प्रस्थान 22
1 कुनै मानिसले गोरु वा भेडा चोरेर त्यसलाई मार्यो वा बेच्यो भने त्यसले एउटा गोरुको सट्टा पाँचवटा गोरु र एउटा भेडाको सट्टा चारवटा भेडा देओस् ।
And if one steal an ox or a sheep, and kill it or sell it, he shall pay five calves for a calf, and four sheep for a sheep.
2 घर फोर्दै गर्दा चोरलाई भेट्टाइयो र त्यसलाई प्रहार गर्दा त्यो मर्यो भने त्यसलाई हिर्काउने हत्याको दोषी हुनेछैन ।
And if the thief be found in the breach [made by himself] and be struck and die, there shall not be blood shed for him.
3 तर त्यसले घर फोर्नुअगि घाम झुल्किसकेको रहेछ भने त्यसलाई मार्ने व्यक्तिलाई हत्याको दोष लाग्नेछ । चोरले नोक्सानी भरिदिनुपर्छ । त्योसँग केही छैन भने त्यसको चोरीको लागि त्यसलाई बेचिनुपर्छ ।
But if the sun be risen upon him, he is guilty, he shall die instead; and if a thief have nothing, let him be sold in compensation for what he has stolen.
4 चोरिएको पशु अर्थात् चाहे त्यो गोरु होस् वा गधा होस् वा भेडा होस्, त्योसँगै जिउँदै पाइयो भने त्यसले दुई गुणा फिर्ता दिनुपर्छ ।
And if the thing stolen be left and be in his hand alive, whether ox or sheep, he shall restore them two-fold.
5 कुनै मानिसले खेत वा दाखबारीमा आफ्ना गाईवस्तु चराउँदा त्यसले बाँधेन र पशु अर्को मानिसको खेतमा चर्न पुग्यो भने त्यसले आफ्नो सबैभन्दा असल खेत वा दाखबारीबाट नोक्सानी तिर्नुपर्छ ।
And if any one should feed down a field or a vineyard, and should send in his beast to feed down another field, he shall make compensation of his own field according to his produce; and if he shall have fed down the whole field, he shall pay for compensation the best of his own field and the best of his vineyard.
6 आगलागी भई काँडामा फैलन पुगी त्यसले अन्नको बिटा वा मकैको बिटा वा खेतलाई भस्म पार्यो भने आगो लगाउनेले क्षतिपूर्ति तिरिदिनुपर्छ ।
And if fire have gone forth and caught thorns, and should also set on fire threshing-floors or ears of corn or a field, he that kindled the fire shall make compensation.
7 कुनै मानिसले आफ्नो छिमेकीलाई सुरक्षाको खातिर रुपियाँ-पैसा वा सामान राख्न दिँदा त्यस मानिसको घरबाट त्यो चोरी भयो र चोर फेला पारियो भने चोरले दुई गुणा तिर्नुपर्छ ।
And if any one give to his neighbor money or goods to keep, and they be stolen out of the man's house, if the thief be found he shall repay double.
8 तर चोरलाई फेला पारिएन भने घरको मालिकको छिमेकीको सम्पत्तिमाथि उसकै हात छ या छैन भनी जाँच गर्न त्यो न्यायकर्ताहरूको सामु आउनुपर्छ ।
But if the thief be not found, the master of the house shall come forward before God, and shall swear that surely he has not wrought wickedly in regard of any part of his neighbor's deposit,
9 कुनै पनि विवादको बारेमा अथवा गोरु, गधा, भेडा, लुगाफाटा वा कुनै पनि हराएको वस्तुको विषयमा कसैले “यो मेरो हो” भन्यो भने दुवै पक्षका दाबीलाई न्यायकर्ताहरूको सामु ल्याइनुपर्छ । न्याकर्ताहरूले जसलाई दोषी पाउँछन् त्यसले आफ्नो छिमेकीलाई दुई गुणा तिरोस् ।
according to every injury alleged, both concerning a calf, and an ass, and a sheep, and a garment, and every alleged loss, whatever in fact it may be, —the judgment of both shall proceed before God, and he that is convicted by God shall repay to his neighbor double.
10 कुनै मानिसले आफ्नो छिमेकीलाई गधा, गोरु, भेडा वा कुनै पशु राख्नलाई दिँदा त्यो मर्यो वा त्यसलाई चोट लाग्यो वा कसैले नदेखीकन त्यसलाई भगाइयो भने
And if any one give to his neighbor to keep a calf or sheep or any beast, and it be wounded or die or be taken, and no one know,
11 आफ्नो छिमेकीको सम्पत्तिमा आफ्नो हात छैन भनी दुवै जनाले परमप्रभुको सामु शपथ खानुपर्छ । सम्पत्तिको मालिकले यसलाई स्वीकार गर्नैपर्छ र अर्कोले क्षतिपूर्ति तिर्नुपर्दैन ।
an oath of God shall be between both, [each swearing] that he has surely not at all been guilty in the matter of his neighbor's deposit; and so his master shall hold him guiltless, and he shall not make compensation.
12 तर त्यसबाट यो चोरी भएको हो भने त्यसले यसको लागि मालिकलाई क्षतिपूर्ति तिर्नुपर्छ ।
And if it be stolen from him, he shall make compensation to the owner.
13 पशुलाई टुक्राटुक्रा पारिएको छ भने अर्को मानिसले साक्षीको रूपमा त्यो पशु ल्याओस् । टुक्राटुक्रा पारिएको कारण त्यसले क्षतिपूर्ति दिनुपर्दैन ।
And if it be seized of beasts, he shall bring him to [witness] the prey, and he shall not make compensation.
14 कुनै मानिसले आफ्नो छिमेकीबाट पशु पैँचो लिँदा मालिकको उपस्थितिविना त्यसलाई चोट लाग्यो वा त्यो मर्यो भने अर्को मानिसले क्षतिपूर्ति दिनैपर्छ ।
And if any one borrow [ought] of his neighbor, and it be wounded or die or be carried away, and the owner of it be not with it, he shall make compensation.
15 तर मालिक पनि उपस्थित थियो भने अर्को मानिसले तिर्नुपर्दैन । पशुलाई भाडामा लिइएको थियो भने ज्यालाको लागि लाग्ने रकमले क्षतिपूर्ति तिरिनेछ ।
But if the owner be with it, he shall not make compensation: but if it be a hired thing, there shall be [a compensation] to him instead of his hire.
16 कुनै पुरुषले मगनी नभएकी कन्या केटीलाई फकाएर त्यससित सुत्यो भने त्यसले दुलहीको रकम दिएर त्यसलाई आफ्नी पत्नी बनाउनुपर्छ ।
And if any one deceive a virgin that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall surely endow her for a wife to himself.
17 केटीको बुबाले केटी त्यसलाई दिन पूर्ण रूपमा अस्वीकार गर्यो भने त्यसले कन्या केटीहरूको दुलहीको सम्पत्ति बराबरको रकम तिर्नुपर्छ ।
And if her father positively refuse, and will not consent to give her to him for a wife, he shall pay compensation to her father according to the amount of the dowry of virgins.
18 तिमीहरूले टुनामुना गर्नेलाई जीवित नराख्नू ।
You shall not save the lives of sorcerers.
19 पशुसित सुत्ने जोसुकै पनि मारिनैपर्छ ।
Every one that lies with a beast you shall surely put to death.
20 परमप्रभुबाहेक अन्य कुनै देवी-देवतालाई बलिदान चढाउनेलाई पूर्ण रूपमा नष्ट गरिनुपर्छ ।
He that sacrifices to any gods but to the Lord alone, shall be destroyed by death.
21 तिमीहरूले परदेशीको बिगार गर्नुहुँदैन वा त्यसलाई थिचोमिचो गर्नुहुँदैन किनकि तिमीहरू पनि मिश्र देशमा परदेशीहरू थियौ ।
And you shall not hurt a stranger, nor afflict him; for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.
22 विधवा वा अनाथलाई दुर्व्यवहार नगर्नू ।
You shall hurt no widow or orphan.
23 तिनीहरूलाई सतायौ र तिनीहरूले मेरो पुकारा गरे भने म निश्चय नै तिनीहरूको पुकारा सुन्नेछु ।
And if you should afflict them by ill-treatment, and they should cry aloud to me, I will surely hear their voice.
24 मेरो क्रोध दन्कनेछ र म तिमीहरूलाई तरवारले मार्नेछु । तिमीहरूका पत्नीहरू विधवा बन्नेछन्, र तिमीहरूका छोराछोरीहरू अनाथ बन्नेछन् ।
And I will be very angry, and will kill you with the sword, and your wives shall be widows and your children orphans.
25 मेरा मानिसहरूका बिचमा भएका गरिबहरूलाई तिमीहरूले ऋण दियौ भने तिमीहरू उसको लागि साहुकारजस्ता नहोओ वा त्यसबाट ब्याज असुल नगर ।
And if you should lend money to your poor brother who is by you, you shall not be hard upon him you shall not exact usury of him.
26 तिमीहरूले छिमेकीको खास्टो बन्धकी राख्यौ भने सूर्यास्तअगि नै तिमीहरूले त्यो फिर्ता गरिदिनुपर्छ ।
And if you take your neighbor's garment for a pledge, you shall restore it to him before sunset.
27 किनकि त्यसको ओढ्ने त्यही मात्र हो । यो त्यसको शरीरको लागि त्यसको खास्टो हो । योबाहेक त्यो केमा सुत्न सक्छ र? त्यसले मेरो पुकारा गर्दा म सुन्नेछु किनकि म दयालु छु ।
For this is his clothing, this is the only covering of his nakedness; wherein shall he sleep? If then he shall cry to me, I will listen to him, for I am merciful.
28 परमेश्वरको विरुद्धमा ईश्वर-निन्दा नगर न त तिमीहरूका मानिसहरूको शासकलाई सराप ।
You shall not revile the gods, nor speak ill of the ruler of your people.
29 तिमीहरूको कटनी वा दाखबारीबाट भेटी चढाउन विलम्ब नगर । तिमीहरूका छोराहरूका जेठोचाहिँ मलाई दिनुपर्छ ।
You shall not keep back the first fruits of your threshing floor and press. The firstborn of your sons you shall give to me.
30 त्यस्तै गरी तिमीहरूका गोरु र भेडाहरूलाई पनि यसै गर । सात दिनसिम्म तिनीहरू आ-आफ्ना माउसित बस्न सक्छन् तर आठौँ दिनमा चाहिँ तिमीहरूले ती मलाई देओ ।
So shall you do with your calf and your sheep and your ass; seven days shall it be under the mother, and the eighth day you shall give it to me.
31 तिमीहरू मेरा लागि अलग गरिएका जाति हौ । त्यसैले खेतमा पशुद्वारा फहराएको मासु तिमीहरूले नखानू । बरु, त्यो कुकुरहरूलाई फालिदिनू ।
And you shall be holy men to me; and you shall not eat flesh taken of beasts, you shall cast it to the dog.
