1 Nkosi, Nkulunkulu wempindiselo, Nkulunkulu wempindiselo, khanyisa!
O Jehovah, thou God to whom vengeance belongs, thou God to whom vengeance belongs, shine forth.
2 Phakama, Mahluleli womhlaba, uphindisele umvuzo kwabazigqajayo.
Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth. Render to the proud a recompense.
3 Nkosi, koze kube nini ababi, koze kube nini ababi begiya?
Jehovah, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?
4 Bepopota, bekhuluma ngokuziphakamisa, bonke abenzi bobubi bezikhukhumeza?
They prate, they speak arrogantly. All the workers of iniquity boast themselves.
5 Nkosi, bayabaphohloza abantu bakho, bayalihlupha ilifa lakho.
They break in pieces thy people, O Jehovah, and afflict thy heritage.
6 Babulala umfelokazi lowezizweni, lentandane bazibulale.
They kill the widow and the sojourner, and murder the fatherless.
7 Kanti bathi: INkosi kayiboni, loNkulunkulu kaJakobe kananzi.
And they say, Jehovah will not see, nor will the God of Jacob consider.
8 Qedisisani, lina bobunyamazana phakathi kwabantu; lani ziphukuphuku, lizahlakanipha nini?
Consider, ye brutish among the people, and ye fools, when will ye be wise?
9 Yena owagxumeka indlebe kezwa yini? Owabumba ilihlo kaboni yini?
He who planted the ear, shall he not hear? He who formed the eye, shall he not see?
10 Yena olaya izizwe kajezisi yini; yena ofundisa umuntu ulwazi, kazi yini?
He who chastises the nations, shall he not correct, even he who teaches man knowledge?
11 INkosi iyayazi imicabango yomuntu ukuthi iyize.
Jehovah knows the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.
12 Nkosi, ubusisiwe lowomuntu omlayayo, omfundisayo okomlayo wakho,
Blessed is the man whom thou chasten, O Jehovah, and teach out of thy law,
13 ukumphumuza ezinsukwini zobubi, kuze kugejelwe omubi umgodi.
that thou may give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit is dug for a wicked man.
14 Ngoba iNkosi kayiyikubalahla abantu bayo, kayiyikulitshiya ilifa layo.
For Jehovah will not cast off his people, nor will he forsake his inheritance.
15 Kodwa isahlulelo sizabuyela ekulungeni, labo bonke abaqotho enhliziyweni bazakulandela.
For judgment shall return to righteousness, and all the upright in heart shall follow it.
16 Ngubani ozangisukumela amelane lababi? Ngubani ozangimela kubenzi bobubi?
Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? Who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?
17 Uba iNkosi ibingesilo usizo lwami, umphefumulo wami ubuzaphosa uhlale ekuthuleni zwi.
Unless Jehovah had been my help, my soul would have soon dwelt in silence.
18 Lapho ngathi: Unyawo lwami luyatshelela, umusa wakho, Nkosi, wangisekela.
When I said, My foot slips, thy loving kindness, O Jehovah, held me up.
19 Ebunengini bemicabango yami engaphakathi kwami induduzo zakho zithokozisa umphefumulo wami.
In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.
20 Isihlalo sobukhosi sobubi singahlanganyela lawe, sibumba inkohlakalo ngomthetho yini?
Shall the throne of wickedness have fellowship with thee, which frames mischief by statute?
21 Bayahlangana ukumelana lomphefumulo wolungileyo, balahla igazi elingelacala.
They gather themselves together against the soul of a righteous man, and condemn innocent blood.
22 Kodwa iNkosi iyinqaba yami, loNkulunkulu wami ulidwala lokuphephela kwami.
But Jehovah has been my high tower, and my God the rock of my refuge.
23 Izaphindisela phezu kwabo ububi babo, ibaqede enkohlakalweni yabo; iNkosi uNkulunkulu wethu izabaquma.
And he has brought upon them their own iniquity, and will cut them off in their own wickedness. Jehovah our God will cut them off.
