१ शमूएल 8
1 जब शमूएल वृद्ध भए, तिनले आफ्ना दुई छोरालाई इस्राएलका न्यायकर्ताहरू बनाए ।
And it cometh to pass, when Samuel [is] aged, that he maketh his sons judges over Israel.
2 तिनको जेठा छोराको नाउँ योएल थियो र महिलोको नाउँ अबिया थियो । तिनीहरू बेर्शेबामा न्यायकर्ताहरू थिए ।
And the name of his first-born son is Joel, and the name of his second Abiah, judges in Beer-Sheba:
3 तिनका छोराहरू तिनका मार्गहरूमा हिंडेनन्, तर बेइमानपूर्ण लाभको पछि लागे । तिनीहरूले घूस लिए र न्यायलाई भ्रष्ट बनाए ।
and his sons have not walked in his ways, and turn aside after the dishonest gain, and take a bribe, and turn aside judgment.
4 त्यसपछि इस्राएलका सारा धर्म-गुरुहरू भेला भए र रामामा शमूएलकहाँ आए ।
And all the elders of Israel gather themselves together, and come in unto Samuel to Ramath,
5 उनीहरूले तिनलाई भने, “हेर्नुहोस्, तपाईं वृद्ध हुनुभयो, र तपाईंका छोराहरू तपाईंका मर्गहरूमा हिंड्दैनन् । सबै जातिझैं हाम्रो न्याय गर्न हाम्रा निम्ति एक जना राजा नियुक्त गर्नुहोस् ।”
and say unto him, 'Lo, thou hast become aged, and thy sons have not walked in thy ways; now, appoint to us a king, to judge us, like all the nations.'
6 तर त्यसले शमूएललाई दुःख लाग्यो, जब तिनीहरूले भने, “हाम्रो न्याय गर्न हामीलाई एक जना राजा दिनुहोस् ।” त्यसैले शमूएलले परमप्रभुसँग प्रार्थना गरे ।
And the thing is evil in the eyes of Samuel, when they have said, 'Give to us a king to judge us;' and Samuel prayeth unto Jehovah.
7 परमप्रभुले शमूएललाई भन्नुभयो, “मानिसहरूले तँलाई भनेका तिनीहरूका सबै कुरा पालन गर् । किनकि तिनीहरूले तँलाई इन्कार गरेका होइनन्, तर तिनीहरूमाथि राजा हुनबाट तिनीहरूले मलाई इन्कार गरेका छन् ।
And Jehovah saith unto Samuel, 'Hearken to the voice of the people, to all that they say unto thee, for thee they have not rejected, but Me they have rejected, from reigning over them.
8 तिनीहरूले मलाई त्यागेका र अरू देवताहरूको सेवा गरेर मैले तिनीहरूलाई मिश्रबाट ल्याएदेखि गरेजस्तै तिनीहरूले गरिरहेका छन्, र त्यसैले तिनीहरूले तँलाई पनि त्यसै गर्दैछन् ।
According to all the works that they have done from the day of My bringing them up out of Egypt, even unto this day, when they forsake Me, and serve other gods — so they are doing also to thee.
9 अब तिनीहरूको कुरा सुन । तर तिनीहरूलाई गम्भीरपूर्वक चेताउनी दे र राजाले जसरी तिनीहरूमाथि राज्य गर्नेछन्, त्यो तिनीहरूले राम्ररी जानून् ।”
And now, hearken to their voice; only, surely thou dost certainly protest to them, and hast declared to them the custom of the king who doth reign over them.'
10 त्यसैले शमूएलले राजाको माग गरिरहेका मानिसहरूलाई परमप्रभुका सबै वचन सुनाए ।
And Samuel speaketh all the words of Jehovah unto the people who are asking from him a king,
11 तिनले भने, “तिमीहरूमाथि राज्य गर्ने राजाको प्रचलन यस्तो हुनेछ । उनले तिमीहरूका छोराहरूलाई लानेछन् र आफ्ना रथहरूका निम्ति र घोडचढी हुनलाई र आफ्ना रथहरूको अगि-अगि दौडनलाई उनले तिनीहरूलाई नियुक्त गर्ने छन् ।
and saith, 'This is the custom of the king who doth reign over you: Your sons he doth take, and hath appointed for himself among his chariots, and among his horsemen, and they have run before his chariots;
12 उनले आफ्नो निम्ति हजारका कप्तानहरू र पचासका कप्तानहरू नियुक्त गर्नेछन् । कसैलाई आफ्नो जमिन जोत्न, कसैलाई आफ्नो अन्न कटानी गर्न र कसैलाई आफ्नो युद्धको हतियारहरू अनि आफ्ना रथहरूको सरसामान बनाउन लगाउनेछन् ।
also to appoint for himself heads of thousands, and heads of fifties; also to plow his plowing, and to reap his reaping; and to make instruments of his war, and instruments of his charioteer.
13 उनले तिमीहरूका छोरीहरूलाई अत्तर बनाउने, खाना बनाउने र रोटी बनाउने हुनलाई लिनेछन् ।
'And your daughters he doth take for perfumers, and for cooks, and for bakers;
14 उनले तिमीहरूका उत्तम खेतहरू, दाखबारीहरू र जैतूनका बगैंचाहरू लिनेछन् र ती आफ्ना सेवकहरूलाई दिनेछन् ।
and your fields, and your vineyards, and your olive-yards — the best — he doth take, and hath given to his servants.
15 उनले तिमीहरूका अन्नको र दाखबारीहरूको दशौं भाग लिनेछन् र आफ्ना अधिकारीहरू र आफ्ना सेवकहरूलाई दिनेछन् ।
And your seed and your vineyards he doth tithe, and hath given to his eunuchs, and to his servants.
16 उनले तिमीहरूका सेवक-सेविकाहरू, र तिमीहरूका उत्तम जवान पुरुषहरू तथा तिमीहरूका गधाहरू लिनेछन् । तिनीहरू सबैलाई उनले आफ्नो काममा लगाउनेछन् ।
And your men-servants, and your maid-servants, and your young men — the best, and your asses, he doth take, and hath prepared for his own work;
17 उनले तिमीहरूका बगालहरूको दशौं भाग लिनेछन्, र तिमीहरू उनका दासहरू हुनेछौ ।
your flock he doth tithe, and ye are to him for servants.
18 त्यसपछि त्यो दिन आफ्नो निम्ति छानेका तिमीहरूका राजाको कारणले तिमीहरूले पुकारा गर्नेछौ । तर परमप्रभुले त्यो दिनमा तिमीहरूलाई जवाफ दिनुहुनेछैन ।”
And ye have cried out in that day because of the king whom ye have chosen for yourselves, and Jehovah doth not answer you in that day.'
19 तर मानिसहरूले शमूएलको कुरा सुन्न इन्कार गरे । तिनीहरूले भने, “होइन, हामीमाथि एक जना राजा हुनैपर्छ ।
And the people refuse to hearken to the voice of Samuel, and say, 'Nay, but a king is over us,
20 ताकि हामी अरू जातिहरूजस्तै हुन सक्नेछौं, अनि यसरी हाम्रा राजाले हाम्रो न्याय गर्नेछन् र हाम्रो निम्ति युद्ध गर्न हाम्रो अगि-अगि जानेछन् ।”
and we have been, even we, like all the nations; and our king hath judged us, and gone out before us, and fought our battles.'
21 जब शमूएलले मानिसहरूको सबै कुरा सुने, तब तिनले ती परमप्रभुले सुन्ने गरी दोहोर्याए ।
And Samuel heareth all the words of the people, and speaketh them in the ears of Jehovah;
22 परमप्रभुले शमूएललाई भन्नुभयो, “तिनीहरूका कुरा पालन गर् र कसैलाई तिनीहरूका राजा बना ।” त्यसैले शमूएलले इस्राएलका मानिसहरूलाई भने, “हरेक मानिस आ-आफ्नो सहर जानुपर्छ ।”
and Jehovah saith unto Samuel, 'Hearken to their voice, and thou hast caused to reign over them a king.' And Samuel saith unto the men of Israel, 'Go ye each to his city.'
