1 Ngisenzikini ngakhalela kuwe, Nkosi.
Out of the depths I have cried to you, Adonai.
2 Nkosi, zwana ilizwi lami, indlebe zakho zilalele ilizwi lokuncenga kwami.
Lord, sh'ma ·hear obey· my voice. Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my petitions.
3 Uba wena, Nkosi, uqaphela iziphambeko, Nkosi, ngubani ongema?
If you, Yah, kept a record of depravities (moral evils), Lord, who could stand?
4 Kodwa kuwe kulothethelelo, ukuze wesatshwe.
But there is forgiveness with you, therefore you are feared.
5 Ngiyilindele iNkosi, umphefumulo wami ulindile, lelizwini layo ngiyathemba.
I wait for Adonai. My soul waits. I hope in his word.
6 Umphefumulo wami ulindela iNkosi okwedlula abalindele ukusa, belindele ukusa.
My soul longs for 'Adonay [Lord] more than watchmen long for the morning; more than watchmen for the morning.
7 UIsrayeli kathembele eNkosini; ngoba eNkosini kulothandolomusa, njalo kuyo kulohlengo olunengi.
Israel [God prevails], hope in Adonai, for with Adonai there is chesed ·loving-kindness·. With him is abundant redemption.
8 Yona-ke izahlenga uIsrayeli kuzo zonke iziphambeko zakhe.
He will redeem Israel [God prevails] from all their depravities (moral evils).
