1 त्यसपछि अहीतोपेलले अब्शालोमलाई भने, “अब म बाह्र हजार मानिस छान्ने छु र म उठ्ने छु र दाऊदलाई आज राती नै खेदने छु ।
And Ahithophel said to Absalom, “Please let me choose twelve thousand men, and I arise and pursue after David tonight,
2 तिनी थकित र कमजोर हुँदा नै तिनीकहाँ म पुग्ने छु र तिनलाई भयङ्कर त्रासमा पार्ने छु । तिनीसँग भएका मानिसहरू भाग्ने छन् र म राजालाई मात्र आक्रमण गर्ने छु ।
and come on him, and he [will be] weary and feeble-handed, and I have caused him to tremble, and all the people who [are] with him have fled, and I have struck the king by himself,
3 दुलही आफ्नो दुलाहाकहाँ आएजस्तै सबै मानिसलाई म तपाईंकहाँ फर्काएर ल्याउने छु र सबै मानिस तपाईंको अधीनमा शान्तिमा रहने छन् ।”
and I bring back all the people to you—as the turning back of the whole [except] the man whom you are seeking—[then] all the people are [at] peace.”
4 अहीतोपेलले भनेको कुरा अब्शालोम र इस्राएलका सबै धर्म-गुरुलाई मन पर्यो ।
And the word is right in the eyes of Absalom, and in the eyes of all [the] elderly of Israel.
5 त्यसपछि अब्शालोमले भने, “अरकी हूशैलाई पनि बोलाऊ र उनले के भन्छन् हामी सुनौं ।”
And Absalom says, “Now call for Hushai the Archite also, and we hear what [is] in his mouth—even he.”
6 जब हूशै अब्बशालोमकहाँ आए, अब्बशालोमले उनलाई अहीतोपेलले भनेका सबै कुरा बताइदिए र हूशैलाई सोधे, “के हामीले अहीतोपेलले भनेका कुरा गरौं? होइन भने, हामीलाई तपाईंको सल्लाह भन्नुहोस् ।”
And Hushai comes to Absalom, and Absalom speaks to him, saying, “According to this word Ahithophel has spoken; do we do his word? If not, you—speak.”
7 त्यसैले हूशैले अब्शालोमलाई भने, “अहीतोपेलले दिएका सल्लाह यस पटक ठिक छैन ।”
And Hushai says to Absalom, “The counsel that Ahithophel has counseled [is] not good at this time.”
8 हूशैले थपे, “तपाईंले आफ्नो बुबालाई चिन्नुहुन्छ र उहाँका मानिसहरू बलिया योद्धाहरू छन्, तिनीहरू तितो छन्, र तिनीहरू मैदानका बच्चा खोसिएका भालुहरूजस्ता छन् । तपाईंको बुबा एक योद्धा हुनुहुन्छ । उहाँ आज फौजसँग सुत्नुहुने छैन ।
And Hushai says, “You have known your father and his men, that they [are] heroes, and they are bitter in soul as a bereaved bear in a field, and your father [is] a man of war, and does not lodge with the people;
9 हेर्नुहोस्, यति बेला उहाँ सायद कुनै खाडल वा अर्कै ठाउँमा लुकिरहनुभएको छ । आक्रमणको सुरुमा नै तपाईंका केही मानिसहरू मारिए भने सुन्ने जोसकैले भन्ने छन्, 'अब्शालोमसँग हुनेहरू माझ नरसंहार भएको छ ।'
behold, now, he is hidden in one of the pits, or in one of the places, and it has been at the falling among them at the commencement, that the hearer has heard and said, There has been a slaughter among the people who [are] after Absalom;
10 त्यसपछि सिंहको जस्तो हृदय हुने सबैभन्दा सिपाही पनि भयभीत हुने छ, किनभने तपाईंको बुबा वीर योद्धा हुनुहुन्छ भनी सारा इस्राएलले जान्दछ र उहाँसँग भएका मानिसहरू धेरै बलिया छन् ।
and he also, the son of valor, whose heart [is] as the heart of the lion, utterly melts, for all Israel knows that your father is a hero, and those with him [are] sons of valor.
11 त्यसैले दानदेखि बेर्शेबासम्मका सबै इस्राएल तपाईंकहाँ भेला भएर समुद्रको बालुवा जत्तिकै असंख्या हुनुपर्छ र तपाईं स्वयम् युद्ध गर्न जानुपर्छ भन्ने सल्लाह म तपाईंलाई दिन्छु ।
So that I have counseled: let all Israel be diligently gathered to you, from Dan even to Beer-Sheba, as the sand that [is] by the sea for multitude, and you yourself are going in the midst;
12 त्यसपछि हामीले उनलाई जहाँ भेट्टाए पनि उनमाथि जाइलाग्ने छौं र जमिनमा शीत परेझैं हामीले उनलाई छोप्ने छौं । हामीले उनका मानिसहरू वा उनी स्वयम् एउटालाई पनि जीवित छोड्ने छेनौं ।
and we have come to him in one of the places where he is found, and we [are] on him as the dew falls on the ground, and there has not been left of him and of all the men who [are] with him even one.
13 उनी सहरमा शरण लिन्छन् भने, त्यस सहरमा सारा इस्राएलले डोरी ल्याउने छन् र त्यहाँ एउटा सानो ढुङ्गा पनि नभेटिने गरी त्यसलाई हामी घिसारेर नदीमा झार्ने छौं ।”
And if he is gathered to a city, then they have caused all Israel to carry ropes to that city, and we have drawn it to the brook until there has not even been found a stone there.”
14 अनि अब्बशालोम र इस्राएलका मानिसले भने, “आरकी हूशैको सल्लाह अहीतोपेलको सल्लाहभन्दा राम्रो छ ।” परमप्रभुले अब्शालोममाथि विनाश ल्याउनको निम्ति अहीतोपेलको सल्लाह इन्कार गर्ने निश्चय गर्नुभएको थियो ।
And Absalom says—and all the men of Israel, “The counsel of Hushai the Archite [is] better than the counsel of Ahithophel”; and YHWH willed to make void the good counsel of Ahithophel for the sake of YHWH’s bringing the calamity to Absalom.
15 तब हूशैले सादोक र अबियाथार पुजारीहरूलाई भने, “अहीतोपेलले अब्शालोम र इस्राएलका धर्म-गुरुहरूलाई यस्तो-यस्तो सल्लाह दिए, तर मैले अरू नै सल्लाह दिएको छु ।
And Hushai says to Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, “Thus and thus Ahithophel has counseled Absalom and the elderly of Israel, and thus and thus I have counseled;
16 अब चाँडो जाओ र दाऊदलाई खबर गर । उनलाई भन, 'आज राती आराबाको जाँघरहरूमा छाउनी नलगाउनुहोस्, तर कुनै पनि उपायले पारि तर्नुहोस्, नत्र राजाका अनि उहाँको साथमा भएका सबै मानिस समेत नाश पारिने छन्' ।”
and now, send quickly, and declare [it] to David, saying, Do not lodge in the plains of the wilderness tonight, and also, certainly pass over, lest there is a swallowing up of the king and of all the people who are with him.”
17 यति बेला जोनाथन र अहीमास एन-रोगेलको पानीको मूलमा पर्खिरहेका थिए । तिनीहरूले जान्नुपर्ने कुरा एक जना दासी गएर तिनीहरूलाई खबर गर्थिन्, किनकि तिनीहरू सहरभित्र गएर देखिने जोखिममा पर्न सक्दैनथे । जब खबर आउँथ्यो, तब तिनीहरू गएर राजालाई भन्थे ।
And Jonathan and Ahimaaz are standing at En-Rogel, and the maidservant has gone and declared [it] to them—and they go and have declared [it] to King David—for they are not able to be seen to go into the city.
18 तर योपल्ट एक जना जवान मानिसले तिनीहरूलाई देख्यो र अब्बशालोमलाई बतायो । त्यसैले जोनाथन र अहीमास तुरुन्तै गए र बहूरिममा एक जना मानिसको घरमा आए जसको आँगनमा एउटा इनार थियो, जसभित्र तिनीहरू पसे ।
And a youth sees them, and declares [it] to Absalom; and both of them go on quickly, and come to the house of a man in Bahurim, and he has a well in his court, and they go down there,
19 ती मानिसकी पत्नीले त्यो इनारको ढकनी ल्याइन् र इनारको मुख ढाकिन् अनि त्यसमाथि बिस्कुन सुकाइन्, त्यसैले इनारमा जोनाथन र अहीमास थिए भनेर कसैले थाहा पाएनन् ।
and the woman takes and spreads the covering over the face of the well, and spreads the ground grain on it, and the thing has not been known.
20 अब्शालोमका मानिसहरू त्यो घरकी स्त्रीकहाँ आए र भने, “अहीमास र जोनाथन कहाँ छन्?” ती स्त्रीले भनिन्, “तिनीहरू नदी तरेर गाइसके ।” त्यसैले तिनीहरूले वरिपरि हेरे र तिनीहरूलाई भेट्टउन सकेनन्, तब तिनीहरू यरूशलेम फर्के ।
And the servants of Absalom come to the woman at the house, and say, “Where [are] Ahimaaz and Jonathan?” And the woman says to them, “They passed over the brook of water”; and they seek, and have not found, and return to Jerusalem.
21 तिनीहरू गएपछि जोनाथन र अहीमास इनारबाट बाहिर निस्के । उनीहरू दाऊद राजालाई खबर दिन गए । तिनीहरूले उनलाई भने, “उठ्नुहोस् चाँडो नदी तर्नुहोस, किनभने अहीतोपेलले तपाईंको बारेमा यस्तो-यस्तो सल्लाह दिएका छन् ।”
And it comes to pass, after their going on, that they come up out of the well, and go and declare [it] to King David, and say to David, “Rise, and pass over the waters quickly, for thus has Ahithophel counseled against you.”
22 त्यसपछि दाऊद र तिनीसँग भएका सबै मानिस उठे र तिनीहरूले यर्दन नदी तरे । बिहान उज्यालो हुँदासम्मा तीमध्ये यर्दन तर्न बाँकी कोही पनि थिएन ।
And David rises, and all the people who [are] with him, and they pass over the Jordan, until the morning light, until not one has been lacking who has not passed over the Jordan.
23 जब अहीतोपेलले आफ्नो सल्लाहको अनुसरण नभएको देखे, उनले आफ्नो गधामा जीन-लगाम कसे र विदा भए । उनी आफ्नो सहरमा भएको घरमा गए, आफ्ना सबै कुरा मिलाए र आफूलाई झुण्डाए । यसरी उनी मरे र आफ्नै बुबाको चिहानमा गाडिए ।
And Ahithophel has seen that his counsel was not done, and he saddles the donkey, and rises and goes to his house, to his city, and gives charge to his household, and strangles himself, and dies, and he is buried in the burying-place of his father.
24 त्यसपछि दाऊद महनोममा आए । अब्शालोमचाहीं र आफूसित भएका इस्राएलका सबै मानिसलाई लिएर यर्दन नदी तरे ।
And David came to Mahanaim, and Absalom passed over the Jordan, he and all the men of Israel with him;
25 अब्बशालोमले योआबको सट्टामा अमासालाई फौजका कमाण्डर बनाएका थिए । अमासा इश्माएली येतेरका छोरा थिए, जो अबीगेलसँग सुते जो नाहाशकी छोरी र योआबकी आमा सरूयाहकी बहिनी थिइ ।
and Absalom has set Amasa over the host instead of Joab, and Amasa [is] a man’s son whose name is Ithra the Israeli who has gone in to Abigail, daughter of Nahash, sister of Zeruiah, mother of Joab;
26 तब इस्राएल र अब्बशालोमले गिलादको जमिनमा छाउनी हाले ।
and Israel encamps with Absalom [in] the land of Gilead.
27 जब दाऊद महनोममा आएका थिए, अम्मोनीहरूको रब्बाका नाहाशका छोरा शोबी अनि लो-देबारका अम्मीएलको छोरा माकीर र रोगेलिमबाट आएका गिलादी बर्जिल्लैले
And it comes to pass at the coming in of David to Mahanaim, that Shobi son of Nahash, from Rabbah of the sons of Ammon, and Machir son of Ammiel, from Behold-Debar, and Barzillai the Gileadite, from Rogelim,
28 सुत्ने ओछ्यान र ओड्ने कम्बलहरू, भाँडाहरू, जौको पिठो भुटेको अन्न, सिमी, दाल
[have brought] bed, and basin, and earthen vessel, and wheat, and barley, and flour, and roasted [grain], and beans, and lentiles, and roasted [pulse],
29 मह, नौनी, भेडा र दही ल्याए, ताकि दाऊद र तिनीसँग भएका मसनिहरूले खान सकुन् । यी मानिसले भनेका थिए, “मानिसहरू उजाडस्थानमा भोकाएका, थकित, र तिर्खाएका छन् ।”
and honey, and butter, and sheep, and cheese of cows; they have brought [these] near for David, and for the people who [are] with him to eat, for they said, “Your people [are] hungry, and weary, and thirsty, in the wilderness.”
