उत्पत्ति 28
1 इसहाकले याकूबलाई बोलाएर आशीर्वाद दिए, र यसो भनेर आज्ञा गरे, “तैँले कनानी स्त्रीहरूबाट आफ्नो निम्ति पत्नी नलिनू ।
And Isaac calls to Jacob, and blesses him, and commands him, and says to him, “You must not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan;
2 पद्दन-आराममा तेरी आमाका बुबा बतूएलको घरमा गएर त्यहीँबाट तेरा मामा लाबानका छोरीहरूमध्ये एउटीलाई विवाह गर् ।
rise, go to Padan-Aram, to the house of your mother’s father Bethuel, and take for yourself a wife from there, from the daughters of your mother’s brother Laban;
3 सर्वशक्तिमान् परमेश्वरले तँलाई आशिष् देऊन्; तँलाई फल्दो-फुल्दो गराएर तेरो वृद्धि गराऊन्, ताकि तँ मानिसहरूको एक समूह बन्न सक्नेछस् ।
and God Almighty bless you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, and you have become an assembly of peoples;
4 उहाँले तँलाई र तँ पछिका तेरा सन्तानहरूलाई अब्राहामले पाएको आशिष् देऊन्, ताकि परमेश्वरले अब्राहामलाई दिनुभएको तँ बसेको देशमा तेरै अधिकार होस् ।”
and He gives to you the blessing of Abraham, to you and to your seed with you, to cause you to possess the land of your sojournings, which God gave to Abraham.”
5 यसरी इसहाकले याकूबलाई पठाए । तिनी पद्दन-आराममा एसाव र याकूबकी आमा रिबेकाका दाजु अरामी बतूएलका छोरा लाबानकहाँ गए ।
And Isaac sends Jacob away, and he goes to Padan-Aram, to Laban, son of Bethuel the Aramean, brother of Rebekah, mother of Jacob and Esau.
6 अब इसहाकले याकूबलाई आशीर्वाद दिएर पत्नी ल्याउन त्यहाँबाट पद्दन-आराममा पठाएको देखे । याकूबले तिनलाई आशीर्वाद दिएर यस्तो आज्ञा दिएको पनि उनले देखे “तैँले कनानी स्त्रीहरूबाट आफ्नो निम्ति पत्नी नलिनू ।”
And Esau sees that Isaac has blessed Jacob, and has sent him to Padan-Aram to take to himself from there a wife—in his blessing him that he lays a charge on him, saying, You must not take a wife from the daughters of Canaan—
7 याकूबले आफ्ना बाबुआमाको आज्ञा मानेर पद्दन-आरामतर्फ गएको पनि एसावले देखे ।
that Jacob listens to his father and to his mother, and goes to Padan-Aram—
8 कनानी स्त्रीहरू आफ्ना बुबालाई मनपर्दैन रहेछ भन्ने एसावले थाहा पाए ।
and Esau sees that the daughters of Canaan are evil in the eyes of his father Isaac,
9 तब एसाव इश्माएलकहाँ गए, र उनका आफ्ना पत्नीहरूबाहेक अब्राहामका छोरा इश्माएलकी छोरी र नबायोतकी बहिनी महलतलाई आफ्नी पत्नीको रूपमा ल्याए ।
and Esau goes to Ishmael, and takes Mahalath, daughter of Ishmael, Abraham’s son, sister of Nebajoth, to his wives, to himself, for a wife.
10 याकूब बेर्शेबा छोडेर हारानतिर लागे ।
And Jacob goes out from Beer-Sheba, and goes toward Haran,
11 कुनै एउटा ठाउँमा पुगेपछि सूर्य अस्ताएको हुनाले तिनी त्यस रात त्यहीँ बास बसे । त्यस ठाउँमा भएका ढुङ्गाहरूमध्येबाट एउटा लिएर आफ्नो सिरान बनाई त्यही ठाउँमा सुत्नलाई पल्टे ।
and he touches at a [certain] place, and lodges there, for the sun has gone in, and he takes of the stones of the place, and makes [them] his pillows, and lies down in that place.
12 तिनले पृथ्वीमा खडा गरिएको एउटा भर्याङको सपना देखे । त्यसको टुप्पाचाहिँ आकाशसम्मै पुगेको रहेछ र परमेश्वरका दूतहरू त्यसमा उक्लने र ओर्लने गर्दा रहेछन् ।
And he dreams, and behold, a ladder set up on the earth, and its head is touching the heavens; and behold, messengers of God are going up and coming down by it;
13 परमप्रभुले त्यसमाथि उभिएर याकूबलाई भन्नुभयो, “म परमप्रभु, तेरा पिता अब्राहामका परमेश्वर र इसहाकका परमेश्वर हुँ । जुन भूमिमा तँ ढल्किरहेको छस् त्यो म तँलाई र तेरा सन्तानहरूलाई दिनेछु ।
and behold, YHWH is standing on it, and He says, “I [am] YHWH, God of your father Abraham, and God of Isaac; the land on which you are lying, to you I give it, and to your seed;
14 तेरा सन्तान पृथ्वीको धुलोसरह हुनेछन् । तँ पश्चिम, पूर्व, उत्तर र दक्षिणतिर फैलिएर जानेछस् । तँ र तेरा सन्तानहरूद्वारा नै पृथ्वीका सबै मानिसहरू आशिषित्् हुनेछन् ।
and your seed has been as the dust of the land, and you have broken forth westward, and eastward, and northward, and southward, and all families of the ground have been blessed in you and in your seed.
15 हेर्, म तँसँग छु र तँ जहाँसुकै गए तापनि म तेरो रक्षा गर्नेछु । म फेरि तँलाई यस ठाउँमा फर्काएर ल्याउनेछु । किनकि मैले तँलाई प्रतिज्ञा गरेका कुरा पुरा नगरुञ्जेल म तँलाई छोड्नेछैनँ ।”
And behold, I [am] with you, and have kept you wherever you go, and have caused you to return to this ground; for I do not leave you until I have surely done that which I have spoken to you.”
16 तब याकूबले निद्राबाट ब्युँझेर भने, “निश्चय नै परमप्रभु यस ठाउँमा हुनुहुँदोरहेछ, र मलाई यो थाहा थिएन ।”
And Jacob awakens out of his sleep and says, “Surely YHWH is in this place, and I did not know”;
17 तिनले डराएर भने, “यो ठाउँ कस्तो भययोग्य रहेछ । यो त परमेश्वरको घरबाहेक अरू केही होइन । यो त स्वर्गको ढोका हो ।”
and he fears and says, “How fearful [is] this place; this is nothing but a house of God, and this a gate of the heavens.”
18 याकूब बिहान सबेरै उठे, र आफूले सिरान बनाएको ढुङ्गा लिए । त्यसलाई खामोजस्तै गरी खडा गरेर त्यसको टुप्पामा तेल खन्याए ।
And Jacob rises early in the morning, and takes the stone which he has made his pillows, and makes it a standing pillar, and pours oil on its top,
19 तिनले त्यस ठाउँको नाउँ बेथेल राखे । पहिले त्यस ठाउँको नाउँ लूज थियो ।
and he calls the name of that place Bethel, [house of God, ] and yet, Luz [is] the name of the city at the first.
20 तब याकूबले यसो भनेर भाकल गरे, “यदि परमेश्वर मेरो साथमा रहनुभयो, मेरो यात्रामा मलाई रक्षा गर्नुभयो, मलाई खानलाई रोटी र लाउनलाई वस्त्र दिनुभयो
And Jacob vows a vow, saying, “Seeing God is with me, and has kept me in this way which I am going, and has given to me bread to eat, and a garment to put on—
21 भने म कुशलपूर्वक फेरि मेरा बुबाको घरमा फर्कन्छु, अनि परमप्रभु नै मेरा परमेश्वर हुनुहुनेछ ।
when I have turned back in peace to the house of my father, and YHWH has become my God,
22 त्यसपछि मैले खामो बनाएको यो ढुङ्गाचाहिँ पवित्र ढुङ्गा हुनेछ । तपाईंले मलाई दिनुभए जति सबै थोकको दशांश म तपाईंलाई अवश्य चढाउनेछु ।”
then this stone which I have made a standing pillar is a house of God, and all that You give to me—tithing I tithe to You.”
