब्राहाम र इसहाक बसोबास गरेका थिए ।

And Jacob came to Isaac his father to Mambre, to a city of the plain; this is Chebron in the land of Chanaan, where Abraam and Isaac sojourned.

28 इसहाक एक सय असी वर्षसम्म बाँचे ।

And the days of Isaac which he lived were an hundred and eighty years.

29 इसहाकले आफ्नो अन्तिम सास फेरे र तिनको मृत्यु भयो अनि तिनी आफ्ना पुर्खाहरूसित मिल्न गए । तिनी पुरा बुढेसकालसम्म बाँचेका थिए । तिनका छोराहरू एसाव र याकूबले तिनलाई गाडे ।

And Isaac gave up the ghost and died, and was laid to his family, old and full of days; and Esau and Jacob his sons buried him.
