1 Khumbula, Nkosi, uDavida, izinhlupheko zakhe zonke,
A SONG OF THE ASCENTS. Remember, YHWH, for David, all his afflictions;
2 ukuthi wafunga eNkosini, wathembisa kuSomandla kaJakobe:
Who has sworn to YHWH, He has vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob:
3 Qotho, kangiyikungena ethenteni lendlu yami, qotho, kangiyikwenyukela ecansini lombheda wami;
“If I enter into the tent of my house, If I go up on the couch of my bed,
4 qotho, kangiyikunika amehlo ami ubuthongo, ukuwozela ezinkopheni zami,
If I give sleep to my eyes, To my eyelids—slumber,
5 ngize ngiyitholele iNkosi indawo, indawo zokuhlala uSomandla kaJakobe.
Until I find a place for YHWH, dwelling places for the Mighty One of Jacob.”
6 Khangela, sakuzwa eEfratha, sakuthola emasimini egusu.
Behold, we have heard it in Ephratah, We have found it in the fields of the forest.
7 Sizangena ezindlini zayo zokuhlala, sikhonze esenabelweni senyawo zayo.
We come into His dwelling places, We bow ourselves at His footstool.
8 Sukuma, Nkosi, uye ekuphumuleni kwakho, wena lomtshokotsho wamandla akho!
Arise, O YHWH, to Your rest, You, and the Ark of Your strength,
9 Abapristi bakho kabembeswe ukulunga, labangcwele bakho bathabe kakhulu.
Your priests put on righteousness, And Your pious ones cry aloud.
10 Ngenxa yenceku yakho uDavida ungafulathelisi ubuso bogcotshiweyo wakho.
For the sake of Your servant David, Do not turn back the face of Your anointed.
11 INkosi yafunga ngeqiniso kuDavida, kayiyikubuyela emuva kilo: Owesithelo sesizalo sakho ngizambeka esihlalweni sakho sobukhosi.
YHWH has sworn truth to David, He does not turn back from it: “Of the fruit of your body, I set on the throne for you.
12 Uba abantwana bakho begcina isivumelwano sami lezifakazelo zami engizabafundisa zona, labantwana babo bazahlala esihlalweni sakho sobukhosi kuze kube nini lanini.
If your sons keep My covenant, And My testimonies that I teach them, Their sons also forever and ever Sit on the throne for you.”
13 Ngoba iNkosi iyikhethile iZiyoni, iyifisile ibe yindawo yayo yokuhlala.
For YHWH has fixed on Zion, He has desired [it] for a seat to Himself,
14 Le yindawo yami yokuphumula kuze kube nini lanini; lapha ngizahlala, ngoba ngiyifisile.
“This [is] My rest forever and ever, Here I sit, for I have desired it.
15 Ngizabusisa kakhulu ukudla kwayo, ngisuthise abayanga bayo ngesinkwa.
I greatly bless her provision, I satisfy her poor [with] bread,
16 Labapristi bayo ngizabembathisa usindiso, labangcwele bayo bazahlabelela kakhulu ngenjabulo.
And I clothe her priests [with] salvation, And her pious ones sing aloud.
17 Lapho ngizahlumisa uphondo lukaDavida; ngimisele ogcotshiweyo wami isibane.
There I cause a horn to spring up for David, I have arranged a lamp for My Anointed.
18 Izitha zakhe ngizazembathisa ihlazo, kodwa phezu kwakhe uzakhazimula umqhele wakhe wobukhosi.
I clothe His enemies [with] shame, And His crown flourishes on Him!”
