1 Kodwa thina esilamandla sifanele ukuthwala ubuthakathaka babangelamandla, njalo singazithokozisi thina.

Now we who are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to seek our own pleasure.

2 Ngoba ngulowo lalowo wethu kathokozise umakhelwane kube kuhle ekumakheni.

Let each one of us try to make his neighbor happy for his good, unto his upbuilding.

3 Ngoba laye uKristu kazithokozisanga yena, kodwa, kunjengokulotshiweyo ukuthi: Ukuthuka kwabakuthukayo kwawela phezu kwami.

For even Christ pleased not himself; but as it is written, The reproaches of those who were reproaching thee fell upon me.

4 Ngoba konke okwabhalwa ngaphambili, kwabhalelwa ukufundiswa kwethu, ukuze ngokubekezela langenduduzo yemibhalo sibe lethemba.

For everything that was written of old has been written for our instruction, that through patience, and through the comfort of the Scriptures, we might have hope.

5 Njalo uNkulunkulu wokubekezela lenduduzo kaliphe ukuthi libe nhliziyonye phakathi kwenu njengokukaKristu Jesu;

Now the God of patience and of comfort grant you to be in full sympathy with one another, in accordance with the example of Jesus Christ;

6 ukuze nganhliziyonye ngomlomo munye limdumise uNkulunkulu, ngitsho uYise weNkosi yethu uJesu Kristu.

so that with one heart and with one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

7 Ngakho yemukelanani, njengalokhu loKristu wasemukela, kube ludumo lukaNkulunkulu.

Wherefore always receive one another into fellowship, to the glory of God, even as Christ also received you.

8 Njalo ngithi, uJesu Kristu waba yinceku yokusoka ngenxa yeqiniso likaNkulunkulu, ukuthi aqinise izithembiso zabobaba;

For I say that Christ has been made a minister of the Circumcision the people of Israel, in vindication of God’s truth, so that he may confirm the promises given to our forefathers;

9 lezizwe zimdumise uNkulunkulu ngenxa yesihawu; njengokulotshiweyo ukuthi: Ngakho ngizakuvuma phakathi kwezizwe, ngihubele ibizo lakho izibongo.

and so that the Gentiles also should praise God for his mercy, as it is written, Therefore I will offer praise to thee among the Gentiles, And sing to thy name.

10 Njalo futhi uthi: Thokozani, bezizwe, kanye labantu bakhe.

Or again, Rejoice, O Gentiles, with his people.

11 Futhi-ke: Dumisani iNkosi lina bezizwe lonke; idumiseni-ke lina bantu bonke.

Or again, Praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles, And let all the people extol him.

12 Njalo futhi uIsaya uthi: Kuzakuba khona impande kaJese, lophakamela ukubusa abezizwe; abezizwe bazathembela kuye.

Or again, as Isaiah says. There shall be the root of Jesse, And he that arises to rule over the Gentiles; On him shall the Gentiles hope.

13 Kungathi-ke uNkulunkulu wethemba angaligcwalisa ngentokozo yonke langokuthula ekukholweni, ukuze lengezwe ethembeni, ngamandla kaMoya oNgcwele.

Now the God of all hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may be overflowing with hope in the power of the Holy Spirit.

14 Lami-ke ngokwami nganelisiwe ngani, bazalwane bami, ukuthi lani ngokwenu ligcwele okuhle, ligcwaliswe yikwazi konke, lilamandla-ke okwelulekana.

And I myself also am confident regarding you, my brothers, that you yourselves are already full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, and well able to give advice to one another.

15 Kodwa, bazalwane, ngilibhalele ngesibindi esikhulu, nganxanye, njengolikhumbuzayo, ngenxa yomusa engiwuphiweyo nguNkulunkulu,

Still I have written unto you the more boldly, in part, by way of reminding you, because of that gift of grace which God bestowed upon me, in making me a priest of Jesus Christ unto the Gentiles.

16 ukuze ngibe yisikhonzi sikaJesu Kristu kwabezizwe, ngikhonze ivangeli likaNkulunkulu, ukuze iminikelo yabezizwe yemukeleke, kwenziwe kube ngcwele ngoMoya oNgcwele.

I act as priest of the gospel of God; so that the Gentiles, when offered before him, may be an acceptable sacrifice, because consecrated by the Holy Spirit.

17 Ngakho ngilokuzincoma kuKristu Jesu ezintweni eziqondane loNkulunkulu;

I have then my boast in Christ Jesus concerning the things of God.

18 ngoba kangiyikuba lesibindi sokukhuluma ulutho lwezinto uKristu angazenzanga ngami, ukuze kube khona ukulalela kwabezizwe, ngelizwi langesenzo,

For I will not dare to speak of any thing except that which Christ has done through me to bring the Gentiles to obedience by word and deed,

19 ngamandla ezibonakaliso lezimangaliso, ngamandla kaMoya kaNkulunkulu; ngakho kusukela eJerusalema lendawo ezizingelezeleyo kuze kufike eIliriku ngitshumayele ivangeli likaKristu ngokupheleleyo;

through the might of signs and wonders, in the power of the Holy Spirit. So that beginning at Jerusalem and its environs, I have proclaimed without reserve the gospel of Christ, even as far as Illyricum.

20 ngokunjalo ngazama kakhulu ukutshumayela ivangeli, kungeyisikho lapho uKristu abizwe khona, ukuze ngingakhi phezu kwesisekelo somunye;

My ambition has been, however, to preach the gospel where Christ’s name was not already known, so that I might not build upon another man’s foundation.

21 kodwa, njengokulotshiweyo ukuthi: Abangatshelwanga ngaye, bazabona, labangezwanga, bazaqedisisa.

But, as Scripture says, He shall be seen by those to whom no news about him ever came, And those who have never heard of him shall understand.

22 Ngenxa yalokho futhi ngavinjelwa kanengi ukuza kini;

This is why I have been so hindered from coming to you.

23 kodwa khathesi-ke lokhu ngingaselandawo kulezizabelo, futhi sekuyiminyaka eminengi ngilesifiso esikhulu sokuza kini,

But now, since I have no more any "opening" in these parts, and since I have longed for many years to come to you

24 ngokunjalo nxa ngizakuya eSpaniya, ngizakuza kini; ngoba ngithemba ukuthi ngizalibona ekudluleni, njalo ngiphelekezelwe yini khona, uba kuqala sengisuthisekile nganxanye ngilani.

whenever I go to Spain, I am hoping to see you on my way there, and to be set forward by you on my way there, and to be set forward by you on my journey thither, after I have enjoyed your company for a little while.

25 Kodwa khathesi-ke ngiya eJerusalema, ngikhonze abangcwele.

Just now I am going to Jerusalem to serve the saints.

26 Ngoba kwaba kuhle eMakedoniya leAkaya ukwenzela umnikelo othile abayanga kwabangcwele abaseJerusalema.

For it has been the good pleasure of Macedonia and Achaia to make an offering for the poor among the saints at Jerusalem.

27 Ngoba kwaba kuhle kubo, njalo balomlandu kubo. Ngoba uba abezizwe behlanganyela labo ezintweni zabo zomoya, balomlandu futhi wokubasebenzela ezintweni zenyama.

Yes, it has been made their good pleasure, and their debt, too. For if the Gentiles have been made partakers of their spiritual riches, they owe it to them also to minister to them the Jews in worldly goods.

28 Ngakho nxa sengiqede lokhu, sengibaphawulele lesisithelo, ngizasuka ngiye eSpaniya ngidlule ngakini.

When, therefore, I have settled this, and have secured to them the poor at Jerusalem the fruit of this collection, I shall come on by you into Spain.

29 Ngiyazi-ke ukuthi nxa ngisiza kini ngizafika ekugcwaleni kwesibusiso sevangeli likaKristu.

And I know that when I come to you, I shall come in the fulness of the blessing of Christ.

30 Ngiyalincenga-ke, bazalwane, ngayo iNkosi yethu uJesu Kristu, langothando lukaMoya, ukuthi lilwise kanye lami emikhulekweni kuNkulunkulu ngami;

Brothers, I beseech you, by Jesus Christ our Lord, and by the love which the Spirit gives, to help me in my struggle by your prayers to God on my behalf,

31 ukuze ngophulwe kwabangakholwayo eJudiya, njalo ukuze umsebenzi wami ongoweJerusalema wemukeleke kubo abangcwele;

that I may be delivered from the disobedient in Judea; that my mission to Jerusalem may be favorably received by the saints;

32 ukuze ngentando kaNkulunkulu ngize kini ngentokozo, ngivuseleleke kanye lani.

and that I may come to you in joy, by the will of God, and find rest together with you.

33 Ngakho uNkulunkulu wokuthula kabe lani lonke. Ameni.

The God of peace be with you all! Amen.
