< UJeremiya 52 >
1 UZedekhiya wayeleminyaka engamatshumi amabili lanye esiba yinkosi, wabusa iminyaka elitshumi lanye eJerusalema; lebizo likanina lalinguHamuthali, indodakazi kaJeremiya weLibhina.
Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eleven years. His mother’s name was Hamutal daughter of Jeremiah; she was from Libnah.
2 Wasesenza okubi emehlweni eNkosi, njengakho konke akwenzayo uJehoyakhimi.
And Zedekiah did evil in the sight of the LORD, just as Jehoiakim had done.
3 Ngoba ngenxa yokuthukuthela kweNkosi kwenzeka eJerusalema loJuda yaze yabaphosela khatshana lobuso bayo; uZedekhiya wasevukela inkosi yeBhabhiloni.
For because of the anger of the LORD, all this happened in Jerusalem and Judah, until He finally banished them from His presence. And Zedekiah also rebelled against the king of Babylon.
4 Kwasekusithi ngomnyaka wesificamunwemunye wokubusa kwakhe, ngenyanga yetshumi, ngolwetshumi lwenyanga, uNebhukadirezari inkosi yeBhabhiloni wafika, yena lebutho lakhe lonke, ukumelana leJerusalema; basebemisa inkamba bemelene layo, bayakhela izinqaba zokuvimbezela bemelene layo inhlangothi zonke.
So in the ninth year of Zedekiah’s reign, on the tenth day of the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon marched against Jerusalem with his entire army. They encamped outside the city and built a siege wall all around it.
5 Ngokunjalo umuzi wangena ekuvinjezelweni kwaze kwaba ngumnyaka wetshumi lanye wenkosi uZedekhiya.
And the city was kept under siege until King Zedekiah’s eleventh year.
6 Ngenyanga yesine, ngolwesificamunwemunye lwenyanga, lapho indlala yayiqinile phakathi komuzi, abantu belizwe kababanga lokudla.
By the ninth day of the fourth month, the famine in the city was so severe that the people of the land had no food.
7 Basebewufohlela umuzi; wonke amadoda empi asebaleka, aphuma emzini ebusuku, ngendlela yesango, phakathi kwemiduli emibili, elisesivandeni senkosi (amaKhaladiya ayemelene lomuzi inhlangothi zonke), ahamba ngendlela yegceke.
Then the city was breached; and though the Chaldeans had surrounded the city, all the men of war fled the city by night by way of the gate between the two walls near the king’s garden. They headed toward the Arabah,
8 Kodwa ibutho lamaKhaladiya laxotshana lenkosi, lafica uZedekhiya emagcekeni eJeriko; lebutho lakhe lonke lahlakazeka lisuka kuye.
but the army of the Chaldeans pursued the king and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho, and all his army was separated from him.
9 Basebeyibamba inkosi, bayenyusela enkosini yeBhabhiloni eRibila elizweni leHamathi, eyakhuluma izigwebo kuyo.
The Chaldeans seized the king and brought him up to the king of Babylon at Riblah in the land of Hamath, where he pronounced judgment on Zedekiah.
10 Inkosi yeBhabhiloni yasibulala amadodana kaZedekhiya emehlweni akhe, futhi yazibulala lazo zonke iziphathamandla zakoJuda eRibila.
There at Riblah the king of Babylon slaughtered the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and he also killed all the officials of Judah.
11 Yasiphumputhekisa amehlo kaZedekhiya, yambopha ngamaketane ethusi amabili, ukuze inkosi yeBhabhiloni imuse eBhabhiloni, yamfaka entolongweni, kwaze kwaba lusuku lokufa kwakhe.
Then he put out Zedekiah’s eyes, bound him with bronze shackles, and took him to Babylon, where he kept him in custody until his dying day.
12 Njalo ngenyanga yesihlanu, ngolwetshumi lwenyanga (lo umnyaka wawungumnyaka wetshumi lesificamunwemunye wenkosi uNebhukadirezari inkosi yeBhabhiloni), uNebuzaradani induna yabalindi, eyayimi phambi kwenkosi yeBhabhiloni, wangena eJerusalema.
On the tenth day of the fifth month, in the nineteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar’s reign over Babylon, Nebuzaradan captain of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, entered Jerusalem.
13 Watshisa indlu kaJehova, lendlu yenkosi, lezindlu zonke zeJerusalema lezindlu zonke zabakhulu wazitshisa ngomlilo.
He burned down the house of the LORD, the royal palace, and all the houses of Jerusalem—every significant building.
14 Lebutho lonke lamaKhaladiya, elalilenduna yabalindi, labhidliza yonke imiduli yeJerusalema inhlangothi zonke.
And the whole army of the Chaldeans under the captain of the guard broke down all the walls around Jerusalem.
15 UNebuzaradani induna yabalindi wasethumba abathile kwabangabayanga babantu, lensali yabantu eyayisele emzini, lalabo ababehlamukile, ababehlamukele enkosini yeBhabhiloni, labaseleyo bexuku.
Then Nebuzaradan captain of the guard carried into exile some of the poorest people and those who remained in the city, along with the deserters who had defected to the king of Babylon and the rest of the craftsmen.
16 Kodwa uNebuzaradani induna yabalindi watshiya abanye kwabangabayanga belizwe ukuthi babe ngabaphathi bezivini labalimi.
But Nebuzaradan captain of the guard left behind some of the poorest of the land to tend the vineyards and fields.
17 Lensika zethusi ezazisendlini yeNkosi, lezisekelo, lolwandle lwethusi olwalusendlini yeNkosi, amaKhaladiya akuphahlaza, athwala lonke ithusi lakho alisa eBhabhiloni.
Moreover, the Chaldeans broke up the bronze pillars and stands and the bronze Sea in the house of the LORD, and they carried all the bronze to Babylon.
18 Athatha izimbiza, lamafotsholo, lezindlawu, lemiganu yokufafaza, lezinkezo, lazo zonke izitsha zethusi abakhonza ngazo,
They also took away the pots, shovels, wick trimmers, sprinkling bowls, dishes, and all the articles of bronze used in the temple service.
19 lemiganu, lezitsha zokuthwala umlilo, lemiganu yokufafaza, lezimbiza, lezinti zezibane, lezinkezo, lemiganu yomnikelo wokuthululwa; okwakuligolide golide lokwakuyisiliva siliva induna yabalindi yakuthatha.
The captain of the guard also took away the basins, censers, sprinkling bowls, pots, lampstands, pans, and drink offering bowls—anything made of pure gold or fine silver.
20 Insika zombili, ulwandle olulodwa, lenkabi zethusi ezazilitshumi lambili ezazingaphansi kwezisekelo inkosi uSolomoni eyayikwenzele indlu yeNkosi; ithusi lazo zonke lezizitsha lalingelakulinganiswa ngesisindo.
As for the two pillars, the Sea, the twelve bronze bulls under it, and the movable stands that King Solomon had made for the house of the LORD, the weight of the bronze from all these articles was beyond measure.
21 Mayelana lezinsika, ubude bensika eyodwa babuzingalo ezilitshumi lesificaminwembili, lentambo yezingalo ezilitshumi lambili yayigombolozela, lohlonzi lwayo lwaluyiminwe emine, yayilomwolo.
Each pillar was eighteen cubits tall and twelve cubits in circumference; each was hollow, four fingers thick.
22 Lesiduku esiphezu kwayo sasilithusi, lobude besiduku esisodwa babuzingalo ezinhlanu, lembule, lamapomegranati phezu kwesiduku inhlangothi zonke; konke kwakulithusi. Lensika yesibili yayilokufanana lalezi, lamapomegranati.
The bronze capital atop one pillar was five cubits high, with a network of bronze pomegranates all around. The second pillar, with its pomegranates, was similar.
23 Njalo kwakulamapomegranati angamatshumi ayisificamunwemunye lesithupha eceleni; wonke amapomegranati ayelikhulu phezu kwembule inhlangothi zonke.
Each capital had ninety-six pomegranates on the sides, and a total of a hundred pomegranates were above the surrounding network.
24 Induna yabalindi yasithatha uSeraya umpristi oyinhloko, loZefaniya umpristi owesibili, labalindi bombundu labo bobathathu.
The captain of the guard also took away Seraiah the chief priest, Zephaniah the priest of second rank, and the three doorkeepers.
25 Yasithatha emzini umthenwa othile owayengumphathi phezu kwamadoda empi, lamadoda ayisikhombisa kulabo ababona ubuso benkosi, atholakala emzini, lomabhalane wenduna yebutho eyayibuthela abantu belizwe emabuthweni, lamadoda angamatshumi ayisithupha abantu belizwe, ayetholakala phakathi komuzi.
Of those still in the city, he took a court official who had been appointed over the men of war, as well as seven trusted royal advisers. He also took the scribe of the captain of the army, who had enlisted the people of the land, and sixty men who were found in the city.
26 UNebuzaradani induna yabalindi wasebathatha, wabasa enkosini yeBhabhiloni eRibila.
Nebuzaradan captain of the guard took them and brought them to the king of Babylon at Riblah.
27 Inkosi yeBhabhiloni yasibatshaya, yababulalela eRibila elizweni leHamathi. Ngokunjalo uJuda wathunjwa esuswa elizweni lakhe.
There at Riblah in the land of Hamath, the king of Babylon struck them down and put them to death. So Judah was taken into exile, away from its own land.
28 Laba ngabantu uNebhukadirezari abathumbayo: Ngomnyaka wesikhombisa, amaJuda azinkulungwane ezintathu lamatshumi amabili lantathu;
These are the people Nebuchadnezzar carried away: in the seventh year, 3,023 Jews;
29 ngomnyaka wetshumi lesificaminwembili kaNebhukadirezari, kwasuka eJerusalema imiphefumulo engamakhulu ayisificaminwembili lamatshumi amathathu lambili;
in Nebuchadnezzar’s eighteenth year, 832 people from Jerusalem;
30 ngomnyaka wamatshumi amabili lantathu kaNebhukadirezari, uNebuzaradani induna yabalindi wathumba amaJuda, imiphefumulo engamakhulu ayisikhombisa lamatshumi amane lanhlanu; yonke imiphefumulo yayizinkulungwane ezine lamakhulu ayisithupha.
in Nebuchadnezzar’s twenty-third year, Nebuzaradan captain of the guard carried away 745 Jews. So in all, 4,600 people were taken away.
31 Kwasekusithi ngomnyaka wamatshumi amathathu lesikhombisa wokuthunjwa kukaJehoyakhini inkosi yakoJuda, ngenyanga yetshumi lambili ngolwamatshumi amabili lanhlanu lwenyanga, uEvili-Merodaki inkosi yeBhabhiloni, ngomnyaka wokuqala wokubusa kwakhe, waphakamisa ikhanda likaJehoyakhini inkosi yakoJuda, wamkhupha entolongweni,
On the twenty-fifth day of the twelfth month of the thirty-seventh year of the exile of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the first year of the reign of Evil-merodach king of Babylon, he pardoned Jehoiachin king of Judah and released him from prison.
32 wasekhuluma kuhle laye, wabeka isihlalo sakhe sobukhosi phezu kwesihlalo sobukhosi samakhosi ayelaye eBhabhiloni.
And he spoke kindly to Jehoiachin and set his throne above the thrones of the other kings who were with him in Babylon.
33 Wasentshintsha izigqoko zokubotshwa kwakhe; njalo wadla isinkwa phambi kwayo njalonjalo insuku zonke zempilo yakhe.
So Jehoiachin changed out of his prison clothes, and he dined regularly at the king’s table for the rest of his life.
34 Mayelana lesabelo sakhe, isabelo esimiyo wasinikwa yinkosi yeBhabhiloni, into yosuku ngosuku lwayo, kwaze kwaba lusuku lokufa kwakhe, zonke insuku zempilo yakhe.
And the king of Babylon provided Jehoiachin a daily portion for the rest of his life, until the day of his death.
