1 Ngakhalela eNkosini ngelizwi lami, ngelizwi lami eNkosini ngancenga.

“A psalm of David; a prayer, when he was in the cave” I cry unto the LORD with my voice; With my voice to the LORD do I make my supplication.

2 Ngathulula isikhalazo sami phambi kwayo, ngatshengisa ukuhlupheka kwami phambi kwayo.

I pour out my complaint before him; I declare before him my distress.

3 Lapho umoya wami uphela amandla phakathi kwami, wena wayazi indlela yami. Endleleni engihamba ngayo bangifihlele umjibila.

When my spirit is overwhelmed within me, Thou knowest my path! In the way which I walk, they have hid a snare for me.

4 Khangela ngakwesokunene, ubone, kodwa wayengekho ongaziyo; isiphephelo sangehlula, kakho owakhathalela umphefumulo wami.

I look on my right hand, and behold, But no man knoweth me; Refuge faileth me; No one careth for me.

5 Ngakhalela kuwe, Nkosi, ngathi: Wena uyisiphephelo sami, isabelo sami elizweni labaphilayo.

I cry unto thee, O LORD! I say, Thou art my refuge, My portion in the land of the living.

6 Lalela ukukhala kwami, ngoba ngehliselwe phansi kakhulu. Ngikhulula kwabangizingelayo, ngoba balamandla kulami.

Attend to my cry, for I am brought very low; Deliver me from my persecutors, For they prevail against me!

7 Khupha umphefumulo wami entolongweni, ukuze ngidumise ibizo lakho. Abalungileyo bazangibuthanela, ngoba uzangiphatha kuhle kakhulu.

Bring me out of prison, That I may praise thy name! The righteous shall gather around me, When thou shalt show me thy favor.
