१ शमूएल 2
1 हन्नाहले प्रार्थना गरिन् र यसो भनिन्, “परमप्रभुमा मेरो हृदय आनन्दित हुन्छ । परमप्रभुमा मेरो सीङ उच्च पारिन्छ । मेरो मुखले मेरा शत्रुहरूमाथि गर्भ गर्छ, किनभने म तपाईंको मुक्तिमा आनन्दित हुन्छु ।
And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart exulteth in Jehovah, my horn is lifted up in Jehovah; my mouth is opened wide over mine enemies; for I rejoice in thy salvation.
2 परमप्रभुझैं पवित्र कोही छैन, किनकि तपाईंबाहेक कोही पनि छैन । हाम्रो परमेश्वरजस्तो कुनै चट्टान छैन ।
There is none holy as Jehovah, for there is none beside thee, neither is there any rock like our God.
3 यति धैरै घमण्ड गरेर अहंकारी नहो । तेरो मुखबाट अहंकारका कुनै कुरा ननिस्कोस् । किनकि परमप्रभु ज्ञानका परमेश्वर हुनुहुन्छ । उहाँद्वारा नै कामहरू जोखिन्छन् ।
Do not multiply your words of pride, let not vain-glory come out of your mouth; For Jehovah is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.
4 शक्तिशाली मानिसहरूका धनुहरू भाँचिएका छन्, तर ठेस खाएकाहरूले शक्तिलाई कम्मर-पेटीझैं लगाउँछन् ।
The bow of the mighty is broken, and they that stumbled are girded with strength.
5 भरिपूर्ण हुनेहरूले आफैलाई ज्यालामा लगाएका छन् । भोकाएकाहरू भोकाउन हुन छोडेका छन् । बाँझीले समेत सात जना सन्तानहरू जन्माउँछिन्, तर धेरै सन्तान हुने स्त्री शिथिल हुन्छिन् ।
They that were full have hired themselves out for bread; and the hungry are [so] no more: Even the barren beareth seven, and she that hath many children is waxed feeble.
6 परमप्रभुले मार्नुहुन्छ र जीवन दिनुहुन्छ । उहाँले चिहानमा पुर्याउनुहुन्छ र उठाउनुहुन्छ । (Sheol h7585)
Jehovah killeth, and maketh alive; he bringeth down to Sheol, and bringeth up. (Sheol h7585)
7 परमप्रभुले केही मानिसलाई गरीब र केहीलाई धनी बनाउनुहुन्छ । उहाँले नम्र तुल्याउनुहुन्छ, तर उहाँले पनि उचाल्नुहुन्छ ।
Jehovah maketh poor, and maketh rich, he bringeth low, also he lifteth up:
8 उहाँले गरीबलाई धूलोबाट उठाउनुहुन्छ । खाँचोमा परेकाहरूलाई शासकहरूसँग बसाल्न र इज्जको ओहदा पाउने बनाउन उहाँले तिनीहरूलाई खरानीको थुप्रोबाट उठाउनुहुन्छ । किनकि पृथ्वीका जगहरू परमप्रभुका हुन् र उहाँले संसारलाई तिमाथि बसाल्नुभएको छ ।
He raiseth up the poor out of the dust; from the dung-hill he lifteth up the needy, To set [him] among nobles; and he maketh them inherit a throne of glory; For the pillars of the earth are Jehovah's, and he hath set the world upon them.
9 उहाँले आफ्ना विश्वासयोग्य मानिसहरूका पाउहरूको रक्षा गर्नुहुन्छ, दुष्टहरूलाई अन्धकारको शुन्यतामा राखिनेछ, किनकि बलद्वारा कसैले जित्न सक्नेछैन ।
He keepeth the feet of his saints, but the wicked are silenced in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.
10 परमप्रभुको विरोध गर्नेहरू टुक्रा-टुक्रा हुने छन् । तिनीहरूका विरुद्धमा उहाँ स्वर्गबाट गर्जनुहुनेछ । परमप्रभुले पृथ्वीको अन्तसम्म नै न्याय गर्नुहुनेछ । उहाँले आफ्नो राजालाई बल दिनुहुनेछ र आफ्नो अभिषिक्तको सीङ उच्च पार्नुहुनेछ ।
They that strive with Jehovah shall be broken to pieces; in the heavens will he thunder upon them. Jehovah will judge the ends of the earth; and he will give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed.
11 त्यसपछि एल्काना आफ्नो घर रामामा गए । त्यो बालकले पुजारी एलीको सामु परमप्रभुको सेवा गर्यो ।
And Elkanah went to Ramah to his house. And the boy ministered to Jehovah in the presence of Eli the priest.
12 यति बेलासम्म एलीका छोराहरू अयोग्य मानिहरू भएका थिए । तिनीहरूले परमप्रभुलाई चिनेनन् ।
Now the sons of Eli were sons of Belial; they knew not Jehovah.
13 मानिसहरूसँग पुजारीहरूको चलन यस्तो थियो, जब कुनै मानिसले बलिदान चढाउँथ्यो, तब पुजारीका सेवक मासु उमाल्दै गर्दा नै आफ्नो हातमा त्रिशूलसहित आउँथ्यो ।
And the priests' custom with the people was, when any man sacrificed a sacrifice, the priest's servant came, when the flesh was cooked, with a flesh-hook of three prongs in his hand;
14 उसले ताप्के वा कराही वा तसला वा भाँडोमा नै घोच्थ्यो । त्यो त्रिशूलमा आउने सबै पुजारीले आफ्नो निम्ति लान्थ्यो । तिनीहरूले शीलोमा आउने सबै इस्राएलीहरूसँग यसै गर्थे ।
and he struck it into the pan, or kettle, or cauldron, or pot; the priest took of it all that the flesh-hook brought up. So they did in Shiloh to all the Israelites that came there.
15 अझ नराम्रो त, तिनीहरूले बोसो जलाउनअगि नै पुजारीको सेवक आउँथ्यो र बलिदान गरिरहेका मानिसलाई भन्थ्यो, “पुजारीको निम्ति पोल्नलाई मासु देऊ, किनकि तिमीबाट उनले उमालेको मासु स्वीकार गर्नुहुन्न, तर काँचो मात्र लिनुहुन्छ ।”
Even before they burned the fat, the priest's servant came, and said to the man that sacrificed, Give flesh to roast for the priest, and he will not accept sodden flesh of thee, but raw.
16 त्यो मानिसले यसो भन्यो भने, “तिनीहरूले पहिले बोसो जलाउनुपर्छ, र तब तपाईंले इच्छा गरेजति लानुहोस् ।” तब उसले भन्थ्यो, “हुँदैन, तिमीले यो मलाई अहिले नै देऊ । होइन भने, मैले जबरजस्ती गरेर लानेछु ।”
If the man said to him, They will immediately burn the fat entire, then take as thy soul desires; he would say [to him], No, but thou shalt give [it] now; and if not, I will take [it] by force.
17 यी जवानहरूको पाप परमप्रभुको सामु निकै ठुलो थियो, किनकि तिनीहरूले परमप्रभुको बलिदानलाई तुच्छ ठाने ।
And the sin of the young men was very great before Jehovah, for men despised the offering of Jehovah.
18 तर शामूएलले बालकको रूपमा मलमलको एपोद लगाएर परमप्रभुको सेवा गरे ।
And Samuel ministered before Jehovah, a boy girded with a linen ephod.
19 तिनको आमाले आफ्नो पतिको साथमा वार्षिक बलिदान चढाउन आउँदा वर्षैपिच्छे तिनको निम्ति एउटा सानो लुगा बनाउँथिन् र तिनलाई ल्याइदिन्थिन् ।
And his mother made him a little coat, and brought it to him from year to year, when she came up with her husband to sacrifice the yearly sacrifice.
20 एलीले एल्काना र तिनकी पत्नीलाई यसरी आशिष् दिएर भन्थे, “यी स्त्रीले परमप्रभुसँग बिन्ती गरेकी कारणले परमप्रभुले यी स्त्रीद्वारा तिमीहरूलाई धेरै सन्तानहरू देऊन् ।” त्यसपछि तिनीहरू आफ्नो घरमा नै फर्कन्थे ।
And Eli blessed Elkanah and his wife, and said, Jehovah give thee seed of this woman for the loan which is lent to Jehovah. And they went to their own home.
21 परमप्रभुले हन्नाहलाई फेरि सहायता गर्नुभयो र तिनी फेरि गर्भवति भइन् । तिनले तिन छोराहरू र दुई छोरीहरू जन्माइन् । यसैबिच, बालक शमूएल परमप्रभुको सामु बढ्दै गए ।
So Jehovah visited Hannah, and she conceived, and bore three sons and two daughters. And the boy Samuel grew before Jehovah.
22 यति बेला एली निकै वृद्ध भए । तिनले आफ्ना छोराहरूले सबै इस्राएलसँग गरेका सबै कुरा र तिनीहरू भेट हुने पालको प्रवेशद्वारमा सेवा गर्ने स्त्रीहरूसँग कसरी सुते भन्ने कुरा सुने ।
And Eli was very old, and heard all that his sons were doing to all Israel, and that they lay with the women that served at the entrance of the tent of meeting.
23 तिनले उनीहरूलाई भने, “तिमीहरूले किन यस्ता कुराहरू गर्छौ? किनकि मैले तिमीहरूको दुष्ट कामहरू यी सबै मानिसहरूबाट सुन्दैछु ।”
And he said to them, Why do ye such things? for I hear of your evil deeds from all this people.
24 हुँदैन, ए मेरा छोराहरू हो । किनकि मैले सुनेको कुरा असल खबर होइन । तिमीहरूले परमप्रभुका मानिसहरूलाई अनाज्ञाकारी बनाउँछौ ।
No, my sons, for it is no good report that I hear: ye make Jehovah's people transgress.
25 “एक जना मानिसले अर्काको विरुद्ध पाप गर्यो भने, परमेश्वरले उसको न्याय गर्नुहुन्छ, तर मानिसले परमप्रभुको विरुद्ध पाप गर्छ भने, उसको निम्ति कसले बोलिदिन्छ?” तर तिनीहरूले आफ्ना बुबाको कुरा सुनेनन्, किनभने परमप्रभुले तिनीहरूलाई मार्ने इच्छा गर्नुभयो ।
If one man sin against another, God will judge him; but if a man sin against Jehovah, who shall intreat for him? But they hearkened not to the voice of their father, for Jehovah was minded to slay them.
26 बालक शमूएल बढ्दै गए, र परमप्रभु र मानिसहरूको निगाहमा हुर्किए ।
And the boy Samuel grew on, and was in favour both with Jehovah and also with men.
27 यति बेला परमेश्वरका एक जना मानिस एलीकहाँ आए र तिनलाई भने, “परमप्रभु भन्नुहुन्छ, 'तेरा पुर्खाहरू मिश्रदेशमा फारोको घरमा दासत्वमा हुँदा, के मैले तिनीहरूकहाँ आफूलाई प्रकट गरिन र?
And there came a man of God to Eli and said to him, Thus saith Jehovah: Did I plainly reveal myself to the house of thy father when they were in Egypt, in Pharaoh's house,
28 मेरो पुजारी हुन, मेरो वेदीमा जान, र धूप बाल्न र मेरो सामु एपोद लगाउनलाई मैले इस्राएलको सारा कुलहरूबाट उसलाई चुनें । मैले इस्राएलका मानिसहरूले आगोद्वारा चढाएका सबै बलिदानहरू तेरो पुर्खाको घरानालाई दिएँ ।
and choose him out of all the tribes of Israel, to be my priest, to offer upon mine altar, to burn incense, to wear the ephod before me? and I gave unto the house of thy father all the offerings by fire of the children of Israel.
29 तब किन मेरो बासस्थानमा मलाई आवश्यक मेरा बलिदानहरू र भेटीहरूलाई तैंले किन तुच्छ ठान्छस्? इस्राएलका मेरा मानिसहरूको हरेक बलिदानको उत्तम थोकद्वारा आफैलाई मोटो बनाएर तैंले आफ्ना छोराहरूलाई किन मलाई भन्दा बढी आदर गर्छस्?'
Wherefore do ye trample upon my sacrifice and upon mine oblation which I have commanded [in my] habitation? And thou honourest thy sons above me, to make yourselves fat with the primest of all the oblations of Israel my people.
30 किनकि परमप्रभु इस्राएलका परमेश्वर भन्नुहुन्छ, 'तेरो घराना र तेरो पुर्खाको घराना सदाको निम्ति मेरो सामु हिंड्नुपर्छ भनी मैले प्रतिज्ञा गरें ।' तर अब परमप्रभु भन्नुहुन्छ, 'यसो गर्ने कुरा मबाट टाढै रहोस्, किनकि मलाई आदर गर्नेलाई म आदर गर्छु, तर जसले मलाई तुच्छ ठान्छ उसको आदर घट्नेछ ।
Wherefore Jehovah the God of Israel saith, I said indeed, Thy house and the house of thy father should walk before me for ever. But now Jehovah saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.
31 हेर्, मैले तेरो बल र तेरो पिताको घरानाको बल नाश पार्ने समय आउँदैछ, ताकि तेरो घरानामा कोही वृद्ध मानिस हुनेछैन ।
Behold, days come, that I will cut off thine arm, and the arm of thy father's house, that there shall not be an old man in thy house.
32 मरो बासस्थानमा नै तैले संकष्ट देख्नेछस् । इस्राएललाई असल कुरा दिइए तापनि, तेरो घरानामा कोही वृद्ध मानिस हुनेछैन ।
And thou shalt see an oppressor [in my] habitation, amidst all the good that shall be done to Israel; and there shall not be an old man in thy house for ever.
33 आफ्नो वेदीबाट मैले वञ्चित तेरा कुनै पनि व्यक्तिका आँखा धमिलिनेछन् र तेरो जीवनको निम्ति म कष्ट ल्याउनेछु । तेरो परिवारमा जन्मका सबै मानिसहरू मर्नेछन् ।
And the man of thine [whom] I shall not cut off from mine altar, shall be to cause thine eyes to fail and to grieve thy soul; and all the increase of thy house shall die in their vigour.
34 तेरा दुई छोराहरू होप्नी र पीनहासमाथि आईपर्ने चिन्ह यो हुनेछः तिनीहरू दुवै एकै दिनमा मर्नेछन् ।
And this shall be the sign to thee, which shall come upon thy two sons, upon Hophni and Phinehas: in one day they shall die, both of them.
35 म आफ्नो निम्ति एक जना विश्वासयोग्य पुजारी नियक्त गर्नेछु जसले मेरो हृदय र मेरो प्राणमा जे छ सो गर्नेछ । उसको घराना निर्माण गर्नेछु, अनि ऊ नै मेरो अभिषिक्त राजाको सामु सधैं हिंड्नेछ ।
And I will raise up for myself a faithful priest, [who] shall do according to what is in my heart and in my mind; and I will build him a sure house; and he shall walk before mine anointed continually.
36 तेरो घरानामा बाँकी रहेका हरेक मानिस चाँदीको एक टुक्रा र रोटीको एक टुक्रा माग्न उसकहाँ आउनेछन् र घोप्टो पर्नेछन् र यसो भन्नेछन्, “कृपया, मलाई पनि पुजारीको कुनै काम दिनुहोस्, ताकि म पनि एक टुक्रा खान पाउनेछु ।”
And it shall come to pass [that] every one that is left of thy house shall come to crouch to him for a small piece of silver and for a cake of bread, and shall say, Put me, I pray thee, into one of the priestly offices, that I may eat a morsel of bread.
