1 Lenkatho yesizwe sabantwana bakoJuda ngokwensendo zabo yayisemngceleni weEdoma, inkangala yeZini ngeningizimu ephethelweni eningizimu.

And the lot for the tribe of the children of Judah after their families came by the border of Edom, with the wilderness of Zin, southward, as the uttermost southern boundary.

2 Lomngcele wabo weningizimu wawusuka ephethelweni loLwandle lweTshwayi, kusukela ethekwini elikhangela eningizimu.

And their southern boundary was from the end of the salt sea, from the bay that bendeth southward:

3 Waphuma waya eningizimu emqansweni weAkirabimi, wedlulela eZini, wenyuka usuka eningizimu kusiya eKadeshi-Bhaneya, wedlulele eHezironi, wenyukele eAdari, uphendukele eKarika,

And it went out to the south of the heights of 'Akrabbim, and passed along to Zin, and ascended up on the south side unto Kadesh-barnea, and passed along to Chezron, and went up to Adar, and fetched a compass to Karka';

4 wedlulele eAzimoni, uphumele esifuleni seGibhithe; lokuphuma komngcele kwakuselwandle. Lo uzakuba ngumngcele wenu eningizimu.

And it passed on toward 'Azmon, and went out unto the river of Egypt; and the terminations of the boundary were at the sea: this shall be your southern boundary.

5 Njalo umngcele wempumalanga wawuluLwandle lweTshwayi, kusiya ephethelweni leJordani. Lomngcele ehlangothini lwenyakatho wasukela ethekwini lolwandle, kusukela ephethelweni leJordani.

And the east boundary was the salt sea, unto the end of the Jordan. And the boundary in the north quarter was from the bay of the sea at the end of the Jordan;

6 Lomngcele wenyukela eBeti-Hogila, wedlula kusuka enyakatho kusiya eBeti-Araba; lomngcele wenyukela elitsheni likaBohani indodana kaRubeni.

And the boundary went up to Beth-choglah, and passed along by the north of Beth'arabah; and the boundary went up to Ebenbohan the son of Reuben;

7 Lomngcele wenyukela eDebiri kusuka esihotsheni seAkori, usiya enyakatho ukhangele eGiligali, omaqondana lomqanso weAdumimi, ongeningizimu kwesifula. Lomngcele wedlula usiya emanzini eEni-Shemeshi, lokuphuma kwawo kwakuseEni-Rogeli.

And the boundary went up toward Debir from the Valley of 'Achor, and at the north it bent toward Gilgal, that is opposite the heights of Adummim, which is on the south side of the valley; and the boundary passed toward the waters of 'En-shemesh, and its terminations were at En-rogel;

8 Lomngcele wenyuka ngesihotsha sendodana kaHinomu usiya ehlangothini lwamaJebusi eningizimu, okuyiJerusalema. Lomngcele wenyukela engqongeni yentaba ephambi kwesihotsha seHinomu entshonalanga, elisephethelweni lesihotsha seziqhwaga enyakatho.

And the boundary went up to the valley of the son of Hinnom unto the south side of the Jebusite, the same is Jerusalem; and the boundary went up to the top of the mount that lieth before the valley of Hinnom westward, which is at the end of the valley of Rephaim northward;

9 Lomngcele wagoba usuka engqongeni yentaba kuze kube semthonjeni wamanzi eNefitowa, waphumela emizini yentaba yeEfroni. Lomngcele wagoba usiya eBhahala, okuyiKiriyathi-Jeyarimi.

And the boundary extended from the top of the mount unto the spring of the waters of Nephtoach, and went out to the cities of mount 'Ephron; and the boundary extended to Ba'alah, which is Kiryath-ye'arim;

10 Lomngcele wabhoda usuka eBhahala ngentshonalanga waya entabeni yeSeyiri, wedlulele eceleni kwentaba yeJeyarimi, eyiKesaloni, wehlele eBeti-Shemeshi, wedlule eThiminathi.

And the boundary compassed from Ba'alah westward unto mount Seir, and passed along unto the side of mount Ye'arim, which is Kessalon, on the north side, and went down to Beth-shemesh, and passed on to Timnah;

11 Lomngcele waphuma uye eceleni kweEkhironi enyakatho; lomngcele wagoba uye eShikeroni, wedlula intaba yeBhahala, waphumela eJabineli; lokuphuma komngcele kwakuselwandle.

And the boundary went out unto the side of 'Ekron northward; and the boundary extended to Shikron, and passed along to the mount of Ba'alah, and went out unto Yabneel; and the terminations of the boundary were at the sea.

12 Lomngcele wentshonalanga wawululwandle olukhulu lokhumbi. Lo ngumngcele wabantwana bakoJuda inhlangothi zonke ngokwensendo zabo.

And the west boundary was by the great sea, and the coast thereof. This is the boundary of the children of Judah round about according to their families.

13 Wasemupha uKalebi indodana kaJefune isabelo phakathi kwabantwana bakoJuda, ngokomlayo weNkosi kuJoshuwa, iKiriyathi-Arba, uyise kaAnaki, eyiHebroni.

And unto Caleb the son of Yephunneh he gave as a portion among the children of Judah, according to the order of the Lord to Joshua, Kiryath-arba' the father of 'Anak, which is Hebron.

14 UKalebi wasexotsha elifeni amadodana amathathu kaAnaki asuke lapho, uSheshayi loAhimani loTalimayi, abantwana bakaAnaki.

And Caleb drove out from there the three sons of 'Anak, Sheshai, and Achiman, and Talmai, the children of 'Anak.

15 Wasesenyuka esuka lapho waya kwabahlali beDebiri. Lebizo leDebiri kuqala laliyiKiriyathi-Seferi.

And he went up from there to the inhabitants of Debir; and the name of Debir before was Kiryath-sepher.

16 UKalebi wasesithi: Lowo otshaya iKiriyathi-Seferi, ayithumbe, ngizamupha uAkisa indodakazi yami abe ngumkakhe.

And Caleb said, He that will smite Kiryath-sepher, and capture it, to him will I give 'Achsah my daughter for wife.

17 UOthiniyeli indodana kaKenazi, umnawakhe kaKalebi, waseyithumba; wasemnika uAkisa indodakazi yakhe ukuba ngumkakhe.

And 'Othniel the son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb, captured it; and he gave him 'Achsah his daughter for wife.

18 Kwasekusithi ekufikeni kwakhe wamkhuthaza ukuthi acele kuyise insimu; wasesehla kubabhemi, uKalebi wasesithi kuye: Ukhala ngani?

And it came to pass, as she came thither, that she persuaded him to ask of her father a field: and she alighted from her ass; and Caleb said unto her, What aileth thee?

19 Wasesithi: Ngipha isibusiso. Njengoba ungiphe ilizwe elomileyo, ngipha njalo imithombo yamanzi. Wasemnika imithombo engaphezulu lemithombo engaphansi.

And she said, Give me a blessing; for a dry land hast thou given me: give me then also springs of water. And he gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.

20 Leli yilifa lesizwe sabantwana bakoJuda ngokwensendo zabo.

This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Judah according to their families.

21 Lemizi esukela ekucineni kwesizwe sabantwana bakoJuda kusiya emngceleni weEdoma yile: IKabhiseyeli leEderi leJaguri

And the cities of the boundary line of the tribe of the children of Judah toward the border of Edom, on the south, were Kabzeel, and 'Eder, and Yagur,

And Kinah, and Dimonah, and 'Ad'adah,

23 leKedeshi leHazori leIthinani,

And Kedesh, and Chazor, and Yithnan,

24 iZifi leTelema leBeyalothi

Ziph, and Telem, and Be'aloth,

25 leHazori-Hadatha leKeriyothi, iHezironi okuyiHazori,

And Chazor-chadattah, and Keriyoth-chezron, which is Chazor,

26 iAmama leShema leMolada

Amam, and Shema', and Moladah,

27 leHazari-Gada leHeshimoni leBeti-Peleti

And Chazar-gaddah, and Cheshmon, and Beth-palet,

28 leHazari-Shuwali leBherishebha leBiziyothiya,

And Chazar-shual, and Beer-sheba, and Bizyotheyah,

29 iBhahala leIyimi leEzema

Ba'alah, and 'Iyim, and 'Azem,

30 leElitoladi leKesili leHorma

And Eltolad, and Kessil, and Chormah,

31 leZikilagi leMadimana leSansana

And Ziklag, and Madmannah, and Sansannah,

32 leLebayothi leShilihimi leEni leRimoni. Yonke imizi ingamatshumi amabili lesificamunwemunye lemizana yayo.

And Lebaoth, and Shilchim, and 'Ayin, and Rimmon: in all twenty and nine cities, with their villages.

33 Esihotsheni: IEshitawoli leZora leAshina

And in the lowlands, Eshtaol, and Zor'ah, and Ashnah.

34 leZanowa leEni-Ganimi, iTapuwa leEnama,

And Zanoach, and 'En-gannim, Tappuach, and 'Enam,

35 iJarimuthi leAdulamu, iSoko leAzeka

Yarmuth, and 'Adullam, Sochoh, and 'Azekah,

36 leShaharayimi leAdithayimi leGedera leGederothayimi; imizi elitshumi lane lemizana yayo.

And Sha'arayim, and 'Adithayim, and Gederah, and Gede-rothayim: fourteen cities with their villages.

37 IZenani leHadasha leMigidali-Gadi

Zenan, and Chadashah, and Migdalgad,

38 leDileyani leMizipa leJokhitheyeli,

And Dil'an, and Mizpeh, and Yoktheel,

39 iLakishi leBhozikhathi leEgiloni

Lachish, and Bozkath, and 'Eglon,

40 leKhabhoni leLahimasa leKitilishi

And Cabbon, and Lachmass, and Kithlish,

41 leGederothi, iBeti-Dagoni, leNahama, leMakeda; imizi elitshumi lesithupha lemizana yayo.

And Gederoth, Beth-dagon, and Na'amah, and Makkedah: sixteen cities with their villages.

42 ILibhina leEtheri leAshani

Libnah, and 'Ether, and 'Ashan,

43 leJifitha leAshina leNezibhi

And Yiphtach, and Ashnah, and Nezib,

44 leKeyila leAkizibi leMaresha; imizi eyisificamunwemunye lemizana yayo.

And Ke'ilah, and Achzib, and Mareshah: nine cities with their villages.

45 IEkhironi lemizi yayo lemizana yayo.

'Ekron, with its towns and its villages:

46 Kusukela eEkhironi kusiya elwandle, yonke eseceleni kweAshidodi lemizana yayo:

From 'Ekron even unto the sea, all that lay alongside of Ashdod, with their villages.

47 IAshidodi, imizi yayo lemizana yayo; iGaza, imizi yayo lemizana yayo; kusiya esifuleni seGibhithe, lolwandle olukhulu, lomngcele.

Ashdod with its towns and its villages, Gazzah, with its towns and its villages, up to the brook of Egypt, and the great sea, and its territory.

48 Lezintabeni: IShamiri leJatiri leSoko

And in the mountains, Shamir, and Yattir, and Sochoh,

49 leDana leKiriyathi-Sana okuyiDebiri,

And Dannah and Kiryath-sannah, which is Debir,

50 leAnabi leEshithemo leAnimi

And 'Anab, and Eshtemoh, and 'Anim.

51 leGosheni leHoloni leGilo; imizi elitshumi lanye lemizana yayo.

And Goshen, and Cholon, and Giloh: eleven cities with their villages.

52 IArabi leDuma leEshani

Arab, and Dumah, and Esh'an,

53 leJanimi leBeti-Tapuwa leAfeka

And Vanum, and Beth-tappuach, and Aphekah,

54 leHumta leKiriyathi-Arba, okuyiHebroni, leZiyori; imizi eyisificamunwemunye lemizana yayo.

And Chumtah, and Kiryath-arba', which is Hebron, and Zi'or: nine cities with their villages.

55 IMayoni, iKharmeli leZifi leJuta

Ma'on, Carmel, and Ziph, and Yutah,

56 leJizereyeli leJokideyama leZanoya,

And Yizre'el, and Yokde'am, and Zanoach,

57 iKayini, iGibeya leTimina; imizi elitshumi lemizana yayo.

Kayin, Gib'ah, and Timnah: ten cities with their villages.

58 IHalihuli, iBeti-Zuri leGedori

Chatchul, Beth-zur, and Gedor,

59 leMarathi leBeti-Anothi leElitekoni; imizi eyisithupha lemizana yayo.

And Ma'arath, and Beth-'anoth, and Eltekon: six cities with their village.

60 IKiriyathi-Bhali, okuyiKiriyathi-Jeyarimi, leRaba; imizi emibili lemizana yayo.

Kiryath-baal, which is Kiryath-ye'arim, and Rabbah; two cities with their villages.

61 Enkangala: IBeti-Araba, iMidini leSekaka

In the wilderness, Beth-ha'arabah, Middin, and Sechachah,

62 leNibishani, lomuzi wetshwayi, leEngedi; imizi eyisithupha lemizana yayo.

And Nibshan, and 'Ir-hammelach, and 'En-gedi: six cities with their villages.

63 Kodwa amaJebusi, abahlali beJerusalema, abantwana bakoJuda babengelakho ukuwaxotsha elifeni; ngakho amaJebusi ahlala labantwana bakoJuda eJerusalema kuze kube lamuhla.

As for the Jebusites the inhabitants of Jerusalem, these the children of Judah could not drive out; but the Jebusites dwelt with the children of Judah at Jerusalem, even unto this day.
