1 आहाजले राज्य गर्न सुरु गर्दा तिनी बिस वर्षका थिए, र तिनले यरूशलेममा सोह्र वर्ष राज्‍य गरे । तिनले आफ्‍ना पुर्खा दाऊदले गरेझैं परमप्रभुको दृष्‍टिमा जे असल थियो सो गरेनन्‌ ।

Achaz was five and twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: and he did not that which was right in the sight of the Lord, as David his father.

2 बरू, तिनी पनि इस्राएलका राजाहरूका चालमा हिंडे । तिनले बाल देवताहरूका निम्‍ति ढलौटे मूर्तिहरू बनाए ।

But he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, for he made graven images.

3 यसको साथै तिनले बेन-हिन्‍नोमको बेसीमा बलिदानहरू पनि चढाए र इस्राएलको सामुन्‍नेबाट परमप्रभुले देशबाट निकाल्‍नुभएको मानिसहरूका मूर्ति पुजाका घिनलाग्‍दा चालमा हिंडेर तिनले आफ्‍ना छोराछोरीलाई आगोबाट हिंड्न लगाए ।

And [he sacrificed] to their idols in the valley of Benennom, and passed his children through the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom the Lord cast out from before the children of Israel.

4 तिनले अल्‍गा ठाउँहरू र डाँडाका टाकुराहरू र हरेक हरिया रुखमुनि बलिदानहरू चढाए र धूप बाले ।

And he burnt incense upon the high places, and upon the roofs, and under every shady tree.

5 यसकारण परमप्रभु आहाजका परमेश्‍वरले तिनलाई अरामका राजाको हातमा सुम्पिदिनुभयो । अरामीहरूले तिनलाई परास्‍त गरे र तिनका मानिसमध्‍ये धेरै जनालाई कैद गरेर दमस्‍कसमा लगे । आहाज इस्राएलका राजाको हातमा पनि परे, र ती राजाले तिनलाई ठुलो संहारका साथ पराजित गरे ।

And the Lord his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria; and he struck him, and took captive of them a great band of prisoners, and carried him to Damascus. Also [God] delivered him into the hands of the king of Israel, who struck him with a great slaughter.

6 रमल्‍याहका छोरा पेकहले एकै दिनमा यहूदाका एक लाख बिस हजार सिपाहीलाई मारे, र ती सबै जना शक्तिशाली योद्धा थिए, किनभने तिनीहरूले परमप्रभु आफ्‍ना पुर्खाहरूका परमेश्‍वरलाई त्‍यागेका थिए ।

And Phakee the son of Romelias king of Israel, killed in Juda in one day a hundred and twenty thousand mighty men; because they had forsaken the Lord God of their fathers.

7 जिक्री नामको एक जना वीर एफ्राइमीले राजाका छोरा मासेयाह र राजाका महलका रेखदेख गर्ने अधिकारी अज्रीकाम र राजापछिका मुख्‍य व्यक्ति एल्‍कानालाई मारे ।

And Zechri, a mighty man of Ephraim, killed Maasias the king's son, and Ezrican the chief of his house, and Elcana the king's deputy.

8 तिनीहरूका आफन्तबाट दुई लाख पत्‍नीहरू, छोराहरू र छोरीहरूलाई इस्राएलका फौजले कैद गरेर लगे । तिनीहरूले धेरै लूटका मालहरू पनि लगे, जुन तिनीहरूले सामरियामा ल्‍याए ।

And the children of Israel took captive of their brethren three hundred thousand, women, and sons, and daughters, and they spoiled them of much property, and brought the spoils to Samaria.

9 तर त्‍यहाँ ओदेद नामका परमप्रभुका एक अगमवक्ता थिए । तिनी सामरियामा फर्किरहेको फौजलाई भेट्न गए । तिनले तिनीहरूलाई भने, “परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका पुर्खाहरूका परमेश्‍वर यहूदासँग रिसाउनुभएको हुनाले तिनीहरूलाई तिमीहरूका हातमा उहाँले सुम्‍पिदिनुभयो । तर तिमीहरूले चाहिं रीसमा तिनीहरूको संहार गर्‍यौ, जो स्वर्गसम्मै पुग्यो ।

And there was there a prophet of the Lord, his name [was] Oded: and he went out to meet the host that were coming to Samaria, and said to them, Behold, the wrath of the Lord God of your fathers [is] upon Juda, and he has delivered them into your hands, and you have slain them in wrath, and it has reached even to heaven.

10 अब तिमीहरू यहूदा र यरूशलेमका पुरुष र स्‍त्री दुवैलाई दास-दासी बनाउने इच्‍छा गर्छौ । तर त्‍यसो गर्दा के तिमीहरू पनि परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका परमेश्‍वरको सामु आफ्नो पापको दोषी हुँदैनौ?

And now you talk of keeping the children of Juda and Jerusalem for servants and handmaidens. Behold, am I not with you to testify for the Lord your God?

11 यसैले अब मेरा कुरा सुनः आफ्‍ना दाजुभाइबाट तिमीहरूले कैद गरेर ल्‍याएकाहरूलाई फर्काइदेओ, किनकि परमप्रभुको डरलाग्दो क्रोध तिमीहरूमाथि छ ।”

And now listen to me, and restore the prisoners of your brethren whom you have taken: for the fierce anger of the Lord [is] upon you.

12 तब एफ्राइमका कुनै अगुवाहरू, अर्थात्‌ येहोहानानका छोरा अजर्याह, मशिल्‍लेमोतका छोरा बेरेक्‍याह, शल्‍लूमका छोरा येहिजक्‍याह र हद्‌लैका छोरा अमासा युद्धबाट फर्केकाहरूको विरुद्धमा खडा भए ।

And the chiefs of the sons of Ephraim rose up, Udias the son of Joanas, and Barachias the son of Mosolamoth, and Ezekias the son of Sellem, and Amasias the son of Eldai, against those that came from the war,

13 तिनीहरूले उनीहरूलाई भने, “यी कैदीहरूलाई तिमीहरूले यहाँ ल्‍याउनुहुन्‍न, किनकि तिमीहरूले जे विचार गरिरहेका छौ त्‍यसले गर्दा हामीहरूमा परमप्रभुको विरुद्धमा पाप ल्याउनेछ, हाम्रा पाप र दोष थप्‍नेछ, किनकि हाम्रा दोषहरू ठुला छन् र इस्राएलको विरुद्धमा भयानक क्रोध आइपरेको छ ।”

and said to them, You shall not bring in hither the prisoners to us, for whereas sin against the Lord [is] upon us, you mean to add to our sins, and to our trespass: for our sin [is] great, and the fierce anger of the Lord [is] upon Israel.

14 यसकारण योद्धाहरूले कैदीहरू र लुटेका मालहरू अगुवाहरू र सबै समुदायका उपस्‍थितिमा छोडिदिए ।

So the warriors left the prisoners and the spoils before the princes and all the congregation.

15 नाम तोकेर जिम्‍मेवारी पाएका मानिसहरू खडा भए र कैदीहरूलाई लगेर लुटेका मालबाट सबै नाङ्गा मानिसहरूलाई लुगा दिए । तिनीहरूलाई लुगा लगाइदिए र तिनीहरूलाई र जुत्ता दिए । तिनीहरूले उनीहरूलाई खान र पानी दिए । तिनीहरूले उनीहरूका घाउहरूको उपचार गरिदिए र कमजोरहरूलाई गधामा चढाए । तिनीहरूले उनीहरूलाई यरीहोमा (खजूरका रुखहरूको सहरमा ) आफ्ना आफन्तहरूकहाँ लगे । त्‍यसपछि तिनीहरू सामरिया फर्के ।

And the men who were called by name rose up, and took hold of the prisoners, and clothed all the naked from the spoils, and gave them garments and shoes, and gave them [food] to eat, and [oil] to anoint themselves [with], and they helped also every one that was weak with asses, and placed them in Jericho, the city of palm-trees, with their brethren; and they returned to Samaria.

16 त्‍यस बेला राजा आहाजले अश्‍शूरका राजाकहाँ सहायताको निम्ति दूतहरू पठाए ।

At that time king Achaz sent to the king of Assyria to help him, and on this occasion,

17 किनकि एदोमीहरूले फेरि आक्रमण गर्ने आएका र यहूदालाई जितेर कैदी बनाएर लगेका थिए ।

because the Idumeans had attacked [him], and struck Juda, and taken a number of prisoners.

18 पलिश्‍तीहरूले पनि पहाड र यहूदाको मैदानका र नेगेवका सहरहरूमा आक्रमण गरे । उनीहरूले बेथशेमेश, अय्‍यालोन र गदेरोत, अनि सोखो, तिम्‍ना र गिम्‍जो, तिनका बस्‍तीहरू कब्‍जा गरे । तिनीहरूले ती ठाउँमा बसोबास गर्न गए ।

Also the Philistines had made an attack on the cities of the plain country, and the cities of the south of Juda, and taken Baethsamys, and [the things in the house of the Lord, and the things in the house of the king, and of the princes: and they gave to the king] Aelon, and Galero, and Socho and her villages, and Thamna and her villages, and Gamzo and her villages: and they lived there.

19 किनकि इस्राएलका राजा आहाजको कारणले परमप्रभुले यहूदालाई तल होच्‍याउनुभयो । किनकि यहूदामा तिनले दुष्‍टतापूर्वक काम गरेका थिए र परमप्रभुको विरुद्ध धेरै पाप गरेका थिए ।

For the Lord humbled Juda because of Achaz king of Juda, because he grievously departed from the Lord.

20 अश्‍शूरका राजा तिग्‍लत-पिलेसेर तिनीकहाँ आए र तिनलाई सहायता दिनुको साटोमा झन्‌ तिनलाई कष्‍ट दिए ।

And there came against him Thalgaphellasar king of Assyria, and he afflicted him.

21 किनकि आहाजले अश्‍शूरका राजालाई दिनको निम्ति परमप्रभुको मन्‍दिर, राजा र भारदारहरूका महलहरू लुटे । तर यसले तिनलाई केही फाइदा भएन ।

And Achaz took the things [that were] in the house of the Lord, and the things in the house of the king, and of the princes, and gave them to the king of Assyria: but he was no help to him,

22 तिनै राजा आहाजले आफ्‍नो कष्‍टको समयमा परमप्रभुको विरुद्ध झन्‌ धेरै पाप गरे ।

but only [troubled him] in his affliction: and he departed yet more from the Lord, and king Achaz said,

23 किनकि तिनले आफूलाई परास्‍त गर्ने दमस्‍कसका देवताहरूलाई बलिदान चढाए । तिनले भने, “अरामका राजाहरूका देवताहरूले उनीहरूलाई सहायता गरेका हुनाले म तिनीहरूलाई बलिदान चढाउनेछु, ताकि तिनीहरूले मलाई सहायता गरुन्‌ ।” तर तिनीहरू नै तिनको र सारा इस्राएलको पतनको कारण बने ।

I will seek after the gods of Damascus that strike me. And he said, Forasmuch as the gods of the king of Syria themselves strengthen them, therefore will I sacrifice to them, and they will help me. But they became a stumbling block to him, and to all Israel.

24 आहाजले परमप्रभुको मन्‍दिरका भाँडाकुँडाहरू जम्‍मा गरे र तिनलाई टुक्राटुक्रा बनाए । तिनले परमप्रभुको मन्‍दिरका ढोकाहरू पनि बन्‍द गरिदिए र तिनले यरूशलेमका हरेक कुनामा आफ्ना निम्ति वेदीहरू बनाए ।

And Achaz removed the vessels of the house of the Lord, and cut them in pieces, and shut the doors of the house of the Lord, and made to himself altars in every corner in Jerusalem:

25 यहूदाका हरेक सहरमा अरू देवतालाई बलिदान चढाउनका निम्‍ति डाँडाहरूका थानहरू बनाए । तिनले परमप्रभु आफ्‍ना पुर्खाहरूका परमेश्‍वरलाई क्रोधित तुल्‍याए ।

and in each several city in Juda he made high places to burn incense to strange gods: and they provoked the Lord God of their fathers.

26 तिनको राजकालका घटनाहरू सुरुदेखि अन्‍त्‍यसम्‍म यहूदा र इस्राएलका राजाहरूका पुस्‍तकमा लेखिएका छन्‌ ।

And the rest of his acts, and his deeds, the first and the last, behold, [they are] written in the book of the kings of Juda and Israel.

27 आहाज आफ्‍ना पुर्खारूसित सुते, र तिनीहरूले उनलाई यरूशलेम सहरमा गाडे, तर तिनीहरूले तिनलाई इस्राएलका राजाहरूका चिहानमा गाडेनन्‌ । तिनको ठाउँमा तिनका छोरा हिजकिया राजा भए ।

And Achaz slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David; for they did not bring him into the sepulchres of the kings of Israel: and Ezekias his son reigned in his stead.
