UJeremiya 28
1 Kwasekusithi ngalowomnyaka, ekuqaleni kokubusa kukaZedekhiya inkosi yakoJuda, ngomnyaka wesine, ngenyanga yesihlanu, uHananiya indodana kaAzuri umprofethi owayengoweGibeyoni wakhuluma kimi endlini yeNkosi emehlweni abapristi labantu bonke, esithi:
And it came to pass in the same year, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah, king of Judah, in the fourth year, in the fifth month, that Hananiah, the son of Azur the prophet, who was of Gibeon, spoke to me in the presence of the priests and of all the people, saying,
2 Itsho njalo iNkosi yamabandla, uNkulunkulu kaIsrayeli, isithi: Ngilephulile ijogwe lenkosi yeBhabhiloni.
Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: “I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.
3 Kusesephakathi kweminyaka emibili yezinsuku ngizabuyisela kulindawo izitsha zonke zendlu yeNkosi, uNebhukadinezari inkosi yeBhabhiloni azisusa kulindawo wazisa eBhabhiloni.
Within two full years will I bring again to this place all the vessels of the house of Jehovah, which Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon took from this place, and carried to Babylon.
4 Futhi uJekoniya indodana kaJehoyakhimi inkosi yakoJuda, labo bonke abathunjwa bakoJuda, abaya eBhabhiloni, ngizababuyisela kulindawo, itsho iNkosi; ngoba ngizalephula ijogwe lenkosi yeBhabhiloni.
And Jeconiah, the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and all the captives of Judah that went to Babylon, will I bring again to this place, saith Jehovah; for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.”
5 Wasekhuluma uJeremiya umprofethi kuHananiya umprofethi emehlweni abapristi lemehlweni abantu bonke ababemi endlini yeNkosi;
Then Jeremiah the prophet spake to Hananiah the prophet, in the presence of the priests, and in the presence of all the people that stood in the house of Jehovah.
6 uJeremiya umprofethi wasesithi: Ameni! INkosi kayenze njalo, iNkosi kayiqinise amazwi akho owaprofethileyo, ukuthi ibuyise izitsha zendlu yeNkosi, labo bonke abathunjwa, kusuke eBhabhiloni kuze kulindawo.
And Jeremiah the prophet said, Amen! So may Jehovah do! May Jehovah fulfill thy words which thou hast prophesied, and bring back the vessels of the house of Jehovah, and all the captives from Babylon to this place!
7 Kodwa ake uzwe lelilizwi engilikhuluma endlebeni zakho lendlebeni zabo bonke abantu:
Nevertheless, hear now this word, which I speak in thine ears, and in the ears of all the people.
8 Abaprofethi ababephambi kwami lababephambi kwakho kwasendulo baprofetha bemelene lamazwe amanengi bemelene lemibuso emikhulu, ngempi langobubi langomatshayabhuqe wesifo.
The prophets who have been before me and before thee from ancient times have also prophesied against many nations, and against great kingdoms, of war, of calamity, and of pestilence.
9 Umprofethi oprofetha ngokuthula, lapho ilizwi lomprofethi selifikile, lowomprofethi uzakwaziwa ukuthi iNkosi imthumile ngeqiniso.
The prophet who prophesieth of peace, when the word of the prophet shall come to pass, then shall he be known as a prophet whom Jehovah hath truly sent.
10 Umprofethi uHananiya waselisusa ijogwe entanyeni kaJeremiya umprofethi, walephula.
Then Hananiah the prophet took the yoke from the prophet Jeremiah's neck, and broke it.
11 UHananiya wasekhuluma emehlweni abantu bonke esithi: Itsho njalo iNkosi: Ngokunjalo ngizalephula ijogwe likaNebhukadinezari inkosi yeBhabhiloni ngilisuse entanyeni yezizwe zonke kusesephakathi kweminyaka emibili yezinsuku. UJeremiya umprofethi wasehamba ngendlela yakhe.
And Hananiah spake in the presence of all the people, saying, Thus saith Jehovah: In this manner will I break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, from the neck of all the nations, within the space of two full years. And the prophet Jeremiah went his way.
12 Laselifika ilizwi leNkosi kuJeremiya, emva kokuthi uHananiya umprofethi esephulile ijogwe elisusa entanyeni kaJeremiya umprofethi, lisithi:
Then came the word of Jehovah to Jeremiah, after that Hananiah the prophet had broken the yoke from the neck of the prophet Jeremiah, saying:
13 Hamba uyetshela uHananiya usithi: Itsho njalo iNkosi: Wephulile amajogwe esigodo; kodwa uzawenza amajogwe ensimbi endaweni yawo.
Go and tell Hananiah, saying: Thou hast broken a yoke of wood, but thou shalt make instead of it a yoke of iron.
14 Ngoba itsho njalo iNkosi yamabandla, uNkulunkulu kaIsrayeli: Ngigaxile ijogwe lensimbi entanyeni yazo zonke lezizizwe ukuze zisebenzele uNebhukadinezari inkosi yeBhabhiloni; futhi zizamsebenzela, njalo ngimnikile lezinyamazana zeganga.
For thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: A yoke of iron do I put upon the neck of all these nations, that they may serve Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon; and they shall serve him. The beasts of the field also do I give to him.
15 UJeremiya umprofethi wasesithi kuHananiya umprofethi: Ake uzwe, Hananiya; iNkosi kayikuthumanga, kodwa wena wenza lababantu ukuthi bathembe amanga.
Jeremiah the prophet said also to Hananiah the prophet: Hear now, Hananiah! Jehovah hath not sent thee; but thou makest this people to trust in a lie.
16 Ngakho itsho njalo iNkosi: Khangela, ngizakuxotsha ebusweni bomhlaba; lonyaka uzakufa, ngoba ukhulumile ukuhlamuka umelene leNkosi.
Therefore thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I will cast thee off from the face of the earth. This year thou shalt die; for thou hast spoken rebellion against Jehovah.
17 Wafa-ke uHananiya umprofethi ngalowomnyaka ngenyanga yesikhombisa.
And Hananiah the prophet died in the same year, in the seventh month.
