१ राजाहरू 1
1 जब राजा दाऊद वृद्ध भए र तिनको उमेर ढल्किसकेको थियो, तिनीहरूले तिनलाई कम्बल ओढाइदिँदा पनि तिनलाई न्यानो हुँदैनथ्यो ।
Now, King David, was old, advanced in days, —and they covered him with clothes, but he gat no heat.
2 त्यसैले तिनका सेवकहरूले तिनलाई भने, “हाम्रा मालिक राजाको लागि एउटी कन्या केटी खोजौँ । त्यसले राजाको सेवा गरोस् र उहाँको वास्ता गरोस् । त्यसले हाम्रा मालिक राजालाई न्यायो पार्न त्यो उहाँसित सुतोस् ।”
Wherefore his servants said unto him—Let there be sought for my lord the king, a young woman—a virgin, so shall she stand before the king, that she may become his companion, —and she shall lie in thy bosom, and my lord the king shall get, heat.
3 त्यसैले तिनीहरूले इस्राएलका सारा सिमानाभित्र एउटी सुन्दरी स्त्रीको खोजी गरे । तिनीहरूले शूनम्मी अबीशगलाई फेला पारी राजाकहाँ ल्याए ।
So they sought a fair young woman, throughout all the bounds of Israel, —and found Abishag, the Shunammite, and brought her in, unto the king.
4 केटी अत्यन्तै सुन्दरी थिइन् । उनले राजाको सेवा गरिन् र तिनको वास्ता गरिन्, तर राजाले उनीसित सहवास गरेनन् ।
Now, the young woman, was exceeding fair, —so she became unto the king a companion, and ministered unto him, but, the king, knew her not.
5 त्यस बेला हग्गीतका छोरा अदोनियाहले “म राजा हुने छु” भन्दै आफैलाई उचाले । त्यसैले तिनले पचास जना मानिससँगै रथहरू र घोडचढीहरू आफ्नो अगि दगुर्न तयार पारे ।
And, Adonijah son of Haggith, exalted himself, saying—I, will be king. Therefore prepared he for himself chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.
6 “तैँले किन यस्तो व्यवहार गरेको?” भनी तिनका पिताले तिनलाई कहिल्यै सोधेनन् । अदोनियाह आफै पनि अत्यन्तै सुन्दर मानिस थिए र तिनी अब्शालोमभन्दा पछि जन्मेका थिए ।
Now his father had not displeased him all his days, by saying—Why, thus, hast thou done? Moreover also, he, was of exceeding handsome appearance, and, him, did his mother bear, after Absolom.
7 अदोनियाहले सरूयाहका छोरा योआब र पुजारी अबियाथारसित सरसल्लाह लिए । तिनीहरूले अदोनियाहलाई पछ्याएर तिनको मदत गरे ।
So then he had speech with Joab, son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the priest, —and they gave help, following Adonijah.
8 तर पुजारी सादोक, यहोयादाका छोरा बनायाह, नातान अगमवक्ता, शिमी, रेई र दाऊदका शक्तिशाली मानिसहरूचाहिँ अदोनियाहतर्फ लागेनन् ।
But, Zadok the priest, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty men who belonged to David, were not with Adonijah.
9 अदोनियाले एन-रोगेलको छेउमा अवस्थित जोहेलेत भन्ने ढुङ्गानेर भेडा, गोरु र पोसिएका बाछाहरू बलिदान चढाए । तिनले आफ्ना सबै दाजुभाइ, राजा छोराहरू र यहूदाका सबै मानिसलगायत राजाका सेवकहरूलाई निमन्त्रणा दिए ।
And Adonijah sacrificed sheep and oxen and heifers, near the stone of Zoheleth, which is beside En-rogel, —and invited all his brethren, sons of the king, and all the men of Judah, servants of the king;
10 तर तिनले नातान अगमवक्ता, बनायाह, शक्तिशाली मानिसहरू र आफ्ना भाइ सोलोमनलाई निमन्त्रणा दिएनन् ।
but, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty men, and Solomon his brother, he invited not.
11 तब नातानले सोलोमनकी आमा बतशेबालाई यसो भन्दै सोधे, “हाम्रा मालिक दाऊदलाई थाहै नदिई हग्गीतका छोरा अदोनियाह राजा भएका छन् भन्ने कुरा के तपाईंले सुन्नुभएको छैन?”
Then spake Nathan unto Bath-sheba mother of Solomon, saying—Hast thou not heard that Adonijah son of Haggith hath become king, and, our lord David, knoweth it not?
12 त्यसकारण, तपाईंले आफ्नै जीवन र तपाईंका छोरा सोलोमनको जीवन बचाउन सक्नुभएको होस् भनेर म अब तपाईंलाई सल्लाह दिन चाहन्छु ।
Now, therefore, come; let me give thee counsel, I pray thee, —so shalt thou rescue thine own life, and the life of thy son, Solomon.
13 राजा दाऊदकहाँ गएर भन्नहोस्, ‘मेरा मालिक राजा, के तपाईंले आफ्नो सेवकलाई “निश्चय नै मपछि तिम्रो छोराले शासन गर्ने छ र त्यो नै मेरो सिंहासनमा बस्ने छ” भनी तपाईंले मसित शपथ खानुभएको होइन र? त्यसो भए, किन अदोनियाहले शासन गर्दै छन् त?’
Go, and get thee in unto King David, and thou shalt say unto him—Didst not, thou thyself, my lord O king, swear unto thy handmaid, saying—Solomon thy son, shall become king after me, yea, he, shall sit upon my throne? Why, then, hath, Adonijah, become king?
14 तपाईंले राजासित बोलिरहनुहुँदा म तपाईंको पछिपछि भित्र आउने छु र तपाईंको कुरा पुष्टि गरिदिने छु ।”
Lo! while thou art yet speaking there with the king, I also, will come in after thee, and confirm thy words.
15 त्यसैले बतशेबा राजाको कोठामा गइन् । राजा अत्यन्तै वृद्ध भइसकेका थिए, र शूनम्मी अबीशगले राजाको सेवा गर्दै थिइन् ।
So Bath-sheba went in unto the king, into the chamber, now, the king, was very old, —and Abishag the Shunammite, was ministering unto the king.
16 बतशेबाले शिर झुकाई राजाको सामु शाष्टाङ्ग दण्डवत् गरिन् । तब राजाले सोधे, “तिमी के चाहन्छ्यौ?”
And Bath-sheba bowed, and did homage unto the king, —and the king said—What aileth thee?
17 उनले राजालाई भनिन्, “हे मेरा मालिक, परमप्रभु तपाईंका परमेश्वरको नाउँमा तपाईंले आफ्नी दासीसित यसो भन्दै शपथ खानुभएको थियो, ‘निश्चय नै मपछि तिम्रो छोराले शासन गर्ने छ र त्यो नै मेरो सिंहासनमा बस्ने छ ।”
And she said unto him—My lord, thou thyself, didst swear by Yahweh thy God, unto thy handmaid, Assuredly, Solomon thy son, shall become king after me, —yea, he, shall sit upon my throne.
18 अब हेर्नुहोस्, अदोनियाह राजा भएको छ, र मेरा मालिक हजुरलाई यो कुरा थाहै छैन ।
But, now, lo! Adonijah, hath become king; now, therefore, my lord, O king, thou knowest it not:
19 तिनले ठुलो सङ्ख्यामा गोरुहरू, पोसिएका बाछाहरू र भेडा बलिदान चढाएका छन्, अनि राजाका सबै छोरा, पुजारी अबियाथार, र सेनापति योआबलाई निमन्त्रणा दिएका छन्, तर तपाईंका दास सोलोमनलाई भने निमन्त्रणा दिएका छैनन् ।
and he hath sacrificed oxen and heifers and sheep, in abundance, and hath invited all the sons of the king, and Abiathar the priest, and Joab general of the army, —but, Solomon thy servant, hath he not invited.
20 हे मेरा मालिक राजा, हजुरपछि को सिंहासनमा बस्ने छ भनी हजुरबाट थाहा पाउनलाई सारा इस्राएलले हजुरकै प्रतीक्षा गरिरहेका छन् ।
Thou, therefore, my lord, O king, the eyes of all Israel, are upon thee, —to tell them, who shall sit upon the throne of my lord the king, after him.
21 नत्रता जब हजुर आफ्ना पिता-पुर्खाहरूसित सुतिजानुहुने छ तब म र मेरो छोरो सोलोमनलाई अपराधीजस्तै ठानिने छ ।”
Otherwise it shall come to pass, when my lord the king shall sleep with his fathers, then shall I and my son Solomon be counted, offenders.
22 उनी राजासित बोलिरहँदा नातान अगमवक्ता भित्र आए ।
And lo! while yet she was speaking with the king, Nathan the prophet, came in.
23 सेवकहरूले राजालाई भने, “नातान अगवमक्ता आएका छन् ।” तिनी भित्र प्रवेश गरेपछि तिनले भुइँसम्मे निहुरेर राजालाई दण्डवत् गरे ।
So they told the king, saying, Lo! Nathan the prophet! And, when he had come in before the king, he bowed himself down to the king with his face to the ground.
24 नातानले भने, “हे मेरा मालिक राजा, “के हजुरपछि अदोनियाह राजा हुने छन् र तिनी नै हजुरको सिंहासनमा बस्ने छन् भनी हजुरले भन्नुभएको छ र?’
Then said Nathan—My lord, O king, hast, thou, said, Adonijah, shall become king after me, —yea, he, shall sit upon my throne?
25 किनकि तिनी आज तल गएका छन्, र तिनले ठुलो सङ्ख्यामा गोरुहरू, पोसिएका बाछाहरू र भेडाहरू बलिदान चढाएका छन्, अनि तिनले राजाका सबै छोरा, सेनापतिहरू र पुजारी अबियाथारलाई निमन्त्रणा दिएका छन् । तिनीहरू तिनकै सामु खाँदै र पिउँदै यसो भन्दै छन्, ‘राजा अदोनियाह दीर्घायु होऊन्!’
For he hath gone down to-day, and hath sacrificed oxen and heifers and sheep, in abundance, and hath invited all the sons of the king, and the generals of the army, and Abiathar the priest, and, there they are—eating and drinking before him, —and they have said—Long live King Adonijah!
26 तर तिनले तपाईंका दास मलाई, पुजारी सादोक, यहोयादाका छोरा बनायाह र हजुरको दास सोलोमनलाई निमन्त्रणा दिएका छैनन् ।
But, me, even me thy servant, and Zadok the priest, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and Solomon thy servant, hath he not invited.
27 हे मेरा मालिक राजा, के हजुरपछि हजुरको सिंहासनमा को बस्ने भनेर हजुरले हामी हजुरका दासहरूलाई जानकारी नै नदिई यसो गर्नुभएको हो र?”
If, of my lord the king, this thing had been brought to pass, then wouldest thou not have made known unto thy servant, who should sit upon the throne of my lord the king, after him?
28 तब राजा दाऊदले जवाफ दिए, “बतशेबालाई फेरि मकहाँ बोलाऊ ।” उनी राजाको उपस्थितिमा आएर राजाको सामु खडा भइन् ।
Then responded King David, and said, Call me Bath-sheba. So she came in before the king, and stood before the king.
29 राजाले शपथ खाएर भने, “मेरा सबै सङ्कष्टमा मलाई छुटकारा दिनुहुने परमप्रभुको नाउँमा शपथ खाएर म भन्दछु,
And the king sware, and said, —By the life of Yahweh, who hath redeemed my life out of every strait,
30 कि इस्राएलका परमेश्वर परमप्रभुको नाउँमा मैले यसो भनी शपथ खाएको थिएँ, “मपछि तिम्रो छोरा सोलोमनले शासन गर्ने छ र त्यो नै मेरो सिंहासनमा बस्ने छ ।' आज म यो पुरा गर्ने छु ।”
even as I sware unto thee by Yahweh, God of Israel, saying, Assuredly, Solomon thy son, shall become king after me, yea, he, shall sit upon my throne, in my stead, even so, will I do this day.
31 तब बतशेबाले भुइँमा शिर झुकाई राजाको सामु घुँडा टेकेर भनिन्, “मेरा मालिक राजा दाऊद सदासर्वदा दीर्घायु होऊन्!”
Then Bath-sheba bowed with her face to the ground, and did homage unto the king, —and said—Let my lord, King David, live to times age-abiding!
32 राजा दाऊदले भने, “पुजारी सादोक, नातान अगमवक्ता र यहोयादाका छोरा बनायाहलाई मकहाँ बोलाएर ल्याऊ ।” त्यसैले तिनीहरू राजाको सामु हाजिर भए ।
Then said King David—Call me Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada. And they came in before the king.
33 राजाले तिनीहरूलाई भने, “तिमीहरूका मालिकका सेवकहरूलाई तिमीहरूसँगै लैजाओ, र मेरो पछि सोलोमनलाई राजाको खच्चरमा सवारा गराएर गीहोनसम्म सँगसँगै लैजाओ ।
Then said the king unto them—Take ye with you the servants of your lord, and cause Solomon my son to ride upon the mule which pertaineth unto myself, —and bring him down unto Gihon;
34 पुजारी सादोक र नातान अगमवक्ताले तिनलाई इस्राएलमाथि राजा अभिषेक गरून्, अनि तुरही फुकी यसो भनून्, ‘राजा सोलोमन दीर्घायु होऊन्!’
then shall Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there as king over Israel, —and ye shall blow with the horn, and say—Long live King Solomon!
35 त्यसपछि तिमीहरू तिनको पछिपछि आओ र तिनी आएर मेरो सिंहासनमा बस्ने छन् । किनकि तिनी मेरो ठाउँमा राजा हुने छन् । मैले तिनलाई इस्राएल र यहूदामाथि शासक नियुक्त गरेको छु ।”
Then shall ye come up after him, and he shall enter, and sit upon my throne, yea, he, shall become king in my stead; even, him, have I charged to become leader, over Israel, and over Judah.
36 यहोयादाका छोरा बनायाहले राजालाई जवाफ दिए, “यस्तै होस्! मेरा मालिक राजाका परमेश्वर परमप्रभुले यसको पुष्टि गरून् ।
Then did Benaiah son of Jehoiada make response unto the king, and say—Amen! so, say Yahweh, God of my lord the king.
37 जसरी परमप्रभु मेरा मालिक राजासित हुनुभएको छ, त्यसै गरी सोलोमनसित हुनुभएको होस्, र उहाँले मेरा मालिक राजा दाऊदको सिंहासनभन्दा सोलोमनको सिंहासन उच्च पार्नुभएको होस् ।”
As Yahweh hath been with my lord the king, so, let him he with Solomon, —and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord, King David.
38 त्यसैले, पुजारी सादोक, नातान अगमवक्ता, यहोयादाका छोरा बनायाह र करेतीहरूसाथै पेलेथीहरू तल झरे अनि सोलोमनलाई राजा दाऊदको खच्चरमा सवार गराएर गीहोनमा ल्याए ।
So Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, with the Cherethites and the Pelethites, went down, and caused Solomon to ride upon the mule of King David, —and they escorted him to Gihon.
39 पुजारी सादोकले पालबाट तेल राख्ने सिङ लिई सोलोमनलाई तेलले अभिषेक गरे । त्यसपछि तिनीहरूले तुरही फुके, अनि सबै मानिसले भने, “राजा सोलोमन दीर्घायु होऊन्!”
Then took Zadok the priest, the horn of oil out of the Tent, and anointed Solomon, —and they blew with a [ram’s] horn, and all the people said, Long live King Solomon!
40 तब सबै मानिस तिनको पछिपछि लागे, अनि मानिसहरूले बाँसुरी बजाउँदै बडो आनन्द मनाए । तिनीहरूको हल्लाले जमिनै थर्क्यो ।
And all the people came up after him, the people themselves also, playing with flutes, and rejoicing with great joy, —so that the earth rent with the sound of them.
41 अदोनियाह र तिनीसित भएका सबै पाहुनाले खाइसक्ने बित्तिकै यो खबर सुने । योआबले तुरहीको आवाज सुनेपछि तिनले भने, “सहरमा किन हल्ला हुँदै छ?”
And Adonijah, and all the guests who were with him, heard it, just as, they, had made an end of eating, —and, when Joab heard the sound of a horn, he said—Wherefore the noise of the city, in tumult?
42 तिनी बोलिरहँदा पुजारी अबियाथार का छोरा जोनाथन आइपुगे । अदोनियाहले भने, “भित्र आऊ, किनकि तिमी योग्य मानिस हौ र तिमीले शुभ खबर ल्याउँछौ ।”
While yet he was speaking, lo! Jonathan son of Abiathar the priest, came in, —and Adonijah said—Come in, for, a worthy man, thou art, and, good tidings, dost thou bring.
43 जोनाथनले अदोनियाहलाई जवाफ दिए, “हाम्रा मालिक राजा दाऊदले सोलोमनलाई राजा बनाउनुभएको छ,
But Jonathan responded and said to Adonijah, —Of a truth, our lord, King David, hath made, Solomon, king.
44 र राजाले तिनीसितै पुजारी सादोक, नातान अगमवक्ता, यहोयादाका छोरा बनायाह र करेतीहरूसाथै पेलेथीहरूलाई पठाउनुभएको छ । तिनीहरूले सोलोमनलाई राजाको खच्चरमा सवार गराएका छन् ।
And the king hath sent with him—Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, with the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, —and they have caused him to ride upon the mule of the king;
45 पुजारी सादोक र नातान अगमवक्ताले गीहोनमा सोलोमनलाई राजा अभिषेक गरेका छन्, अनि तिनीहरू त्यहाँबाट रमाउँदै आएका छन् । सहरमा त्यसैको हल्ला हो । तपाईंले सुन्नुभएको आवाज त्यही नै हो ।
and Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king, in Gihon, and they went up from thence rejoicing, so that the city rang again, —That, is the noise ye have heard.
46 साथै, सोलोमन राज्यको सिंहासनमा बसिरहेका छन् ।
Moreover also, Solomon hath taken his seat upon the throne of the kingdom.
47 यसबाहेक, राजाका सेवकहरू हाम्रा मालिक राजा दाऊदलाई यसो भन्दै आशिष् दिन आए, 'हजुरका परमेश्वरले सोलोमनको नाउँ हजुरको भन्दा उत्तम बनाऊन् र हजुरको भन्दा तिनको सिंहासन महान् बनाऊन् ।' त्यसपछि राजाले पलङ्गमा नै दण्डवत् गरे ।
Moreover also, the servants of the king have been in, to bless our lord King David, saying—Thy God make the name of Solomon better than thy name, and make his throne greater than thy throne, —And the king bowed himself upon his bed.
48 राजाले यसो पनि भने, 'इस्राएलका परमेश्वर परमप्रभु धन्यका होऊन् जसले आजको दिन मेरो सिंहासनमा एक जना व्यक्तिलाई राख्नुभएको छ जुन मेरै आँखाले देखेका छन्' ।”
Moreover also, thus and thus, hath said the king, —Blessed be Yahweh, God of Israel, who hath given, to-day, one to sit upon my throne, mine own eyes also beholding it.
49 त्यसपछि अदोनियाहका सबै पाहुना अत्यन्तै डराए । तिनीहरू उठेर आ-आफ्नो बाटो लागे ।
Then trembled and rose up, all Adonijah’s guests, —and departed, every man his own way.
50 अदोनियाह सोलोमनदेखि डराएर उठे अनि गएर वेदीका सिङहरू समाते ।
Adonijah also, feared because of Solomon, —and rose and went, and caught hold of the horns of the altar.
51 त्यसपछि सोलोमनलाई यसो भनियो, “हेर्नुहोस्, अदोनियाह राजा सोलोमनदेखि डराएका छन्, किनकि तिनले यसो भन्दै वेदीका सिङहरू समातेका छन्, ‘राजा सोलोमनले आफ्ना दासलाई तरवारले नमारून् भनी उहाँले पहिले मसित शपथ खानुभएको होस्' ।”
And it was told Solomon, saying, Lo! Adonijah, feareth King Solomon, —lo! therefore, he hath laid hold of the horns of the altar, saying, Let King Solomon swear unto me at once that he will not put his servant to death with the sword.
52 सोलोमनले भने, “तिनले आफैलाई योग्य मानिस साबित गरे भने तिनको इच्छाविना एउटा रौँ पनि भुइँमा झर्ने छैन, तर तिनमा दुष्टता पाइयो भने तिनी मर्ने छन् ।”
Then said Solomon, If he will be a man of worth, there shall not one hair of him fall to the earth, —but, if mischief be found in him, then shall he die.
53 त्यसैले राजा सोलोमनले मानिसहरू पठाए जसले अदोनियाहलाई वेदीबाट लिएर आए । तिनी आएर राजा सोलोमनलाई दण्डवत् गरे, र सोलोमनले तिनलाई भने, “तिम्रो घरमा जाऊ ।”
So King Solomon sent, and brought him down from the altar, and he came in, and bowed himself down to King Solomon, —and Solomon said unto him—Go to thine own house.
