1 त्यसपछि सबै इस्राएल हेब्रोनमा दाऊदकहाँ आए र भने, “हे्र्नुहोस्, हामी तपाईंकै मासु र हड्डी हौं ।
Then came all the tribes of Israel unto David, in Hebron, —and spake, saying—Behold us! thy bone and thy flesh, we are.
2 केही समयअगि जब शाऊल हामीमाथि राजा थिए, तब तपाईंले नै इस्राएलको फौजको नेतृत्व गर्नुभयो । परमप्रभुले तपाईंलाई भन्नुभयो, 'तैंले नै मेरा इस्राएल इस्राएलको गोठालो गर्ने छस् र तँ नै इस्राएलमाथि शासक हुने छस्' ।”
Also, in time past, when Saul was king over us, thou, wast he that led out and brought in, Israel, —and Yahweh said to thee—Thou, shalt be shepherd unto my people, Israel, and, thou, shalt become leader over Israel.
3 त्यसैले इस्राएलका सबै धर्म-गुरुहरू राजाकहाँ हेब्रोनमा आए र राजा दाऊदले परमप्रभुको सामु तिनीहरूसँग करार गरे । तिनीहरूले दाऊदलाई इस्राएलमाथि राजा अभिषेक गरे ।
So all the elders of Israel came unto the king, in Hebron, and King David solemnised to them a covenant in Hebron, before Yahweh, —and they anointed David to be king over Israel.
4 दाऊदले राज्य गर्न सुरु गर्दा तिनी तिस वर्षका थिए र तिनले चालिस वर्षसम्म राज्य गरे ।
Thirty years old, was David when he began to reign, —forty years, he reigned:
5 तिनले हेब्रोनमा सात वर्ष छ महिना राज्य गरे र सबै इस्राएल र यहूदामा तेत्तीस वर्ष राज्य गरे ।
in Hebron, reigned he over Judah, seven years, and six months, —and, in Jerusalem, reigned he thirty and three years, over all Israel and Judah.
6 राजा र तिनका मानिसहरू त्यस ठाउँका बासिन्दाहरू अर्थात् यरूशलेमका यबूसीहरूका विरुद्ध लड्न गए । तिनीहरूले दाऊदलाई भने, “तपाईं यहाँ आउनुभयो भने, अन्धा र लङ्गडाले नै फर्काइदिने छन्। दाऊद यहाँ आउन सक्दैन ।”
Then went the king and his men, to Jerusalem, against the Jebusites, inhabiting the land, —and they spake to David, saying—Thou canst not come in hither, unless thou take away the blind and lame—Thinking, David will not come in hither.
7 तापनि, दाऊदले सियोनका किल्ला कब्जा गरे, जुन अहिले दाऊदको सहर हो ।
So then David captured the citadel of Zion, —the same, is the city of David.
8 त्यति नै बेला दाऊदले भने, “यबूसीहरूलाई आक्रमण गर्नेहरूले 'लङ्गडा र अन्धाकहाँ’ पुग्न पानीको नालीबाट जाने छ जो दाऊदका शत्रुहरू हुन् ।” यसैले मानिसहरूले भन्छन्, “'अन्धा र लङ्गडाहरू' दरबारमा प्रवेश गर्नुहुँदैन ।”
And David said, on that day—Whosoever is smiting the Jebusites, then let him reach as far as the aqueduct. But, as for the lame and the blind, they were the hated of David’s soul, —for which cause, they kept on saying, Blind and lame! he will not enter the place.
9 त्यसैले दाऊद त्यो किल्लामा बसे र यसलाई दाऊदको सहर भनियो । तिनले यसलाई गाराहरूदेखि भित्रसम्म नै किल्लाबन्दी गरे ।
So then David dwelt in the citadel, and called it, The City of David, —and David built round about, from Millo and inwards.
10 दाऊद धेरै शक्तिशाली भए किनभने परमप्रभु सर्वशक्तिमान् परमेश्वर तिनीसँग हुनुहुन्थ्यो ।
And David went on and on waxing great, —Yahweh, God of hosts, being with him.
11 त्यसपछि टुरोसका राजा हीरामले दाऊदकहाँ दूतहरू पठाए अनि देवदारुका काठहरू, डकर्मीहरू र सिकर्मीहरूलाई पनि पठाए । तिनीहरूले दाऊदको निम्ति महल बनाए ।
Then Hiram, king of Tyre, sent messengers unto David, with cedar-wood, and carpenters, and masons, and they built a house for David.
12 परमप्रभुले आफूलाई इस्राएलमाथि राजाको रूपमा स्थापित गर्नुभएको थियो भनी दाऊदले जान्दथे र उहाँले आफ्ना मानिस इस्राएलको खातिर तिनको राज्यलाई उच्च पार्नुभएको थियो ।
So David perceived that Yahweh had established him to be king over Israel, —and that he had exalted his kingdom, for the sake of his people Israel.
13 दाऊदले हेब्रोन छोडे र यरूशलेममा आए, त्यसपछि तिनले यरूशलेममा अरू धेरै उपपत्नीहरू र पत्नीहरू ल्याए र तिनका अरू धेरै छोराहरू र छोरीहरू जन्मे ।
And David took him yet more concubines and wives, out of Jerusalem, after he had come from Hebron, and there were, yet further, born unto David, sons and daughters.
14 यरूशलेममा जन्मेका तिनका छोराछोरीका नाउँ यीनै थिएः शम्मूअ, शोबाब, नातान, सोलोमन,
Now, these, are the names of the sons who were born unto him in Jerusalem, —Shammua and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon;
15 यिभार, इलीशूअ, नेपेग, यापी,
and Ibhar and Elishua and Nepheg and Yaphia;
16 एलीशामा, एल्यादा र एलीपेलेत ।
and Elishama and Eliada, and Eliphalet.
17 अब दाऊदलाई इस्राएलको राजा अभिषेक गरिएको छ भनेर जब पलिश्तीहरूले सुने, तब तिनीहरू सबै तिनलाई खोज्न गए । तर दाऊदले यो सुने र तल किल्लामा गए ।
And, when the Philistine heard that they had anointed David to be king over Israel, then came up all the Philistines to seek to secure David, and David heard of it, and went down into the citadel.
18 पलिश्तीहरू आएका थिए र रपाईको बेसीमा छरिएका थिए ।
Now, the Philistines, had come, —and had spread themselves out in the vale of Rephaim.
19 त्यसपछि दाऊदले परमप्रभुसँग सहायता मागे । तिनले भने, “के म पलिश्तीहरूलाई आक्रमण गरूँ? के तपाईंले मलाई तिनीहरूमाथि विजय दिनुहुन्छ?” पमरप्रभुले दाऊदलाई भन्नुभयो, “आक्रमण गर्, किनभने म निश्चय नै तँलाई पलिश्तीहरूमाथि विजय गराउने छु ।”
So then David enquired of Yahweh, saying, —Shall I go up against the Philistines? Wilt thou deliver them into my hand? And Yahweh said unto David—Go up; for I, will surely deliver, the Philistines into thy hand.
20 त्यसैले दाऊदले बाल-पराजीमा आक्रमण गरे र त्यहाँ तिनले तिनीहरूलाई पराजित गरे । तिनले भने, “परमप्रभु विष्फोट हुने पानीको बाढीझैं मेरो सामु मेरा शत्रुहरूका विरुद्ध विष्फोट हुनुभएको छ ।” त्यसैले त्यस ठाउँको नाउँ बाल-पराजीम भयो ।
And David entered Baal-perazim, and David smote them there, and said—Yahweh hath broken forth upon mine enemies, before me, like a breaking forth of waters. For this cause, called he the name of that place, Baal-perazim.
21 पलिश्तीहरूले त्यहाँ आफ्ना मूर्तीहरू छोडिराखे अनि दाऊद र तिनका मानिसहरूले ती लिएर गए ।
And they left their images there, —and David and his men took them away.
22 त्यसपछि पलिश्तीहरू फेरि माथि आए र फेरि एक पटक रपाईो बेसीमा फैलिएर बसे ।
And, yet again, did the Philistines come up, —and they spread themselves out in the vale of Rephaim.
23 त्यसैले दाऊदले फेरि पनि परमप्रभुसँग सहायता मागे र पमरप्रभुले तिनलाई भन्नुभयो, “तैंले तिनीहरूलाई अडागिबाट आक्रमण गर्नु हुँदैन, तर तिनीहरूको पछिल्तिरबाट फन्को मारेर लहरे-पिपलको जङ्गलभएर तिनीहरूमाथि जाइलाग ।
So David enquired of Yahweh, and he said—Thou shalt not go up, —Get round behind them, and come in upon them, over against the mulberry-trees.
24 जब तैंले लहरे-पिपलको टुप्पाहरूमा हावा लाग्दा आउने परेडको आवाज सुन्छस्, तब फौजका साथमा आक्रमण गर् । यसो गर् किनभने तैंले पलिश्तीहरू आक्रमण गर्नुअगि परमप्रभु जानुभएको हुनुहुने छ ।”
And it shall be, when thou shalt hear a sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry-trees, then, shalt thou act with decision, —for, then, will Yahweh have gone forth before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines.
25 त्यसैले परमप्रभुले आज्ञा गर्नुभएझैं दाऊदले गरे । तिनले पलिश्तीहरूलाई गिबिनदेखि गेजेरतिर जाने बाटोसम्म नै मारे ।
And David did so, as Yahweh had commanded him, —and smote the Philistines, from Gibeon until thou enterest Gezer.
