1 Nkulunkulu, ungazithuleli; ungathuli, ungathi zwi, Nkulunkulu.
“A song or psalm of Assaph.” O God, take no rest for thyself: be not silent and keep not still, O God!
2 Ngoba, khangela, izitha zakho ziyaxokozela, labakuzondayo baphakamise ikhanda.
For, lo, thy enemies make a tumult, and they that hate thee have lifted up their head.
3 Benzela abantu bakho iseluleko sobuqili, bacebisana bemelene labafihliweyo bakho.
Against thy people they take crafty secret device, and they consult against those whom thou protectest.
4 Bathi: Wozani, sibaqume, bangabi yisizwe, lebizo likaIsrayeli lingabe lisakhunjulwa.
They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; and the name of Israel shall be remembered no more.
5 Ngoba bacebisana nganhliziyonye, benza isivumelwano esimelana lawe;
For they have consulted cordially together; against thee they make a covenant:
6 amathente eEdoma, lamaIshmayeli; iMowabi, lamaHagari;
The tents of Edom, and the Ishmaelites: Moab, and the Hagarenes;
7 iGebali, leAmoni, leAmaleki; amaFilisti kanye labahlali beTire;
Gebal, and 'Ammon, and 'Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;
8 iAshuri layo isizihlanganise labo; bebeyingalo ebantwaneni bakaLothi. (Sela)
Also Asshur is joined with them; they have become an arm unto the children of Lot. (Selah)
9 Yenza kubo njengeMidiyani, njengoSisera, njengoJabini, esifuleni iKishoni.
Do unto them as [unto] Midian; as to Sissera, as to Jabin, at the brook Kishon:
10 Babhubhela eEndori, baba ngumquba womhlabathi.
Who were annihilated at 'En-dor; they became as dung for the ground.
11 Yenza zona izikhulu zabo zibe njengoOrebi lanjengoZebi, lawo wonke amakhosana abo abe njengoZeba lanjengoZalimuna,
Render them, their nobles, like 'Oreb, and like Zeeb; yea, like Zebach and like Zalmunna' all their princes;
12 abathi: Kasizithathele amadlelo kaNkulunkulu abe ngawethu.
Who said, Let us conquer for ourselves the dwellings of God,
13 Nkulunkulu wami, benze babe njengokuhwithwayo, njengamakhoba phambi komoya,
O my God, render them like the thistle-down, like stubble before the wind.
14 njengomlilo utshisa ihlathi, lanjengelangabi lithungela izintaba.
As the fire burneth up a forest, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire:
15 Ngokunjalo baxotshe ngesivunguzane sakho, ubethuse ngesiphepho sakho.
So pursue them with thy storm, and with thy whirlwind do thou terrify them.
16 Gcwalisa ubuso babo ngehlazo, ukuze balidinge ibizo lakho, Nkosi.
Fill their faces with shame, that they may seek thy name, O Lord!
17 Kababe lenhloni bethuke kuze kube nininini, yebo, badunyazwe babhubhe.
Let them be made ashamed and terrified for ever and aye; yea, let them be put to the blush and perish:
18 Ukuze bazi ukuthi nguwe wedwa, obizo lakho nguJehova, oPhezukonke emhlabeni wonke.
That they may know that thou, whose name is the Eternal, art by thyself alone, the Most High over all the earth.
