1 Wasephendula uBilidadi umShuhi wathi:
Then Bildad the Shuhite answered, and said,
2 Koze kube nini libekela amazwi imigibe? Nanzelelani, lemva kwalokho sikhulume.
How long will ye hunt for words? Consider, and afterwards we will speak.
3 Kungani sithiwa sizinyamazana, singcolile emehlweni enu?
Why are we counted as beasts, and have become unclean in your eyes?
4 Udwengula umphefumulo wakhe ngokuthukuthela kwakhe. Umhlaba uzatshiywa ngenxa yakho yini, loba idwala lisuswe endaweni yalo?
Thou who tear thyself in thine anger, shall the earth be forsaken for thee? Or shall the rock be removed out of its place?
5 Yebo, ukukhanya kwabakhohlakeleyo kuzacitshwa, lenhlansi yomlilo wakhe kayiyikukhanya.
Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put out, and the spark of his fire shall not shine.
6 Ukukhanya kuzafiphala ethenteni lakhe, lesibane sakhe ngaphezu kwakhe sizacitshwa.
The light shall be dark in his tent, and his lamp above him shall be put out.
7 Izinyathelo zamandla akhe zizafinyezwa, lecebo lakhe lizamwisela phansi.
The steps of his strength shall be restricted, and his own counsel shall cast him down.
8 Ngoba uzaphoselwa embuleni zinyawo zakhe, ahambe phezu kwembule.
For he is cast into a net by his own feet, and he walks upon the toils.
9 Umjibila uzambamba isithende, isihitshela sizamkhulela.
A trap shall take him by the heel. A snare shall lay hold on him.
10 Igoda lakhe lifihlwe emhlabathini, lomjibila wakhe endleleni.
A noose is hid for him in the ground, and a trap for him in the way.
11 Izesabiso zizamethusa inhlangothi zonke, zixotshane laye enyaweni zakhe.
Terrors shall make him afraid on every side, and shall chase him at his heels.
12 Amandla akhe azaqedwa yindlala, lengozi ilindele ukukhubeka kwakhe.
His strength shall be weakened by hunger, and calamity shall be ready at his side.
13 Kuzakudla ingxenye zesikhumba sakhe; izibulo lokufa lidle ingxenye zakhe.
The members of his body shall be devoured. The firstborn of death shall devour his body-parts.
14 Ithemba lakhe lizahluthunwa ethenteni lakhe, njalo kumenze aye enkosini yezesabiso.
He shall be rooted out of his tent where he trusts, and he shall be brought to the king of terrors.
15 Kuzahlala ethenteni lakhe elingeyisilo lakhe; isolufa izavuvuzelwa phezu kwendawo yakhe yokuhlala.
There shall dwell in his tent that which is none of his. Brimstone shall be scattered upon his habitation.
16 Impande zakhe zizakoma ngaphansi, logatsha lwakhe lubune ngaphezulu.
His roots shall be dried up beneath, and above shall his branch be cut off.
17 Ukukhunjulwa kwakhe kuzabhubha emhlabeni, angabi labizo ezitaladeni.
His remembrance shall perish from the earth, and he shall have no name in the street.
18 Bazamfuqa bamsuse ekukhanyeni bamuse emnyameni, bamxotshe emhlabeni.
He shall be driven from light into darkness, and chased out of the world.
19 Kayikuba lenzalo lasizukulwana ebantwini bakibo; kakuyikuba lansali endaweni zakhe zokuhlala.
He shall have neither son nor son's son among his people, nor any remaining where he sojourned.
20 Abalandelayo bazakwethuswa lusuku lwakhe, labokuqala bazabanjwa yisesabiso.
Those who come after shall be astonished at his day, as those who went before were frightened.
21 Isibili zinjalo indawo zokuhlala zomubi, njalo yiyo le indawo yongamaziyo uNkulunkulu.
Surely such are the dwellings of the unrighteous, and this is the place of him who does not know God.
