1 अब दाऊदको अन्तिम वचनहरू यी नै हुन्— यिशैका छोरा दाऊद, उच्‍च रूपमा आदर गरिएको मानिस, याकूबका परमेश्‍वरले अभिषेक गर्नुभएको व्‍यक्‍ति, इस्राएलको सुमधुर भजनकार ।

Now, these, are the last words of David, —The oracle of David, son of Jesse, Yea the oracle of The man raised up on high, The Anointed of the God of Jacob, the Delight of the Songs of Israel:

2 “परमप्रभुको आत्मा मद्वारा बोल्नुभयो र उहाँको वचन मेरो जिब्रोमा थियो ।

The Spirit of Yahweh, spake in me, —And, his word, was on my tongue;

3 इस्राएलका परमेश्‍वर बोल्नुभयो, इस्राएलका चट्टानले मलाई भन्‍नुभयो, 'जसले मानिसहरूमाथि धार्मिक रूपले शासन गर्छ, जसले परमेश्‍वरको भयमा शासन गर्छ ।

Said the God of Israel, Unto me, spake the Rock of Israel: —One Ruling over Men, A Righteous One, ruling in the reverence of God,

4 त्यो सूर्य उदाउँदाको बिहानको प्रकाश, बादलबिनाको एक बिहानजस्‍तो हुनेछ, जब पानी परेपछिको घामको उज्यालो चमकद्वारा पृथ्वीबाट नरम घाँस उम्रन्छ ।

Is even as the light of the morning when ariseth the sun, —A morning, without clouds, [As] from brightness, [and] from rain, the fresh shoots out of the earth.

5 वास्तवमा, के मेरो परिवार परमेश्‍वरको सामु यस्‍तै हुँदैन र? के उहाँले मसँग हरेक उपायले स्‍थापित र पक्‍का अनन्त करार गर्नुभएको छैन र? के उहाँले मेरो उद्धारको वृद्धि र मेरा सबै इच्छा पुरा गर्नुहुन्‍न र?

When, not so, was my house with GOD, Then, a covenant age-abiding, he appointed me, Ordered in all things and guarded, Now that it is all my salvation and all my desire, Will he not make it shoot forth?

6 तर व्यार्थकाहरू फालिने काँडाजस्तै हुनेछन्, किनभने तिनीहरूलाई कसैको हातले जम्‍मा पार्न सकिंदैन ।

But, as for the abandoned, like thorns to be tossed away are they all, —For, not with the hand, can they be taken;

7 तिनीहरूलाई छुने मानिसले फलामको समग्री वा भालाको बिंड प्रयोग गर्नुपर्छ । जहाँ तिनीहरू बस्‍छन् त्यहीं तिनीहरूलाई जलाउनुपर्छ' ।”

But, the man that would touch them, Must fence himself with iron, and the shaft of a spear, —Then, with fire, shall they be, consumed, on the spot!

8 दाऊदका वीर मानिहरूका नाउँ यी नै हुन्ः तहकमोनी योशब-बेश्बेत वीर मानिसहरूका अगुवा थिए । तिनलले एकै पटकमा आठ सय मानिसलाई मारे ।

These, are the names of the mighty men, who belonged to David, —The president a Tachmonite head of the charioteers, the same, was Adino the Eznite, for eight hundred, slain at one time.

9 तिनीपछि अहोही दोदैका छोरा एलाजार थिए । तिनी तीन जना वीर मनिसमध्ये एक जना थिए । युद्ध गर्न भेला भएका पलिश्तीहरूलाई इस्राएलीहरूले अपमान गर्दा र इस्राएलीहरू पछि हट्दा दाऊदको साथमा हुने तिनी नै थिए ।

And, after him, Eleazar son of Dodo, son of Ahohi, —in the hero-class of mighty men, with David, when they reproached the Philistines, they were gathered together there to battle, but the men of Israel had gone up;

10 एलाजार खडा भए र आफ्‍नो हात नथाकेसम्‍म, र तिनको हातले तरवारको बिंड नै नसमात्‍ने गरी नथाकेसम्म पलिश्तीहरूसँग युद्ध लडे । त्यस दिन परमप्रभुले ठुलो विजाय दिनुभयो । फौजहरू लाशहरूबाट लुट्नलाई मात्र एलाजारको पछि फर्केर गए ।

he, however, arose and smote among the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto his sword, so Yahweh wrought a great victory on that day, —the people, coming back after him, only to strip the slain.

11 तिनीपछि हरारी आगीका छोरा शम्मा थिए । पलिश्‍तीहरू दाल भएको खेतमा एकसाथ भेला भए र फौज तिनीहरूबाट भागे ।

And, after him, Shammah son of Agee, the Hararite, —and, when the Philistines were gathered together into a troop, there being at hand an allotment of field-land full of lentils, but, the people, having fled from the face of the Philistines,

12 तर शम्‍मा खेतको बिचमा भए भए र त्‍यसको प्रतिरक्षा गरे । तिनले पलिश्तीहरूलाई मारे र परमप्रभुले ठुलो विजय दिनुभयो ।

then took he his stand in the midst of the allotment, and defended it, and smote the Philistines, —and Yahweh wrought a great victory.

13 तीस जनामध्येका तीन जना सिपाही कटनीको समयमा तल दाऊदकहाँ अदुल्‍लामको गुफामा गए । पलिश्तीहरूका फौजले रपाईंको बेसीमा छाउनी हालेका थिए ।

And three of the thirty chiefs descended, and came in, towards harvest, unto David, unto the cave of Adullam, —although, a troop of Philistines, were encamped in the vale of Rephaim;

14 त्यस बेला दाऊद आफ्‍नो किल्‍ला अर्थात् गुफामा थिए, जबकि पलिश्तीहरू बेथलेहेममा स्थापित भएका थिए ।

and, David, then was in a stronghold, —and, a garrison of Philistines, was then in Bethlehem.

15 दाऊदले पानी तृष्णा गरे र भने, “बेथलेहेमको ढोकाको छेउमा भएको इनारको पानी कसैले ल्याइदिएको भए मात्रै पनि हुन्थ्यो नि!”

And David longed, and said, —Who will give me to drink water out of the well of Bethlehem, that is within the gate?

16 त्यसैले यी तीन जना वीर मानिसहरू पलिश्तीहरूको फौजलाई तोडेर बिचबाट गए र बेथलेहेमको ढोकाको छेउमा भएको इनारको पानी ल्याए । तिनीहरूले पानी लिए र दाऊदकहाँ ल्याए, तर तिनले त्यो पिउन इन्कार गरे । बरु, तिनले त्यो परमप्रभुमा चढाए ।

And the three mighty men brake through the camp of Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was within the gate, and bare it, and brought it in unto David, —yet would he not drink, but poured it out unto Yahweh,

17 अनि तिनले भने, “हे परमप्रभु, मैले यसो गर्ने कुरा मबाट दूर रहोस् । के मैले ती मानिसहरूका रगत पिउनु जसले आफ्‍ना जीवनलाई खतरामा हालेका छन्?” त्यसैले तिनले त्‍यो पिउन इन्कार गरे । ती तीन जना वीर मानिसले यी कुराहरू गरेका थिए ।

and said—Be it far from me, O Yahweh, that I should do this! is it not the blood of the men who went with their lives [in their hands]? So he would not drink it. These things, did the three mighty men.

18 योआबका भाइ र सरूयाहका छोरा अबीशै यी तिन जनाका कप्‍तान थिए । तिनले एक पटक तीन सय जना मानिससँग लडे र तिनीहरूलाई मारे । तिनलाई प्रायः तीन जना सिपाहरूसँगै उल्लेख गरिन्छ ।

And. Abishai brother of Joab son of Zeruiah, he, was chief of three, in that he brandished his spear against three hundred whom he slew; and, he, had a name among three.

19 के तिनी ती तीन जनाभन्दा धेरै प्रसिद्ध थिएनन् र? तिनलाई उनीहरूका कप्‍तान बनाइएको थियो । तापनि तिनको ख्‍याति तीन जना धेरै ख्‍यातिप्राप्‍त सिपाहीका बराबर थिएन ।

Was he not most honourable, of the three, and so became their captain? Nevertheless, unto the three, he attained not.

20 यहोयादाका छोरा कब्सेका छोरा बनायाह थिए । तिनी बलिया मानिस थिए जसले वीरतापूर्ण काम गरे । तिनले मोआबको अरिएलका दुई जना छोरालाई मारे । तिनले हिउँ परिरहेको बेला एउटा खाल्डोमा पसेर एउटा सिंहलाई मारे ।

Benaiah also, son of Jehoiadah, son of an active man, hero of many a deed, a man of Kabzeel, he, smote the two sons of Ariel of Moab, he, also went down and smote a lion in the midst of a pit, on a day of snow;

21 त्‍यसपछि तिनले एक जना ठुलो मिश्रीलाई मारे । मिश्रीको हातमा भाला थियो, तर बनायाहले त्यससँग लौरोले मात्र युद्ध लडे । तिनले त्‍यो मिश्रीको हातबाट भाला खोसे र त्यसको आफ्नै भालाले त्यसलाई मारे ।

he, also smote an Egyptian, who was of valiant bearing, and, in the hand of the Egyptian, was a spear, but he went down unto him with a staff, —and wrested the spear out of the hand of the Egyptian, and slew him with his own spear.

22 यहोयादाका छोरा बनायाहका वीरतापूर्ण कामहरू यी नै थिए, र तिनलाई तीन जना वीर मानिससँगै नाउँ दिइयो ।

These things, did Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and, he, had a name among three mighty men.

23 तिनलाई तीस जना सिपालाई भन्दा उच्‍च आदर दिइन्थ्यो, तर तिनलाई ती तीन जनालाई जत्ति उच्‍च रूपमा बिलकुलै मानिंदैनथ्यो । तापनि दाऊदले यिनलाई आफ्नो अङ्गरक्षकको जिम्‍मा दिए ।

He was the most honourable, of thirty, although, unto the three, he attained no, —so David added him to his council.

24 ती तिस जना मानिसहरू निम्नानुसार थिएः योआबका भाइ असाहेल, बेथलेहेमका दोदैका छोरा एल्हानान,

Asahel, brother of Joab, was among the thirty, —Elhanan, son of Dodo, of Bethlehem;

25 हरोदी शम्मा, हरोदी एलीका,

Shammah, the Harodite; Elika, the Harodite;

26 पल्ती हेलेस, तकोका इक्‍केशका छोरा ईरा,

Helez, the Paltite, Ira, son of Ikkesh, the Tekoite;

27 अनातोतका अबीएजेर, हूशाती मबून्‍ने,

Abiezer, the Anathothite, Mebunnai, the Hushathite;

28 अहोही सल्मोन, नतोपाती महरै,

Zalmon, the Ahohite, Maharai, the Netophathite;

29 नतोपाती बनायाहकका छोरा हेलेद, बेन्यामीनको गिबाका रीबैका छोरा ईथै।
