1 Kwasekusondela inhloko zaboyise bamaLevi kuEleyazare umpristi lakuJoshuwa indodana kaNuni lakuzo inhloko zaboyise bezizwe zabantwana bakoIsrayeli,

And the heads of the fathers of the Levites draw near to Eleazar the priest, and to Joshua son of Nun, and to the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the sons of Israel,

2 bakhuluma kubo eShilo elizweni leKhanani, besithi: INkosi yalaya ngesandla sikaMozisi ukusinika imizi yokuhlala, lamadlelo ayo ezifuyo zethu.

and they speak to them in Shiloh, in the land of Canaan, saying, “YHWH commanded by the hand of Moses to give to us cities to dwell in, and their outskirts for our livestock.”

3 Ngakho abantwana bakoIsrayeli banika amaLevi okwelifa labo ngokomlayo weNkosi, limizi lamadlelo ayo.

And the sons of Israel give to the Levites, out of their inheritance, at the command of YHWH, these cities and their outskirts:

4 Kwasekuvela inkatho yensendo zamaKohathi. Abantwana bakoAroni umpristi, abavela kumaLevi, ngenkatho esizweni sakoJuda lesizweni sakoSimeyoni lesizweni sakoBhenjamini, basebesiba lemizi elitshumi lantathu.

and the lot goes out for the families of the Kohathite, and there are for the sons of Aaron the priest (of the Levites), out of the tribe of Judah, and out of the tribe of Simeon, and out of the tribe of Benjamin, thirteen cities by lot,

5 Labaseleyo kubantwana bakaKohathi, ngenkatho ensendweni zesizwe sakoEfrayimi lesizweni sakoDani lengxenyeni eyodwa kwezimbili yesizwe sakoManase, baba lemizi elitshumi.

and for the sons of Kohath who are left, out of the families of the tribe of Ephraim, and out of the tribe of Dan, and out of the half-tribe of Manasseh, ten cities by lot.

6 Labantwana bakoGerishoni, ngenkatho ensendweni zesizwe sakoIsakari lesizweni sakoAsheri lesizweni sakoNafithali lengxenyeni eyodwa kwezimbili yesizwe sakoManase eBashani, baba lemizi elitshumi lantathu.

And for the sons of Gershon, out of the families of the tribe of Issachar, and out of the tribe of Asher, and out of the tribe of Naphtali, and out of the half-tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, [are] thirteen cities by lot.

7 Abantwana bakoMerari ngokwensendo zabo, esizweni sakoRubeni lesizweni sakoGadi lesizweni sakoZebuluni, baba lemizi elitshumi lambili.

For the sons of Merari, for their families, out of the tribe of Reuben, and out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zebulun, [are] twelve cities.

8 Labantwana bakoIsrayeli banika amaLevi le imizi lamadlelo ayo ngenkatho, njengokulaya kweNkosi ngesandla sikaMozisi.

And the sons of Israel give these cities and their outskirts to the Levites, as YHWH commanded by the hand of Moses, by lot.

9 Basebenika esizweni sabantwana bakoJuda lesizweni sabantwana bakoSimeyoni le imizi, eqanjwa ngebizo,

And they give out of the tribe of the sons of Judah, and out of the tribe of the sons of Simeon, these cities which are called by name;

10 eyayingeyabantwana bakoAroni, bevela kunsendo zamaKohathi ebantwaneni bakoLevi, ngoba baba lenkatho yokuqala.

and they are for the sons of Aaron, of the families of the Kohathite, of the sons of Levi, for the first lot has been theirs;

11 Basebebanika iKiriyathi-Arba, uyise kaAnoki, okuyiHebroni, ezintabeni zakoJuda lamadlelo inhlangothi zayo zonke.

and they give to them the city of Arba father of Anak (it [is] Hebron), in the hill-country of Judah, and its outskirts around it;

12 Kodwa insimu yomuzi lemizana yawo bakunika uKalebi indodana kaJefune ukuba ngeyakhe.

and they have given the field of the city and its villages to Caleb son of Jephunneh for his possession.

13 Ngakho banika abantwana bakoAroni umpristi umuzi wokuphephela wombulali, iHebroni, lamadlelo ayo, leLibhina lamadlelo ayo,

And to the sons of Aaron the priest they have given the city of refuge [for] the manslayer, Hebron and its outskirts, and Libnah and its outskirts,

14 leJatiri lamadlelo ayo, leEshithemowa lamadlelo ayo,

and Jattir and its outskirts, and Eshtemoa and its outskirts,

15 leHoloni lamadlelo ayo, leDebiri lamadlelo ayo,

and Holon and its outskirts, and Debir and its outskirts,

16 leAyini lamadlelo ayo, leJuta lamadlelo ayo, leBeti-Shemeshi lamadlelo ayo; imizi eyisificamunwemunye kulezizizwe ezimbili.

and Ain and its outskirts, and Juttah and its outskirts, Beth-Shemesh and its outskirts; nine cities out of these two tribes.

17 Lesizweni sakoBhenjamini: IGibeyoni lamadlelo ayo, iGeba lamadlelo ayo,

And out of the tribe of Benjamin, Gibeon and its outskirts, Geba and its outskirts,

18 iAnathothi lamadlelo ayo, leAlimoni lamadlelo ayo: Imizi emine.

Anathoth and its outskirts, and Almon and its outskirts—four cities;

19 Yonke imizi yabantwana bakoAroni, abapristi, yayilemizi elitshumi lantathu lamadlelo ayo.

all the cities of the sons of Aaron the priests, [are] thirteen cities and their outskirts.

20 Lensendo zabantwana bakoKohathi, amaLevi, asalayo ebantwaneni bakoKohathi, baba lemizi yenkatho yabo esizweni sakoEfrayimi.

And for the families of the sons of Kohath, the Levites, who are left of the sons of Kohath, even the cities of their lot are of the tribe of Ephraim;

21 Basebebanika umuzi wokuphephela umbulali, iShekema lamadlelo ayo entabeni yakoEfrayimi, leGezeri lamadlelo ayo,

and they give to them the city of refuge [for] the manslayer, Shechem and its outskirts, in the hill-country of Ephraim, and Gezer and its outskirts,

22 leKibizayimi lamadlelo ayo, leBhethi-Horoni lamadlelo ayo: Imizi emine.

and Kibzaim and its outskirts, and Beth-Horon and its outskirts—four cities.

23 Lesizweni sakoDani iEliteke lamadlelo ayo, iGibethoni lamadlelo ayo,

And out of the tribe of Dan, Eltekeh and its outskirts, Gibbethon and its outskirts,

24 iAjaloni lamadlelo ayo, iGathi-Rimoni lamadlelo ayo: Imizi emine.

Aijalon and its outskirts, Gath-Rimmon and its outskirts—four cities.

25 Lengxenyeni eyodwa kwezimbili yesizwe sakoManase, iThahanakhi lamadlelo ayo, leGathi-Rimoni lamadlelo ayo: Imizi emibili.

And out of the half-tribe of Manasseh, Taanach and its outskirts, and Gath-Rimmon and its outskirts—two cities;

26 Yonke imizi yensendo zabantwana bakoKohathi abaseleyo yayilitshumi lamadlelo ayo.

all the cities [are] ten and their outskirts, for the families of the sons of Kohath who are left.

27 Lakubantwana bakoGerishoni, bensendo zamaLevi, kungxenye yesizwe sakoManase, iGolani eBashani, umuzi wokuphephela umbulali, lamadlelo ayo, leBheyeshithera lamadlelo ayo: Imizi emibili.

And for the sons of Gershon, of the families of the Levites, out of the half-tribe of Manasseh, the city of refuge [for] the manslayer, Golan in Bashan and its outskirts, and Beeshterah and its outskirts—two cities.

28 Lesizweni sakoIsakari, iKishiyoni lamadlelo ayo, iDaberathi lamadlelo ayo,

And out of the tribe of Issachar, Kishon and its outskirts, Dabarath and its outskirts,

29 iJarimuthi lamadlelo ayo, iEni-Ganimi lamadlelo ayo: Imizi emine.

Jarmuth and its outskirts, En-Gannim and its outskirts—four cities.

30 Lesizweni sakoAsheri, iMishali lamadlelo ayo, iAbidoni lamadlelo ayo,

And out of the tribe of Asher, Mishal and its outskirts, Abdon and its outskirts,

31 iHelkathi lamadlelo ayo, leRehobi lamadlelo ayo: Imizi emine.

Helkath and its outskirts, and Rehob and its outskirts—four cities.

32 Lesizweni sakoNafithali, iKedeshi eGalili, umuzi wokuphephela umbulali, lamadlelo ayo, leHamothi-Dori lamadlelo ayo, leKaritani lamadlelo ayo: Imizi emithathu.

And out of the tribe of Naphtali, the city of refuge [for] the manslayer, Kedesh in Galilee and its outskirts, and Hammoth-Dor and its outskirts, and Kartan and its outskirts—three cities;

33 Yonke imizi yamaGerishoni ngokwensendo zawo yayiyimizi elitshumi lantathu lamadlelo ayo.

all the cities of the Gershonite, for their families, [are] thirteen cities and their outskirts.

34 Lensendo zabantwana bakoMerari, amaLevi aseleyo, zaba leJokineyamu esizweni sakoZebuluni lamadlelo ayo, leKarita lamadlelo ayo,

And for the families of the sons of Merari, the Levites, who are left, [are, ] out of the tribe of Zebulun, Jokneam and its outskirts, Kartah and its outskirts,

35 iDimina lamadlelo ayo, iNahalali lamadlelo ayo: Imizi emine.

Dimnah and its outskirts, Nahalal and its outskirts—four cities.

36 Lesizweni sakoRubeni, iBezeri lamadlelo ayo, leJahaza lamadlelo ayo,

And out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer and its outskirts, and Jahazah and its outskirts,

37 iKedemothi lamadlelo ayo, leMefahathi lamadlelo ayo: Imizi emine.

Kedemoth and its outskirts, and Mephaath and its outskirts—four cities.

38 Lesizweni sakoGadi, iRamothi eGileyadi, umuzi wokuphephela umbulali, lamadlelo ayo, leMahanayimi lamadlelo ayo,

And out of the tribe of Gad, the city of refuge [for] the manslayer, Ramoth in Gilead and its outskirts, and Mahanaim and its outskirts,

39 iHeshiboni lamadlelo ayo, iJazeri lamadlelo ayo: Imizi emine isiyonke.

Heshbon and its outskirts, Jazer and its outskirts—four cities [in] all.

40 Yonke imizi yayingeyabantwana bakoMerari, ngokwensendo zabo, abaseleyo ensendweni zamaLevi. Lenkatho yabo yayiyimizi elitshumi lambili.

All the cities for the sons of Merari, for their families, who are left of the families of the Levites—their lot is twelve cities.

41 Yonke imizi yamaLevi phakathi kwelifa labantwana bakoIsrayeli yayiyimizi engamatshumi amane lesificaminwembili lamadlelo ayo.

All the cities of the Levites in the midst of the possession of the sons of Israel [are] forty-eight cities, and their outskirts.

42 Le imizi, lowo lalowo wawulamadlelo awo inhlangothi zawo zonke. Kwakunjalo kuleyo yonke imizi.

These cities are each city and its outskirts around it; so to all these cities.

43 INkosi yasinika uIsrayeli ilizwe lonke eyafunga ukubanika lona oyise; basebesidla ilifa lalo bahlala kulo.

And YHWH gives to Israel the whole of the land which He has sworn to give to their fathers, and they possess it, and dwell in it;

44 INkosi yasibanika ukuphumula inhlangothi zonke njengokufunga kwayo konke kuboyise. Kakumanga muntu phambi kwabo kuzo zonke izitha zabo. INkosi yazinikela izitha zonke zabo esandleni sabo.

and YHWH gives rest to them all around, according to all that which He has sworn to their fathers, and there has not stood a man in their presence of all their enemies, YHWH has given the whole of their enemies into their hand;

45 Kakwehlulekanga lalutho lwayo yonke into enhle iNkosi eyayikhuluma kuyo indlu kaIsrayeli; konke kwenzeka.

there has not fallen a thing of all the good thing which YHWH spoke to the house of Israel—the whole has come.
