< UJobe 42 >
1 UJobe waseyiphendula iNkosi wathi:
Then Job answered the Lord.
2 Ngiyazi ukuthi ungakwenza konke, lokuthi kakulacebo elingavinjelwa kuwe.
“I know you can do anything. No one can prevent you doing what you want.
3 Ngubani lo ofiphaza iseluleko engelalwazi? Ngakho ngikhulumile lokho ebengingakuqedisisi, izinto ezimangalisayo kakhulu kimi, ebengingazazi.
You asked, ‘Who is this who questions my wisdom by talking so ignorantly?’ I was speaking about things I didn't understand—things too wonderful for me to know.
4 Ake uzwe, ngizakhuluma mina. Ngizakubuza, njalo wenze ngazi.
You told me, ‘Listen to me, I am going to speak. I am going to question you, and you must answer me.’
5 Ngokuzwa kwendlebe ngikuzwile, kodwa khathesi ilihlo lami liyakubona.
Before, I had only heard about you, but now I've seen you for myself.
6 Ngakho-ke ngiyazinenga, ngiyaphenduka ethulini lemlotheni.
That is why I'm sorry for what I said, and I repent in dust and ashes.”
7 Kwasekusithi iNkosi isikhulume lamazwi kuJobe, iNkosi yathi kuElifazi umThemani: Ulaka lwami luyavutha kuwe lakubangane bakho ababili, ngoba kalikhulumanga ngami okuqondileyo njengenceku yami uJobe.
After the Lord had finished speaking to Job he said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “I am angry with you and your two friends because you have not told the truth about me, as my servant Job did.
8 Ngakho-ke zithatheleni amajongosi ayisikhombisa lenqama eziyisikhombisa, liye encekwini yami uJobe, lizinikelele umnikelo wokutshiswa, njalo uJobe inceku yami uzalikhulekela; ngoba isibili ngizakwemukela ubuso bakhe, ukuze ngingenzi kini njengobuthutha benu; ngoba kalikhulumanga ngami okuqondileyo njengenceku yami uJobe.
So take seven bulls and seven rams and go to my servant Job, and you shall offer a burnt offering for yourselves. My servant Job will pray on your behalf and I will accept his prayer and not deal with you according to your foolishness, because you have not told the truth about me, as my servant Job did.”
9 Ngakho bahamba oElifazi umThemani loBilidadi umShuhi loZofari umNahama, benza njengokutsho kweNkosi kubo; njalo iNkosi yemukela ubuso bukaJobe.
So Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite did what the Lord commanded them, and the Lord accepted Job's prayer.
10 INkosi yasiphendula ukuthunjwa kukaJobe esekhulekele abangane bakhe; njalo iNkosi yengezelela konke uJobe ayelakho kuze kuphindwe kabili.
The Lord restored Job's prosperity when he prayed for his friends, and gave him twice as much as he had before.
11 Kwasekufika kuye bonke abafowabo labo bonke odadewabo, labo bonke ababemazi mandulo, badla isinkwa laye endlini yakhe, bamkhalela, bamduduza ngakho konke okubi iNkosi eyayimehlisele khona; bamnika ngulowo lalowo uhlamvu lwemali, langulowo lalowo isongo legolide.
Then all his brothers and sisters and friends he'd previously known came and ate with him at his home. They showed him sympathy and comforted him because of all the trouble the Lord had caused him. Each one of them gave him money and a gold ring.
12 INkosi yasibusisa isiphetho sikaJobe okwedlula ukuqala kwakhe; ngoba waba lezimvu ezizinkulungwane ezilitshumi lane, lamakamela azinkulungwane eziyisithupha, lezipane zenkabi eziyinkulungwane, labobabhemi abasikazi abayinkulungwane.
The Lord blessed the last part of Job's life more than the first part. Now he owned 14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 teams of oxen, and 1,000 female donkeys.
13 Wasesiba lamadodana ayisikhombisa lamadodakazi amathathu.
Job also had seven sons and three daughters.
14 Wasebiza ibizo leyokuqala wathi nguJemima, lebizo leyesibili wathi nguKeziya, lebizo leyesithathu wathi nguKereni-Hapuki.
Job called the first daughter Jemimah, the second Keziah, and the third Keren-Happuch.
15 Njalo kakutholakalanga abesifazana abahle njengamadodakazi kaJobe elizweni lonke; loyise wawanika ilifa phakathi kwabanewabo.
Nowhere in all the land were there women as beautiful as Job's daughters, and Job gave them the same inheritance as their brothers.
16 Lemva kwalokho uJobe waphila iminyaka elikhulu lamatshumi amane; wabona amadodana akhe, lamadodana amadodana akhe, kwaze kwaba yizizukulwana ezine.
Job lived 140 years after this, seeing his children, and grandchildren, in fact four generations.
17 UJobe wasesifa, emdala, enele ngezinsuku.
Then Job died at an old age, having lived a very full life.
