इजकिएल 18
1 फेरि परमप्रभुको वचन यसो भनेर मकहाँ आयो,
And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,
2 “इस्राएलका देशको बारेमा तैंले उखान भनेको अर्थ के होः “'बाबुहरू अमिलो अङ्गूर खाने र छोराछोरीका दाँत कुडिंने'?
What mean ye, ye who use this proverb of the land of Israel, saying, [The] fathers eat sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge?
3 जस्तो म जीवित छु— यो परमप्रभु परमेश्वरको घोषणा हो—इस्राएलमा तिमीहरूलाई फेरि कहिल्यै यो उखान भन्ने अवसर हुनेछैन ।
[As] I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, ye shall not have any more to use this proverb in Israel.
4 हेर, हरेक जीवित प्राण मेरै हो— बुबा र छोरा दुवै मेरा हुन् । जुन प्राणले पाप गर्छ, त्यही मर्नेछ ।
Behold, all the souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
5 एक जना धर्मी र न्याय तथा धर्मिकता कायम राख्ने मानिसको बारेमा के भण्न सकिन्छ—
And if a man be righteous, and do judgment and justice:
6 उसले डाँडाहरूमा खाँदैन, वा इस्राएलका घरानाका मूर्तिहरूतिर हेर्दैन, र उसले आफ्नो छिमेकीकी पत्नीलाई अपवित्र पार्दैन, न त महिनावारीको समयमा कुनै स्त्रीकहाँ जान्छ । के ऊ धर्मी मानिस हो?
— he hath not eaten upon the mountains, nor lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, neither hath defiled his neighbour's wife, nor come near to a woman in her separation,
7 यस्तो मानिसको बारेमा के भन्न सकिन्छ, जसले कसैलाई थिचोमिचो गर्दैन, र लोन लिनेले धितो राखेको सामान लोन लिनेलाई उसले फर्काउँछ, र उसले चोरी गर्दैन, तर भोकालाई आफ्नो खानेकुरा दिन्छ, र नाङ्गालाई लुगा पहिराउँछ । के ऊ धर्मी मानिस हो?
and hath not oppressed any; he hath restored to the debtor his pledge, hath not exercised robbery, hath given his bread to the hungry, and covered the naked with a garment;
8 यस्तो मानिसको बारेमा के भन्ने, जसले आफूले दिएको लोनको ब्याज धेरै लिंदैन, र आफूले बेचेको कुरामा धेरै नाफा लिंदैन? उसको बारेमा यसो भनिन्छ, उसले न्याय गर्छ र मानिसहरूका बिचमा विश्वस्तता कायम गर्छ ।
he hath not given forth upon usury, nor taken increase; he hath withdrawn his hand from unrighteousness, hath executed true judgment between man and man,
9 एक जना मानिस मेरा विधिहरू पालन गर्छ, र विश्वाससित मेरा नियमहरू मान्छ भने त्यो धर्मी मानिसको निम्ति प्रतिज्ञा यो होः त्यो निश्चय नै बाँच्नेछ— यो परमप्रभु परमेश्वरको घोषणा हो ।
hath walked in my statutes, and kept mine ordinances, to deal faithfully: he is righteous, he shall certainly live, saith the Lord Jehovah.
10 तर मानौं, उसको एक जना हिंस्रक छोरो छ, जसले हत्या गर्छ र यी माथि उल्लेखित कुनै पनि काम गर्छ,
And if he have begotten a son that is violent, a shedder of blood, and that doeth only one of any of these [things],
11 (उसका बुबाले यी कुरामध्ये एउटै पनि नगरेको भए पनि) । उसले डाँडाहरूमा खान्छ, र आफ्नो छिमेकीकी पत्नीलाई बिटुलो पार्छ । उसको बारेमा के भन्न सकिन्छ र?
and that doeth not any of those [duties], but also hath eaten upon the mountains, and defiled his neighbour's wife,
12 यो मानिसले गरीब र दरिद्रमाथि थिचोमिचो गर्छ, र उसले लुट्छ र डकैती गर्छ र धितो फर्काउँदैन, अनि उसले आफ्ना आँखा मूर्तिहरूतिर उचाल्छ, र घिनलाग्दा कामहरू गर्छ,
hath oppressed the poor and needy, exercised robbery, hath not restored the pledge, and hath lifted up his eyes to the idols, committed abomination,
13 र उसले महंगो ब्याजमा रुपियाँ दिन्छ र आफूले बेचेको कुरामा धेरै मुनाफा कमाउँछ । के यस्तो मानिस जीवित रहनुपर्छ? ऊ निश्चय पनि जीवित रहँदैन । ऊ निश्चय मर्नेछ र उसको रगत उसकै शिरमाथि पर्नेछ किनभने उसले यी सबै घिनलाग्दा कुराहरू गरेको छ ।
given forth upon usury, and taken increase; shall he then live? He shall not live: he hath done all these abominations; he shall certainly die; his blood shall be upon him.
14 तर हेर, मानौं एक जना मानिस छ र उसको एक जना छोरो छ, जसले आफ्ना बुबाले गरेका सबै पापहरू देख्छ, अनि उसले ती देखे तापनि उसले ती कुराहरू गर्दैन ।
But lo, if he have begotten a son that seeth all his father's sins which he hath done, and considereth, and doeth not such like:
15 त्यो छोरोले डाँडाका थानहरूमा खाँदैन, र उसले इस्राएलका घरानाका मूर्तिहरूतिर आफ्ना आँखा लगाउँदैन, र उसले आफ्नो छिमेकीकी पत्नीलाई बिटुलो पार्दैन । उसको बारेमा के भन्न सकिन्छ?
— he hath not eaten upon the mountains, nor lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel; he hath not defiled his neighbour's wife,
16 त्यो छोरोले कसैलाई थिचोमिचो गर्दैन, वा बन्धक खोस्दैन वा चोरीका सामानहरू लिंदैन, तर त्यसको साटोमा आफ्नो खानेकुरा भोकालाई दिन्छ, र नाङ्गालाई लुगाले ढाक्छ ।
and hath not oppressed any, nor withholden the pledge, neither hath exercised robbery; he hath given his bread to the hungry, and covered the naked with a garment;
17 त्यो छोरोले कसैलाई थिचोमिचो गर्दैन वा महंगो ब्याज लिंदैन वा लोनबाट धेरै मुनाफा कमाउँदैन, तर उसले मेरा नियमहरू मान्छ, र मेरा विधिहरूअनुसार हिंड्छ । त्यो छोरो आफ्नो बुबाका पापको कारण मर्नेछैनः ऊ निश्चय नै बाँच्नेछ ।
he hath withdrawn his hand from the poor, hath not received usury nor increase, hath executed my judgments, [and] walked in my statutes: he shall not die for the iniquity of his father, he shall certainly live.
18 उसको बुबाले अरूबाट जबरदस्ती लिएर थिचोमिचो गरेको र आफ्नो भाइको डकैती गरेको, र आफ्ना मानिसहरूका माझमा जे असल छैन त्यही गरेको कारणले, हेर, ऊ आफ्नो अधर्ममा मर्नेछ ।
As for his father, because he practised oppression, exercised robbery upon his brother, and did what was not good among his people, behold, he shall die in his iniquity.
19 तर तिमीहरू भन्छौ, 'छोरोले आफ्नो बुबाको अधर्मको फल भोग्नु किन नपर्ने?' किनकि छोराले न्याय र धार्मिकता पुरा गर्छ र मेरा सबै विधिहरू पालन गर्छ । उसले ती पुरा गर्छ । ऊ निश्चय नै बाँच्नेछ ।
And ye say, Why doth not the son bear the iniquity of the father? But the son hath done judgment and justice, hath kept all my statutes, and hath done them; he shall certainly live.
20 जसले पाप गर्छ, मर्नेचाहिं उही हो । छोरोले आफ्नो बुबाको अधर्मको फल भोग्नेछैन, र बुबाले आफ्नो छोराको अधर्मको फल भोग्नेछैन । ठिक काम गर्नेको धार्मिकता उसमाथि नै रहनेछ र दुष्टको दुष्ट्याइँ पनि उसमाथि नै रहनेछ ।
The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son; the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
21 तर कुनै दुष्ट मानिसले आफूले गरेका सबै पापहरू त्याग्छ र मेरा सबै विधिहरू पालन गर्छ, र न्याय र धार्मिकता कायम गर्छ भने, ऊ निश्चय नै बाँच्नेछ, र मर्नेछैन ।
And the wicked, if he turn from all his sins which he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do judgment and justice, he shall certainly live, he shall not die.
22 उसको विरुद्धमा उसले गरेको सारा अपराधको सम्झना फेरि गरिनेछैन । उसले अभ्यास गरेको धर्मिकताको कारणले ऊ बाँच्नेछ ।
None of his transgressions which he hath committed shall be remembered against him; in his righteousness which he hath done shall he live.
23 के दुष्टको मृत्युमा म खुशी हुन्छु र—यो परमप्रभु परमेश्वरको घोषणा हो—र ऊ बाँचोस् भनी ऊ आफ्नो चाल छोडेर फर्केकोमा खुसी हुन्न र?
Have I any pleasure at all in the death of the wicked? saith the Lord Jehovah; is it not in his turning from his way, that he may live?
24 तर धर्मी मानिसले आफ्नो धार्मिकतालाई त्यागेर पाप गर्छ, र दुष्ट मानिसले गरेका घिनलाग्दा कामहरू गर्छ भने, के त्यो बाँच्नेछ र? उसले विद्रोह गरेर मलाई धोका दिएको कारणले उसले अघि गरेको कुनै पनि धर्मिकताको कामको सम्झना हुनेछैन । यसैले उसले गरेका पापहरूमा नै ऊ मर्नेछ ।
And when the righteous turneth from his righteousness and practiseth what is wrong, [and] doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked doeth, shall he live? None of his righteous acts which he hath done shall be remembered: in his unfaithfulness which he hath wrought, and in his sin which he hath sinned, in them shall he die.
25 तर तिमीहरू भन्छौ, 'परमप्रभुको चाल न्यायपुर्ण छैन' । ए इस्राएलका घराना, सुन । के मेरो चालहरू न्यायपुर्ण छैनन्? अन्यायपुर्ण त तिमीहरूका चालहरू होइनन् र?
And ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. Hear then, house of Israel. Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal?
26 जब धर्मी मानिसले आफ्नो धार्मिकता त्याग्छ र अधर्म गर्छ, र तिनका कारणले मर्छ, तब ऊ आफैले गरको अधर्मको कारणले ऊ मर्छ ।
When the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and practiseth what is wrong, and dieth for it; in his wrong that he hath done shall he die.
27 तर जब दुष्ट मानिसले आफूले गरेका दुष्ट कामबाट फर्कन्छ, र न्याय र धार्मिकता कायम गर्छ, तब उसले आफ्नो जीवन बचाउनेछ ।
And when the wicked turneth from his wickedness which he hath committed, and doeth judgment and justice, he shall keep his soul alive.
28 किनकि आफूले गरेका सबै अपराधहरू उसले देखेको छ र तीबाट फर्केको छ । ऊ निश्चय नै बाँच्नेछ, र ऊ मर्नेछैन ।
Because he considereth, and turneth from all his transgressions which he hath committed, he shall certainly live, he shall not die.
29 तर इस्राएलको घरानाले भन्छ, 'परमप्रभुको चाल न्यायपुर्ण छैन' । ए इस्राएलको घराना, मेरो चाल कसरी न्यायपुर्ण छैन? तिमीहरूको चालचाहिं न्यायपुर्ण छैन ।
But the house of Israel say, The way of the Lord is not equal. O house of Israel, are not my ways equal? Is it not your ways that are unequal?
30 यसकारण, ए इस्राएलका घराना, म तिमीहरू हरेक मानिसको न्याय उसको चालअनुसार गर्नेछु— यो परमप्रभु परमेश्वरको घोषणा हो । पश्चात्ताप गर, आफ्ना सबै अपराधहरूबाट फर्क, ताकि तिमीहरूको पाप तिमीहरूको विरुद्ध ठेस लाग्ने ढुङ्गाहरू नबनून् ।
Therefore I will judge you, house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord Jehovah. Return ye, and turn from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your snare.
31 तिमीहरूले गरेका सबै अपराधहरू आफूलाई अलग गर । आफ्ना निम्ति नयाँ हृदय र नयाँ आत्मा बनाओ । तिमीहरू किन मर्छौ, ए इस्राएलका घराना?
Cast away from you all your transgressions wherewith ye have transgressed, and make you a new heart and a new spirit: why then will ye die, house of Israel?
32 किनकि मर्नेको मृत्युमा म खुसी हुन्न—यो परमप्रभु परमेश्वरको घोषणा हो—यसैले पश्चात्ताप गर, र बाँच ।
For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord Jehovah; therefore turn ye and live.
