व्यवस्था 1
1 यर्दन नदीको बेँसीको मैदानमा सुपको सामुन्ने अराबामा पारान, तोफेल, लाबान, हसेरोत र दीसाहाबका बिचमा यर्दनपारिको उजाड-स्थानमा मोशाले सबै इस्राएलीलाई दिएका वचन यिनै हुन् ।
These are the words which Moses spoke unto all Israel on this side of the Jordan, in the wilderness, in the plain opposite Suph, between Paran, and Tophel, and Laban, and Chazeroth, and Di-zahab.
2 होरेबदेखि सेइर पर्वतको बाटो भएर कादेश-बर्नेसम्म पुग्न एघार दिन लाग्छ ।
It is a journey of eleven days from Horeb by the way of mount Seir unto Kadesh-barnea'.
3 चालिसौँ वर्षको एघारौँ महिनाको पहिलो दिनमा मोशाले इस्राएलका सबै मानिसलाई परमप्रभुले तिनीहरूको बारेमा मोशालाई आज्ञा गर्नुभएका सबै कुरा तिनले तिनीहरूलाई बताइदिए ।
And it came to pass in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first day of the month, that Moses spoke unto the children of Israel, according to all that the Lord had commanded him concerning them;
4 हेश्बोनमा बस्ने एमोरीहरूका राजा सीहोन र एद्रईको अस्तारोतमा बस्ने बाशानका राजा ओगलाई परमप्रभुले आक्रमण गर्नुभएपछि यो भएको थियो ।
After he had smitten Sichon the king of the Emorites, who dwelt in Cheshbon, and 'Og the king of Bashan, who dwelt at 'Ashtaroth in Edre'i.
5 यर्दनपारि मोआब देशमा मोशाले यी निर्देशनहरू दिन थाले,
On this side of the Jordan, in the land of Moab, began Moses to explain this law, saying,
6 “परमप्रभु हाम्रा परमेश्वर यसो भन्दै होरेबमा हामीसित बोल्नुभयो, 'तिमीहरू यस डाँडामा बसेको धेरै भइसकेको छ ।
The Lord our God spoke unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have tarried long enough at this mount;
7 आफ्नो यात्रा सुरु गरी एमोरीहरूको पहाडी देश र त्यसका छेउछाउका सबै ठाउँ अर्थात् यर्दन नदीको बेँसीको मैदान, पहाडी देश, तराई, नेगेव र समुद्रीतटमा कनानीहरूको देश र लेबनान र महानदी यूफ्रेटिससम्म जाओ ।
Turn you, and take your journey, and go to the mountain of the Emorites, and unto all its neighboring places, in the plain, in the mountain, and in the lowlands, and in the southern country, and by the coast of the sea, to the land of the Canaanites, and unto the Lebanon, up to the great river, the river Euphrates.
8 हेर, मैले यो देश तिमीहरूको सामु राखिदिएको छु । परमप्रभुले तिमीहरूका पिता-पुर्खाहरू अर्थात् अब्राहाम, इसहाक र याकूबसित तिनीहरू र तिनीहरूका सन्तानहरूलाई दिने प्रतिज्ञा गर्नुभएको देशमा गएर यसलाई कब्जा गर ।'
Behold, I have given up the land before you: go in and take possession of the land which the Lord hath sworn unto your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give it unto them and to their seed after them.
9 त्यस बेला मैले तिमीहरूलाई यसो भनेँ, 'म एक्लै तिमीहरूलाई अगुवाइ गर्न सक्दिनँ ।
And I said unto you at that time, as followeth, I am not able alone to bear you:
10 परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका परमेश्वरले तिमीहरूको वृद्धि गराउनुभएको छ, अब हेर आज तिमीहरू आकाशका तारापुञ्जजस्तै धेरै भएका छौ ।
The Lord your God hath multiplied you, and, behold, ye are this day as the stars of heaven for multitude.
11 परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका पिता-पुर्खाका परमेश्वरले आफूले प्रतिज्ञा गरेअनुसार तिमीहरूलाई हजारौँ गुणा वृद्धि गरी तिमीहरूलाई आशिष् दिनुभएको होस् ।
May the Lord the God of your fathers make you a thousand times as many more as ye are; and bless you, as he hath spoken unto you.
12 तर म आफैले मात्र कसरी तिमीहरूका भार, तिमीहरूका बोझ र तिमीहरूका झगडाहरू बोक्न सक्छु?
How can I by myself alone bear your cumbrance, and your burden, and your strife!
13 हरेक कुलबाट बुद्धिमान् मानिसहरू, समझशक्ति भएकाहरू र असल नाम चलेकाहरूलाई छान र म तिनीहरूलाई तिमीहरूका नायक नियुक्त गर्ने छु ।'
Furnish for yourselves wise and understanding men, and those known among your tribes, and I will place them as chiefs over you.
14 तिमीहरूले जवाफ दिई मलाई भन्यौ, 'तपाईंले भन्नुभएको कुरो हाम्रो निम्ति असल छ ।'
And ye answered me, and said, The thing which thou hast spoken is good to do.
15 त्यसैले मैले तिमीहरूका कुलहरूबाट मुख्य मानिसहरू, बुद्धिमान् मानिसहरू, असल नाउँ चलेकाहरूलाई छानी तिनीहरूलाई तिमीहरूका नायक बनाएँ ताकि तिनीहरूले कुल-कुलअनुसार हजार, सय, पचास र दसको रेखदेख गरून् ।
And I took the chiefs of your tribes, wise and known men, and I set them as heads over you, captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, and captains over fifties, and captains over tens, and as officers for your tribes.
16 त्यस बेला मैले तिमीहरूका न्यायकर्ताहरूलाई यसो भनी आज्ञा दिएँ, 'तिमीहरूका दाजुभाइहरूका बिचमा भएको झगडालाई सुनी कुनै मानिस, भाइ र तिमीहरूका परदेशीको बिचमा धार्मिकतापूर्वक न्याय गर ।
And I commanded your judges at that time, saying, Hear the causes between your brethren, and judge righteously, between a man and his brother, and between his stranger.
17 झगदा हुँदा कसैको पक्षपात नगर । साना-ठुला दुवैको कुरामा समान रूपमा ध्यान देओ । मानिसको अनुहारदेखि नडराओ किनकि न्याय परमेश्वरको हो । तिमीहरूले मिलाउन नसक्ने झगडा मकहाँ ल्याओ र म त्यो सुन्ने छु ।'
Ye shall not respect persons in judgment; the small as well as the great shall ye hear; ye shall not be afraid of any man; for the judgment belongeth to God: and the cause that is too hard for you shall ye bring unto me, and I will hear it.
18 तिमीहरूले गर्नुपर्ने सबै कुरा मैले त्यस बेला नै तिमीहरूलाई आज्ञा गरेको थिएँ ।
And I commanded you at that time all the things which ye should do.
19 हामी होरेबबाट यात्रा गरी परमप्रभु हाम्रा परमेश्वरले हामीलाई आज्ञा गर्नुभएअनुसार तिमीहरूले देखेका विशाल र डरलाग्दो उजाड-स्थानबाट भएर एमोरीहरूको पहाडी देशतर्फ जाने बाटो लाग्यौँ अनि हामी कादेश-बर्ने आइपुग्यौँ ।
And we departed from Horeb, and we went through all that great and terrible wilderness, which ye have seen, by the way of the mountain of the Emorites, as the Lord our God had commanded us; and we came as far as Kadesh-barnea'.
20 मैले तिमीहरूलाई भनेँ, 'तिमीहरू एमोरीहरूको पहाडी देशमा आइपुगेका छौ जुन देश परमप्रभु हाम्रा परमेश्वरले हामीलाई दिँदै हुनुहुन्छ ।
And I said unto you, Ye are come unto the mountain of the Emorites, which the Lord our God doth give unto us.
21 हेर, परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका परमेश्वरले यो देश तिमीहरूका सामु राखिदिनुभएको छ । तिमीहरूका पिता-पुर्खाका परमप्रभु परमेश्वरले तिमीहरूलाई आज्ञा गर्नुभएअनुसार माथि उक्लेर यसको अधिकार गर । नडराओ, न त निरुत्साहित होओ ।'
Behold, the Lord thy God hath given up the land before thee: go up and take possession of it, as the Lord the God of thy fathers hath spoken unto thee; do not fear, and be not discouraged.
22 तिमीहरू हरेक मकहाँ आएर भन्यौ, 'हामीभन्दा अगिअगि मानिसहरू पठाऔँ ताकि तिनीहरूले हाम्रो निम्ति त्यस देशको भेद लिई हामीले त्यस देशलाई कसरी आक्रमण गर्नुपर्छ र हामी कुन-कुन सहरमा आइपुग्नुपर्ने हो भन्ने बारेमा तिनीहरूले बताऊन् ।'
And ye all came near unto me and said, Let us send out men before us, that they may search out for us the land, and bring us word again concerning the way by which we must go up, and the cities to which we shall come.
23 त्यो सल्लाहले मलाई ज्यादै खुसी पार्यो । मैले तिमीहरूमध्ये हरेक कुलबाट एक-एक गरी बाह्र जना मानिस छानेँ ।
And the thing was pleasing in my eyes; and I took of you twelve men, one man for every tribe:
24 तिनीहरू पहाडी देशमा गए । तिनीहरू एश्कोलको बेँसीमा पुगी यसको जासुसी गरे ।
And they turned and went up into the mountain, and came unto the valley of Eshcol, and spied it out.
25 तिनीहरूले आ-आफ्ना हातमा त्यस देशका केही उत्पादनहरू हामीकहाँ ल्याए । तिनीहरूले हामीकहाँ यस्तो समाचार पनि ल्याए, 'परमप्रभु हाम्रा परमेश्वरले हामीलाई दिन लाग्नुभएको यो देश असल छ ।'
And they took in their hand some of the fruit of the land, and brought it down unto us; and they brought us word again, and said, The land which the Lord our God doth give us is good.
26 तर तिमीहरूले आक्रमण गर्न इन्कार गरी परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका परमेश्वरको आज्ञाको विरुद्धमा गयौ ।
But you would not go up, and ye rebelled against the order of the Lord your God;
27 तिमीहरूका पालहरूमा गनगन गर्दै तिमीहरूले भन्यौ, “परमप्रभुले हामीलाई घृणा गर्नुभएको छ । त्यसैले, एमोरीहरूको हातमा सुम्पी हामीलाई नष्ट गर्न उहाँले हामीलाई मिश्र देशबाट बाहिर ल्याउनुभएको छ ।
And ye murmured in your tents, and said, On account of the hatred of the Lord toward us, hath he brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Emorites, to destroy us.
28 अब हामी कहाँ जाने? हाम्रा दाजुभाइहरूले यसो भनी हामीलाई निराश बनाएका छन्, 'ती मानिसहरू हामीभन्दा ठुला र अग्ला छन् । तिनीहरूका सहरहरू विशाल छन् र आकाशसम्मै पर्खाल लगाइएका छन् । त्यस बाहेक, त्यहाँ हामीले अनाकीहरूका सन्तानहरूलाई पनि देखेका छौँ' ।”
Whither shall we go up? our brethren have made faint our heart, saying, The people is greater and taller than we; the cities are great and fortified up to heaven; and moreover the sons of the 'Anakim have we seen there.
29 तब मैले तिमीहरूलाई भनेँ, 'भयभीत नहोओ, न त तिनीहरूदेखि डराओ ।
And I said unto you, Have no dread, nor be ye afraid of them.
30 तिमीहरूका अगिअगि जानुहुने तिमीहरूका परमप्रभु परमेश्वर नै तिमीहरूका पक्षमा लड्नुहुने छ जस्तो तिमीहरूकै आँखाका सामुन्ने मिश्रमा तिमीहरूका निम्ति उहाँले गर्नुभएको थियो ।
The Lord your God who goeth before you, he it is who will fight for you; all just as he did for you in Egypt before your eyes;
31 तिमीहरू यस ठाउँमा नआइपुगुञ्जेलसम्म बुबाले आफ्नो छोरोलाई बोकेजस्तै उजाड-स्थानसाथै हरेक ठाउँमा परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका परमेश्वरले तिमीहरूलाई बोक्नुभएको तिमीहरूले देखेकै छौ ।'
And in the wilderness which thou hast seen, where the Lord thy God bore thee, as a man doth bear his son, on all the way that ye have gone, until ye came unto this place.
32 यस वचनका बाबजुत पनि तिमीहरूले परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका परमेश्वरमा विश्वास गरेनौ
Yet in this thing do ye not believe in the Lord your God,
33 जो रातमा आगो र दिनमा बादल बनेर तिमीहरूलाई छाउनी बनाउने ठाउँ पत्ता लगाउन तिमीहरूका अगिअगि जानुभयो ।
Who goeth before you on the way to seek out for you a place for your encamping, in fire by night, to cause you to see on the way in which ye are to go, and in a cloud by day.
34 परमप्रभुले तिमीहरूको आवाज सुन्नुभयो र उहाँ रिसाउनुभयो । उहाँले शपथ खाएर भन्नुभयो,
And the Lord heard the voice of your words; and he was wroth, and swore, saying,
35 'निश्चय नै यो दुष्ट पुस्ताको एउटै मान्छेले पनि मैले तिमीहरूका पिता-पुर्खाहरूलाई दिन्छु भनेको असल देश देख्ने छैन ।
Surely there shall not one of these men of this evil generation see that good land, which I have sworn to give unto your fathers;
36 तर यपुन्नेका छोरा कालेबले यो देश देख्नेछ । त्यसले पूर्ण रूपमा परमप्रभुलाई पछ्याएकोले म त्यसलाई र त्यसका सन्तानहरूलाई त्यसले पाइला टेकेको यो देश दिने छु ।'
Save Caleb the son of Yephunneh, he shall see it, and to him will I give the land upon which he hath trodden, and to his children; because he hath wholly followed the Lord.
37 तिमीहरूका कारणले परमप्रभु मसित पनि रिसाउनुभयो, 'तँ पनि त्यहाँ जाने छैनस् ।
also with me was the Lord angry for your sakes, saying, also thou shalt not go in thither.
38 मेरो सामु खडा हुने नूनका छोरा यहोशू त्यहाँ जाने छ । त्यसलाई उत्साह दे किनकि त्यसले यस देशको कब्जा गर्न इस्राएललाई अगुवाइ गर्नेछ ।
Joshua the son of Nun, who standeth before thee, he shall go in thither: him encourage; for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.
39 यस बाहेक, तेरा स-साना बालबालिकाहरू जसको विषयमा तैँले तिनीहरू सिकार हुने छन् भनी बताएको थिइस्, जससित आज असल र खराबको ज्ञान छैन, तिनीहरू नै त्यहाँ जाने छन् । तिनीहरूलाई म यो देश दिने छु र तिनीहरूले यसको अधिकार गर्ने छन् ।
And your little ones, of whom ye said, They will become a prey, and your children who know not this day either good or evil, these shall go in thither; and unto them will I give it, and they shall possess it.
40 तर तिमीहरू भने फर्केर उजाड-स्थानको बाटो हुँदै नर्कटहरूको समुद्रको दिशातर्फ जाओ ।'
But as for you, turn you, and take your journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red Sea.
41 तब तिमीहरूले मलाई जवाफ दियौ, 'हामीले परमप्रभुको विरुद्धमा पाप गरेका छौँ । हामी माथि उक्लेर लडाइँ गर्ने छौँ, र परमप्रभु हाम्रा परमेश्वरले हामीलाई गर्नू भनी आज्ञा दिनुभएका सबै कुरा हामी गर्नेछौँ । तिमीहरूका बिचमा भएका हरेक पुरुषले आ-आफ्नो हतियार उठाएर त्यस पहाडी देशलाई आक्रमण गर्न तयार भयौ ।
And ye answered and said unto me, We have sinned against the Lord; we indeed will go up and we will fight, according to all that the Lord our God hath commanded us; and ye girded on every man his weapons of war, and ye insisted to go up into the mountain.
42 परमप्रभुले मलाई भन्नुभयो, 'तिनीहरूलाई भन्, “आक्रमण नगर्; लडाइँ नगर् किनकि म तिमीहरूसँग हुने छैनँ, र तिमीहरू आफ्ना शत्रुहरूद्वारा पराजित हुने छौ ।'
And the Lord said unto me, Say unto them, Go not up, and do not fight; for I am not among you; lest ye be smitten before your enemies.
43 मैले तिमीहरूलाई यसरी नै भनेँ, तर तिमीहरूले मेरो कुरा सुनेनौ । तिमीहरू परमप्रभुको आज्ञाको विरुद्धमा गयौ । तिमीहरू हठी भयौ र त्यस पहाडी देशलाई आक्रमण गर्न गयौ ।
And I spoke unto you; but ye would not hear; and ye rebelled against the order of the Lord, and you were presumptuous, and went up into the mountain.
44 तर त्यस पहाडी देशमा बस्ने एमोरीहरू तिमीहरूको विरुद्धमा आएर तिमीहरूलाई मौरीलाई झैँ लखेटे अनि सेइरदेखि होर्मासम्मै तिमीहरूलाई प्रहार गरे ।
And the Emorites, who dwelt in that mountain: came out against you, and they pursued you, as the bees do, and they overthrew you in Seir, as far as Chormah.
45 तिमीहरू फर्केर पमरप्रभुको सामु रोयौ । तर पमरप्रभुले तिमीहरूको रुवाइ सुन्नुभएन, न त उहाँले तिमीहरूलाई ध्यानै दिनुभयो ।
And ye returned and wept before the Lord; but the Lord hearkened not to your voice, nor gave ear unto you.
46 त्यसैले तिमीहरू कादेशमा धेरै दिनसम्म बस्यौ । तिमीहरूले त्यहाँ पुरै दिनहरू बितायौ ।
And ye tarried in Kadesh many days, according unto the days that ye tarried there.
