1 Kodwa wena khuluma izinto ezifanele imfundiso ephilileyo.
But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:
2 Amadoda amadala ukuthi azithinte, ahlonipheke, engaqondileyo, ephilile ekholweni, ethandweni, ekubekezeleni;
That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience;
3 abesifazana abadala ngokunjalo ukuthi baziphathe ngokufanele abangcwele, bangabi ngabahlebayo, bangafuywa liwayini elinengi, abafundisi bokuhle,
The aged women likewise, that [they be] in behavior as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
4 ukuze bafundise abesifazana abatsha ukuthi baqonde, babengabathandi babomkabo, bathande abantwana babo,
That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
5 abaqondileyo, bemhlophe, begcina amakhaya, belungile, bezehlisela ngaphansi kwawabo amadoda, ukuze ilizwi likaNkulunkulu lingadunyazwa.
[To be] discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
6 Abesilisa abatsha ngokunjalo ubakhuthaze ukuthi babe ngabaqondileyo;
Young men likewise exhort to be sober-minded.
7 mayelana lazo zonke izinto zitshengise uyisibonelo sezenzo ezinhle: Ekufundiseni okungabolanga, ubunzulu, ukuqonda,
In all things showing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine [showing] incorruptness, gravity, sincerity,
8 ilizwi eliphilileyo, elingasolekiyo; ukuze omelana lani abe lenhloni, aswele ulutho olubi angalukhuluma ngani.
Sound speech that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say concerning you.
9 Khuthaza izigqili ukuthi zizehlisele ngaphansi kwawazo amakhosi, zikholeke ezintweni zonke, zingaphikisi,
[Exhort] servants to be obedient to their own masters, [and] to please [them] well in all [things]; not answering again;
10 zingantshontshi, kodwa zitshengise konke ukuthembeka okuhle, ukuze zicecise imfundiso kaNkulunkulu uMsindisi wethu ezintweni zonke.
Not purloining, but showing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things.
11 Ngoba ubonakele umusa kaNkulunkulu osindisayo ebantwini bonke,
For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
12 usifundisa ukuthi, sidele ukungakhonzi uNkulunkulu lenkanuko zomhlaba, siphile ngokuqonda langokulunga langokwesaba uNkulunkulu emhlabeni wakhathesi, (aiōn g165)
Teaching us, that denying ungodliness, and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and piously, in this present world; (aiōn g165)
13 silindele ithemba elibusisiweyo lokubonakala kwenkazimulo kaNkulunkulu omkhulu loMsindisi wethu uJesu Kristu,
Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God, and our Savior Jesus Christ;
14 owazinikelela thina, ukuze asihlenge ebubini bonke, azihlambululele isizwe esikhethekileyo, esitshisekela imisebenzi emihle.
Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify to himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
15 Khuluma lezizinto, ukhuthaze, ukhuze ulamandla wonke. Kungabi khona umuntu okudelelayo.
These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
