२ राजाहरू 18

1 इस्राएलका राजा एलाहका छोरा होशियाको तेस्रो वर्षमा यहूदाका राजा आहाजका छोरा हिजकियाले राज्‍य गर्ने सुरु गरे ।

Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.

2 तिनले राज्‍य गर्न सुरु गर्दा तिनी पच्‍चिस वर्षका थिए । तिनले यरूशलेममा उनन्तिस वर्ष राज्य गरे । तिनकी आमाको नाउँ अबिया थियो । तिनी जकरियाकी छोरी थिइन् ।

Twenty and five years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Abi the daughter of Zechariah.

3 आफ्ना पुर्खा दाऊदले गरेका सबै उदाहरणको अनुसरण गरेर परमप्रभुको दृष्‍टिमा जे ठिक थियो तिनले त्यही गरे ।

And he did that which was right hi the eyes of the LORD, according to all that David his father had done.

4 तिनले उच्‍च ठाउँहरू हटाए, ढुङ्गाका खम्बाहरू नष्‍ट पारे र अशेरा स्‍ताम्‍भहरू टुक्राटुक्रा पारिदिए । तिनले मोशाद्वारा निर्मित काँसाको सर्पलाई टुक्राटुक्रा पारे किनकि ती दिनमा इस्राएलका मानिसहरूले यसमा धूप बालिरहेका थिए । यसलाई, “नहूश्तान” भनिन्थ्यो ।

He removed the high places, and brake the pillars, and cut down the Asherah: And he brake in pieces the brasen serpent that Moses had made; for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it; and he called it Nehushtan.

5 इस्राएलका परमप्रभु परमेश्‍वरमा हिजकियाको यस्‍तो विश्‍वास थियो ताकि यहूदाका सबै राजाहरूका माझमा तिनीभन्दा पछि कोही पनि तिनीजस्तो थिएन, न त तिनीभन्‍दा पहिलेका राजाहरूका माझमा नै कोही थियो ।

He trusted in the LORD, the God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor [among them] that were before him.

6 किनकि तिनी परमप्रभुमा लागिरहे । तिनले उहाँको अनुसरण गर्न छोडेनन् तर परमप्रभुले मोशालाई दिनुभएका उहाँका आज्ञाहरू तिनले पालन गरे ।

For he clave to the LORD, he departed not from following him, but kept his commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses.

7 त्यसैले परमप्रभु हिजकियासित हुनुभयो, र तिनी जहाँ गए तापनि तिनको उन्‍नति भयो । अश्शूरका राजाको विरुद्धमा तिनी बागी भए र उनको सेवा गरेनन् ।

And the LORD was with him; whithersoever he went forth he prospered: and he rebelled against the king of Assyria, and served him not.

8 पलिश्तीहरूको देश गाजा र पहरेदार बस्‍ने धरहरादेखि किल्लाबन्‍दी गरिएको सहरसम्म त्यसको वरिपरिका सिमानाहरू तिनले जिते ।

He smote the Philistines unto Gaza and the borders thereof, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.

9 राजा हिजकियाको चौथो वर्ष, जुन इस्राएलका राजा एलाहका छोरा होशियाको सातौँ वर्षमा, अश्शूरका राजा शलमनेशेर सामरियाको विरुद्धमा आए र त्‍यसलाई घेरा हाले ।

And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria, and besieged it.

10 तिन वर्षको अन्त्यमा अर्थात् हिजकियाको छैटौँ वर्षमा, जुन इस्राएलका राजा होशियाको नवौँ वर्षमा, तिनीहरूले त्‍यसलाई कब्जा गरे । यसरी सामरियालाई कब्जा गरियो ।

And at the end of three years they took it: even in the sixth year of Hezekiah, which was the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken.

11 यसरी अश्शूरका राजाले इस्राएलीहरूलाई बन्दी बनाएर अश्शूरमा लगे, र तिनीहरूलाई हलहमा, गोजानको हाबोर नदीको किनारमा र मादीहरूका सहरहरूमा बसाले ।

And the king of Assyria carried Israel away unto Assyria, and put them in Halah, and in Habor, [on] the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes:

12 तिनीहरूले परमप्रभु आफ्‍ना परमेश्‍वरको आवाज नसुनेको तर परमप्रभुका दास मोशाले दिएका उहाँको करारका सबै आज्ञालाई उल्लङ्घन गरेका हुनाले उहाँले यसो गर्नुभयो । तिनीहरूले त्‍यसलाई सुन्‍न र पालन गर्न इन्कार गरे ।

because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD their God, but transgressed his covenant, even all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded, and would not hear it, nor do it.

13 तब राजा हिजकियाको चौधौँ वर्षमा अश्शूरका राजा सनहेरीबले यहूदाका किल्लाबन्दी गरिएका सबै सहरहरूमा आक्रमण गरे र तिनलाई कब्जा गरे ।

Now in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah did Sennacherib king of Assyria come up against all the fenced cities of Judah, and took them.

14 त्यसैले यहूदाका राजा हिजकियाले लाकीशमा बसिरहेका अश्शूरका राजालाई यसो भनेर समाचार पठाए, “मैले तपाईंलाई चोट पुर्‍याएको छु । मबाट पछि हट्नुहोस् । तपाईंले ममाथि जस्तो भारी बोकाउनुहुन्छ, म बोक्‍नेछु ।” अश्शूरका राजाले यहूदाका राजा हिजकियाबाट दस टन चाँदी र एक टन सुन माग गरे ।

And Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria to Lachish, saying, I have offended; return from me: that which thou puttest on me will I bear. And the king of Assyria appointed unto Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.

15 त्यसैले हिजकियाले परमप्रभुको मन्दिर र राजदरबारका भण्डारहरूमा पइएका सबै चाँदी दिए ।

And Hezekiah gave [him] all the silver that was found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king’s house.

16 त्यसपछि हिजकियाले परमप्रभुको मन्दिरका ढोकाहरू र तिनले सुनको जलप लगाएका खम्बाहरूबाट सुन काटेर निकाले । तिनले उक्‍त सुन अश्शूरका राजालाई दिए ।

At that time did Hezekiah cut off [the gold from] the doors of the temple of the LORD, and [from] the pillars which Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.

17 तर अश्शूरका राजाले तार्तान र रबसरिस अनि आफ्ना प्रधान सेनापतिलाई एउटा ठुलो सेनाको साथमा लाकीशबाट यरूशलेममा राजा हिजकियाकहाँ पठाए । तिनीहरू बाटोमा यात्रा गरे र यरूशलेम बाहिर आइपुगे । तिनीहरू धोबीको खेतमा जाने माथिल्लो पोखरीको कुलोनेरको बाटोमा आए र त्‍यहाँ रोकिए ।

And the king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rab-saris and Rabshakeh from Lachish to king Hezekiah with a great army unto Jerusalem. And they went up and came to Jerusalem. And when they were come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is in the highway of the fuller’s field.

18 जब तिनीहरूले राजा हिजकियालाई बोलाएका थिए, तब, राजदरबारका निरिक्षक हिल्कियाहका छोरा एल्याकीम, र सचिव शेब्ना अनि लेखापाल आसापका छोरा योआ तिनीहरूलाई भेट्न गए ।

And when they had called to the king, there came out to them Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebnah the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder.

19 त्‍यसैले ती प्रधान सेनापतिले अश्शूरका सम्राट महाराजाले हिजकियालाई के भनेका थिए त्‍यो भनिदिन भने, “तिम्रो दृढताको स्रोत के हो?

And Rabshakeh said unto them, Say ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?

20 युद्धका गर्न मित्रहरू र शक्ति छन् भनेर तिमी व्‍यर्थका कुरा मात्र बोल्छौ । तिमीले कसमाथि भरोसा गरिरहेका छौ जसको कारणले तिमीले मेरो विरुद्धमा विद्रोह गर्नुपर्‍यो?

Thou sayest, but they are but vain words, [There is] counsel and strength for the war. Now on whom dost thou trust, that thou hast rebelled against me?

21 हेर, मिश्रदेशको यो चिरा परेको निगालोको टेक्‍ने लौरोमा तिमी भरोसा गर्छौ, तर कुनै मानिसले यसमा शिर अडायो भने, यो त्यसको हातैमा टाँसिन्‍छ र त्यसलाई छेडिदिन्‍छ । आफूमाथि भरोसा गर्ने हरेकको निम्‍ति मिश्रदेशका राजा फारो त्यस्तै हो ।

Now, behold, thou trustest upon the staff of this bruised reed, even upon Egypt; whereon if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt unto all that trust on him.

22 तर तिमी मलाई भन्‍छौ, 'हामी परमप्रभु हाम्रा परमेश्‍वरमाथि भर पर्छौं,' भने, के उहाँ नै होइन जसका उच्‍च ठाउँहरू र वेदीहरू हिजकियाले हटाइदिए, अनि यहूदा र यरूशलेमलाई भनेका छन्, 'तिमीहरूले यरूशलेममा यस वेदीको सामु आराधना गर्नुपर्छ'?

But if ye say unto me, We trust in the LORD our God: is not that he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and hath said to Judah and to Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?

23 त्यसकारण अब मेरा मालिक अश्शूरका राजाबाट म तपाईंलाई राम्रो प्रस्ताव राख्‍न चाहन्छु । तपाईंले घोडचढीहरू पाउनुभयो भने, म तपाईंलाई दुई हजार घोडाहरू दिनेछु ।

Now therefore, I pray thee, give pledges to my master the king of Assyria, and I will give thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them.

24 मेरा मालिकका सेवकहरूमध्ये सबैभन्दा तल्लो एउटा कप्‍तानको पनि तपाईं कसरी विरोध गर्न सक्‍नुहुन्छ? तपाईंले रथहरू र घोडचढीहरूको लागि मिश्रदेशमा भरोसा गर्नुगर्नुपर्छ ।

How then canst thou turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master’s servants, and put thy trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?

25 के परमप्रभुविना यस ठाउँको विरुद्धमा लडाइँ गर्न र यसलाई नाश गर्न म आएको हुँ र? परमप्रभुले मलाई भन्‍नुभयो, “यस देशलाई आक्रमण गर र नाश गर ।”

Am I now come up without the LORD against this place to destroy it? The LORD said unto me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.

26 तब हिल्कियाहका छोरा एल्याकीम, शेब्ना र योआले प्रधान सेनापतिलाई भने, “कृपा गरी तपाईंका दासहरूसित आरमेइक भाषामा बोल्नुहोस् किनकि हामी त्‍यो बुझ्छौँ । कृपया पर्खालमा खडा भएका मानिसहरूले सुन्‍ने गरी हामीसित यहूदाका भाषामा नबोल्नुहोस् ।”

Then said Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, and Shebnah, and Joah, unto Rabshakeh, Speak, I pray thee, to thy servants in the Syrian language; for we understand it: and speak not with us in the Jews’ language, in the ears of the people that are on the wall.

27 तर प्रधान सेनापतिले तिनीहरूलाई भने, “के मेरा मालिकले तिमीहरूका मालिक र तिमीहरूलाई मात्र यो कुरा भन्‍नलाई मलाई पठाउनुभएको हो र? के पर्खालमा बस्‍ने यी मानिसहरूलाई पनि होइन र, जसले तिमीहरूसँगै तिनीहरूका आफ्नै दिसा र पिसाब खानुपर्नेछ?”

But Rabshakeh said unto them, Hath my master sent me to thy master, and to thee, to speak these words? [hath he not sent me] to the men which sit on the wall, to eat their own dung, and to drink their own water with you?

28 तब प्रधान सेनापति खडा भएर तिनले यहूदीहरूको भाषामा चर्को सोरमा यसो भने, “अश्शूरका सम्राट, महाराजाको कुरा सुन ।

Then Rabshakeh stood, and cried with a loud voice in the Jews’ language, and spake, saying, Hear ye the word of the great king, the king of Assyria.

29 राजा भन्‍नुहुन्छ, 'हिजकियाले तिमीहरूलाई धोका नदिओस् किनकि उसले तिमीहरूलाई मेरो शक्तिबाट छुटकारा दिन सक्‍ने छैनन् ।

Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you; for he shall not be able to deliver you out of his hand:

30 हिजकियाले तिमीहरूलाई यसो भन्दै परमप्रभुमाथि भरोस गर्न नलगाओस्, 'निश्‍चय नै परमप्रभुले हामीलाई छुटकारा दिनुहुनेछ, र यो सहर अश्शूरका राजाको हातमा पर्नेछैन ।'

neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.

31 हिजकियाको कुरा नसुन, किनकि अश्शूरका राजा यसो भन्‍नुहुन्छ, 'मसित सम्झौता गर र मकहाँ आओ । तब तिमीहरू हरेकले आफ्नै दाखबारी र भद्राक्षाको बोटबाट खान पाउने छ, र आफ्नै कुवाको पानी पिउन पाउनेछ ।

Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, Make your peace with me, and come out to me; and eat ye every one of his vine, and every one of his fig tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his own cistern;

32 अनाज र नयाँ दाखमद्य, अन्‍न र दाखबारी, भद्राक्षका रुखहरू र मह भएको देश अर्थात् तिमीहरूको आफ्नै देशजस्तो एउटा देशमा मैले तिमीहरूलाई नलगेसम्म तिमीहरूले यसो गर्नेछौ, ताकि तिमीहरू बाँच्‍नेछौ र मर्नेछैनौ ‘परमप्रभुले हामीलाई छुटकारा दिनुहुनेछ’ भनी हिजकियाले तिमीहरूलाई फकाउन खोज्दा कुरा उसको नसुन ।

Until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of oil olive and of honey, that ye may live, and not die: and hearken not unto Hezekiah, when he persuadeth you, saying, The LORD will deliver us.

33 के कुनै जातिका देवताहरूले तिनीहरूलाई अश्शूरका राजाको हातबाट छुटकारा दिएका छन् र?

Hath any of the gods of the nations ever delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?

34 हमात र अर्पादका देवताहरू कहाँ छन्? सपर्बेम, हेना र हेना र इव्वाका देवताहरू कहाँ छन्? के तिनीहरूले सामरियालाई मेरो हातबाट छुटकारा दिएका छन्?

Where are the gods of Hamath, and of Arpad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim, of Hena, and Ivvah? have they delivered Samaria out of my hand?

35 देशहरूका सबै देवतामध्ये के कुनै देवताले मेरो शक्तिबाट आफ्‍नो देशलाई छुटकारा दिएको छ र? कसरी परमप्रभुले मेरो शक्तिबाट यरूशलेमलाई छुटकारा दिन सक्छ र?”

Who are they among all the gods of the countries, that have delivered their country out of my hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?

36 तर मानिसहरू मौन रहे र जवाफ दिएनन् किनकि राजाले आज्ञा दिएका थिए, “तिनलाई जवाफ नदिनू ।”

But the people held their peace, and answered him not a word: for the king’s commandment was, saying, Answer him not.

37 तब राजदरबारका निरिक्षक हिल्कियाहका छोरा एल्याकीम, सचिव शेब्ना र लेखापाल आसापका छोरा योआले आ-आफ्ना लुगा च्यातेर हिजकियाकहाँ आए, र प्रधान सेनापतिले भनेका कुराहरू तिनलाई बताइदिए ।

Then came Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder, to Hezekiah, with their clothes rent, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.
