प्रेरित 8
1 तिनको हत्यामा शाऊल पनि सहमत थिए । त्यही दिन यरूशलेमको मण्डलीको विरुद्धमा ठुलो सतावट सुरु भयो र प्रेरितहरूबाहेक अन्य विश्वासीहरू यहूदिया र सामारियाका क्षेत्रहरूमा तितर-बितर भएर गए ।
Saul approved of his being put to death. On that very day a great persecution broke out against the church which was in Jerusalem; and its members, with the exception of the apostles, were all scattered over the districts of Judea and Samaria.
2 ईश्वरभक्त मानिसहरूले स्तिफनसलाई गाडे र तिनको लागि बेसरी विलाप गरे ।
Some religious men buried Stephen, with loud lamentations for him.
3 तर शाऊलले मण्डलीलाई औधी हानि पुर्याए । तिनी घरैपिच्छे जान्थे र तिनले पुरुष र स्त्रीहरूलाई घिसारेर ल्याउँथे र तिनीहरूलाई झ्यालखानामा हालिदिन्थे ।
But Saul began to devastate the church; he entered house after house, dragged out men and women alike, and threw them into prison.
4 तथापि छरपष्ट भएका विश्वासीहरूले चारैतिर वचन बाँड्दै गए ।
Now those who were scattered in different directions went from place to place proclaiming the good news.
5 फिलिप सामरियाको सहरमा गए र तिनले तिनीहरूलाई ख्रीष्टको बारेमा प्रचार गरे ।
Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and there began to preach the Christ.
6 जब भिडले फिलिपले गरेका चिन्हहरू देखे तब तिनीहरूले ध्यान दिएर तिनका कुरा सुने ।
The people, one and all, listened attentively to what Philip told them, when they heard of, and saw, the miracles which he was working.
7 किनकि तिनीहरूमध्ये धेरै जनाबाट अशुद्ध आत्माहरू चिच्च्याउँदै निस्किआए र धेरै पक्षाघाती र लङ्गडाहरू निको भए ।
For there were many instances of people with foul spirits, where the spirits, with loud screams, came out of them; and many who were paralysed or lame were cured,
8 र त्यस सहरमा बडो आनन्द भयो ।
so that there was great rejoicing throughout that city.
9 तर त्यस सहरमा सिमोन नाउँ गरेको एक जना मानिस थियो जसले पहिले जादुगरी गर्ने गर्थ्यो । त्यसले एक प्रभावशाली मानिस थिए भन्ने दाबी गर्दै तिनले सामरियाका मानिसहरूलाई छक्क पार्ने गर्थ्यो ।
There was staying in the city a man named Simon, who had been practicing magic there and mystifying the Samaritan people, giving himself out to be some great being.
10 सबैभन्दा सानादेखि सबैभन्दा ठुलासम्मका सामरीहरूले त्यसका कुरा ध्यान दिएर सुन्थे । तिनीहरूले भन्थे, “यी मानिस परमेश्वरका ती शक्ति हुन् जसलाई महान् भनिन्छ ।”
Everyone, high and low, paid attention to him. “This man,” they used to say, “must be that power of God which people call ‘The Great Power.’”
11 तिनीहरूले त्यसका कुरा सुन्थे किनकि त्यसले आफ्नो जादुगरीद्वारा लामो समयदेखि तिनीहरूलाई चकित पार्दै आएको थियो ।
And they paid attention to him because they had for a long time been mystified by his magic arts.
12 तर जब फिलिपले परमेश्वरको राज्य र येशू ख्रीष्टको सुसमाचारको बारेमा जे प्रचार गरे तिनीहरूले त्यसमाथि विश्वास गरे अनि पुरुष र स्त्रीहरू दुवैले बप्तिस्मा लिए ।
However, when they came to believe Philip, as he told them the good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptised, both men and women.
13 सिमोन आफैँले पनि विश्वास गर्यो र बप्तिस्मा लियो । त्यो फिलिपसँगै लागिरह्यो । चिन्हहरू र उदेकका कामहरू देखेर त्यो छक्क परे ।
Even Simon believed, and after his baptism attached himself to Philip, and was in his turn mystified at seeing signs and great miracles constantly occurring.
14 सामरियाका मानिसहरूले परमेश्वरको वचनलाई ग्रहण गरे भन्ने कुरा जब यरूशलेमका प्रेरितहरूले सुने, तिनीहरूले पत्रुस र यूहन्नालाई उनीहरूकहाँ पठाए ।
When the apostles at Jerusalem heard that the Samaritans had welcomed God’s message, they sent Peter and John to them;
15 तिनीहरू आएपछि तिनीहरूले उनीहरूले पवित्र आत्मा पाउन सकून् भनी उनीहरूका निम्ति प्रार्थना गरे ।
and they, on their arrival, prayed that the Samaritans might receive the Holy Spirit.
16 किनकि त्यस बेलासम्म पवित्र आत्मा उनीहरूमध्ये कसैमाथि पनि आउनुभएको थिएन, प्रभु येशूको नाउँमा मात्र उनीहरूको बप्तिस्मा भएको थियो ।
(As yet the Spirit had not descended on any of them; they had only been baptised in the name of the Lord Jesus).
17 त्यसपछि पत्रुस र यूहन्नाले उनीहरूमाथि आफ्ना हात राखे र उनीहरूले पवित्र आत्मा पाए ।
Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.
18 प्रेरितहरूले हात राख्दा पवित्र आत्मा पाईंदोरहेछ भनी जब सिमोनले देख्यो त्यसले तिनीहरूलाई रूपैयाँ-पैसा दिन लाग्यो ।
When Simon saw that it was through the placing of the apostles’ hands on them that the Spirit was given, he brought them a sum of money and said,
19 त्यसले भन्यो, “मलाई पनि यो शक्ति दिनुहोस् ताकि मैले जो कसैमाथि हात राख्दा उसले पवित्र आत्मा पाउन सकोस् ।”
‘Give me also this power of yours, so that, if I place my hands on anyone, he may receive the Holy Spirit.’
20 तर पत्रुसले भने, “तेरो रूपैयाँ-पैसा तैँसित नष्ट होस् किनकि तैँले परमेश्वरको वरदानलाई रूपैयाँ-पैसाले प्राप्त गर्न सकिँदोरहेछ भनी ठानिस् ।
‘A curse on you and on your silver,’ Peter exclaimed, ‘for thinking that God’s free gift can be bought with money!
21 यस विषयमा तेरो कुनै हिस्सा वा भाग छैन किनकि तिम्रो हृदय परमेश्वरसित ठिक छैन ।
You have no share or part in our message, for your heart is not right with God.
22 त्यसकारण, तेरो दुष्टताको लागि पश्चात्ताप गरी प्रभुलाई प्रार्थना चढा, कतै उहाँले तँलाई क्षमा गरिदिनुहुन्छ कि ।
Therefore repent of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord, that, if possible, you may be forgiven for such a thought;
23 किनभने म देख्दछु कि तँ तिक्ताको विष र पापको बन्धनमा छस् ।”
for I see that you have fallen into the bitterness of envy and the fetters of sin.’
24 सिमोनले जवाफ दियो, “मेरो निम्ति प्रार्थना गरिदिनुहोस् ताकि तपाईंले भन्नुभएको कुनै पनि कुरा ममाथि आइनपरोस् ।”
‘Pray to the Lord for me, all of you,’ Simon answered, ‘so that none of the things you have spoken of may happen to me.’
25 पत्रुस र यूहन्नाले साक्षी दिई परमप्रभुको वचन बोलेपछि तिनीहरू यरूशलेम फर्के र बाटोमा सामरियाका धेरै गाउँहरूमा तिनीहरूले सुसमाचार प्रचार गरे ।
Peter and John, having borne their testimony and delivered the Lord’s message, returned to Jerusalem, telling the good news, as they went, in many Samaritan villages.
26 अब परमप्रभुका एउटा दूतले फिलिपलाई भने, “उठ र दक्षिणतिर जाऊ जहाँ यरूशलेमदेखि गाजासम्म जाने बाटो छ (यो बाटो उजाड-स्थानमा पर्दछ) ।”
Meanwhile an angel of the Lord had said to Philip, ‘Set out on a journey southwards, along the road that runs down from Jerusalem to Gaza.’ (It is now deserted).
27 तिनी उठे र गए । त्यहाँ इथियोपियाका एक जना नपुंसक थिए जो इथियोपिया देशकी रानी कन्दाकीका पदाधिकारी थिए । तिनी उनका सारा सम्पत्तिको कोषाध्यक्ष थिए । तिनी आराधनाको लागि यरूशलेम आएका थिए ।
So Philip set out on a journey; and on his way he came on an official of high rank, in the service of Candace, Queen of the Abyssinians. He was her treasurer, and had been to Jerusalem to worship,
28 फर्कंदै गर्दा तिनले रथमा यशैया अगमवक्ताको पुस्तक पढिरहेका थिए ।
and was now on his way home, sitting in his carriage and reading the prophet Isaiah.
29 पवित्र आत्माले फिलिपलाई भन्नुभयो, “माथि जाऊ र त्यस रथको साथ लाग ।”
The Spirit said to Philip, ‘Go up to the carriage over there and keep close to it.’
30 त्यसैले, फिलिप तिनीकहाँ दौडेर गए र तिनले यशैया अगमवक्ताबाट पढेको सुनेर फिलिपले सोधे, “के तपाईंले पढिरहनुभएको कुरा बुझ्नुहुन्छ?”
So Philip ran up, and he heard the Abyssinian reading the prophet Isaiah. ‘Do you understand what you are reading?’ he asked.
31 इथियोपियालीले भने, “कसैले मलाई नबुझाएसम्म म कसरी बुझ्न सक्छु र?” तिनले फिलिपलाई तिनीसँगै रथमा बस्न अनुरोध गरे ।
‘How can I,’ the other answered, ‘unless someone will explain it to me?’ and he invited Philip to get up and sit by his side.
32 इथियोपियालीले पढेको धर्मशास्त्रको खण्ड थियोः “काटिने थुमाजस्तै उसलाई लगियो; जसरी थुमा ऊन कत्रनेको सामु मौन हुन्छ त्यसै गरी उसले आफ्नो मुख खोल्दैन ।”
The passage of scripture which he was reading was this – “Like a sheep, he was led away to slaughter, and as a lamb is dumb in the hands of its shearer, so he refrains from opening his lips.
33 उसको विनम्रतामा उसको न्याय खोसियो । कसले उसको पुस्ताको घोषणा गर्ने? किनकि उसको जीवन यस पृथ्वीबाट हरण गरियो ।”
He was humiliated and justice was denied him. Who will tell the story of his generation? For his life is cut off from earth.”
34 त्यसैले, नपुंसकले फिलिपलाई सोधे, “मलाई बताइदिनुस् कि अगमवक्ताले कसको बारेमा भन्दै छन्— आफ्नै बारेमा वा अरू कसैको बारेमा?”
‘Now,’ said the Treasurer, addressing Philip, ‘tell me, of whom is the prophet speaking? Of himself, or of someone else?’
35 फिलिपले बताउन थाले । तिनले उनलाई येशूको बारेमा बताउन यशैयाको यस खण्डबाट सुरु गरे ।
Then Philip began, and, taking this passage as his text, told him the good news about Jesus.
36 तिनीहरू जाँदै गर्दा तिनीहरू केही पानी भएको ठाउँमा आइपुगे । नपुंसकले भने, “हेर्नुहोस्, यहाँ पानी छ । मलाई बप्तिस्मा लिनदेखि केले रोक्छ?”
Presently, as they were going along the road, they came to some water, and the Treasurer exclaimed, ‘Look! Here is water; what is to prevent my being baptised?’
37 त्यसैले, ती इथियोपियालीले रथ रोक्न आज्ञा दिए अनि फिलिप र नपुंसक दुवै जना पानी भएको ठाउँमा गए र फिलिपले तिनलाई बप्तिस्मा दिए ।
So he ordered the carriage to stop, and they went down into the water – both Philip and the Treasurer – and Philip baptised him.
39 तिनीहरू पानीबाट बाहिर आएपछि परमप्रभुका आत्माले फिलिपलाई लैजानुभयो । नपुंसकले तिनलाई फेरि देखेनन् र तिनी रमाउँदै आफ्नो बाटो लागे ।
But, when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, and the Treasurer saw no more of him; for he continued his journey with a joyful heart.
40 तर फिलिप अश्दोदमा देखा परे । तिनी कैसरिया नपुगुञ्जेलसम्म तिनले सबै सहरहरूमा सुसमाचार सुनाए ।
But Philip was found at Ashdod, and, as he went on his way, he told the good news in all the towns through which he passed, until he came to Caesarea.
