उपदेशक 5
1 परमेश्वरको भवनमा जाँदा आफ्ना कदमहरूको रखवाली गर् । मूर्खहरूको बलिदान चढाउनुभन्दा सुन्नलाई नजिक जा, किनकि के गल्ती गर्दै छन् भनी तिनीहरू बुझ्दैनन् ।
Thou that entrist in to the hous of God, kepe thi foot, and neiye thou for to here; for whi myche betere is obedience than the sacrifices of foolis, that witen not what yuel thei don.
2 बोल्नमा हतार नगर्, र परमेश्वरको सामु आफ्नो विषय लैजान तेरो हृदयमा आतुरी नगर् । परमेश्वर स्वर्गमा हुनुहुन्छ, तर तँ पृथ्वीमा छस् । त्यसैले तेरा वचनहरू थोरै होऊन् ।
Speke thou not ony thing folily, nether thin herte be swift to brynge forth a word bifore God; for God is in heuene, and thou art on erthe, therfor thi wordis be fewe.
3 तैँले गर्नुपर्ने र चिन्ता लिनुपर्ने धेरै कुराहरू छन् भने तैँले सम्भवतः खराब सपना देख्ने छस् । तैँले जति धेरै बोल्छस्, सम्भवतः त्यति नै धेरै मूर्ख कुराहरू ओकल्छस् ।
Dremes suen many bisynessis, and foli schal be foundun in many wordis.
4 तैँले परमेश्वरमा भाकल गर्दा त्यसलाई पुरा गर्न ढिलो नगर्, किनकि परमेश्वर मूर्खहरूसित रमाउनुहुन्न । तैँले जे गर्छु भनेर भाकल गरेको छस्, त्यो गरिहाल् ।
If thou hast avowid ony thing to God, tarie thou not to yelde; for an vnfeithful and fonned biheest displesith hym; but `yelde thou what euer thing thou hast avowid;
5 भाकल गरेर पुरा नगर्नु भन्दा भाकलै नगरेको उत्तम हुन्छ ।
and it is myche betere to make not a vowe, than aftir a vowe to yelde not biheestis.
6 तेरो शरीरलाई पाप गर्न तेरो मुखलाई अनुमति नदे । पुजारीको सन्देशवाहकलाई यसो नभन्, “त्यो भाकल भुल थियो ।” झुटो पाराले भाकल गरी परमेश्वरलाई किन रिस उठाउने? तेरा हातको कामलाई नष्ट पार्न परमेश्वरलाई किन चिढ्याउने?
Yyue thou not thi mouth, that thou make thi fleisch to do synne; nether seie thou bifor an aungel, No puruyaunce is; lest perauenture the Lord be wrooth on thi wordis, and distruye alle the werkis of thin hondis.
7 किनकि धेरै शब्दहरूमा जस्तै धेरै कल्पनामा अर्थहीन बाफ हुन्छ । त्यसैले परमेश्वरको भय मान् ।
Where ben many dremes, ben ful many vanytees, and wordis with out noumbre; but drede thou God.
8 जब तैँले तेरो प्रान्तमा गरिबहरूलाई थिचोमिचो गरिएको र तिनीहरूबाट न्याय र असल व्यवहार खोसिएको देख्छस्, तब कसैलाई थाहै नभएजस्तै गरी चकित नहो, किनकि तिनीहरूको रेखदेख गर्ने मानिसहरू शक्तिमा छन्, र तिनीहरूभन्दा अझै उच्च पदमा रहेर तिनीहरूको रेखदेख गर्ने मानिसहरू पनि हुन्छन् ।
If thou seest false chalengis of nedi men, and violent domes, and that riytfulnesse is distried in the prouynce, wondre thou not on this doyng; for another is hiyere than an hiy man, and also othere men ben more hiye aboue these men;
9 यस बाहेक, खेतबारीको उब्जनी हरेकको लागि हो, र राजा स्वयम्ले पनि खेतबारीबाट उब्जनी बटुल्छन् ।
and ferthermore the kyng of al erthe comaundith to the seruaunt.
10 चाँदीलाई प्रेम गर्ने चाँदीबाट सन्तुष्ट हुने छैन, र धन-सम्पत्तिलाई प्रेम गर्नेले सधैँ यसको बढी चाह गर्छ । यो पनि बाफ हो ।
An auerouse man schal not be fillid of monei; and he that loueth richessis schal not take fruytis of tho; and therfor this is vanyte.
11 जब समृद्धि बढ्छ, तब यसलाई खाने मुख पनि बढ्छ । मालिकले आफ्ना आँखाले धन-सम्पत्तिलाई हेर्नुभन्दा बाहेक उसलाई केचाहिँ बढी लाभ हुन्छ र?
Where ben many richessis, also many men ben, that eten tho; and what profitith it to the haldere, no but that he seeth richessis with hise iyen?
12 धेरै खाए पनि थोरै खाए पनि काम गर्ने मानिसको निद्रा मिठो हुन्छ, तर धनी मानिसको धन-सम्पत्तिले त्यसलाई राम्ररी सुत्न दिँदैन ।
Slepe is swete to hym that worchith, whether he etith litil ether myche; but the fulnesse of a ryche man suffrith not hym to slepe.
13 सूर्यमूनि मैले एउटा खराबी देखेको छुः मालिकले आफ्नै दुर्दशाको निम्ति धन-सम्पत्ति थुपार्छ ।
Also anothir sijknesse is ful yuel, which Y siy vndur the sunne; richessis ben kept in to the yuel of her lord.
14 जब धनी मानिसले दुर्भाग्यबाट आफ्नो धन-सम्पत्ति गुमाउँछ, तब त्यसले पालन-पोषण गरेको त्यसको आफ्नै छोरोको हातमा केही पनि हुँदैन ।
For thei perischen in the worste turment; he gendride a sone, that schal be in souereyn nedynesse.
15 मानिस आफ्नी आमाको कोखबाट नाङ्गै आएजस्तै त्यो पनि नाङ्गै छाडिने छ । त्यसले आफ्नो हातमा आफ्नो परिश्रमको कुनै फल लैजान सक्दैन ।
As he yede nakid out of his modris wombe, so he schal turne ayen; and he schal take awei with hym no thing of his trauel.
16 अर्कोचाहिँ खराबी यही हो, कि मानिस जसरी आउँछ, त्यसरी नै फर्केर जान्छ । त्यसैले बतासको लागि काम गर्ने मानिसलाई केचाहिँ लाभ छ र?
Outirli it is a wretchid sijknesse; as he cam, so he schal turne ayen. What therfor profitith it to hym, that he trauelide in to the wynde?
17 आफ्नो जीवनकालमा त्यसले नैराश्यमा खान्छ, अनि रोग र रिसबाट ज्यादै निराश हुन्छ ।
In alle the daies of his lijf he eet in derknessis, and in many bisinessis, and in nedynesse, and sorewe.
18 परमेश्वरले हामीलाई दिनुभएको यस जीवनकालमा सूर्यमूनि हामीले परिश्रम गर्दा हाम्रा सारा कामबाट प्राप्त कुराहरूको आनन्द मनाउनु, खानु र पिउनु नै ठिक र उचित हो भनी मैले देखेको छु । किनकि यो नै मानिसको जिम्मेवारी हो ।
Therfor this semyde good to me, that a man ete, and drynke, and vse gladnesse of his trauel, in which he trauelide vndir the sunne, in the noumbre of daies of his lijf, which God yaf to hym; and this is his part.
19 जसलाई परमेश्वरले धन-सम्पत्ति र जग्गा-जमिन, अनि त्यसको काममा त्यसको हिस्सा प्राप्त गर्ने र आनन्द मनाउने खुबी दिनुभएको छ, त्योचाहिँ परमेश्वरको वरदान हो ।
And to ech man, to whom God yaf richessis, and catel, and yaf power to hym to ete of tho, and to vse his part, and to be glad of his trauel; this is the yifte of God.
20 किनकि त्यसले आफ्नो जीवनका दिनहरूको प्रायः स्मरण गर्दैन, किनकि परमेश्वरले त्यसलाई यस्ता कुराहरूमा व्यस्त पारिदिनुहुन्छ जसमा त्यो काम गर्नमा रमाउँछ ।
For he schal not bithenke miche on the daies of his lijf, for God ocupieth his herte with delicis.
