1 INkosi yasikhuluma kuMozisi enkangala yeSinayi ethenteni lenhlangano, ngolokuqala lwenyanga yesibili, ngomnyaka wesibili emva kokuphuma kwabo elizweni leGibhithe, isithi:
And Jehovah spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the tent of meeting, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they came out of the land of Egypt, saying,
2 Thathani inani lonke lenhlangano yonke yabantwana bakoIsrayeli ngensendo zabo, ngezindlu zaboyise, lenani lamabizo, wonke owesilisa, ngamakhanda abo.
Take ye the sum of all the congregation of the sons of Israel, by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, every male, by their polls,
3 Kusukela koleminyaka engamatshumi amabili langaphezulu, bonke abangaphuma ukuya empini koIsrayeli, lizababala ngamabutho abo, wena loAroni.
from twenty years old and upward, all who are able to go forth to war in Israel. Thou and Aaron shall number them by their armies.
4 Kuzakuba lani indoda kuleso lalesosizwe, ileyo laleyo eyinhloko yendlu yaboyise.
And with you there shall be a man of every tribe, each one head of his fathers' house.
5 Lala ngamabizo amadoda azakuma lani. KoRubeni: UElizuri indodana kaShedewuri.
And these are the names of the men who shall stand with you. Of Reuben: Elizur the son of Shedeur.
6 KoSimeyoni: UShelumiyeli indodana kaZurishadayi.
Of Simeon: Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.
7 KoJuda: UNashoni indodana kaAminadaba.
Of Judah: Nahshon the son of Amminadab.
8 KoIsakari: UNethaneli indodana kaZuwari.
Of Issachar: Nethanel the son of Zuar.
9 KoZebuluni: UEliyabi indodana kaHeloni.
Of Zebulun: Eliab the son of Helon.
10 Kubantwana bakoJosefa, koEfrayimi: UElishama indodana kaAmihudi; koManase: UGamaliyeli indodana kaPedazuri.
Of the sons of Joseph, of Ephraim: Elishama the son of Ammihud; of Manasseh: Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.
11 KoBhenjamini: UAbidani indodana kaGideyoni.
Of Benjamin: Abidan the son of Gideoni.
12 KoDani: UAhiyezeri indodana kaAmishadayi.
Of Dan: Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.
13 KoAsheri: UPagiyeli indodana kaOkirani.
Of Asher: Pagiel the son of Ochran.
14 KoGadi: UEliyasafi indodana kaDehuweli.
Of Gad: Eliasaph the son of Deuel.
15 KoNafithali: UAhira indodana kaEnani.
Of Naphtali: Ahira the son of Enan.
16 Yibo ababizwayo benhlangano, iziphathamandla zezizwe zaboyise, inhloko zezinkulungwane zakoIsrayeli.
These are those who were called from the congregation, the rulers of the tribes of their fathers. They were the heads of the thousands of Israel.
17 OMozisi loAroni basebethatha lawomadoda aqanjwe ngamabizo.
And Moses and Aaron took these men who are mentioned by name,

and they assembled all the congregation together on the first day of the second month. And they declared their ancestry after their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, by their polls.
19 Njengokulaya kweNkosi kuMozisi wababala ngokunjalo enkangala yeSinayi.
As Jehovah commanded Moses, so he numbered them in the wilderness of Sinai.
20 Njalo abantwana bakoRubeni, izibulo likaIsrayeli, izizukulwana zabo, ngensendo zabo, ngezindlu zaboyise, ngokwenani lamabizo, ngamakhanda abo, wonke owesilisa kusukela koleminyaka engamatshumi amabili langaphezulu, bonke abangaphuma ukuya empini;
And the sons of Reuben, Israel's firstborn, their generations, by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, by their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go forth to war,
21 labo ababaliweyo kubo, esizweni sakoRubeni, babeyizinkulungwane ezingamatshumi amane lesithupha lamakhulu amahlanu.
those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Reuben, were forty-six thousand and five hundred.
22 Kubantwana bakoSimeyoni, izizukulwana zabo, ngensendo zabo, ngezindlu zaboyise, labo ababalwayo, ngokwenani lamabizo, ngamakhanda abo, wonke owesilisa kusukela koleminyaka engamatshumi amabili langaphezulu, bonke abangaphuma ukuya empini;
Of the sons of Simeon, their generations, by their families, by their fathers' houses, those who were numbered of it, according to the number of the names, by their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go forth to war,
23 labo ababaliweyo kubo, esizweni sakoSimeyoni, babeyizinkulungwane ezingamatshumi amahlanu lesificamunwemunye lamakhulu amathathu.
those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Simeon, were fifty-nine thousand and three hundred.
24 Kubantwana bakoGadi, izizukulwana zabo, ngensendo zabo, ngezindlu zaboyise, ngokwenani lamabizo, kusukela koleminyaka engamatshumi amabili langaphezulu, bonke abangaphuma ukuya empini;
Of the sons of Gad, their generations, by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war,
25 labo ababaliweyo kubo, esizweni sakoGadi, babeyizinkulungwane ezingamatshumi amane lanhlanu lamakhulu ayisithupha lamatshumi amahlanu.
those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Gad, were forty-five thousand six hundred and fifty.
26 Kubantwana bakoJuda, izizukulwana zabo, ngensendo zabo, ngezindlu zaboyise, ngokwenani lamabizo, kusukela koleminyaka engamatshumi amabili langaphezulu, bonke abangaphuma ukuya empini;
Of the sons of Judah, their generations, by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war,
27 labo ababaliweyo kubo, esizweni sakoJuda, babeyizinkulungwane ezingamatshumi ayisikhombisa lane lamakhulu ayisithupha.
those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Judah, were seventy-four thousand and six hundred.
28 Kubantwana bakoIsakari, izizukulwana zabo, ngensendo zabo, ngezindlu zaboyise, ngokwenani lamabizo, kusukela koleminyaka engamatshumi amabili langaphezulu, bonke abangaphuma ukuya empini;

Of the sons of Zebulun, their generations, by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war,
31 labo ababaliweyo kubo, esizweni sakoZebuluni, babeyizinkulungwane ezingamatshumi amahlanu lesikhombisa lamakhulu amane.
those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Zebulun, were fifty-seven thousand and four hundred.
32 Kubantwana bakoJosefa, kubantwana bakoEfrayimi, izizukulwana zabo, ngensendo zabo, ngezindlu zaboyise, ngokwenani lamabizo, kusukela koleminyaka engamatshumi amabili langaphezulu, bonke abangaphuma ukuya empini;

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Ephraim, were forty thousand and five hundred;
34 Kubantwana bakoManase, izizukulwana zabo, ngensendo zabo, ngezindlu zaboyise, ngokwenani lamabizo, kusukela koleminyaka engamatshumi amabili langaphezulu, bonke abangaphuma ukuya empini;
of the sons of Manasseh, their generations, by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war,
35 labo ababaliweyo kubo, esizweni sakoManase, babeyizinkulungwane ezingamatshumi amathathu lambili lamakhulu amabili.
those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Manasseh, were thirty-two thousand and two hundred.
36 Kubantwana bakoBhenjamini, izizukulwana zabo, ngensendo zabo, ngezindlu zaboyise, ngokwenani lamabizo, kusukela koleminyaka engamatshumi amabili langaphezulu, bonke abangaphuma ukuya empini;
Of the sons of Benjamin, their generations, by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war,
37 labo ababaliweyo kubo, esizweni sakoBhenjamini, babeyizinkulungwane ezingamatshumi amathathu lanhlanu lamakhulu amane.
those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Benjamin, were thirty-five thousand and four hundred.
38 Kubantwana bakoDani, izizukulwana zabo, ngensendo zabo, ngezindlu zaboyise, ngokwenani lamabizo, kusukela koleminyaka engamatshumi amabili langaphezulu, bonke abangaphuma ukuya empini;
Of the sons of Dan, their generations, by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war,
39 labo ababaliweyo kubo, esizweni sakoDani, babeyizinkulungwane ezingamatshumi ayisithupha lambili lamakhulu ayisikhombisa.
those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Dan, were sixty-two thousand and seven hundred.
40 Kubantwana bakoAsheri, izizukulwana zabo, ngensendo zabo, ngezindlu zaboyise, ngokwenani lamabizo, kusukela koleminyaka engamatshumi amabili langaphezulu, bonke abangaphuma ukuya empini;
Of the sons of Asher, their generations, by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war,
41 labo ababaliweyo kubo, esizweni sakoAsheri, babeyizinkulungwane ezingamatshumi amane lanye lamakhulu amahlanu.
those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Asher, were forty-one thousand and five hundred.
42 Abantwana bakoNafithali, izizukulwana zabo, ngensendo zabo, ngezindlu zaboyise, ngokwenani lamabizo, kusukela koleminyaka engamatshumi amabili langaphezulu, bonke abangaphuma ukuya empini;
Of the sons of Naphtali, their generations, by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war,
43 labo ababaliweyo kubo, esizweni sakoNafithali, babeyizinkulungwane ezingamatshumi amahlanu lantathu lamakhulu amane.
those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Naphtali, were fifty-three thousand and four hundred.
44 Yibo laba ababalwayo, oMozisi loAroni abababalayo, leziphathamandla zakoIsrayeli, amadoda alitshumi lambili, yileso laleso singesendlu yaboyise.
These are those who were numbered, whom Moses and Aaron numbered, and the rulers of Israel, being twelve men. They were each one for his fathers' house.
45 Babenjalo bonke ababalwayo babantwana bakoIsrayeli, ngezindlu zaboyise, kusukela koleminyaka engamatshumi amabili langaphezulu, bonke abangaphuma ukuya empini koIsrayeli.
So all those who were numbered of the sons of Israel by their fathers' houses, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go forth to war in Israel,
46 Ngakho bonke ababalwayo babeyizinkulungwane ezingamakhulu ayisithupha lantathu lamakhulu amahlanu lamatshumi amahlanu.
even all those who were numbered were six hundred three thousand and five hundred and fifty.
47 Kodwa amaLevi, ngezindlu zaboyise, kawabalwanga phakathi kwabo.
But the Levites according to the tribe of their fathers were not numbered among them.
48 Ngoba iNkosi yayikhulume kuMozisi yathi:
For Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
49 Kuphela isizwe sakoLevi ungasibali, ungathathi inani lonke laso phakathi kwabantwana bakoIsrayeli;
Only the tribe of Levi thou shall not number, neither shall thou take the sum of them among the sons of Israel,
50 kodwa wena, misa amaLevi phezu kwethabhanekele lobufakazi, laphezu kwazo zonke izitsha zalo, laphezu kwakho konke okwalo. Wona azathwala ithabhanekele lazo zonke izitsha zalo; futhi wona azakhonza kulo, amise amathente awo azingelezele ithabhanekele.
but appoint thou the Levites over the tabernacle of the testimony, and over all the furniture of it, and over all that belongs to it. They shall bear the tabernacle, and all the furniture of it, and they shall minister to it, and shall encamp round about the tabernacle.
51 Lekusukeni kwethabhanekele amaLevi azalidiliza, lekumisweni kwethabhanekele amaLevi azalimisa. Lowemzini osondelayo uzabulawa.
And when the tabernacle sets forward, the Levites shall take it down, and when the tabernacle is to be pitched, the Levites shall set it up. And the stranger who comes near shall be put to death.
52 Abantwana bakoIsrayeli bazamisa-ke amathente abo, kube ngulowo lalowo enkambeni yakhe, langulowo lalowo ngophawu lwakhe, ngokwamabutho abo.
And the sons of Israel shall pitch their tents, every man by his own camp, and every man by his own standard, according to their armies.
53 Kodwa amaLevi azamisa amathente awo azingeleze ithabhanekele lobufakazi, ukuze kungabi lolaka phezu kwenhlangano yabantwana bakoIsrayeli; amaLevi azagcina-ke umlindo wethabhanekele lobufakazi.
But the Levites shall encamp round about the tabernacle of the testimony, that there be no wrath upon the congregation of the sons of Israel. And the Levites shall keep the charge of the tabernacle of the testimony.
54 Abantwana bakoIsrayeli basebesenza njengakho konke iNkosi eyayimlaye khona uMozisi, benza njalo.
Thus did the sons of Israel. According to all that Jehovah commanded Moses, so they did.
