व्यवस्था 2

1 तब हामी परमप्रभुले मलाई भन्‍नुभएझैँ नर्कटहरूको समुद्रको दिशातर्फ उजाड-स्थानमा यात्रा गर्‍यौँ । हामीले धेरै दिनसम्म सेइर पर्वतको फन्को मार्‍यौँ ।

“And setting out from there, we arrived at the wilderness which leads to the Red Sea, just as the Lord had spoken to me. And we encompassed Mount Seir for a long time.

2 परमप्रभुले मलाई यसो भन्‍नुभयो, '

And the Lord said to me:

3 तिमीहरू धेरै दिनसम्म यस पर्वतको वरिपरि घुम्दै छौ । अब उत्तरतिर फर्क ।

‘You have encompassed this mountain for long enough. Go forth, toward the north.

4 मानिसहरूलाई यसो भनी आज्ञा दे, 'तिमीहरू सेइरमा बस्‍ने एसावका सन्तानहरू अर्थात् तिमीहरूका दाजुभाइहरूको सिमाना पार गरेर जानुपर्छ । तिनीहरू तिमीहरूदेखि डराउने छन् । त्यसकारण सावधान होओ ।

And instruct the people, saying: You shall cross through the borders of your brothers, the sons of Esau, who live at Seir, and they will fear you.

5 तिनीहरूसँग लडाइँ नगर्नू किनकि म तिनीहरूको कुनै पनि देश तिमीहरूलाई दिने छैनँ । पैतलाले टेक्‍ने जत्रो ठाउँ पनि म तिमीहरूलाई दिने छैनँ । किनकि मैले सेइर पर्वत एसावको अधिकारमा दिएको छु ।

Therefore, take care diligently, lest you be moved against them. For I will not give to you from their land even as much as the step that one foot can tread upon, because I have given Mount Seir to Esau as a possession.

6 तिमीहरूले खानका लागि पैसा तिरेर तिनीहरूबाट खाना किन्‍नू । तिमीहरूले पिउनका लागि पैसा तिरेर तिनीहरूबाट पानी पनि किन्‍नू ।

You shall buy food from them for money, and you shall eat. You shall draw water for money, and you shall drink.

7 किनकि परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका परमेश्‍वरले तिमीहरूलाई तिमीहरूका हातका सबै काममा तिमीहरूलाई आशिष् दिनुभएको छ । यो ठुलो उजाड-स्थानको यात्राभरि उहाँले तिमीहरूको हेरचाह गर्नुभएको छ । यी चालिस वर्ष परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका परमेश्‍वर तिमीहरूसित हुनुभएको छ, र तिमीहरूलाई कुनै कुरोको कमी भएको छैन' ।”

The Lord your God has blessed you in every work of your hands. The Lord your God, dwelling with you, knows your journey, how you crossed through this great wilderness over forty years, and how you have been lacking in nothing.’

8 त्यसैले हामी सेइरमा बस्‍ने एसावका सन्तानहरू अर्थात् हाम्रा दाजुभाइहरूका सिमानाहरू भएर गयौँ । यो ठाउँ एलात र एस्योन-गेबेर अनि अराबाट पर पर्छ । तब हामी फर्केर मोआबको उजाड-स्थानको बाटो लाग्यौँ ।

And when we had passed through our brothers, the sons of Esau, who were living at Seir by the way of the plain from Elath and from Eziongeber, we arrived at the way which leads to the desert of Moab.

9 परमप्रभुले मलाई भन्‍नुभयो, 'मोआबलाई दुःख नदे, र तिनीहरूसित लडाइँ नगर् । म त्यसको देश तिमीहरूको आफ्नो अधिकार हुनलाई दिन्‍नँ किनभने मैले आर सहरलाई लोतका सन्तानहरूको अधिकार हुनलाई दिएको छु ।'

And the Lord said to me: ‘You should not fight against the Moabites, nor should you go to battle against them. For I will not give to you anything from their land, because I have given Ar to the sons of Lot as a possession.’

10 (पहिले त्यहाँ एमीहरू बस्थे जुन जाति पराक्रमी, असङ्ख्य र अनाकीहरूजस्तै अग्ला-अग्ला थिए ।

The Emim were the first of its inhabitants, a people great and strong, and of such great height, like the race of the Anakim.

11 अनाकीहरूझैँ यी मानिसहरू पनि रपाईहरू हुन् भनी ठानिन्छ, तर मोआबीहरूले तिनीहरूलाई एमी भन्थे ।

They were considered to be like giants, and they were like the sons of the Anakim. And, indeed, the Moabites call them: the Emim.

12 सेइरमा पहिले होरीहरू पनि बस्थे, तर एसावका सन्तानहरूले तिनीहरूलाई धपाए । तिनीहरूले होरीहरूलाई त्यहाँबाट निकाली तिनीहरूको ठाउँमा बसोबास गरे जस्तो परमप्रभुले इस्राएललाई तिनीहरूको अधिकारको रूपमा यो देश दिनुभएको थियो ।)

The Horites also formerly lived at Seir. When these had been driven out and destroyed, the sons of Esau lived there, just as Israel did in the land of his possession, which the Lord gave to him.

13 'अब उठेर जेरेद खोला पारि जाओ ।' त्यसैले हामी जेरेद खोला पारि गयौँ ।

Then, rising up so as to cross over the torrent Zered, we arrived at the place.

14 कादेश-बर्नेबाट जेरेद खोला पारिसम्म आउन हामीलाई अठतिस दिन लाग्यो । त्यस बेलासम्म परमप्रभुले शपथ खानुभएझैँ लडाइँको लागि योग्य सबै मानिसको त्यो पुस्ता नष्‍ट भइसकेको थियो ।

Then, from the time that we advanced from Kadesh-barnea until we crossed over the torrent Zered, there were thirty-eight years, until the entire generation of the men who were fit for war had been consumed out of the camp, just as the Lord had sworn.

15 त्यस बाहेक, तिनीहरूलाई नष्‍ट नपारूञ्‍जेल परमप्रभुको हात त्यो पुस्ताको विरुद्धमा थियो ।

For his hand was against them, so that they would pass away from the midst of the camp.

16 जब मानिसहरूका बिचबाट लडाइँको लागि योग्य सबै मानिस मरेर गए,

Then, after all the fighting men had fallen,

17 परमप्रभुले मलाई यसो भन्‍नुभयो,

the Lord spoke to me, saying:

18 'आज तिमीहरूले मोआबको सिमाना आर सहरलाई पार गर्नुपर्छ ।

‘Today, you shall cross the borders of Moab, at the city named Ar.

19 तिमीहरू अम्मोनका मानिसहरूको सिमानामा आइपुग्दा तिनीहरूलाई दुःख नदेओ वा तिनीहरूसित लडाइँ नगर । अम्मोनीहरूको कुनै पनि भूमि म तिमीहरूको अधिकारको रूपमा दिन्‍नँ । किनकि मैले यो देश लोतका सन्तानहरूलाई अधिकारको रूपमा दिएको छु ।'

And when you have arrived in the vicinity of the sons of Ammon, be careful that you do not fight against them, nor should you be moved to battle. For I will not give to you from the land of the sons of Ammon, because I have given it to the sons of Lot as a possession.’

20 (त्यसलाई पनि रपाईहरूको देश ठानिन्थ्यो । त्यहाँ पहिले रपाईहरू बस्थे, तर अम्मोनीहरूले तिनीहरूलाई जमजुम्मीहरू भन्दथे ।

It was reputed to be a land of giants. And giants lived there in times past, those whom the Ammonites call the Zamzummim.

21 तिनीहरू पराक्रमी, असङ्ख्य र अनाकीहरूझैँ अग्ला-अग्ला थिए । तर परमप्रभुले अम्मोनीहरूकै सामुन्‍ने तिनीहरूलाई नष्‍ट गरिदिनुभयो र तिनीहरूले यिनीहरूलाई धपाएर तिनीहरू यिनीहरूको ठाउँमा बसे ।

They are a people, great and numerous, and of lofty stature, like the Anakim, whom the Lord wiped away before their face. And he caused them to live there in place of them,

22 परमप्रभुले सेइरमा बस्‍ने एसावका सन्तानहरूकै सामुन्‍ने होरीहरूलाई नष्‍ट गरी तिनीहरूको ठाउँमा यिनीहरूलाई राख्‍नुहुँदा यिनीहरूका लागि पनि यसै गर्नुभयो । यिनीहरू आजसम्म यहाँ बसोबास गर्दै छन् ।

just as he had done for the sons of Esau, who live at Seir, wiping out the Horites and delivering their land to them, which they possess even to the present time.

23 गाजासम्म टाढा गाउँहरूमा बस्‍ने अव्वीहरूलाई कप्‍तोरबाट आएका कप्‍तोरीहरूले नष्‍ट पारी तिनीहरूको ठाउँमा बसोबास गरे ।)

Likewise the Hevites, who were living in small villages as far as Gaza, were expelled by the Cappadocians, who went forth from Cappadocia, and they wiped them out and lived in their place.

24 'अब उठेर आफ्ना यात्रा थाल अनि अर्नोनको बेँसी पार गर । हेर, मैले हेश्बोनका राजा एमोरी सीहोन र त्यसको देश तिमीहरूलाई दिएको छु । यसलाई कब्जा गर्न थाल र त्योसित लडाइँ गर ।

‘Rise up and cross the torrent Arnon! Behold, I have delivered Sihon, the king of Heshbon, the Amorite, into your hand, and so, begin to possess his land and to engage in battle against him.

25 पुरै आकाशमुनि भएका जाति-जातिहरूमा म तिमीहरूको डर र त्रास हाल्न सुरु गर्ने छु । तिनीहरूले तिमीहरूको बारेमा भएको खबर सुनेर थरथर काम्‍ने छन् अनि तिमीहरूको कारणले विचलित हुने छन् ।'

Today I will begin to send the terror and dread of you among the peoples who are living under all of heaven, so that, when they hear your name, they may be afraid, and may tremble in the manner of a woman giving birth, and may be gripped by anguish.’

26 मैले कदेमोतको उजाड-स्थानबाट हेश्बोनका राजा सीहोनलाई शान्तिका वचनहरूसहित सन्देशवाकहरू पठाएँ,

Therefore, I sent messengers from the wilderness of Kedemoth to Sihon, the king of Heshbon, with peaceful words, saying:

27 'मलाई तपाईंको देश भएर जान दिनुहोस् । म लोकमार्ग भएर जानेछु । म दाहिने र देब्रे लाग्‍ने छैनँ ।

‘We will cross through your land. We will advance by the public way. We will not turn aside, neither to the right, nor to the left.

28 खानको लागि तपाईंले मलाई पैसामा खाना बेच्नुहुने छ र पिउनको लागि पैसामा पानी दिनुहुने छ । केवल मलाई तपाईंको देश भएर जान दिनुहोस्

Sell us food for a price, so that we may eat. Provide us with water for money, and so we will drink. We only ask that you allow us to pass through,

29 । जसरी सेइरमा बस्‍ने एसावका सन्तानहरू र आर सहरमा बस्‍ने मोआबीहरूले मेरो निम्ति गरेथे त्यसै गरी मैले यर्दन पार गरी परमप्रभु हाम्रा परमेश्‍वरले हामीलाई दिनुहुने देशमा नपुगेसम्म त्यसै गर्नुहोस् ।'

just as the sons of Esau have done, who live at Seir, and the Moabites, who abide in Ar, until we arrive at the Jordan, and we cross to the land which the Lord our God will give to us.’

30 तर हेश्बोनका राजा सीहोनले हाम्रो कुरा सुनेनन् र हामीलाई तिनको बाटो भएर जान दिएनन् । किनकि परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका परमेश्‍वरले तिनको मन कठोर बनाइदिनुभएको थियो र तिनको हृदय हठी बनाइदिनुभएको थियो ताकि तिमीहरूको शक्तिद्वारा उहाँले तिनलाई पराजित गर्नुभएको होस् जस्तो उहाँले आजको दिनसम्म गर्नुभएको छ ।

And Sihon, the king of Heshbon, was not willing to grant passage to us. For the Lord your God had hardened his spirit, and had fastened his heart, so that he would be delivered into your hands, just as you now see.

31 परमप्रभुले मलाई भन्‍नुभयो, 'हेर्, मैले तेरै सामुन्‍ने सीहोन र त्यसको देश तँलाई दिन थालेको छु । यस देशमाथि तेरो अधिकार होस् भनेर यसलाई कब्जा गर्न थाल् ।'

And the Lord said to me: ‘Behold, I have begun to deliver Sihon and his land to you. Begin to possess it.’

32 तब सीहोन आफ्ना सबै मानिस लिएर यहसा भन्‍ने ठाउँमा हाम्रो विरुद्धमा लड्न आए ।

And Sihon went out to meet us with all his people, to battle at Jahaz.

33 परमप्रभु हाम्रा परमेश्‍वरले तिनलाई हाम्रो हातमा सुम्पिदिनुभयो र हामीले तिनी, तिनका छोराहरू र तिनका सबै मानिसलाई पराजित गर्‍यौँ ।

And the Lord our God delivered him to us. And we struck him down, with his sons and all his people.

34 त्यस बेला हामीले तिनका सबै सहर कब्जा गरी हरेक सहर, पुरुष र स्‍त्रीहरू अनि बालबच्‍चाहरूलाई पूर्ण रूपले नष्‍ट पार्‍यौँ । एउटै पनि बाँचेन ।

And we seized all his cities at that time, putting to death their inhabitants: men as well as women and children. We left nothing of them,

35 आफ्ना निम्ति लुटको मालको रूपमा लगेका गाईवस्तु र सहरबाट लुटिएका मालहरू मात्र हामीले लियौँ ।

except the cattle, which went to the share of those who plundered them. And we seized the spoils of the cities,

36 अर्नोन बेँसीको छेउमा भएको अरोएरदेखि र बेँसीमा भएको सहरदेखि गिलादसम्म हामीले कब्जा गर्न नसक्‍ने कुनै सहर थिएन । परमप्रभु हाम्रा परमेश्‍वरले ती हाम्रा हातमा दिनुभयो ।

from Aroer, which is above the bank of the torrent Arnon, a town which is situated in a valley, all the way to Gilead. There was not a village or city which escaped from our hands. The Lord our God delivered everything to us,

37 केवल अम्मोनका सन्तानहरूको देशसाथै यब्बोक नदीका सबै किनाराका जग्गा अनि पहाडी देशका सहरहरू जहाँ परमप्रभु हाम्रा परमेश्‍वरले जान हामीलाई निषेध गर्नुभयो थियो, त्यहाँ तिमीहरू गएनौ ।

except the land of the sons of Ammon, which we did not approach, and all that is adjacent to the torrent Jabbok, and the cities in the mountains, and all the places which the Lord our God prohibited to us.”
