1 Bakhumbuze ukuthi bazehlisele ngaphansi kwababusi leziphathamandla, babalalele, balungele wonke umsebenzi omuhle,
Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work,
2 bangahlebi muntu, bangabi yizilwi, babekezele, batshengise bonke ubumnene ebantwini bonke.
to slander no one, and to be peaceable and considerate, always showing gentleness toward everyone.
3 Ngoba lathi kade sasiyiziphukuphuku, singalaleli, sikhohliswa, sisebenzela inkanuko lentokozo ezinenginengi, siphila ebubini lemoneni, sizondeka, sizondana.
For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, and enslaved to various lusts and pleasures. Living in wickedness and envy, we were loathsome and hated one another.
4 Kodwa lapho sekubonakele umusa lothando lukaNkulunkulu uMsindisi wethu kubantu,
But when the kindness of God our Savior and his love for mankind appeared,
5 kungeyisikho okuvela ezenzweni zokulunga esazenzayo thina, kodwa njengokwesihawu sakhe wasisindisa, ngokugeziswa kokuzalwa kutsha lokuvuselelwa koMoya oNgcwele,
he saved us, not because of any righteous works we had done, but according to his mercy, through the washing of regeneration and the renewal of the Holy Spirit.
6 owamthulula ngokwengezelelweyo phezu kwethu, ngoJesu Kristu uMsindisi wethu,
He richly poured out his Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior,
7 ukuze silungisiswe ngomusa wakhe, sibe yizindlalifa ngokwethemba lempilo elaphakade. (aiōnios g166)
so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
8 Lithembekile ilizwi, njalo ngithanda ukuthi uqinise isibili ngalezizinto, ukuze abakholwa kuNkulunkulu bakhuthalele ukuma emisebenzini emihle. Lezi yizinto ezinhle ezilosizo ebantwini;
This saying is trustworthy. I want yoʋ to insist on these things, so that those who have put their trust in God may be careful to devote themselves to good works. These things are good and beneficial for people.
9 kodwa xwaya imibuzo yobuthutha lendaba zosendo olokuzalana lombango lokuphikisana ngomlayo; ngoba kazisizi futhi ziyize.
But avoid foolish controversies, genealogies, quarrels, and disputes about the law, for they are unprofitable and futile.
10 Umuntu obhazukayo emva kwesilayo sokuqala lesesibili, mdele,
Reject a divisive person after a first and second warning.
11 usazi ukuthi onjalo uphambukile, uyona, uyazilahla yena.
For yoʋ know that such a person is corrupted and sinful; he is self-condemned.
12 Nxa ngizathuma uArtema kuwe loba uTikiko, khuthala uze kimi eNikapoli; ngoba ngizimisele ukuhlala khona ebusika.
When I send Artemas to yoʋ, or Tychicus, make every effort to come to me at Nicopolis, for I have decided to spend the winter there.
13 Khuthala uncedise uZena isazumthetho loApolosi ekuhambeni kwabo, ukuze kungabi lalutho oluswelakalayo kubo.
Do everything yoʋ can to help Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their way, and make sure they lack nothing.
14 Abakithi-ke labo kabafunde ukuma emisebenzini emihle yokudingekayo kusweleka, ukuze bangabi ngabangelazithelo.
Our people must learn to devote themselves to good works in order to meet pressing needs, so that they will not be unfruitful.
15 Bonke abalami bayakubingelela. Bingelela abasithandayo ekholweni. Umusa kawube lani lonke. Ameni.
