< Isambulo 9 >
1 Ingilosi yesihlanu yasilukhalisa uphondo, ngasengibona inkanyezi ivela ezulwini isiwele emhlabeni, kwasekunikelwa kuyo isihluthulelo segodi lomgodi ongelamkhawulo. (Abyssos )
Then the fifth angel sounded his trumpet. I saw a star from heaven that had fallen to the earth. The star was given the key to the shaft of the bottomless pit. (Abyssos )
2 Yasivula igodi lomgodi ongelamkhawulo, kwasekusenyuka intuthu emgodini njengentuthu yesithando esikhulu, kwasekufiphazwa ilanga lomoya ngentuthu yomgodi. (Abyssos )
He opened the shaft of the bottomless pit, and smoke went up out of the shaft like smoke from a huge furnace. The sun and the air turned dark by the smoke pouring out of the shaft. (Abyssos )
3 Kwasekuphuma isikhonyane entuthwini seza emhlabeni, kwasekunikwa kuso amandla, njengabofezela bomhlaba belamandla.
Out of the smoke locusts came on the earth, and they were given power like that of scorpions on the earth.
4 Kwasekuthiwa kuso singoni utshani bomhlaba, loba yini eluhlaza, loba yisiphi isihlahla, ngaphandle kwabantu kuphela abangelaphawu lukaNkulunkulu emabunzini abo.
They were told not to damage the grass on the earth or any green plant or tree, but only the people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads.
5 Kwasekunikwa kuso ukuthi singababulali, kodwa bahlutshwe inyanga ezinhlanu; lobuhlungu baso babunjengobuhlungu bukafezela, lapho eluma umuntu.
They were not given permission to kill those people, but only to torture them for five months. Their agony would be like the sting of a scorpion when it strikes a person.
6 Langalezonsuku abantu bazadinga ukufa, kodwa bangakutholi; bazafisa ukufa, kodwa ukufa kuzababalekela.
In those days people will seek death, but will not find it. They will greatly desire to die, but death will flee from them.
7 Lezimo zesikhonyane zazinjengamabhiza alungiselwe impi, lemakhanda aso kwakukhona okunjengemiqhele enjengegolide, lobuso baso babunjengobuso babantu.
The locusts looked like horses prepared for war. On their heads were something like crowns of gold, and their faces were like human faces.
8 Njalo sasilenwele ezinjengenwele zabesifazana, lamazinyo aso ayenjengawezilwane.
They had hair like women's hair, and their teeth were like lions' teeth.
9 Futhi sasilezivikelo zesifuba ezinjengezivikelo zesifuba zensimbi, lomdumo wempiko zaso wawunjengomdumo wezinqola zamabhiza amanengi egijimela empini.
They had breastplates like iron breastplates, and the sound of their wings was like the sound made by many chariots and horses running into battle.
10 Njalo sasilemisila efanana leyabofezela, njalo kwakulendonsi emisileni yaso; lamandla aso ayengawokona abantu inyanga ezinhlanu;
They had tails with stingers like scorpions; in their tails they had power to harm people for five months.
11 futhi sasilenkosi phezu kwaso, ingilosi yomgodi ongelamkhawulo; ibizo layo ngesiHebheru linguAbadoni, langesiGriki ilebizo elithiwa nguApoliyoni. (Abyssos )
They had as king over them the angel of the bottomless pit. His name in Hebrew was Abaddon, and in Greek he had the name Apollyon. (Abyssos )
12 Umaye oyedwa usedlulile; khangela kuseza omaye ababili emva kwalezizinto.
The first woe is past. Look! After this there are still two disasters to come.
13 Ingilosi yesithupha yasilukhalisa uphondo; ngasengisizwa ilizwi livela empondweni ezine zelathi legolide eliphambi kukaNkulunkulu,
The sixth angel sounded his trumpet, and I heard a voice coming from the horns of the golden altar that is present before God.
14 lisithi kungilosi yesithupha eyayilophondo: Khulula ingilosi ezine ezibotshiweyo emfuleni omkhulu iYufrathi.
The voice said to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Release the four angels who are bound at the great Euphrates River.”
15 Zasezikhululwa ingilosi ezine ezazilungiselwe ihola losuku lenyanga lomnyaka, ukuze zibulale ingxenye yesithathu yabantu.
The four angels who had been prepared for that hour, that day, that month, and that year, were released to kill a third of mankind.
16 Lenani lamabutho agade amabhiza laliyizigidi ezimbili zezigidi; ngasengisizwa inani lawo.
The number of the soldiers on horseback was 200,000,000. I heard their number.
17 Ngasengiwabona ngokunje amabhiza embonweni, labagadi bawo, belezivikelo zesifuba zomlilo lezehiyakinte lezesibabule; lamakhanda amabhiza ayenjengamakhanda ezilwane, lemilonyeni yawo kwaphuma umlilo lentuthu lesibabule.
This is how I saw the horses in my vision and those who rode on them: Their breastplates were fiery red, dark blue and sulfurous yellow. The heads of the horses resembled the heads of lions, and out of their mouths came fire, smoke, and sulfur.
18 Ngalezi ezintathu kwabulawa ingxenye yesithathu yabantu, ngomlilo langentuthu langesibabule okwaphuma emilonyeni yawo.
A third of the people were killed by these three plagues: the fire, smoke, and sulfur that came out of their mouths.
19 Ngoba amandla awo asemlonyeni wawo, lemisileni yawo; ngoba imisila yawo injengezinyoka ilamakhanda, langawo ayalimaza.
For the power of the horses was in their mouths and in their tails—for their tails were like snakes, and they had heads with which they inflicted wounds on people.
20 Labaseleyo babantu, abangabulawanga kulezinhlupheko, kabaphendukanga emisebenzini yezandla zabo, ukuthi bangakhonzi amadimoni, lezithombe zegolide lezesiliva lezethusi lezelitshe lezesihlahla, njalo ezingaboniyo, lezingezwayo, lezingahambiyo;
The rest of mankind, those who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the deeds they had done, nor did they stop worshiping demons and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone, and wood—things that cannot see, hear, or walk.
21 futhi kabaphendukanga ekubulaleni kwabo, kumbe ekuthakatheni kwabo, loba ekuphingeni kwabo, kumbe ekwebeni kwabo.
Neither did they repent of their murders, their sorcery, their sexual immorality or their acts of theft.
