1 यहूदाका राजा यहोशापात सुरक्षासाथ यरूशलेमको आफ्नो दरवार फर्के ।
And Josaphat king of Juda returned to his house at Jerusalem.
2 तब हनानीका छोरा दर्शी येहू तिनलाई भेट्न आए र यहोशापात राजालाई भने, “के दुष्टलाई तपाईंले सहायता गर्नुपर्छ र? के परमप्रभुलाई घृणा गर्नेहरूलाई तपाईंले प्रेम गर्नुपर्छ र? यस कामको कारणले गर्दा परमप्रभुको क्रोध तपाईंमाथि परेको छ ।
And there went out to meet him Jeu the prophet the son of Anani, and said to him, King Josaphat, doest thou help a sinner, or act friendly towards one hated of the Lord? Therefore has wrath come upon thee from the Lord.
3 तापनि तपाईंमा केही असल कुरा छन्, किनभने तपाईंले अशेराका खम्बाहरूलाई देशबाट हटाउनुभएको छ, र तपाईंले आफ्नो हृदय परमप्रभुलाई खोज्नमा लाउनुभएको छ ।”
Nevertheless [some] good things have been found in thee, forasmuch as thou didst remove the groves from the land of Juda, and didst direct thine heart to seek after the Lord.
4 यहोशापातको यरूशलेममा बसे । अनि तिनी फेरि बेर्शेबादेखि एफ्राइमको पहाडी देशमा मानिसहरूका माझमा गए र तिनीहरूलाई परमप्रभु आफ्ना पुर्खाहरूका परमेश्वरकहाँ फर्काएर ल्याए ।
And Josaphat dwelt in Jerusalem: and he again went out among the people from Bersabee to the mount of Ephraim, and turned them back to the Lord God of their fathers.
5 यहूदाका किल्लाबन्दी गरिएका सबै सहरमा तिनले न्यायकर्ताहरू नियुक्त गरे ।
And he appointed judges in all the strong cities of Juda, city by city.
6 तिनले न्यायकर्ताहरूलाई भने, “तिमीहरूले गर्ने कुरामा ध्यान देओ, किनभने तिमीहरूले मानिसहरूका निम्ति होइन तर परमप्रभुको निम्ति फैसला गर्दछौ । फैसलाको क्रममा उहाँ नै तिमीहरूसँग हुनुहुन्छ ।
And he said to the judges, Take good heed what ye do: for ye judge not for man, but for the Lord, and with you are matters of judgment.
7 यसैले अब, परमप्रभुको भय तिमीहरूमा रहोस् । न्याय गर्दा होसियार होओ, किनकि परमप्रभु हाम्रा परमेश्वरमा अधर्म हुँदैन, नत उहाँमा पक्षपात र घूस लिने काम नै हुन्छ ।”
And now let the fear of the Lord be upon you, and be wary, and do [your duty]: for there is no unrighteousness with the Lord our God, neither [is it for him] to respect persons, nor take bribes.
8 यसबाहेक यहोशापातले यरूशलेममा केही लेवी र पुजारी, र इस्राएलका पुर्ख्यौली घरानाका केही अगुवाहरूलाई परमप्रभुको न्याय कायम राख्न र झगडाहरू मिलउन नियुक्त गरे । तिनीहरू यरूशलेममा बसे ।
Moreover Josaphat appointed in Jerusalem some of the priests, and Levites, and heads of houses of Israel, for the judgment of the Lord, and to judge the dwellers in Jerusalem.
9 तिनले उनीहरूलाई यसो भनेर निर्देशन दिए, “तिमीहरूले सधैँ परमेश्वरको भय राखेर विश्वाससित र आफ्ना सारा हृदयले काम गर्नुपर्छ ।
And he charged them, saying, Thus shall ye do in the fear of the Lord, in truth and with a perfect heart.
10 जब आफ्ना सहरमा बस्ने तिमीहरूका दाजुभाइबाट तिमीहरूका सामु कुनै पनि मुद्दा आउँछन्, चाहे ती रक्तपातसम्बन्धी होउन्, वा व्यवस्था र आज्ञा, विधिहरू वा आदेशहरूका विरुद्धमा होउन्, तिमीहरूले तिनीहरूलाई चेताउनी दिनू, ताकि तिनीहरू परमप्रभुको अगि दोषी नठहरिऊन्, नत्रता तिमीहरू र तिमीहरूका दाजुभाइमा क्रोध आइपर्ने छ । तिमीहरूले यसो गर्नू र तिमीहरू सबै दोषी ठहरिने छैनौ ।
Whatsoever man of your brethren that dwell in their cities [shall bring] the cause that comes before you, between blood [and] blood, and between precept and commandment, and ordinances and judgments, ye shall even decide for them; so they shall not sin against the Lord, and there shall not be wrath upon you, and upon your brethren: thus ye shall do, and ye shall not sin.
11 हेर, परमप्रभुका सबै विषयमा मुख्य पुजारी अमर्याह तिमीहरूमाथि छन् । राजा सम्बन्धमा सबै विषयमा यहूदाका घरानाका अगुवा इश्माएलका छोरा जबदियाह निरीक्षक छन् । साथै लेवीहरूले अधिकारीहरूका रूपमा तिमीहरूका सेवा गर्नेछन् । बलिया होओ र तिमीहरूलाई दिइएका निर्देशनहरू पालना गर, र असल गर्नेहरूका साथमा परमप्रभु रनुभएको होस् ।”
And, behold, Amarias the priest is head over you in every matter of the Lord; and Zabdias the son of Ismael is head over the house of Juda in every matter of the king; and the scribes and Levites are before you: be strong and active, and the Lord shall be with the good.
