UJohane 17

1 UJesu wakhuluma lezizinto, waphakamisela amehlo akhe ezulwini, wathi: Baba, ihola selifikile; dumisa iNdodana yakho, ukuze layo iNdodana yakho ikudumise;

Jesus spoke these things, and he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour has come. Glorify thy Son, that the Son may also glorify thee,

2 njengoba uyinikile amandla phezu kwayo yonke inyama, ukuze bonke obanike yona, ibanike impilo elaphakade. (aiōnios g166)

just as thou gave him authority over all flesh, so that all things that thou have given him, he will give them eternal life. (aiōnios g166)

3 Lalokhu yimpilo elaphakade, ukuthi bazi wena uNkulunkulu wedwa weqiniso, loJesu Kristu omthumileyo. (aiōnios g166)

And this is eternal life, that they should know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou sent. (aiōnios g166)

4 Mina ngikudumisile emhlabeni; ngiwuqedile umsebenzi obunginike wona ukuthi ngiwenze;

I glorified thee on the earth. I finished the work which thou have given me that I should do.

5 khathesi-ke ngidumise wena, Baba, ngilawe uqobo ngenkazimulo engangilayo kanye lawe ungakabi khona umhlaba.

And now, Father, glorify thou me with thyself with the glory that I had with thee before the world was.

6 Ngilibonakalisile ibizo lakho ebantwini onginike bona bevela emhlabeni; babengabakho, njalo wanginika bona; balilondolozile ilizwi lakho.

I manifested thy name to the men whom thou gave me out of the world. They were thine, and thou gave them to me, and they have kept thy word.

7 Khathesi sebesazi ukuthi konke, loba yikuphi onginike khona, kuvela kuwe;

Now they know that all things, as many as thou gave me are from thee.

8 ngoba amazwi onginike wona, ngibanikile wona; bawemukela, njalo bayazi ngeqiniso ukuthi ngiphuma kuwe, bakholiwe ukuthi ungithumile wena.

Because the sayings that thou gave to me, I gave to them. And they received them, and knew truly that I came forth from thee, and they believed that thou sent me.

9 Mina ngiyabakhulekela bona; kangikhulekeli umhlaba, kodwa labo onginike bona, ngoba bangabakho;

I pray about them. I do not pray about the world, but about whom thou have given me, because they are for thee.

10 njalo konke okwami kungokwakho, lokwakho kungokwami; njalo ngidunyisiwe kubo.

And all my things are thy things, and thy things are my things, and I am glorified in them.

11 Njalo kangisekho emhlabeni, kodwa basemhlabeni bona, njalo mina ngiyeza kuwe. Baba oNgcwele, balondoloze ebizweni lakho labo onginike bona, ukuze babe munye, njengathi.

And I am no more in the world, and these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep them in thy name that thou have given to me, so that they may be one, just as we.

12 Lapho ngiselabo emhlabeni, mina ngabalondoloza ebizweni lakho; labo onginike bona ngibalindile, njalo kakho kubo olahlekileyo, ngaphandle kwendodana yokulahlwa, ukuze kugcwaliseke umbhalo.

While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name. Whom thou gave to me, I kept, and none of them was destroyed, except the son of destruction, so that the scripture might be fulfilled.

13 Kodwa khathesi ngiza kuwe, njalo lezizinto ngizikhuluma emhlabeni, ukuze babe lentokozo yami igcwalisekile kubo.

And now I come to thee. And I speak these things in the world, so that they may have my joy fulfilled in them.

14 Mina ngibanikile ilizwi lakho, lomhlaba ubazondile, ngoba bengeyisibo abomhlaba, njengoba mina ngingesuye owomhlaba.

I have given them thy word, and the world hated them, because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.

15 Kangiceli ukuthi ubasuse emhlabeni, kodwa ukuze ubalondoloze kokubi.

I pray not that thou should take them out of the world, but that thou should keep them from the evil.

16 Kabasibo abomhlaba, njengalokhu mina ngingesuye owomhlaba.

They are not of the world just as I am not of the world.

17 Bangcwelise eqinisweni lakho; ilizwi lakho liliqiniso.

Sanctify them in thy truth. Thy word is truth.

18 Njengalokhu wangithuma emhlabeni, lami ngibathumile emhlabeni.

Just as thou sent me into the world, so also I sent them into the world.

19 Njalo mina ngizehlukanisela bona, ukuze labo behlukaniswe eqinisweni.

And for their sakes I sanctify myself, so that they may also themselves be sanctified in truth.

20 Njalo kangiceleli laba bodwa, kodwa lalabo abazakholwa kimi ngelizwi labo;

And I pray not about these only, but also about those who believe in me through their word,

21 ukuze bonke babe munye; njengalokhu wena, Baba, ukimi, lami ngikuwe, ukuze labo babe munye kithi; ukuze umhlaba ukholwe ukuthi wena ungithumile.

so that they may all be one, just as thou, Father, are in me, and I in thee, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that thou sent me.

22 Lenkazimulo mina onginike yona, ngibanikile bona, ukuze babe munye, njengathi simunye.

And I, the glory that thou have given me, I have given to them, so that they may be one, just as we are one,

23 Mina ngikubo, lawe ukimi, ukuze bapheleliswe babe munye, lokuze umhlaba wazi ukuthi wena ungithumile, lokuthi ubathandile, njengalokhu ungithandile.

I in them, and thou in me, that they may be fully perfected in one, and so that the world may know that thou sent me, and loved them, just as thou loved me.

24 Baba, labo onginike bona, ngithanda ukuthi lapho mina engikhona, labo babe lami; ukuze babone inkazimulo yami, onginike yona, ngoba wangithanda kungakasekelwa umhlaba.

Father, whom thou gave to me, I desire that where I am, they also may be with me, so that they may see my glory that thou have given me, because thou loved me before the foundation of the world.

25 Baba olungileyo, ngitsho umhlaba kawukwazanga, kodwa mina ngikwazile, lalaba bayazi ukuthi wena ungithumile;

And righteous Father, the world does not know thee, but I know thee, and these know that thou sent me.

26 njalo ngibazisile ibizo lakho, njalo ngizabazisa lona; ukuze uthando ongithande ngalo lube kubo, lami kubo.

And I made known to them thy name, and I will make it known, so that the love that thou loved me may be in them, and I in them.
