1 Kwasekusithi umduli usuwakhiwe, sengimisile izivalo, abalindi bamasango labahlabeleli lamaLevi sebebekiwe,
Now it came to pass, when the wall was built, and I had set up the doors, and the porters and the singers and the Levites were appointed,
2 ngalaya uHanani umfowethu loHananiya umbusi wenqaba mayelana leJerusalema, ngoba wayenjengomuntu othembekileyo lowesaba uNkulunkulu okwedlula abanengi.
That I gave my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the ruler of the palace, charge over Jerusalem: for he was a faithful man, and feared God above many.
3 Ngasengisithi kibo: Amasango eJerusalema kangavulwa lize litshise ilanga; besemi kabavale izivalo banxibe. Njalo umise abalindi kubahlali beJerusalema, ngulowo lalowo emlindweni wakhe, njalo ngulowo maqondana lendlu yakhe.
And I said to them, Let not the gates of Jerusalem be opened until the sun shall be hot; and while they stand by, let them shut the doors, and bar them: and appoint soldiers of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, every one in his watch, and every one to be opposite his house.

Now the city was large and great: but the people in it were few, and the houses were not built.

And my God put into my heart to gather the nobles, and the rulers, and the people, that they might be reckoned by genealogy. And I found a family record of the genealogy of them who came up at the first, and found written in it,

These are the children of the province, that went up out of the captivity, of those that had been carried away, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away, and came again to Jerusalem and to Judah, every one to his city;

11 Abantwana bakoPahathi-Mowabi, babantwana bakoJeshuwa loJowabi: Izinkulungwane ezimbili lamakhulu ayisificaminwembili letshumi lesificaminwembili.

The children of Shephatiah, the children of Hattil, the children of Pochereth of Zebaim, the children of Amon.
60 Wonke amaNethini labantwana benceku zikaSolomoni: Amakhulu amathathu lamatshumi ayisificamunwemunye lambili.
All the Nethinims, and the children of Solomon’s servants, were three hundred and ninety and two.
61 Laba ngabenyuka bevela eTeli-Mela, iTeli-Harisha, iKerubi, iAdoni, leImeri, kodwa babengelakutshengisa indlu yaboyise lenzalo yabo, uba bavela koIsrayeli yini.
And these were they who went up also from Telmelah, Telharesha, Cherub, Addon, and Immer: but they could not show their father’s house, nor their seed, whether they were of Israel.
62 Abantwana bakoDelaya, abantwana bakoTobiya, abantwana bakoNekoda: Amakhulu ayisithupha lamatshumi amane lambili.
The children of Delaiah, the children of Tobiah, the children of Nekoda, six hundred and forty and two.
63 Lakubapristi: Abantwana bakoHabaya, abantwana bakoHakozi, abantwana bakoBarizilayi, owayethethe emadodakazini kaBarizilayi umGileyadi ukuba ngumkakhe, wasebizwa ngebizo lawo.
And of the priests: the children of Habaiah, the children of Koz, the children of Barzillai, who took one of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite for a wife, and was called after their name.
64 Laba badinga ukubhalwa kwabo oluhlwini lwababhaliweyo ngezizukulwana, kodwa kakutholakalanga; basebekhutshwa ebupristini njengabangcolileyo.
These sought their family record among those that were reckoned by genealogy, but it was not found: therefore were they, as polluted, put from the priesthood.
65 Umbusi wasesithi kubo bangadli okwezingcwelengcwele, kuze kusukume umpristi oleUrimi leThumimi.
And the Tirshatha said to them, that they should not eat of the most holy things, till there should stand up a priest with Urim and Thummim.
66 Ibandla lonke lindawonye lalizinkulungwane ezingamatshumi amane lambili lamakhulu amathathu lamatshumi ayisithupha,
The whole congregation together was forty and two thousand three hundred and sixty,
67 ngaphandle kwenceku zabo lencekukazi zabo; lezi zazizinkulungwane eziyisikhombisa lamakhulu amathathu lamatshumi amathathu lesikhombisa; njalo babelabahlabeleli labahlabelelikazi abangamakhulu amabili lamatshumi amane lanhlanu.
Besides their male and female servants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred and thirty and seven: and they had two hundred and forty and five men and women singers.
68 Amabhiza abo, amakhulu ayisikhombisa lamatshumi amathathu lesithupha; imbongolo zabo, amakhulu amabili lamatshumi amane lanhlanu;
Their horses, seven hundred and thirty and six: their mules, two hundred and forty and five:
69 amakamela, amakhulu amane lamatshumi amathathu lanhlanu; obabhemi, inkulungwane eziyisithupha lamakhulu ayisikhombisa lamatshumi amabili.
Their camels, four hundred and thirty and five: six thousand seven hundred and twenty donkeys.
70 Ezinye-ke zenhloko zaboyise zanikela emsebenzini. Umbusi wanikela kokuligugu inhlamvu zegolide eziyinkulungwane, imiganu yokufafaza engamatshumi amahlanu, izigqoko zabapristi ezingamakhulu amahlanu lamatshumi amathathu.
And some of the heads of the fathers’ houses gave to the work. The Tirshatha gave to the treasury a thousand drams of gold, fifty basins, five hundred and thirty priests’ garments.
71 Lezinye zezinhloko zaboyise zanikela kokuligugu komsebenzi inhlamvu zegolide ezizinkulungwane ezingamatshumi amabili lamamane esiliva azinkulungwane ezilikhulu letshumi.
And some of the heads of the fathers’ houses gave to the treasury of the work twenty thousand drams of gold, and two thousand and two hundred pounds of silver.
72 Lalokho abaseleyo babantu abakunikelayo kwakuzinhlamvu zegolide ezizinkulungwane ezingamatshumi amabili lamamane esiliva azinkulungwane ezilikhulu lezigqoko zabapristi ezingamatshumi ayisithupha lesikhombisa.
And that which the rest of the people gave was twenty thousand drams of gold, and two thousand pounds of silver, and sixty and seven priests’ garments.
73 Abapristi lamaLevi labalindimasango labahlabeleli labanye babantu lamaNethini loIsrayeli wonke basebehlala emizini yabo. Kwathi inyanga yesikhombisa isifikile, abantwana bakoIsrayeli babesemizini yabo.
So the priests, and the Levites, and the porters, and the singers, and some of the people, and the Nethinims, and all Israel, dwelt in their cities; and when the seventh month came, the children of Israel were in their cities.
